Bellamy had made sure that Octavia was well settled, Indra by her side, before going to Clarke, Abby, Madi and Tram, who were observing the people coming out of the bunker.

"So, what now?" Tram wondered. "We're out, great, but where are we going?"

They all turned to Clarke and Madi, who exchanged a knowing glance.

"We know a place." Clarke simply answered, putting her arm around Madi's shoulders.

"Will there be enough room for so many people?" asked Bellamy, septic.
"We'll work it out."
"Hey, you guys." Raven exclaimed, walking towards them. "Almost everyone is out. Kane and Jaha will get inside and check to make sure no one or nothing is left behind."
"Where are the others?" Bellamy asked, looking for his friends.
"Talking to everyone." She laughed and added, "Miller almost started crying when he saw Monty."
"I'm not even surprised." Bellamy joked.

Things were going well. They were all together. Abby had predicted that Octavia would heal. Out of the bunker, their problems would probably disappear, right? Everything was going too well. Nothing could stay that way.

The first shots sounded in the air, threatening the peace and calm that was present. Many screamed, children cried, others were stunned to see 5 bodies fall dead on the ground, victims of a bullet in the heart. Those who had weapons stand ready immediately, all set to attack this ever-invisible enemy.

With a quick movement, Clarke moved Madi so that she was hidden behind her back and got her gun ready for whatever was coming. Bellamy then moved, almost unconsciously, weapon in hand, as to protect the other side of Madi. Together, they wouldn't let anything happen to her.

"Fuck." He curses. "The Miners. They're here."
"Nobody moves!" a man's voice ordered. "Nobody moves, and we won't kill anyone anymore."
"What do they want?" Abby asked as she searched through the crowd for Kane's face, which looked just as frantic as her. And everyone around them.
"Drop your weapons." The voice ordered again. "Or we shoot."

Then, in a perfectly coordinated movement, ten red dots appeared on the chest of the people targeted by the weapons. Including Eban, in Murphy's arms, - who seemed ready to kill all the Miner's guards with his bare hands - and Tram. The crowd had a moment of panic when they realized that, of the ten targets, seven were children or teenagers.

Bellamy and Clarke exchanged a look after watching Madi, who clung to them with panic. She could very well be next. She was, for now, well protected by the others around her, but she was not untouchable. Especially if they killed them all before shooting her. Plus, they couldn't let Eban, or Tram, or any of the others die. It wasn't an option.
But on the other hand, if they dropped their weapons, they were at their total mercy.

"Drop now!"

A gunshot rang out and a woman fell to the ground, resulting in a howl from her seven-year-old daughter, who was the real target, but who had been dragged out of the way by her mother at the last second.

"We don't hurt children." Maxim had once said to Clarke.

Things had changed quite drastically, apparently.

In a collective movement, the weapons were put on the ground. Clarke could feel her hands shaking with fear. A year ago, she never would've believed she could miss the days where she and Madi were literally alone in the world. But hell, if she could go back…

When the Miners guards apparently decided that there was no danger for them anymore, they came out of hiding between the trees and slowly approached, still targeting the nine targets, plus a new one. A little boy. No more than nine years old.

"What's wrong with them?" everyone was wondering. No one expected this to happen now. Most of them thought that they were safe on Earth, now. No one expected a new enemy.

The man at the head of the group raised a hand in the air, signaling his men to stop moving forward.

"We only want a few of you; the others will be free to leave without any problems."

The silence of the crowd encouraged him to continue.

"Let us do what we are here for, and no other harm will be done to you."

He nodded to his men, who moved quickly to their new targets. Cries echoed as they wandered through the crowd, finally shutting down when the leader fired a shot in the air.
Several men headed straight for Bellamy, Clarke, Madi, Tram, Abby and Raven. They tried to fight back, but it was a lost cause. They had pointed their weapons at Madi and they would fire without hesitation. They all knew it. And they wouldn't risk it.

Besides, they had guns, and they didn't. Not anymore. They were totally fucked. Simple as that.

Bellamy looked at Clarke, who was whispering comforting words to Madi.

"It won't stop there. It can't be the end. Not after everything." He thought as they fall on their knees, hands in the air.

Then, they must have been hit to the head, because the darkness enveloped them.

Gellert and Echo watched, slightly apart from the guards, as they putted the inert bodies of Octavia, Abby, Bellamy and Clarke in a cell. Gellert turned around, waiting to see Raven into the arms of another guard, but they came back empty-handed.

"Where is the other girl, Raven Reyes?"

The guards exchanged glances, understanding the extent of their mistake. The man who had led the operation stepped forward and cleared his throat uncomfortably.

"It looks like we forgot to take her, sir."
"Sorry?" Echo asked, convinced to have misunderstood.
"We forgot her. She's not here."

Gellert sighed.

"What a sad ending."
"Sir -" the man started, before being shot in the head.
"As I said," continued Gellert, putting his weapon back, "What a sad ending."

The guards were silent, completely stunned. Gellert grabbed Echo by the arm and pulled her out, as the guards started whispering with each others.

"If Raven is still there, with them ... it's not good for us. She's smarter than what you could ever imagine." Echo said.
"But she does not have the qualities of a leader."
"Oh yes, she certainly does. And there is still Indra, Jaha, Kane ... You told me you couldn't catch them all at once, and I understand. It was too risky. But they still have leaders who can very well predict their revenge."
"Then we will go to them and kill them, too."
"At this rate, it would be a lot simpler if we kill them all. Leave no survivors. We don't know if their people will bond with us afterwards. They might not."
"We've lost the surprise effect. They will know we're coming now."
"Not if we let them come to us, first."

Gellert paused to look at her.

"What do you mean?"

"Let us think we're fools. Let them come to us, thinking that they will bring back those four idiots. Thinking that they will win this war. And then, we show them the heads of their beloved leaders. And we kill them all. They won't expect us to be this ready. Get everyone who can fight ready. Even the oldest kids. Make them ready to die for you."
"You know what, darling? The more you're around, and the more I love you."

--

When Bellamy woke up, he wasn't even surprise to find himself in the cell with the others. He sat and looked around. He thought that it was the same cell where he had found Madi.

Clarke was right by his side, slowly waking up too, frowning and touching the fresh blood on her forehead.

"Great." She muttered, sitting up. "You alright?" she asked him.
"I'm fine." He said, and took her chin in his hands to look at her wound. "It doesn't look so bad."
"Yours do, though."
"I barely feel it."

She raised her hand and he felt his whole-body shudder as she put her hand on his cheek.

"It'll leave a scar."
"I should survive."
"Guys, is this really the right time for this?" Octavia muttered from her corner of the cell.

Uncomfortable, they parted and approached Octavia, who sit up painfully. She didn't look good, but maybe slightly better than before. At least, she was able to sit. Granted, she looked like she was going to pass out any seconds now, but still.

"Honestly, I think I don't even want to know where we are."
"We are at the Miners headquarters, aren't we?" Abby asked, her eyes still closed.
"Yeah, in their prison."
"They even have a prison. This starts just great." Octavia commented, sarcastic.
"They're going to kill us, aren't they?" Abby asked, finally opening her eyes and looking straight at Clarke.
"I don't know." She lied, knowing damn well what the Miners, or rather, Gellert, wanted.
"I don't believe you." Abby said, knowing her daughter and telling without any doubts that she was lying.
"We need a plan." Contemplate Bellamy. "The others might come to us, but we can't bet on it."
"We can just die." Octavia muttered.
"What?" Clarke interjected. "You can't be serious."
"That's what we deserve."
"Octavia, the thing we did before Praimfaya… It was in another life." Abby said, a hand on her shoulder. "You can forgive yourself."
"I'm not talking about this. I'm talking about what happened in the bunker."

Bellamy and Clarke looked at each other, then at Abby, thinking that she was understanding what Octavia was talking about. But just like them, she was completely lost.

"O, what are you talking about?"

Octavia looked at her brother, all the guilt in the world in her eyes.

"I'm a monster, Bell. That's what I'm talking about. I deserve to die."
