Family Matters

Chapter 18

Days turned to weeks. Eventually months. Seasons changed and life went on. Days after his 12th birthday. Jamie and I re visited his doctor it reached the point in his treatment where we were at last able to see how exactly the chemo and radiation were affecting the cancer as a whole.

The doctor took out his file read it over to herself then looked to us.

"You have given this intense course of treatment everything you have. I applaud you're effort and strength Jamie. You too of course Haley. Having family and friendship as a support system is vital. I wish i had better news but the cancer has progressed. And this treatment plan isn't working. They way we hoped. I'm sorry to the both of you. I have a list of alternative avenues we could try. The woman said. Handing over to Haley multiple pamphlets.

"Thank you for all you've done for me and my son." Haley said.

Sometime Later

Haley locked all the doors to her car once she and Jamie were settled into their seats.

"Today didn't come with the results we wanted but we can and will keep trying." Haley said.

Jamie took a deep breath and looked over at his mother.

"I don't want to waste the time i have left in and out of hospitals doing experimental trials that won't gurantee anything. I want to stop undergoing treatments and just live out the rest of my days with everyone i love and care about." Jamie confessed.

Sometime Later

"He is too young to make such a big decision. You are his mother it is up to you to decide." Lydia James said. Looking to her daughter.

"I'm not going to force him to undergo treatment he doesn't want. It's his body he has to deal with the side affects. I am going to support him and put him first." Haley said.
