"You've reaches the Takahashi Residence. Name please?" A voice over the intercom says, Inuyasha groans from his car seat. "Oh! The young lords. My apologizes, please, come in. Welcome home." The voice says hastily, as the gates to their home opens. Inuyasha drives the car forward slowly, and then rushes down the winding road to his parents' house. Beside him, Sesshomaru rolled his eyes, every once in a while, he would put his hands on the dashboard to steady himself.

"I wish you would stop driving so recklessly, little brother." Sesshomaru says, as Inuyasha parks the car in front of their house. Inuyasha scoffs at his brother, as he takes the keys out of the ignition and reaches into the back seat, grabbing his duffle bag. Sesshomaru also reaches into the back seat, taking out his own duffle bag. He stops momentarily and narrows his eyes. "Hm.." he says to himself, warily but he shakes off the feeling and gets out of the car, following Inuyasha to the front door. Before they could knock on the door, it flies open. Sesshomaru and Inuyasha look down to see Jaken, a long-term servant of the family standing before them.

"Lord Inuyasha! Lord Sesshomaru! Uh, my apologies for earlier, Milords, I had forgotten you two were coming for the long weekend." Inuyasha grunts, and throws his duffle bag down next to the door, ignoring Jaken. Sesshomaru follows suit, although he throws his duffle bag down on top of Jaken. "Nice to see you too." Jaken mutters under his breath.

"Mom! Dad!" Inuyasha calls out. Their house was large, and was only made to seem larger by the walls all being painted white, with black and gold furniture adorning the living area. The walls on either side of the living room and kitchen were glass, overlooking the ocean view from the Malibu mansion. Inuyasha furrowed his eyebrows, where could they be? "Mommmm! Dad!" Inuyasha calls out again. Sesshomaru walked past his brother into the kitchen, putting his hair up into a high ponytail. Inuyasha's ear flickers at the sound of fabric rustling and he looks over into the living room, where he faintly made out his mother's petite figure.

"My boys!" A melodic voice squeals, and the sound of heels clicking on the hard marble floor quickens. Inuyasha laughs as he captures his mother in a hug. Sesshomaru emerges from the kitchen, having had a drink. Izayoi lets of Inuyasha and walks over to her stepson, giving him a hug as well. "My precious boys. How has college been?" She asks, leading them both into the kitchen. "I have so much to tell you both! Your father and I have been beyond ourself these past two weeks now that either of you are home for most of the year.

Jaken finally freed himself from the under Sesshomaru's bag, and hugged as he prepared to lug the bags upstairs to the brother's rooms. He heard steps descending down the stairs and looked up to see Inutaisho walking quickly down the stairs, his silver hair trailing after him. "My sons? Are my sons home? Inuyasha! Sesshomaru!" He calls, walking quickly past Jaken, the wind from his passing knocking Jaken back to the ground.

"Dad!" Inuyasha says, getting up from his stool at the kitchen island. Sesshomaru looked up from Izayoi to see his father, and nodded at him.

"Father." He said, his voice moving up in volume slightly, light with excitement. "Pleasure seeing you."

"My boys!" Their father says, pulling them both into a bear hug. "Oh, my boys! Has your mother told you how boring life has been without you two for the past 2 weeks?" He chuckled, pulling away from them. Inuyasha rolled his eyes.

"You guys say that like I didn't have a career as a musician and soccer player before I started this college stuff." Inuyasha said playfully. "Sesshomaru's the one who moved somewhere for like 2 years and then came back for college." He revealed, pointing a finger at his half-brother.

"Yes. But I'm back, aren't I?" Sesshomaru said, rolling his eyes. Inutaisho smiled at his sons, as Izayoi pulled his arm over her shoulder, interlocking their fingers.

"So! How has college been for my boys?" Inutaisho asked, smiling, "other than that wild party you were both attending last week." He said darkly, narrowing his eyes at his sons. Both Inuyasha and Sesshomaru lowered their heads. "Sesshomaru I'm especially surprised you were there." Inutaisho said, pointing a finger at his eldest son. "Inuyasha not so much. You? You always took after your birth mother in that sense...always so serious." Sesshomaru looked away from his father. Izayoi patted Inu No Tashio's arm gently, laughing nervously.

"Now now dear, they were just having fun. It's what you do in college. Surely you had quite a few party experiences in college, didn't you?" She said, glancing up at her husband.

"We're sorry father." Sesshomaru said, looking up at his father. "It will not happen again." Sesshomaru promised, nodding his head. Inuyasha scoffed from beside him, and crossed his arms.

"Feh! Speak for yourself!" He muttered, looking away from his brother. Izayoi sighed, and pulled away from her dog demon lover.

"I'm going to start on dinner." She announces, and turns toward the refrigerator. "Inu, could you go to the cellar and get a bottle or two of wine?" She called over her shoulder. Inuyasha and his father exchange looks and then look toward the human woman.

"Honey, which one?" Inutaisho asked, laughing. Izayoi laughed and shook her head as she rummaged through the fridge.

"Either one of you, just get the wine please." She responds, as she pulled out a brown package from the fridge. Inuyasha and his father see this as an opportunity to catch up, and decide that they will both go get the wine, leaving Izayoi and her stepson alone. The petite woman turns, and gently sets the brown package on the island counter. A freshly manicured hand pulls at the strings. "How have you been, don?" Izayoi asks innocently, looking toward Sesshomaru who was preoccupied on his phone. At the sound of her voice he sets the phone down and looked over at Izayoi.

"Pardon?" Sesshomaru asked, watching her as she floated from the island counter to the pantry to gather spices. "Do you need help?" He watched as she stood on her tippy toes to reach the top of the pantry. She sighed, and kicked off her heels, deciding instead to jump up and reach for the spice. Getting it, she turned back to her step son. She was wearing a long, flowing maxi dress, with long billowy sleeves. It was very boho-chic. It suited her carefree spirit. "University has been well, I suppose." Sesshomaru says, watching as his stepmother seasoned the lamb chops. "How have you been, Izayoi?"

"I've been well!" Izayoi said happily, flashing a smile at Sesshomaru. "Oh good! Your brother snd father are back with the wine." She says. Sesshomaru looked over his shoulder as Inuyasha and their father walked toward them with the bottles of wine. They set them on the island.

"I suppose I'll go get the glasses." Sesshomaru said, getting up from his seat the island. He left the kitchen as his parents started a conversation with Inuyasha. He floated toward the living room, and opened the glass door that lead to the chilled room where a lot of the family liquor was kept. He found the area where the wine glasses were kept and gently picked up four of them. He turned back toward the door, and stopped when he noticed Jaken was standing in the doorway, holding a phone up toward him. "What is it, Jaken?"

"Lord Sesshomaru, lady Kagura is on the phone. She wishes to speak with you." Jaken said, shakily holding the phone up for Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru glared at him, and passed him. "Huh? Lord Sesshomaru!" He called after him.

Sesshomaru scoffed, "tell her I'm occupied." He said sternly, walking back toward the kitchen.

"Lord Sesshomaru she said it's urgent!" Jaken calles after him, running after the young man. Sesshomaru growled and looked over his shoulder to Jaken his eyes flashing red. "Oh dear."

"Jaken, when I say to do something. You do it." Sesshomaru said, his eyes flashing red. "I told you to tell her I'm occupied with my family. Make yourself useful and do so." Giving Jaken one final glare, he whips his head back in the direction of the kitchen, his long silver hair brushing gently against the back of his knees. He came in, and poured everyone a glass of wine. They clinked their glasses together. "Cheers." He muttered under his breathe, and took a sip.

Inuyasha and his father began talking, and wandered from the kitchen out to the balcony. The sun was beginning to set into the water, and a slight breeze had picked up. Inuyasha and his father sat down across from each other in front of a fire pit. Inuyasha kicked off his flip flops and crossed his legs on the outdoor couch. Inutaisho looked at his son, and chuckled taking a sip of his win. "What?" Inuyasha asked. Inutaisho shook his head. "Aw, dad c'mon. What is it?"

"Nothing, it's just." Inutaisho looked out toward the water, the sound of the water crashing gently onto the shore making him smile. "You and Kikyō..." he trailed off.

Inuyasha narrowed his eyes. "Dad." He said sternly, also looking out toward the ocean. "I broke up with her last night." Inutaisho raised his eyebrows, and looked at Inuyasha. "Yeah, seriously."

"Oh, holy shit." He said, laughing. "You finally left that girl huh?" He took another sip from his wine and reached under the couch he was sitting on. He pulled out a bottle of fuel and dumped some over the glass in the fire pit, before lighting it with a match. The glow of the fire lit up their faces. Inuyasha looked over at his father, squinting.

"What do you mean finally?" Inuyasha asked suspiciously, putting his glass of wine down on the floor beside him. He glanced over into the kitchen, where Izayoi was hard at work making a meal. Their kitchen was also their grand room, and this took up a very large portion of the house. There was a giant two sides couch in the middle of the room, one side faced the kitchen and the island counter top, the other side faced the balcony and the ocean view. A TV hung on the wall that the balcony entrance was at. Sesshomaru laid on the large couch facing the balcony entrance, looking at something on his phone.

"Well, son," Inutaisho started, looking over at his youngest son. "Your mother and I never really liked Kikyō." He said quickly. "You know this, we were very vocal about it." His father followed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Nonetheless, I'm sorry it didn't work out between you two. It must suck." Inuyasha scoffed at this father. He raised an eyebrow. "Oh? It's not?"

"Feh! Not a chance." Inuyasha said arrogantly, finishing off his glass of wine. "You were right about her all along dad." Inuyasha said softly, he stared into the fire his father lit angrily. "She was just in it for the money." Inutaisho sighed and got up, patting his son on the shoulder. Inuyasha put a hand over his father's hand and felt his father squeeze his shoulder gently. "I wish I listened to you and mother." He admitted, looking up at his father.

"Well, you've always been the rebellious one of the two." Inutaisho said jokingly, smiling at his son. Then he sighs and looked into the kitchen, where his wife was waving at the two men. "Come along now son, you mother is finished cooking." He said, as he held the glass door that led them back inside open for his son. Inuyasha got up, walking into the luxurious house. He walked over to the island counter, and sat himself down on one of the stools and reached over to slide a plate to himself. His mother made lamb chops, with roasted vegetables and wild rice; his favorite meal. His father sat down beside him, and his mother smiled as she pulled a stool over on the opposite side of the counter. "It looks delicious, Izayoi." Inutaisho said as his wife passed by him. He gave her a kiss on the cheek.

Sesshomaru, having smelled the food got up from his nap on the couch, and stretched as he walked over and sat down next to Inuyasha. Izayoi passed him a plate. Next to Sesshomaru there was an empty seat set for someone else. "Who else is joining us for dinner?" He asked, as he filled new glasses with wine.

"Jaken!" Izayoi called, "Oh, Jaken! Come into the kitchen dear!" Jaken emerged from an area in the house, and looked at the woman.

"Yes Milady?" Jaken asked, standing at the entrance of the kitchen. Izayoi and Inutaisho smiled at him.

"Join us for dinner, Jaken." Inutaisho said, motioning toward the empty seat set next to Sesshomaru. The small imp demon teared up in his spot. Inuyasha glared at him from his seat at the island.

"Well? Are you just going to stand there? C/mon already stop blubbering!" Inuyasha shouted, staring at the small butler. Sesshomaru glowered at Jaken from his spot as well, narrowing his eyes at Jaken.

"Jaken." Sesshomaru said calmly, setting down his wine glass. Jaken looked up at the young lord.

"Yes, Lord Sesshomaru?" Jaken asked, sniffling, using the sleeve of his shirt to wipe away tears.

"Stop that. Come." He ordered calmly, and Jaken straightened up, and nodded his head as he walked over to the empty seat next to Sesshomaru and climbed up. Izayoi laughed nervously as Inutaisho glared at Inuyasha.

"Inuyasha, that's no way to treat Jaken." He said calmly, cutting into his meat. Inuyasha glared at his father as he took a bite out of a roasted baby carrot.

"Whatever." He huffed. Sesshomaru cleared his throat, causing everyone to stop eating and look at him. "What?"

"Have you and my father kept contact with Kagura?" Sesshomaru asked, staring at his step mother. Jaken stiffened in his spot, and coughed nervously. "She called today." He said, looking over at Jaken, and then he looked back toward his father and her wife who sat directly across from Inuyasha, himself and Jaken.

"Well-" Inutaisho started, waving his knife around as he thought of what to say to his son. Izayoi sighed and looked up from her plate.

"Yes, but only because I've hired her as a model for my clothing company, nothing more." She says, shrugging her shoulders as she reached for her wine glass. "Jaken, would you like some wine?" She asked Jaken, in an attempt to change the subject.

"Then why is it that I could smell her scent lingering in the doorway when I entered?" Sesshomaru asked, taking a bite out of the lamb chop. Inuyasha furrowed his eyebrows, as he ate some rice.

"Come to think of it, I could smell her too." Inuyasha said, scratching his head. His father sweated nervously from his seat and Inuyasha narrowed his eyes at him. "What are you so nervous about, old man?" He asked, tiliting his head as he swished his wine in the glass.

"Uh- nothing son." Inutaisho said nervously, waving his hand. Izayoi gently hit him with her foot under the table, and glared at him from her seat. Sensing that the tension in the room had risen, Jaken ate the last of his food, and cleared his throat.

"Well! The meal was wonderful madam thank you very much for thinking of a lowly servant such as myself as you prepared for your fam- uh? L-lord Sesshomaru?" Jaken stuttered, sweating nervously as he felt Seshomaru's clawed hand wrap around the nape of his neck, preventing him from leaving the table. Sesshomaru lifted Jaken from his seat, and brought him to his eye level, his golden eyes burning with anger. Inuyasha minded his business, returning to the plate of food before him.

"That is enough young man!" Ino No Tashio yelled at his son, getting up from his seat. Sesshomaru ignored his father, still staring at Jaken. "Jaken is but a servant! He has nothing to do with anything." He yelled. Izayoi stared at Inuyasha as he continued to eat his food, competely ignoring his brother's violence.

"Inuyasha do something!" Izayoi whisper yelled across the counter. Inuyasha's ears flickered in acknowledgement of her words, but he continued to eat and sip on his wine. "Inuyasha!" she whisper-yelled again. Inuyasha glanced up from his food at his mother.

"What?" Inuyasha asked, looking at her. She motioned toward Sesshomaru who held a death grip on Jaken. He sighed and put a hand on Sesshomaru's shoulder, as Jaken wriggled and pleaded for his life in Sesshomaru's grasp. "C'mon man, leave him alone." He sighed. Sesshomaru still didn't listen.

"If I hear that you've let that woman into my home, I will personally see that you return to the slums we took you out of and are devoured by the rats, you useless servant." Sesshomaru whispered in Jaken's ear, his hand glowing with poison. Jaken wriggled with pain, as Sesshomaru dropped him. Quickly Jaken ran out of the kitchen area, and toward his quarters at the very back of the mansion.

"Sesshomaru!" Inutaisho yelled, angry with his eldest son. Sesshomaru turned back toward his father, and got up from his seat, taking the bottle of wine and his glass. His eyes flashed red as he gowled at his father, and looked toward his step mother, pointing at her.

"When I said I wanted no trace of that miserable bitch in my house, I meant it." He growled angrily, and started out of the grand room and into another part of the house. Izayoi trembled in her spot and Inuyasha noticed, turning toward his brother. He leapt out of his seat, and aimed to punch Sesshomaru in the back of his head, Sesshomaru, having keen sense, moved out of the way, causing Inuyasha to punch the stone floor of the foyer. "Attacking from behind? That's low, even for you, little brother." He started walking up the grand staircase to the second level of the house.

"Don't you dare threaten my mother like that again!" Inuyasha yelled at his brother, lifting his body up from the ground. "Next time, I'll make sure you end up dead you useless son of a bitch!" Inuyasha called after his brother, who glared down at him and huffed from his spot on the staircase, starting back up toward his room. Inuyasha stalked back toward the kitchen and saw his father comforting his frightened mother.

Although Izayoi raised Sesshomaru alongside Inuyasha, she was always cautious with Sesshomaru and frightened by his anger as she knew he was ruthless, and a powerful demon, perhaps more frightful than Inu No Tashio. "Mother," Inuyasha breathed, coming to his mother's side. "Are you alright?" Inuyasha asked, stroking her hair. Izayoi nodded weakly, drying her tears with the sleeve of her dress. Inutaisho shook his head and sighed heavily, collecting the dishes and scraping off the excess food, and dumping them into the kitchen sink.

"Well, that took a very bad turn." Inutaisho said, turning back toward his wife and son. "I think your mother and I are just going to go to bed." He said to Inuyasha, as he picked up Izayoi from her seat bridal style. Izayoi looked toward her son, and cupped his face in her hands, smiling at him. She pulled his face closer to hers and gave Inuyasha a kiss on the forehead.

"Goodnight sweetheart. Remember to turn off the lights downstairs if you decide to go out. Be careful if you do, okay? See you in the morning." She says to him, and Inuyasha nods. With that Inutaisho walks out of the kitchen, taking Inuyasha's mother with him up the steps to their bedroom.

Inuyasha sighed as he watched his parents leave the room, leaving him in the large, cold space. He rested his head on his hands, tapping his cheeks gently with his nails as he took a look at the wall décor. Much of it was abstract, black white and gold paintings. Every time I come visit, this place looks more and more like a museum, Inuyasha thought to himself, as he turned toward the kitchen sink, and turned the water on. "I might as well make myself useful I guess." Inuyasha mutters, as he puts some dish soap on a sponge and begins doing the dishes.
