When Vala and Daniel had finally pulled away from each other, Landry ordered both of them to the infirmary with Teal'c accompanying them. Cam followed Landry and Sam into the board room for a quick debrief.

And it was quick, all things considering. They gave him a rundown of everything that happened and discussed the possibility of an alliance with the people of the planet. Except for a few clarifying questions, Landry stayed quiet through the debrief. Right about the time when Cam expected to be told to hit the showers, Landry looked at both of them sternly and asked, "Colonels, are we going to have a problem here?"

After a moment's hesitation, Cam echoed Sam's immediate response of "No, Sir." So far, Cam thought they had been doing a decent job of hiding whatever the hell was going on between them. Then again, Jackson had managed to see it, and he had been pretty out of it, so maybe they weren't as great at acting as he thought.

"Are you sure?" Landry questioned. "Because I'm seeing the potential for a pretty big problem, and I don't like dealing with drama, especially on my flagship team."

"We'll handle it, Sir," Cam insisted, hoping that would be the end of it.

"See that you do, Colonel," Landry replied. "I don't like to be a hard-ass, but romances on military teams like this rarely end well. We don't need this to get messy. Dismissed."

Cam felt his eyes go wide as he suddenly realized that Landry wasn't talking about drama between him and Sam. It was the whole thing between Daniel and Vala that he was worried about. He sort of stumbled out of his chair as he got up to leave and quickly followed Sam out of the room and down the stairs. When they were out of ear shot of the general, he grabbed her arm and pulled her into an empty hallway.

"Alright, we need to talk about this now," he hissed at her. "Landry's right, we don't need drama on our team."

"Tell that to Daniel and Vala," was Sam's reply.

"You know that's not what I'm talking about. Sam, we are back on Earth, and our team is safe. We are talking about this now."

Sam sighed and then nodded curtly at him. "Fine. What do you want to say?"

"I wanna know if this is gonna be an issue!" Cam exclaimed. "Look, I can't give you orders; you can't give me orders. That's never been an problem before, but now . . . I don't know, is it?"

"No." Sam's face softened. "You're the team lead, Cam. You make the calls. I should have backed off."

"Yeah, okay, maybe. But that's not the real issue here, is it? Sam, you've been in command. You were in command of Atlantis! Are you really okay with taking my lead again?"

"It doesn't matter. I'm a part of SG-1, and SG-1 is under your command."

"You don't have to stay here, Sam. You could have a team of your own, if you want. Hell, you could go anywhere you want."

"Cam, do you want me to leave the team?"

"What? No! I don't want you leave! I worked my butt off to put this team together!" Sam gave him a small smile. "But I don't want a team that doesn't work, and this team won't work if you're not 100% here. Sam, you have every right to want more than this."

"And what if I don't? You're right, Cam; I've had a taste of command, and I enjoyed it. But I feel at home here. Teal'c and Daniel, even you and Vala, have become my family. I'm not sure I'm ready to leave that yet."

Cam nodded. "I get that, Sam. Believe me; I'd like you to stay." He paused for a minute, wrestling with his next words. "I just need to know that you will follow my lead for as long as you're on my team."

Sam looked shocked at his bluntness, but covered it up quickly. "I will."

He decided to leave it at that. He knew this wasn't the end of it, but at least they had addressed it, and he could breathe a little easier. They were home; they were safe; and at least two people on the team were happy. Life could certainly be worse.

End of Part 2! Stay tuned for the third installment, which I'm really excited about! We get to see how/if Daniel and Vala make their relationship work, what happens to Sam and Mitchell's working relationship, and a nice helping of Daniel whump!
