Chapter 17: Ru

" There's no time to waste! Lightning, let's go!" I can see what happened. He passed out from sickness. That's another reason he wants to go to the wizard! He was sick himself, but didn't want to think about it! Aww, what a nice boy.

" Heeeeeeyaaaaa! Go, Lightning, hurry to the wizard!"

(1 hour later)

*Knock knock knock*

" Who is it?" A sweet little voice answered my knocks.

" I am a traveler er...I mean a reindeer that needs your help. My friend, Jas-I mean Jaxon. He is sick and has passed out." Better say a false name. Who knows who this wizard person is. For all I know, he could be a max murderer!

Griffin caws in alarm as Jason started shaking all over.

" Coming! Let me unlock the door quickly!"

The door opens to reveal a little short, hunchbacked elderly man (I think it's a man) draped in a big robe dotted with stars and constellations. A pointed wizard's cap covers his face.

The man yanks the cap off his head, revealing - WHAT? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!?

His face is a lion's head! Ahh! But as Lightning and I stand there gaping, he starts giggling, which quickly turns into a guffaw.

"Ha ha! Got you!" Huh. His voice is back to normal.

"I'm Sphinx, Mel the Wizard's student, though I work part-time in his office. Do not worry, I will take your friend to Mel. Come in!" Sphinx steps to the side of the doorway, revealing a crazy mess of flying books and powder and students sitting at tables, watching someone at the head of the room, who must be their teacher.

"I am sorry! This is the library, where animal/man students come-if they dare- to study magic and healing. But this is not the healing room, where patients are taken."

Sphinx takes us down a narrow corridor to a majestic set of tall doors. He pulls out a fancy key out of his pocket and sticks it into the keyhole. The doors open with a creak, revealing a elderly man hunched over beakers and test tubes. Lightning and I haul Jason into the dark, tall room.

"Master, there is an emergency! This young man has passed out, due to sickness, his friends say. Can you take them into your room?"

"Thank you, Sphinx." His voice is musty and crackling.

The Wizard gestures us to a small door. "Bring him in here, and you may wait while I put on the medicine."

"Can't me and my friend Lightning stay in the room while you place the medicine?" I ask.

"Very well, it is fine. I can see you are very kind and protective friends." He smiles mysteriously, which makes me wonder whether he knows the truth. I begin sweating.

But then I realize he's waiting for a reply. "Well, er, yes, we care a lot about our friend."

Lightning and I carry Jason through the tiny doorway, Lightning flying and me trotting. Inside, an assorted amount of bottles and containers line the shelves and a large, stained glass window is above the small cot. There is a stool and two chairs next to the cot.

"Lay him down on the cot, please," The Wizard was pulling bottles of medicine from the shelves, green bubbly stuff and purple liquid.

"Whoa. Now, just what are you gonna do to my friend Jaxon?" I ask, I just can't help it.

"Young man, I know his name is Jason."
