I've mentioned this before, but for the sake of the story, "Misplaced" is taking place before "Failsafe". So, for the purpose of this story, "Secrets" comes after it.

Also, hi! I was feeling a bit inspired recently and I got busy! I've missed this, and all of you. I hope you've enjoyed reading! Anddddd, I own nothing, obviously.

Dick strolled through the halls of Gotham academy heading towards his last class. Zatanna and Barbra were talking behind him. He wasn't really paying much attention to what they were saying, and he didn't get a chance to listen because Callie Livingston stopped him.

"Hey, Dick!" She said excitedly.

"Hey, Callie." Dick replied. He wasn't a huge fan of this girl, but he was being polite.

"Listen, um, there's gonna be a big party at Tina's house tonight! Flora is throwing it for the whole school, and Tina's parents arent home." She handed him a black invitation with orange writing. "I'll be there! Tina, Flora, and I are going as angels!" She winked at Dick, "I hope to see you there."

With that she turned and walked off. Dick looked down at the invitation, it had an address and it said to come in a costume. Zatanna and Barbra leapt forward and Barbra grabbed the invitation.

"Oh my God, Dick are you gonna go?" She asked excitedly.

Dick rolled his eyes, "You really think Bruce and Alfred would let me?"

Barbra sighed, "You're probably right."

"Oh well." Zatanna said, although she didn't seem very put out by it.
The warning bell rang and the three of them continued to their class. Dick sat next to Barbra and watched as Andrew took a seat next to Zatanna. The girl smiled at him and Andrew returned it. Dick rolled his eyes.

"Maybe you should go to that party," Barbra whispered as she leaned over to him, "maybe you'll find someone other than Zatanna."

Dick glared at her, "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Mmhmm." Babs replied, obviously not buying it.

Their class went by quickly and the lesson ended ten minutes before the bell rang. The teacher announced that they could talk to each other quietly for the rest of the period.

Dick glanced in Zatanna's direction when he saw that Andrew was getting up and leaving. He raised an eyebrow as he watched him walk away. Zatanna stood and joined him and Barbra at their table.

"Zee," Barbra started excitedly, " so, have you two kissed yet?"

Zatanna blushed, "No, not yet."

Barbra glanced at Dick but he kept his face neutral. He wasn't about to give away how happy that made him.

"Wait!, Would he be your first kiss?' Barbra continued, gaining excitement. Dick rolled his eyes, he would never understand why girls insisted on being like this. Zatanna smiled and nodded.

Okay, that did spark his interest.

Barbra squealed, "Oh my god!"

She grabbed Zatanna's hands, "When do you think he'll kiss you?"

Zatanna giggled, "I don't know! But we were supposed to hang out tonight! He's going out to a party tonight and I was going to go with him."

Dick looked away and sighed to himself, he had heard her mention a party to Selina. His 'sorta mom' had agreed to let her go because she had improved in her training so much. He tuned out of the conversation as he thought about the last few weeks.

Zatanna had told Selina she wanted to be more serious about training, that she wanted to be a hero. And Seina had agreed to making her training more intense. Zatanna now woke up at the same time he did to work out in the mornings. She did her homework when she got home, and then she went through some techniques that Bruce had shown her. And Selina would come by at nights to show her how to fight. They had just recently started to spar. She was a quick learner. Dick hadn't been very involved with her training since then. Selina had told him that she didn't want her to have any distractions. When Zatanna had improved then she would be able to spar with Dick.

Selina had also said that him sparing with her and showing her some of his own fighting style would be critical eventually. Now that he was older, he fought close up more often, but when he had first started he was a distance fighter. He would only deal long ranged attacks and he would engage only to flip away. Selina wanted Zatanna to be long range at first, only instead of birdarangs, she would use her magic. And her magic was improving a lot too.. She had been spending all of her free time practicing at the mountain with Kalder. Everyone was impressed with how well she was doing.

Once she was ready, she would become an official member of the team. Bruce was still forbidding patrol though. After all she was a magician, and there was still the 'no powers in Gotham' rule to consider.

The bell ringing snapped him back to reality and he gathered his things. Zatanna and Barbra were already heading out the door by the time he had stood up. He followed them out and nearly knocked into them when they stopped short a few feet outside of the door, They both gasped and Dick craned his head to look over them. His eyes went wide when they spotted what they were looking at.

Andrew was leaning on a locker with his arms wrapped around Milllie Allen. It was clear that they had just been kissing and upon spotting Zatanna, Andrew let go of her quickly. Dick narrowed his eyes into a glare directed at Andrew. The other boy didn't see it because he quickly turned around and fled in the opposite direction.

Barbra immediately took Zatanna's hand and led her over to their lockers. Dick followed at a distance, giving them space. He hung back and tried to get a glimpse of the magician's face, but Barbra was blocking his view. Instead he looked around and discovered that groups of teens were already whispering excitedly to each other. God, these people loved their gossip.

He was concerned for Zatanna but he kind of figured that she would rather be with Barbra right now. It seemed more like a girl moment so he continued to hang back. They talked for a few minutes until the halls cleared and then they gathered their things from their lockers.

Dick hurried to his which wasn't far and grabbed the rest of his stuff. He met them at the door and followed them to the steps. Barbra gave Zatanna a hug and told her to call her later before running down the stairs.

Dick cautiously approached Zatanna and paused next to her. She looked up to him and her eyes were watery but she didn't cry.

"Do you want me to walk with you today?" He asked.

She shook her head, "No, I kind of want to be alone right now. Besides, Alfred is probably waiting for you."

She turned and made her way down the stairs and he winced. He tried not to take that too personally. He watched her leave then made his way to the car where Alfred was waiting. The butler opened the door for him and he climbed in. It closed with a thump and Alfred took his place at the wheel.

"Rough day, Master Richard?" He asked looking at Dick intently.

Dick shrugged, "Not really." Not for him anyway.

Alfred didn't press him on it though. "Master Bruce wishes to speak with you when we get home."

Dick's eyebrows raised, "He's at home already?"

Alfred nodded as he pulled the car out of the lot, "He is indeed."

"Okay."

It was odd for Bruce to be home before seven, but Dick wasn't complaining. It seemed like he hardly got to see his guardian these days.

The ride home was a silent one as Dick tried to get his homework done. He had a feeling that if Bruce was home early then something was wrong. He almost had it done by the time they got home.

Dick hopped out of the car and headed up to his room to drop off his things. Zatanna's door was closed so he figured she still wanted to be alone. He made his way to Bruce's study and hoped Zatanna wasn't too upset.

Bruce was sitting behind his desk talking to someone on the phone. Dick took a seat on one of the chairs in front of the desk and waited,

"Yes. It's important Oliver." Bruce paused and listened, "Good, then I'll see you tonight. And yes, Dick's coming with me."

Dick perked up when he heard his name. Bruce hung up the phone and sighed.

"What's up?" Dick asked eagerly.

"It's a long story, but Kalder is concerned about the team." Bruce started.

"What...what about the team?" Dick was hesitant. He really hoped it wasn't anything big, he really liked being on the team.
"He is concerned that there may be a mole." Bruce said seriously.

Dick let that sink in for a minute before he responded, "Still?"

"We'll talk about it more tonight." Bruce stood and made his way to the door, gesturing for Dick to follow, " We're meeting Red Tornado, Roy, and Kalder tonight at the mountain."

Dick sighed and nodded. Great, this was just great. Halloween was supposed to be fun! Plus this was a Friday night, and he got to spend it talking about the possibility of a mole on the team.

Dick quickly went back to his room and changed. He still had to get his afternoon workout done. Although, blowing off some steam might be a good idea.

He was actually pretty mad about what Andrew had done. Zatanna didn't deserve that, she deserved better. She had just lost her father to a possessed helmet for crying out loud! It didn't matter that Andrew didn't know that, he should know better! Everyone should know better than to do that!

He stalked into the gym and paused when he saw that Zatanna was already there. She was going through some kicks Bruce had shown her. She really was improving a lot. Dick walked past her and straight to a punching bag. He was glad today was an arm day.

Zatanna was more angry than sad. She shouldn't have been stupid enough to get involved with Andrew! The only thing that really made her feel better was the fact that she didn't really care that much about him. He had really just been a distraction from everything else going on in her life.

Kicking the crap out of one of the punching bags was helping though. She was glad that she had decided to take this more seriously. She already loved it. Sure, it kept her busy and not thinking about her dad, but she liked the idea of helping people. Not everyone could protect themselves. And...maybe if she had been better at this her father would still be here with her.

She didn't even notice Dick come in until she heard him hitting the other bag. She turned to look at him but he wasn't paying attention. She went back to her kicks but she hoped that she hadn't made him upset.

After she left the school she realized that she probably could have been a bit nicer to him. He had been nothing but kind to her this whole time. But, she hadn't exactly been in the mood to chat.

She wasn't feeling much better now either. Tonight she would have been going to a party with Andrew, that obviously wasn't happening now. Although staying here alone tonight wasn't very appealing either. She thought about it more while she switched to techniques.

Meg had invited her to her school's dance at happy harbor tonight. Maybe all she needed was a bit of fun. Plus, if Dick was going she could make up for being a little short with him today.

After another hour of training Zatanna grabbed a water bottle and headed out of the gym. She needed to shower and change for the party. She already had a costume picked out, and she had told Alfred she wouldn't be around for dinner this morning, it was for a slightly different reason now though.

When she was done with her shower and changed, she spent a little extra time on her hair. She even put makeup on, after all it was a party. She was done by five and headed down to the cave. She was surprised to see that Dick was already down there. Well, Robin was anyway, since he was in his uniform.

"I take it you're not going to Meg's party then?" She smirked, "Or Callie's."

"Definitely not to the second one," The boy wonder smiled at her, "And no, I'm not gonna make it to Ms. M's party either. Do me a favor though and tell her I said thanks for the invite."

Zatanna nodded, "So, what are you doing instead?"

"Top secret." Robin winked. The way he said it made it sound like a joke, but Zatanna had a feeling it wasn't.

"You're going as a witch?" Robin asked with a laugh.

"I am a bit partial to them." Zatanna informed him with a smile. He had a way of lifting her mood.

"I guess that makes sense. You look go-"

"Robin" Batman suddenly appeared from somewhere in the cave, "Let's go."

Robin gave her one last smile, "Have fun!"

Zatanna watched them leave then pulled out her phone. She sent a text to Selina to explain her change in plans. Then she took a zeta beam to the cave. Maybe tonight she would have some fun!

Artemis got there at the same time as her. Zatanna immediately noticed Conner and Megan being couply, at least some people were having luck. When she pointed this out to Artemis the archer didn't seem pleased.

She made to leave and Zatanna followed, "No! Artemis waits! What about the party?"

"Not really in the mood." The archer paused, "But staying at home doesn't sound much better."

Zatanna smirked and did a quick spell, "How about a girls night then?"

Artemis looked down at her uniform and returned the smirk, "Perfect."

They were out on their motorcycles in no time, ready for whatever Manhattan had to throw at them. Or, at least they thought they were.

Robin wasn't a huge fan of this whole situation. This meeting was to determine if there was a mole on the team and he hated it. He was having to evaluate his friends, people he fought alongside. He was supposed to trust them!

He wasn't even really sure why Roy was there. He didn't want anything to do with the team, or the "Jr justice League" as he had dubbed them. He was just there pointing fingers, he hadn't ever fought with anyone he was accusing.

But Robin also wasn't stupid. If there was even the smallest possibility of a mole on the team, they needed to investigate. He just hoped with everything in him that it wasn't true. He wasn't sure how he would be able to deal with that. Not to mention the danger it would put the rest of his friends in. They could not afford to have their enemies a step ahead all of the time.

The conversation came to an end with both him and Kalder agreeing that there couldn't be a mole. But Robin knew he wouldn't be able to get it out of his head. He would be doing as much investigating as he could when he got back to the batcave.

Batman started to walk out and Robin followed. The main hangar of the cave was empty when they reached the zeta tubes. Everyone else was at Megan and Connor's school. Sometimes, not a lot, but sometimes he wished he could just go have fun.

It wasn't like he never got to, it just wasn't as much of a priority for him as it was for other teens his age. Hero stuff was fun, but it could also be really stressful. Like this whole mole thing, he was going to stress about it until he finally figured it out.

Zatanna stepped off of the zeta platform next to Artemis, "Well, that was...a bit unsettling. But, I'm glad we did it. Greta can rest now."

Artemis nodded beside her, "Yeah. I still don't know how he could do something like that to his sister."

Zatanna shuddered, "Me neither."

It was silent for a minute then Artemis cleared her throat, "So I heard about Andrew."

Zatanna narrowed her eyes.

"Are you okay?"

Zatanna sighed, "Yeah, I was more mad then sad to be honest. And...tonight helped. I got to blow off some steam. Plus, all of the Greta and Harm stuff makes that seem pretty insignificant."

Artemis smiled, "Yeah, it helped me out too."

"Hey, why do you go to Gotham Academy?"

Artemis stiffened, "Um...I'm there on scholarship. My uncle thought it was a good opportunity."

Zatanna wasn't too sure about that answer but she knew better than to press. "Oh, well it is a good school."

Artemis nodded, "Well, I'll see you around."

"Yeah. We should do this more often." She said as she turned back to the tubes.

"Good idea."

Zatanna heard right before she was whisked away.

When the light faded Zatanna saw Selina sitting in one of the chairs facing the computer. Zatanna was glad that she had texted her and told her she was going out with Artemis. She didn't think she would want to see the woman when she was angry.

The chair turned as she made her way over, "How was it?"

"It was good! I'm glad that I decided to do this."

"What happened?" Selina smiled.

Zatanna launched into the story and Selina listened intently. When she finished the woman grabbed her hand.

"You're sure you're okay?"

Zatanna nodded again, "Artemis and I talked about it. I'm okay. We're both glad we could help Greta find some peace."

Selina nodded, clearly satisfied, "Well, good job hun, I'm proud of you."

Zatanna smiled, "Thank you."

"So, what made you decide to go to the mountain tonight?"

Zatanna pushed some hair behind her ear, "I saw Andrew kissing some other girl when I left me last class. Dick and Babs were with me."
Selina shook her head, "Boys" she sighed exasperatedly. "Are you okay?"

Zatanna nodded, "Yeah actually, I talked about it with Artemis too, tonight helped. Plus it just seems like it doesn't matter compared to some of the things that happen to other people, like Greta."

Selina nodded, "Well just remember, just because you think some people have it harder, doesn't mean you aren't allowed to feel things. And, if you ever want to talk about anything, I'm always here."

Zatanna smiled, "Okay, thanks again, Selina."

"Anytime, Hun."

She was about to head upstairs when the batmobile busted through the water. She got nervous for a second, last time she had seen that, Dick had been hurt.

But this time when he stepped out he was perfectly fine. He made his way over to the showers, he shot herself and Selina a smile on his way over.

Batman passed her and then turned and handed her a few papers he must have grabbed from the desk. "Write down everything you can remember from what happened tonight."

Zatanna took the papers and nodded and Batman disappeared from view. Zatanna looked at Selina curiously.

"He likes to keep detailed reports," She shrugged, "He's probably just using this as practice."

"Oh." Zatanna sighed and sat in the other chair. She was almost finished when Dick appeared next to them.

She watched Selina slide her hand through his wet hair before going back to monitoring traffic cams on the huge screen. Zatanna went back to finishing her report.

"Anything interesting to report, Kitten?"

She heard him yawn, "Not really, just the usual."

"Mmm. Going to bed?"

"Yeah, I think so."

Zatanna didn't even hear him move but he was suddenly leaning against the desk between them. Zatanna finally finished her report and turned her chair to face him.

"How was your night?" He asked her, he was always a gentleman.

"Um, good. A lot happened but going out felt good." She smiled, "Actually I have a lot to tell you, and it has to do with a ghost. An actual ghost."

Dick's eyes widened and he smiled, "No way!"

Zatanna nodded, when Dick stood he motioned for her to follow and they made their way up the stairs.

They made it to the top of the stairs before Dick stopped her, "Oh, no uniforms in the house. Do you mind changing?"

Zatanna nodded, "egnahc sehtolc." The smoke cleared and she was in leggings and a hoodie.

Dick opened the entrance and they walked out.

"Okay, let me shower and then I can tell you about it, sound good?"

Dick nodded, "I'll be in my room."

"Okay!" She jogged ahead of him to shower and change. He had looked pretty tired, and now that she was thinking about it, she was too. So she made it a fast shower and headed to his room in her normal shorts and a tank.

She walked through his door and saw him sitting up and playing some game on his tv. She hopped onto his bed to wait, she didn't get nervous about it anymore. At this point she was pretty used to the two of them sitting on one of their beds. Plus, she was starting to trust Dick more than pretty much anyone.

He turned the tv to a random channel instead of the game and faced her, "Alright, what happened, " He smiled at her again.

She took off explaining the story again and Dick looked interested the whole time.

"I can't believe you saw a real ghost, and on Halloween!" He said in awe.

Zatanna nodded excitedly, "I know!" She trailed off, "But, her brother did kind of ruin that for us, I still can't believe what he did."

Dick dropped a comforting hand on her shoulder, "Yeah, people can be kind of awful."

Zatanna nodded, "It's okay though, we helped her rest, that's all that mattered."

Dick dropped back into his pillows.

"What about you, what did you do?"

Dick sighed, "Well, B and I went on patrol after we took care of some stuff at the cave. But nothing spooky happened to us." He added with a laugh.

Zatanna nodded and opened her mouth but Dick cut her off.

"So, are you okay? You don't want to talk about anything else?" He asked her seriously.

She took hold of his hand, "Dick, I'm really okay. I don't think Andrew actually meant that much to me."

Dick searched her face before nodding. He squeezed her hand before dropping back onto the pillows.

"So much for Bruce's nine o'clock rule." Dick laughed.

Zatanna raised her eyebrows, she had actually forgotten all about Bruce's rule that said they couldn't be in each other's rooms past nine.

"Oh yeah" She laughed with him. "Honestly I forgot about that."

"I'm sure it's fine," Dick reassured her, "Besides, the door is open."

Zatanna nodded, "Yeah, that should be fine."

They sat in comfortable silence for a while and watched the cop show that happened to be playing. Dick still leaning against his pillows, and Zatanna was sitting up next to him. She hadn't even realized she was still holding his hand.

When the episode ended Zatanna shifted, and glanced at the clock. It was almost two in the morning! They had to be up by eight to get breakfast and then work out. But...Zatanna wasn't tired anymore. And one glance at Dick told her that he wasn't feeling tired anymore either.

"You think we should go to bed?" Zatanna asked him. Holding back a laugh.

He grinned at her, "We do have to be up sorta early." He said, and then he countered himself with, "But, I'm not really tired."

"Me neither." She sighed, then she sat up straighter and turned to him, "Okay! How about a scary movie?"

He laughed again, "Alright, what did you have in mind?"

"Something really scary! Like 'The Conjuring' or 'Annabelle'!" She said excitedly.

"Okay one second," He sat up and let go of her hand so that he could get the remote.

"I'm gonna get us some blankets!" She hurried over to her room and grabbed two of her fuzzy blankets. When she got back, Dick was on a streaming site renting 'Annabelle'.

"Have you seen it?" He asked her, she shook her head.

"Have you?"

"Yeah, but it was a long time ago and I don't really remember anything." She tossed him a blanket and he let it fall into his lap before tilting his head.

"We're missing something." He told her.

She smirked, "Snacks?"

"Yup!" He hopped off of the bed, "I'll be right back."

He disappeared out of the room and Zatanna hopped back onto the bed. She unfolded her blanket and draped it over herself and she laid back against his pillows she waited. He was back soon with two bowls of ice cream. He set one of them on her lap and hopped onto the bed with his. When he settled onto the bed he pulled her blanket onto himself and picked up the remote.

"Ready?" he asked her. Zatanna nodded and he pushed play.

Dick was glad that she had this idea. It was really nice having someone else his age to hang out with, especially when it was her. They both finished their ice cream pretty quickly and he set their bowls onto his nightstand.

By the first jump scare she had jumped and landed right next to him. A little bit through the movie she had found his hand again and he smiled. He gave her hand a little squeeze and she smiled at him.

When the movie got to the elevator part Zatanna had her other hand latched onto his arm. She squeezed his bicep as the woman kept falling over on the screen.
"Oh come on!" Zatanna whispered, " Get up faster!"

Dick laughed quietly at her and she turned her head toward his. He didn't realize just how close her face was to his until now.

"You're not scared?" Zatanna asked him skeptically.

"Not really." He answered and turned his head back to the screen.

But the next jump scare got him too. Zatanna was practically on his lap at this point. They both laughed and Zatanna made no move to scoot away. Dick smiled to himself, he could get used to this.

Although, he probably shouldn't. She was probably still upset about Andrew. Plus Dick knew she wasn't handling her father's absence in a healthy way. And she was training for real now. Neither of them could afford this. At the moment though, he didn't care.

They finished the rest of the movie like that. Zatanna would still squeeze his arm every once in a while. When the movie ended he looked over at her and she wore the same smile he did. She looked over at him, Dick was once again aware of how close her face was to his. He glanced down at her lips, not really able to help it, and she smiled a bit more.

"What?" She asked him.

His gaze traveled back to her eyes, "Nothing."

"Mmm." She hummed and ducked her head onto his shoulder. She wrapped both of her arms around him in a hug. He smiled again and wrapped his arms round her too.

"Thank you." She sighed.

"What for?" He asked her.

"All of this." She said and looked up at him again, "And for always being here."

"Anytime." He said quietly to her.

"Well, I'm gonna go to bed." She said. She did sound a bit sleepy.

"Okay," he let his arms slide off of her, "I'll see you in the morning, Zee."

She pulled away from him and her arms glided off of his body. She grabbed her blanket and hopped off of the bed. She smiled at him one more time before walking through his door and closing it behind her.

Dick grinned to himself and collapsed down onto the pillows. He just couldn't stop smiling! He looked over to the door and pulled the blanket she had left up to his chin. Maybe Zatanna was feeling the same thing.
