Sarah led Chuck to a decidedly seedier part of town.

"Who are we going to see?" He asked.

"A friend of mine. We trained together and did a few missions," came her answer. Chuck couldn't pick up what was wrong.

"What's wrong, Sarah?"

"Look, Chuck, I'm not worried about you," she assured him. "It's her. She's, well, very forward. And she loves taking what I want."

"What do you mean?"

She just laughed and shook her head. He could still be so clueless sometimes.

"You, you idiot. She's going to see right away. I'm not trying to hide it. It's written all over my face. I'm in love with you, and she's going to figure it out quickly."

"So?"

"It's our training, Chuck. We were taught personal relationships are a liability in the field, that it would affect our focus. I've pretty much gone against everything we learned. She's not just gonna give me shit for that, though. When we were on missions together, and remember, this was way before I met you, I was a different person."

"How so?"

"It's like I told you. I only thought about completing my mission and moving on to the next one. You forget about the people you meet, the assets you burned, the enemies you killed. But now, those aren't my priorities anymore. You're my number one priority. And it's going to drive her nuts."

"Do you want to talk to her alone first?"

"Nope," she shook her head. "I want to see the look on her face."

With that, they had arrived at the building Sarah thought her friend was in. They went up three flights of stairs and arrived at a door.

Sarah knocked, and it only took a second for the door to swing open. Standing there was a beautiful, redheaded woman. Chuck had to admit to himself how gorgeous she really was, though she couldn't hold a candle to Sarah.

"Sarah?"

"Hi, Carina."

Carina looked at the two of them, then down to where their hands were firmly locked together.

"Who's this tall dark and handsome gentleman?" She purred, reaching out to gently rub Chuck's arm. He quickly retracted it like she had a knife.

"This is Chuck," Sarah proudly told her. "My fiancé."

"Fiancé?" Carina asked incredulously. "Come in first. Then we'll talk."

They followed Carina into the room, which was a simple hotel room. Chuck and Sarah sat on the couch, still holding hands, while Carina sat in a chair across from them.

"Are you on a mission?" Carina asked Sarah directly.

"Yes."

"Is this a cover?" She motioned to the two of them.

"No."

"Really?" She was grinning.

"Yes, really," Sarah smiled. "Chuck was assigned as my partner a few weeks ago."

"A few weeks?! And you're engaged?"

"Yup," she nodded. "I fell in love with him almost immediately. And if you ask him, he had already fallen for me."

"It was the first time you smiled at me," Chuck finally spoke for the first time, but he only looked at Sarah. "I was a goner."

Sarah couldn't help herself, so she leaned over and gave Chuck a kiss. Carina's grunt brought them back to reality.

"Think she knows Casey?" Chuck whispered, remembering the Major's arsenal of grunts. Sarah laughed and kissed him again quickly before turning back to Carina.

"We were in Normandy on D-Day," Sarah explained. Carina's eyes widened considerably.

"Were you in combat?"

"Yeah. A few miles back from the beaches, with some paratroopers."

"And Bryce," Chuck said so quietly they almost didn't hear him.

"Bryce?!" Carina exclaimed again. She looked at Sarah and asked a silent question. Sarah's glare told her the answer. "What was that fucker doing there? Shouldn't he be on some island working on his tan?"

Chuck grinned at Carina's obvious dislike of Bryce.

"Did he try to get in your pants again Walker?"

"Kind of," she admitted. "But I'm a one-man woman now. He means shit to me." The words were directed to Carina, but she was only looking into Chuck's eyes as she spoke. "And Carina, I'm not going to be Walker much longer."

"So you're really serious about this? What about your career?"

"Chuck transferred to OSS," Sarah explained. "We're partners now. After that, I don't know. I'm inclined to retire and have all Chuck's babies. But we need to win this war first."

At the mere mention of them having children together, Chuck's heart almost burst. He was still in a daze – it had only been mere hours ago that they had sat at that cafe by the Seine and he'd proposed marriage, albeit in a roundabout fashion.

"Kids? Really, Walker? You?"

"Yes," Sarah emphatically replied. "I can't explain it to you in a way you'd really understand. I'm sorry about that. We've had all the same training. I tried to deny it, Carina, I really did. I was cold to Chuck when we first met. I thought if I allowed myself to care, I'd be betraying who I was. But I was so fucking wrong. This is the real me, Carina. Chuck sees me, he sees right through me. And he loves me for me."

"She's not lying," Chuck supplied. "About anything. I love her. I'd do anything for her. If we weren't in the middle of this stupid war, I'd take her away from all of this and show her just how much I love her. That's exactly what I plan on doing."

"You're a spy, Sarah," Carina tried.

"Yeah, I am," she nodded her agreement. "But I'm also a person. I'm also a woman. And this woman is in love and doesn't care who knows or what anyone else thinks. I'm going to marry him. And as soon as I don't need to be a spy anymore, I'm done."

Sarah paused.

"But don't misunderstand us, Carina. We're both here to do our job. Ike sent us here to scope out the Nazi positions around the city. We have to take Paris."

"I can definitely help with that," Carina answered. "I've been in Paris for a while. I know the city like the back of my hand."

"Good," Chuck said. "Let's get to work."

Carina broke out a map of Paris and the three of them diligently went over it. She pointed out positions she knew of, where and when the Gestapo patrolled, and a lot of other useful intel. Eventually Carina and Sarah went out to bring back food for them, and they ate in comfortable silence.

"So, Chuck," Carina began when they were finished eating. "How did such a good looking, smart guy like you end up in the Army?"

Sarah almost laughed at loud. She'd warned Chuck about Carina. But that didn't really matter. What mattered was that she trusted him implicitly.

"I was ROTC at Stanford," Chuck answered politely. "When I went to OCS they sent me to Ranger School. I fought in North Africa and Italy. Then I jumped intro France and met Sarah."

"Right, you met Sarah," Carina repeated. "And tell me, how do you feel about her?"

Chuck thought to himself for a moment. Hadn't he already answered this? He decided to keep it simple.

"I love her."

"You said that."

"So?" He shot back. "That's not good enough for you?"

"It's not that-"

"I love her, Carina. I'm hers. If anybody even looks at her the wrong way, I'll put a bullet in their head." Sarah almost blurted out he'd already done just that – multiple times – but she kept her mouth shut. "And for some reason, which for the life of me I can't figure out, she loves me. I'm never letting her out of my sight."

Carina finally had been put in her place enough that she sat back and just smiled at the pair of them.

"Good," she finally said. "I'm happy for both of you then."

"Wait," Sarah put up her hand, then turned to Chuck. "What do you mean you can't figure out why I love you? This again, Chuck? Really? Did I not agree to marry you? Did I not just tell Carina that I want to quit and raise a family with you? What do you need from me?"

Chuck felt horrible. Sarah didn't need to prove anything to him.

"It's not you," he whispered. "It's me, Sarah. I promise. I know how much you love me, I swear."

"It's okay," Sarah soothed once she saw his distress. "I guess I'll just have to show you every day now, won't I? I guess it's a good thing I'm going to be your wife." Now she was grinning again.

Carina just sat there, completely flabbergasted at the change she saw in Sarah. Her jaw hung wide open. Sarah noticed after a moment.

"What?"

"You," Carina pointed at her, matching her grin. "You're out of control."

"I told you I was serious," Sarah deadpanned.

"I see that now."

"Good. So you know to keep your hands away from my fiancé, unless you'd like to lose some digits. We sparred a lot in training, Carina, and I'd caution you to never forget who won those fights."

"Understood."

"Now, Chuck and I are going back to our hotel. Let's meet tomorrow for breakfast and come up with some plans. The sooner we take Paris the better."

"Sounds good," Carina nodded.

"You said you know the city really well, right Carina?" Sarah asked, a twinkle in her eye Carina couldn't decipher.

"Yeah," she replied cautiously.

"I know it's a long shot, but you wouldn't happen to know of any Rabbis left in the city, would you?"

"A Rabbi? Why do you need a Rabbi?"

"I'm sick and tired of being Chuck's fiancé. I want to marry him."

"You want to have a Jewish wedding in a Nazi-occupied city?" Carina almost couldn't believe what she was hearing.

Sarah just shrugged. Chuck looked on in sheer amazement.

"Why not?" Sarah dipped her shoulder again. "Obviously, Chuck needs to be okay with it though."

"I'm good," he eked out. Both the women laughed.

"Well, believe it or not," Carina began, a devilish smile on her face. "I do know a Rabbi. He and his family have been in hiding for years. I've helped them a few times."

"Great, so why don't we go see him tomorrow, if we can?"

"Are we really getting married?" Chuck finally spoke up.

"Looks that way," Sarah gave him a kiss.

She stood up and reached out for Chuck's hand, helping him as he stood.

"Let's go, Chuck," she nodded her head towards the door. "I want to go have sex as an engaged couple a few more times."

"Here we go," Chuck muttered giddily as he followed his blonde fiancé out the door.
