Kristoff carried Anna to his sled and he and Elsa journeyed all the way to the Valley of the Living Rocks, when they got there they were met by a rolling stone that stopped by them and unrolled. revealing to be Grand Pabbie.
"Pabbie, I... we need your help." Elsa tells him.
"Can you get rid of whatever Hans did to her mind?" Elsa asked him.
Pabbie sighed, "I cannot help with that, but you can." He answered.
"Me!" Elsa said in shock, Pabbie nodded. "How?"
"You have to enter her mind, help her get rid of it." The old rock troll told her.
"Enter into her mind." Elsa repeated as she looked upon the unconscious Anna.
It was a hard decision but Elsa had faced harder decisions and right now she wasn't about to let her sister stay like this. It was this option or nothing and Anna was a fighter.
"I'll do it. For her. I couldn't save her years ago, now I will."
"Good, now lay her on the table." Pabbie ordered Kristoff.
Kristoff placed Anna on a stone table and Elsa laid down next to her, "I'm going to get you out of this Anna, I promise."
"Are you ready Elsa?" The rock troll asked the Queen
Elsa nodded.
"Close your eyes, Elsa...and relax. Breathe deeply. Let all life around you fade out into the background...until the only thing you can hear is nothing."
Elsa breathes in and out repeatly.
"Focus on a spot in the center of your forehead. Feel that spot getting further away as you drift off to sleep. I want you to relax your physical body and let the astral body gain strength...feel it rising out of your chest."
Kristoff and the other rock trolls watches on, Elsa breathes deeply her eyes shut tightly. "Detach yourself."
Her eyes open suddenly and she gets off the stone table. He turns around and stops dead.
She sees her own body, laying down on the stone table with Anna, eyes closed. Grand Pabbie is standing opposite, with his back to the Elsa who is now standing. The Valley is exactly as it was - only Kristoff and the other rock trolls have disappeared. They are nowhere to be seen.
Stunned, Elsa stares at her own body in the stone table. Slowly, Grand Pabbie turns his head away from the Elsa on the table, staring eerily into the standing Elsa's eyes.
He can see her. "Now you are free. Keep your guide, and a steady stride...and into The Further you go." He turns back to the Elsa laying down on the table.
The Valley seems to have darkened even more somehow. Elsa turns and glares into the darkness of a path as it yawns outwards, eventually swallowed by complete blackness. She appears to be in the castle of Arendelle.
Elsa moves forward, gliding down the hallway slowly. She looks down and sees that her feet are slightly raised off the ground. She's floating. She moves into the darkness of the hall...past bedroom doors and other doors. As she floats past, she scans every darkened corner for the slightest trace of movement. She reaches the front door, she moves towards it and as she does it opens. A blinding white light fills the room. She is in the village square, far away from the castle. Some lights flicker from within the houses, but no movement or signs of human forms. Only mist. Elsa floats an inch above the pathway, moving down the path.
One thing to notice is that there is a total lack of horizon or city scape here...Josh's immediate surroundings are visible for about one hundred yards or so...anything beyond that, in any direction, fades into blackness. As if someone were shining a giant spotlight down on him.
Back in the Valley, Pabbie watches Elsa. She is completely still...in a trance. Her eyelids flutter as her eyeballs probe in all directions underneath. " She's in..."
Elsa keeps moving, she looks down at her feet. She is frustrated that she can't move any faster. She concentrates with fierce intensity- -and then watches as her feet touch the ground.
She walks to the castle and she starts to move faster, gaining control of his movement. She enters the castle and is surrounded by many doors that appear to be chained and locked as if someone was trying to not let anyone open them.
"Why are those doors locked?" She wondered.
An echoing and familiar voice answered her question, "Those doors open to every single one of Anna's memory. But when she became the Soldier, those doors were chained shut. Now, the Soldier rules the mind. But if you and Anna defeat her there, Anna's memories will be unlocked."
"Anna?" The sound of her voice is strangely dead.
"Anna? Where are you?" For a long time, there is nothing... no answer, no movement... nothing.
Then she sees it. A figure...shrouded in shadow. Standing on the balcony with his back to Elsa. Elsa moves towards the figure. Closer. Closer. The figure vanishes when Elsa comes closer. There is nobody there. She continues walking down the hallway. She sees a little girl. Far in the end of the hallway, but close enough to focus on. She stands and stares... ...then turns and walks away. Gone...like an apparition. She looks to her right and sees- a tall shadow. Behind a curtain in one of the windows, back lit by candle light. As with the others, the shadow turns away and disappears. Elsa walks towards the door at the end of the hallway.
She reaches it and turns the handle. Elsa walks into the corridor, looking to her left and right; more locked and chained up doors. Elsa keeps moving down the corridor. Up ahead, she sees a figure run past the top of the hall, ignoring her. She presses forward, following the figure. She passes a door that is partly open. She pushes it wide open.
She is in another corridor, a longer one.
A figure suddenly appears at the end of the hallway. "I know you are here...I hear you..." They approach her.
"There is a place that you can't go to and that is where the person you seek shall be... you have to find it."
They are only a few yards from Elsa now. "YOU MADE THE MISTAKE OF COMING HERE! I'M GOING TO MAKE SUFFERING A BLESSING FOR YOU! I'M GOING TO ENJOY RIPPING YOU APART!" The figure charges at Elsa, revealing it to be the Soldier. Elsa struggles. The Soldier attacks her viciously, strangling her.
Back in the valley, Elsa's body jolts on the stone table and she makes a noise, a combination of a scream and a moan. "What's happening to her?!" Kristoff asked. Pabbie leans in, attempting to communicate with Elsa. "You're stronger then they are, Elsa. Anna needs you!"
Then something changes in Elsa- she gets angry. "Get...off..me!" She shoves the Soldier back, pounding into her with the strength of a thousand men. The Soldier retreats, backing away until she is swallowed up by the blackness.
"You won't find her, you'll never find her. Her mind belongs to me."
Suddenly, she hears crying echoing in the hallway. Elsa follow the cries and finds herself in a ballroom and it was as if the palace was stormed by thieves, the occupants murdered and the place left to rot. Mold caked pillars support a ceiling of gold flakes, the rest having rotted way. Mirrors line the walls, their surface too clouded to see into. She weaves between pillars, finally coming across a figure slumped on the floor in the corner like a dog. It's Anna, but she appears to be very young and little.
Elsa runs to her, her hands are chained to the wall behind her, when she got closer, the little Anna tried to back away as if she was scared of Elsa. "I-I'm going to hurt you..." She told her.
"Anna, do you recognize me? It's me, Elsa." She tells her.
"Elsa never comes out of her door." The little Anna said.
"Well... Elsa came out here to save you. I came here for you." Elsa sees a sword piled up in a large pile of discarded suits and armor.
"No... don't hurt me."
Elsa sighs, but she had an idea.
Yes I wanna build a snowman,
I'm sorry it took so long
I didn't know I needed you
I really do and now your gone
please just ask me once more
just one more time
I promise I'll open the doooooooor
I wanna build a snowman
With you
Elsa then felt a hug and she saw that little Anna hugged her. "I'm here, Anna. I promise this time, I'm not going to leave you." Elsa uses the sword to destroy the chains that connected Anna. She sees that little Anna is terrified, looking over her shoulder. "What is it?" She glances back, spotting an open door at the end of the ballroom, light spilling from within it; there is somebody inside. But that somebody took a few steps out of the door and it reveals to be The Soldier.
"Elsie, let's get out of here."
"No, you can get rid of her." Elsa tells the little Anna.
"She has been holding you back for years, you can defeat her and take back control of your mind."
"I...don't know... if I can."
"I know you can. You told me once that you believed in me, now I believe in you." The Soldier looks at them coldly and runs over to them pushing Elsa so far back with her metal arm. "This mind belongs to me." Elsa smashes her head on a pillar, Elsa scrambles to her feet and snatches up little Anna, carrying her to the ballroom door as the Soldier pursues them. Elsa surges down a corridor, carrying little Anna. The Soldier runs behind them, her angry yells and growling growing in volume. "I am in charge of her mind! You won't get out of here."
Elsa stampedes through the main door of the castle - but instead being outside the castle, she is facing another corridor. They spill into the second corridor, running again, racing past rows and rows of locked and chained doors. "Anna... when she appeared, did you hide?"
"Yeah."
"Where? We need to hide from her." Elsa tells her. "Put me down and I'll lead you." She tells Elsa. Elsa nodded and let little Anna go, she began to run.
Elsa follows the little girl to a door. She staggers towards it, she slams the door open, falling through it into the dungeon, but the dungeon appears to be more longer. Little Anna takes a few steps more and Elsa was about to follow until The Soldier appears in front of them, "Get behind me, Anna." Elsa ordered. The little Anna did what she was told as Elsa glared at the Soldier.
"Give back the little girl and I'll let you leave this place." The Soldier ordered.
"No, this place is my sister's mind, its not yours to rule. Now leave!"
"The only reason I exist is your fault. You didn't save her, you failed to protect to protect her. Now, she's gone, turned into something new and stronger. All that's left of the person you hold so dear is that little girl who's to scared to fight." The Soldier says. Before she says another word, the Soldier tries to attack but Elsa created an ice shield between them. Realizing what happened, The Soldier punches the ice wall using her metal arm. "This ice barrier won't protect you for long."
Elsa felt her hand being grabbed and she was being pulled, little Anna was leading her somewhere, somewhere safe.
Little Anna led her way up the castle where they stopped at a door, but this door was different than others door, this one was not locked nor chained.
"Where does this lead to?"
"Out of here." The little Anna answered.
"What?"
"You...need to get out of here! Out of my mind!" Little Anna ordered Elsa.
"No, I'm not leaving you, I promised I would get you back! If you think I'm letting you fight her, I'm not letting that happen!."
"I think I can deal with her. If you stay here and I lose, you'll be stuck in here forever." Little Anna explained.
Then, an arrow flies past them, missing them by an inch. They turn around to see The Soldier a few feet away from them, Elsa conjures thousands of snowballs to her but the Soldier avoids the snowball. "If you can have your ice magic in here, then I can too. After all... this mind belongs to me."
Pulling her hands back, The Soldier produces a ball fire between them and swings it forward to throw a mighty burst at her enemies, Elsa creates another ice shield. It breaches the shield, and a second shot blows it apart altogether. There is a great cloud of dust, when it clears, Elsa is still on her feet, arms crossed to protect her head and Little Anna is behind her.
"Run." Elsa tells the little Anna. She did, but runs towards The Soldier thinking she can outrun her, but the Soldier snatches her with one arm. Elsa sends another ice blast but the blast is blocked when the Soldier raises a forearm, but with the chest left wide open, a second shot finds its mark. The Soldier stumbles backward, letting go of the little Anna. They run away from the Soldier, they hide in a room.
"You alright?" Elsa asked.
Little Anna nodded.
"You need to help me." Elsa tells her.
"Huh?"
"He's too strong. Even with my ice magic, I can't stop him, but if you and I work together, we can and you can regain control of your mind. Because when we're together, we can do anything. You think you can do that?"
"I...I'll try."
"Not try, you can do it." Elsa says, she hears footsteps approaching. Elsa peeks behind the door and sees the Soldier nearby. A couple of fire blasts sends some doors near them explode.
"When you go out that door, it means that you are choosing to fight her and if not then you are letting her control your mind and I will leave. What's your choice?"
Little Anna looks at Elsa, she then made a face, a face Elsa knew the meaning of. "Go for it! I got your back and remember, its your mind, you can do what you want here." Little Anna ran out of the door, "Hey you looking for me, I'm right here!" She says calling to the Soldier. A small smile crosses her face and then disappears as she closes her eyes and begins to concentrate. Opening her eyes, she crosses her arms in front of herself and a sudden gust of wind stirs the dust at her feet. Elsa watches as 4 more Annas rise from the ground, they look similar but they have different colored hair. They scatter; and they form a large circle around her. All rise into the air and hover several feet above the ground, and the seven doubles start to spin about her center point, faster and faster until they are visible only as colored blurs, all of them attacking the Soldier with different magic; fire, air, water, earth. The Soldier counters their attacks with fire and her metal arm.
Brown haired Anna hurls a mass of stones, which forms itself into rock walls that encircles the Soldier tightly from shoulders to waist. Her next words take on a very deep and terrible tone.
"You don't belong here!"
The Soldier breaks loose of her trap, she sends two huge fire beams from her hand towards the brown haired Anna. The two energies meet at a point between them but cancel out when very red haired Anna comes in between and absorbs the fire and fires them back to the Soldier. She looks at the Soldier, revealing her glowing red eyes. She attempts to blast the Soldier but before she could even attack the Soldier, she sends a giant fire orb, sending her back only to be caught by Elsa.
"I gotcha. It's okay." Elsa tells to her
"Thanks."
"You think you can stop her with just other duplicated of you?" Elsa asks her.
"No, we can't. We need your help."
"Someone told me that if you combine ice magic and fire magic, it will cause so much destruction." Elsa explained.
"You think it will work?" Fire Anna asked.
"I hope so."
"Are you ready?" Elsa asked Fire Anna, she nods.
Elsa and Fire Anna sends a long mixture of ice magic and fire magic towards the Soldier, they notice that as the fire and ice touch, they explode. Then, the ice and fire circles around the Soldier, and it circle around her faster and faster and one second later, an explosion occurs, sending Elsa and Little Anna back and making the Anna duplicates vanish. The spot where the Soldier once stood was now empty, as if nobody ever stood on that spot.
As the Queen and Little Anna walked back to the door where it said that Elsa be out of the mind, they notice that the doors that were locked and chained were longer. They were opened and showing memories.
The Queen looked at Little Anna, "Think you can handle being by yourself in here?" She asked her. Little Anna smiled. Suddenly, she began to glow, not knowing what's happening, she closed her eyes and changed into someone Elsa hadn't seen in a while.
"Anna?"
"You did it... you got her out."
Elsa shook her head, "Not me, we did it together. Like we promised back then."
"Together." Anna smiled
Elsa gives Anna a hug, a tear streams down her face.
"I know you're not the real Anna, but it's been a while since..."
"I know..." Anna said.
"I'm sorry for pushing you away, I thought by doing that, you would be safe, but I was wrong."
"But you still got me back after fighting so hard to do it." Anna said, smiling.
The door opens, "See ya in the real world." Anna says before Elsa goes through the door.
Elsa opens her eyes, she is back in the Valley.
"Did you do it? Did she..." Kristoff asked when she opened her eyes.
Elsa smiled and nodded, "She's in control of her mind, we got the Soldier out of her head."
"But, even though the Soldier is no longer in control of Anna's mind, there are still traces of her inside Anna's mind, you do not have to go back. You can stay here and help her remove them." Grand Pabbie explained to them.
"What happens if she doesn't remove them?" Elsa wondered.
"Then The Soldier returns and regains power of her mind." The troll explained.
"In the case that The Soldier might return, chain her hands so she won't hurt any of you." He tells them, they nodded. Kristoff then picked Anna up and the they return to the castle.
The next day, Elsa went to Anna's room and she saw a guard who was standing by the door.
"How is she?" She asked the guard.
"She is awake Your Highness."
"Any sign of you-know-who coming from her?" She wondered.
"No, but she's trying to remove whatever's left of her inside." The guard informed her.
"Thank you." Elsa went in the room, Anna's hand is chained to her bed. For an hour Elsa watches over her as Anna tries to shake off any remnants of the Soldier in her mind, it was silent in the room until Anna broke the silence "Have you ever had someone take your brain and play? Pull you out and send someone else in? Do you know what it's like to be unmade?" Anna asked Elsa, looking at her.
"How many?"
"What?" Elsa wondered.
"How many did I hurt besides you?"
"Don't. Don't do that to yourself, Anna. This was Hans. This was someone we knew." Elsa told her.
"What happened to him... Hans?"
"He...killed himself like Jurgen... both of them drank a potion that could kill them." Elsa explained. "What do you know about those potions?"
"Years ago, he had a mission for the Soldier, he told her to kill the King and Queen of Corona and take the alchemist. They needed him because they knew someday they were going to get captured and be forced to tell what they have done. What I did still haunts me."
"That wasn't your doing, it was his. He brainwashed you, controlled you into doing his biddings." Elsa told Anna, who smiled at Elsa.
"Thank you."
"You know that Arendelle isn't complete without you." Elsa tells Anna.
"And you won't be either because you will always have me."
