Remnant's Guardian-18

~Scythe: POV~

"I can't exactly let you take the Relic of Knowledge." Leonardo said leading us to the entrance to the secret basement under the academy. "You don't even have the Spring Maiden with you to unlock the vault."

"Doesn't matter." I chuckled. "I can think of a way to get to it. Now stay up here while Raven and I grab the relic."

I stepped on the platform as it began to lower itself, with Raven stepping up beside me. Even with her mask on, I could tell she was looking at me with a questioning glare.

"What exactly is your plan to keep me being the Spring Maiden, a secret?" She questioned grabbing the hilt of her blade with caution.

"Nothing much, just gonna slam on the doors a bit with several of my Semblances, and make enough damage to make it look like I forced it open. Then once I've made enough damage, you'll open the doors, and then you can leave." I smiled.

"So what is it exactly you're planning? I heard about what you did to that Schnee girl." Raven questioned.

"I guess I owe you that much at least. Though to be fair, I didn't mean to paralyze her, but I'm sure she's back on her feet by now with a fancy surgery helping her out." I sighed. "To put it bluntly, Yang, her partner Blake, and myself, are playing Salem and her pawns for fools."

"Ozpin already brought you into his inner circle?" Raven inquired.

"Nope. I was actually approached by one of Hazel's men. Kind of a nut job, yellow eyes that turned purple when he uses his Semblance, a scorpion Faunus, I can't remember his name, but he told me all about Salem, the relics, even the maidens. He even told me the plans Salem developed and gave to her subordinate Cinder, for making Beacon fall." I explained. "I've already given my plan to someone Ironwood trusts, but isn't in Ozpin's inner circle."

"I see." Raven smiled as we made it to the ground floor. "That is quite impressive. What about Goodwitch, and getting her fired, while also cutting off her arm?"

"That is on her, she chose to attack me, then attack Yang and Blake. If she wanted to avoid the surgery that came with having it reattached, she should have considered the consequences." I explained as we walked up the pathway to the doors of the vault. "Alright now stand back a bit, I'm about to do some major damage." I smirked, activating Hands of God, combining that with shoving shards of Earth Dust into my arms, before activating my Semblance.

I charged the remainder of the distance towards the Vault, and threw back all three of my right fists, before slamming them into the door, causing a loud clang to echo out through the cavern. I continued to repeat this process with all my fists, before I managed to notice something, the doors were opening, and that's when I realized I had my silver eyed power active, whether it was subconsciously or not, didn't matter as I found it was actually allowing me to force open the doors, that could only be opened by a maiden.

"Let's give this a try." I smirked pushing on the doors, with all my strength, as two of the hands I produced stabbed more Earth Dust into my arms.

With the power of the Silver Eyes glowing brighter, I pushed harder on the doors, forcing them open enough for me to step through, and look out in awe of the sandy desert. In the center was a lamp, with a beautiful gold and blue design. I quickly grabbed it, and walked out of the chamber, where I saw Raven was already gone as the doors closed. I looked deeply at the lamp, and suddenly felt the urge to say a name.

"Jinn."

The calm serenity began to change to stillness as it looked as though time had stopped, before a blue mist seeped out of the lamp, forming into a naked woman with blue skin and golden chains, and even darker blue hair.

"Well hello there young traveler." She smiled. "I am Jinn. I am able to answer two questions this century."

I took in a deep breath, and asked the first question.

"Is it possible, for the magic of the Silver Eyes, to evolve into something more than just turning Grimm to stone?" I questioned.

"Yes it is. So long as the proper conditions are met. An' so far, what I see in you, is just what is needed." She said.

I wanted to ask her what she meant, but that would have used up the second question. I decided against it, and chose to ask a question that had been burning in both mine and Raven's minds for some time now.

"Tell me everything, what exactly is Ozpin hiding about his past?" I questioned, a determined gleam in my eyes.

~Yang POV: Half a month Later~

"Hey, isn't Scythe coming back soon?" Blake asked sitting beside me on the couch reading a book.

"He should be. Don't know why he cut the trip short though. He even said he left the Relic of Knowledge where it was. Guess plans changed." I exclaimed.

"I'm sure he has his reasons." Amber said, making some tea.

"I'm back." Scythe said, coming through the garage. He seemed a little bummed.

"Hey, what happened?" I questioned as he came down to sit next to us.

"I found out the truth about what actually happened between Salem and Ozpin." He exclaimed.

"Really? What would that be?" Amber asked, bringing him a cup of tea.

"For one, he didn't grant four maidens their magic. The 'Original Maidens' from the fairy tale, were his daughters, who not only developed their own magic, but inherited a fraction of his reincarnation ability. Which is what allows them to pass their power onto a new maiden." Scythe explained. "An' I'll give you one guess, who his wife was that gave birth to his four daughters."

"You're kidding." Blake said, as we were all in shock.

"You mean to tell us, the war between Ozpin and Salem, is nothing but an unending feud between a husband and his wife?" I questioned.

"Exactly. On top of it all, Salem is immortal, she can't be killed. Everyone in Ozpin's inner circle, is just being used in this never ending game of theirs." He said. "But, we're still going to prevent the Fall of Beacon. We're just gonna put a stop to it the old fashioned way, without magical items or tools."

"An' how are we going to do that exactly?" Amber asked.

"First off, we're going to get the other half of your power back, one way or another." Scythe explained. "An' to do that, Cinder has to die."

"I'm all for getting her power back, but is that really necessary?" Blake inquired.

"Unfortunately it is." Scythe sighed. "While I don't agree with it either, I really don't see another way we can use to get Cinder to give up Amber's power… unless…"

"What are you thinking?" I questioned.

"Unless we use that capsule machine in Beacon's secret basement." Scythe exclaimed. "I'm not sure how it works, but there were two beds hooked up to that machine. That leaves several possibilities as to what its purpose was. One being it was for another Maiden to try and kick start Amber's soul, another is it could have been just a medical bed for patients in critical condition, but then there's the possibility, that it could have been created to transfer the other half of Amber's soul to another vessel. Dr. Polendina's work involves souls, and either the creation of a synthetic soul, or the transfer of a soul leaving one body, and entering into another."

"Can you be sure about that?" Blake asked.

"I was a patient of his when I was a child, plus he transferred fractions of souls from five different people into me, to stabilize mine." Scythe exclaimed. "I'm positive that's one of the possibilities as to why it was designed and built that way."

"So… we just need to put Cinder in the bed I was in, and I'll just set myself in the other bed, and we'll transfer my power back to me." Amber exclaimed. "Will the machine even be that precise?"

"No clue, but it's worth a shot." Scythe stated, before there was a large knocking at the door.

Scythe sighed in annoyance, before he went to answer it, and it looked as though, neither he, nor Blake were surprised, that High Leader Sienna Khan, was standing there at the door, with two of her generals, one of which holding a box in his hands.

"What can I do for you high leader Khan?" Scythe asked, allowing the three of them to come in.

"I have a bone to pick with you. An' you'd better hope I don't have my men kill you, where you stand after hearing what you have to say." She said, before noticing Amber, Blake, and I. "I see you have one of our deserters and two human women, to serve you."

"Hey." He said defensively. "Talk like that about any of them again, and I'll be sure to send all three of your heads, back to Anima in a box, while your bodies are rotting in Vale Harbor's waters."

"Bold words coming from a single Faunus." She said, before Scythe pinned the three of them down to the ground, using Hands of God, and summoned a Sabertooth Grimm, glaring at them.

"A single Faunus, with a total of Seven Semblances, at his disposal." He growled. "Now talk, before I lose my patience."

"We came here for answers, as to what you did with the owner of the mask in that box." Sienna said, not trying to fight her restraints, unlike her two subordinates.

"Adam?" Scythe questioned. "He's in Vale Penitentiary, missing both his arms and legs I might add, but he's still alive."

"But why destroy the camp that was under his command?" Sienna questioned.

"He was working with a woman named Cinder, a human woman, and they were planning to make Beacon fall to its knees. In fact, I believe he was also planning a coup d'état against you, to take over the White Fang, and become its next High Leader." Scythe explained. "At least according to the information I got out of him during interrogation."

"So you destroyed the camp, and had all my men working under him, arrested to prevent them from making one of the four great Huntsmen Academies, crumble." Sienna sighed, letting out a deep breath. "I can see your logic in that."

"Now, while I have you here, I am gonna make something clear." Scythe sighed. "This has to do with both your ways of leading the White Fang, and Ghira Belladonna's. This is not me dissing on either of you, this is just my honest opinion."

"Scythe?" Blake asked.

"Ghira Belladonna, had the right idea, starting up the White Fang, a peaceful organization, wanting equality with humans. But he was also blind to his pacifism. You became the new High Leader because you saw a change needed to be done, but your change backfired, people don't treat Faunus as Equals now, they fear us just as bad as Grimm. Now I know I am the last person who should be saying this, especially with what I did to Weiss Schnee… but there is a common ground between both your goals. Yes we will show humans through our fighting prowess we are to be respected and treated as equals, no not by destroying shops, homes and businesses. We should do it, through protecting the people, fighting off the Grimm, and standing on the front lines, not just providing support from behind, or throwing a fit because we're not being treated equally enough. We will change humans opinions of us, because we will show them, we are more than animals, we're Huntsmen and Huntresses." Scythe said.

I looked down at Sienna and I swear I could see, awe and inspiration in her eyes.

"I became high leader, because I had suggested violence, when it was needed, and I suppose I have taken it too far by choosing to go through with turning us into a terrorist organization. I even let Adam Taurus off the hook for killing humans, innocent ones. But you, you after analyzing both how I lead the White Fang, and how Ghira lead it, came up with a compromise to both our paths to work together. You even feel regret for paralyzing that Schnee girl."

"Her paralysis wasn't supposed to happen. In fact, that whole thing that happened with her that day, was actually just me losing my temper, and letting the Grimm in me take control for a second. Tends to happen when my fuse reaches its end." Scythe said, letting them up. "In all honesty, leaving Beacon happened prematurely. My plan actually never involved leaving it unless I failed at stopping Beacons fall. But that's what happens when you've got Grimm flowing through your veins. An' before you ask, I'm not talking about how people label us as intelligent Grimm, I actually do have Grimm flowing through my veins."

"Would any of you care for some tea? I just made some." Amber offered.

"That would actually be lovely." Sienna said, her two guards just declined.

"Suit yourselves. I still need to have a meeting with some people. I'll be back later tonight." Scythe said heading for the door. "Oh, and Sienna, sorry about the whole, pinning you and your men down thing, I get kinda territorial when someone is talking negatively about my mates." Scythe exclaimed, before he actually left.

"Mates?" Sienna questioned.

"That would be Blake, and myself." I said as she sat down on the chair beside the couch.

"Oh I see." Sienna said with a sly smile.

My attention was drawn elsewhere as I noticed Blake reading through a leather bound book, and recognized it as Scythe's journal.

"Blake what are you doing?" I questioned.

"I'm wanting to know some stuff about him he's not told us yet, like who put him on this mission to stop Beacon's fall?" Blake exclaimed. "I doubt someone has the money to hire a member of the Branwen Tribe for this long."

"You've got a point, but do that after we don't have company." I sighed.

~Beacon Tower: Ozpin POV~

"Are the preparations for the Vytal Festival Tournament finished?" I questioned, looking up some paperwork on the festival itself.

"Yes Professor Ozpin." Glynda said, handing me the papers.

"How's your arm doing?" I asked.

"Well, considering it was a miracle in itself that it was able to be reattached after it had been dismembered, I'd say it's doing as fine as it can be." Glynda said. "I really owe you Ozpin, for allowing the council to let me keep my job here."

"You were only able to keep it, because you agreed to being, on parole, and a hefty pay cut." I sighed.

"I know. So far there haven't been any complaints this month from the students about bullies trying to push their supremacy onto their Faunus Classmates." Glynda said, continuing with the report.

"As much as it pains me to say this, it looks like we owe young Mr. Branwen for his actions taken against Mr. Winchester and Ms. Schnee." I said leaning my head forward with an exasperated sigh of annoyance.

"Awe, it was no big deal Ozpin."

I looked up in shock, and Glynda wiped her head around to the elevator, and there standing in front of it was Scythe himself.

"Heya Goodwitch, glad to see your arm's back to normal." He said, nonchalantly walking into my office.

"No thanks to you. I have nerve damage that couldn't be healed." She said.

"Eh, you win some you lose some." He stated.

"What are you doing here? Need I remind you, you're a wanted felon?" I questioned him.

"Relax, I know." He said, taking a seat in the chair in front of my desk. "But I do have some news. A plan in fact to counter it as well."

"What is this plan of yours? An' what is it you're wanting to tell me?" I questioned.

"Beacon is going to fall, unless we can stop it." He said, his voice not holding an ounce of deception.

"You have my attention." I said, interweaving my fingers.
