Family Matters

Chapter 19

Days Later

"I can't leave you here alone. What if something goes wrong.?" Haley asked. Looking over at her son.

Jamie placed down his guitar and looked back at his mother.

"My first request since my big decision is for you to take back you're life little by little and to actually enjoy it. You have this wonderful guy who loves you. Who has supported you and loved you through this entire ordeal and how has become someone i care about alot."

"I don't want you to end up alone and drowning in grief after i'm no longer here because you never focused on you're relationship. It's only for the weekend. I'll be fine. This is Tree Hill i'm never alone." Jamie said.

"If you're sure about this. I will go. But you call me, text me, and video chat. Whenever you need it. And i will be checking in with you." Haley said.

"Of course i would expect nothing less." Jamie said. Getting up from where he was seated and walked over to where his mother stood.

He wrapped his arms around her and held on tightly.

"I love you momma." Jamie said with a smile.

"I love you too." Haley said. Hugging him back.

"Aunt Brooke, and aunt Peyton already picked out you're stuff and have everything put away in the trunk of Chris's car. All that's left for you to do is leave." Jamie said.

Haley took a deep breath. Leaned over placing a kiss on Jamie's forehead before she left the home.

Jamie closed and locked the front door after her.

He then sat back down and began to strum his guitar.

Chris had bought it for him awhile back he had started giving him lessons on how to play and soon enough Jamie fell in love with it.

He strummed the guitar and started to sing. He had recently gotten into song writing and was nervous about anyone hearing his voice. Once he finished the song. Jamie carrfully placed the guitar back into it's case.

And got off the chair he was sitting in. These days he didn't go to school anymore. His friends visited him often and when he had the strength and energy he went over and visited them himself.

Jamie walked over to the end table opened the drawer and looked over all the envelopes containing letters he had written. Everyone in his life who was close to him would recieve it after he was gone.

He had one letter left he planned to write and that was to his father.

He was begining to release there was freedom in dying. You had only a certain amount of time to do and say what was needed before you're voice was silenced. He wasn't afraid of death. He longed for all the people and things he would miss out on most of all.

...

"What do you mean he isn't doing treatment anymore.?" Nathan questioned. Looking to his brother.

Lucas looked back at him. "Given what Haley told me. The cancer has spread and the treatment plan they had been doing isn't working. Jamie told her straight out that he wants to stop getting treatment and live out his remaining time on his own terms. I'm not keeping you up to date on things involving Jamie anymore. It's a waste of time. After everything we've spoken about you haven't reach out to Jamie at all. I'm done waiting around thinking that the brother and father i used to know is still in there. Get out and don't come back." Lucas proclaimed.

...

Nathan drove around the familar streets of Tree Hill. He parked the car in the street and got out. He walked up the stairs bawled up his fist and knocked on Haley's front door.

Seconds later the door opened slowly in front of him.

Jamie stared up at him.

"Nathan Scott why have you decided to grace me with you're absence.?" Jamie asked.
