Kaishi's nose twitched lightly and the scent that greeted him made his soft golden eyes pop open. The morning sun arrived in his uncle's village and he smelled the light fire that burned within the pit. He looked around the hut and noticed he was the last to wake. Aunt Kagome was the only one within the hut beside him preparing breakfast. He rubbed his eyes as he couldn't believe he slept through all the sounds of his siblings and cousins. The past trials must have been more tiring on his body than he had thought. Or his body could finally relax knowing he was with family to sleep soundly. The young dog demon stood up and stretched his light sore limbs. Kagome noticed his moment and gave him a soft smile.
"Good Morning, nephew. Sleep well?" She asked softly as she chopped carrots and cabbage.
"Yes, Aunt Kagome. Is father here along with uncle generals?" Kaishi replied and questioned as he looked towards the hanging mat that covered the door.
Kagome smiled to herself as she glanced at the door mat, "Yup, they are here. Lord Sesshomaru noticed you didn't wake up like the others upon their arrival. He left you to rest as Yue and I explained how you were the first to fall asleep last night. We all know everything that has happened; you took it upon yourself as your burden. Now you no longer have to put that pressure upon your little shoulders. All of you can now go get Kaya and head home as a family."
Kaishi looked at his aunt as happiness filled his gold orbs. He smiled softly as he nodded his head in agreement. "Go tell the others that breakfast is ready. I want you little ones to eat before leaving. Plus… tell Mitsu to come pack some of her things. I already know she would sneak off with you all to see Kaya." Kagome ordered him as she steered the pot.
Kaishi nodded his head again as he rushed out of the hut. He hissed softly from the blinding morning sunlight. He blinked a few times before he looked around for everyone. He sniffed the air and a smile grew on his lips when he picked up on his father's scent. He ran off towards the Goshinboku that sat near the bone-eaters well. As he approached he noticed his brother Yoshiro stood next to their father's right leg and Yue stood in front of him while speaking with him. Mitsu stood beside her with Aiko in her arms. Uncle Eiji and Sosuke stood nearby as well as they waited on an order from their father. His father pause the tigress speech as his eyes turned and looked towards him. This caused the others to stare his way as well.
"Brother Kaishi is awake! We can go see mama now, papa!" Yoshiro spoke up happily with a grin on his little face.
Kaishi came closer to the group and bowed in greeting. "Good Morning, father. Good Morning, everyone. Forgive me for oversleeping. Did I hold up any pressing plans?"
Mitsu giggled as both she and Yue shook their heads no. His uncle generals shook their heads no as well with a small smile on their faces. Kaishi looked up to his father who remained silent. "Sosuke and Eiji, return to the estate and notified every one of our arrival for this afternoon. Yue, you will accompany them and Sosuke will show you a room along with following orders till we arrive home." Lord Sesshomaru gave out orders to his retainers who bow to him. Yue smiled at Mitsu who hugged her before Yoshiro rushed up to the tigress and hugged her as well.
"We see you when we get home, Yue. I will tell mama about you when we see her. I know mama would want to meet you with a lot of happiness. Trust this Yoshiro that you will come to love mama's smile too." Yoshiro expressed with a lot of happiness in his tone which made Yue giggle softly from his eagerness.
"Of course, young Lord Yoshiro. I have a feeling you are very much like your mother." Yue tickled the little dog demon who giggled. Sesshomaru released a small growl as he narrowed his eyes at the black tigress insult.
"Forgive me, Lord Sesshomaru. I see a lot of yourself within young Yoshiro as well. May I say my goodbyes to everyone else?" Yue bowed to the western lord as she wanted to smile at how the daiyoukai felt jealous at how his mate took credit for Yoshiro's behavior. Yue honestly didn't see any of Lord Sesshomaru's cold demeanors within Yoshiro, so she knew it had to come from the Lady of the west.
Sesshomaru nodded slightly as he turned his attention to Kaishi. The young heir took that opportunity to speak up as well, "Yoshiro… Mitsu… Aunt Kagome is requesting everyone to come eat breakfast. If you see the others relay the message."
Both children nodded their heads as they walked with Yue back towards Inuyasha and Kagome hut. Eiji and Sosuke bowed at Lord Sesshomaru and Kaishi before they went to wait on the tigress. Kaishi smiled when he watched everyone go before turning his attention to his father. He rushed his father and hugged his side. It caught the daiyoukai off guard as he didn't expect this from his eldest. The young dog demon knew he acted out character, but he just had an urge to embrace his father.
"Forgive me, Father, but I had missed you. Even if we were apart for several hours. I guess I allowed my weakness of fear to enter my thoughts on whether we were going to see you today or not." Kaishi spoke softly as he had his eyes closed. He opened his eyes when he felt his father's hand rest on top of his head.
"Kaishi, you shouldn't fear when it comes to this Sesshomaru. Do you believe this Sesshomaru is weak?" Lord Sesshomaru met the soft gold of his heir with his curious bold eyes. The young dog demon quickly shook his head no.
"I know my father is the strongest daiyoukai ever, but the fear within me after witnessing mother's departure keeps consuming my thoughts. Your heir has become weak." Kaishi frowned as he bowed his head in shame. Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes and before the daiyoukai knew it himself he picked up his son and had the pup look him in the eye.
"Pup, you are the heir of the west. Don't ever allow this weakness to consume you. If you wish to surpass this Sesshomaru then you have to give up all weakness. This Sesshomaru can't be killed so easily and your mother is alive waiting for us to greet her. If you want to prove to this Sesshomaru you are not weak then when we meet your mother, you will not cry. Show your mother you have become strong during this hard trial." Sesshomaru gave Kaishi a hard look which the young heir nodded his head.
Kaishi's gold eyes hardened as his voice became serious, "I will not cry. I will greet mother with happiness and tell her she was greatly missed by all of us." He fisted his little fist and smiled at his father.
Sesshomaru watched his heir with a slight smirk stretching his lips. He felt his heart fill with pride as he knew Kaishi would make him proud. The daiyoukai sometimes found himself puzzled on how he should act with his pups since he himself was never close with his father. He remembers when Kaishi started walking and would always follow him everywhere within the western state. It annoyed him to no end when the pup would stay near him and sit with him when he worked in his study. Kaya had expressed so much jealousy toward the pair as the pup she wanted so much left her to be by his side. There were times he would order Kaishi to leave him be or go to his mother which in return made the one year old Kaishi pout and burst into tears. Kaya would save Kaishi from his irritation and growl at him about not to be mean to the curious pup. Sesshomaru mainly would growl back at his mate, but he hated the most when she ignored him and kept Kaishi from him till he would personally come and take the sad pup to be back at his side. That year alone Kaya and he were mostly growling at each other or she was ignoring him which showed him a new side of his mate. Once he finally accepted Kaishi tailing him everywhere he went, Kaya went back to being an obedient mate. He now knows to end an argument quickly with Kaya before he has another unpleasant year.
"After you and your siblings eat breakfast we will travel to your grandmother's palace." Sesshomaru informed Kaishi who smiled more as he couldn't wait. The western lord placed the young heir to his feet on the ground and began walking him back to the human village.
The cold winter wind blew strongly through the late morning sky. Sesshomaru flew through the sky heading towards his mother's sky palace. He held the human child Mitsu in his left arm since she carried Aiko in hers. The young girl politely requested if she could also go greet Kaya with all of them. He knew his mate would want to greet the human as well since she was an adopted child of the west. The human girl wore a black hanten over her silk pink kimono to keep her warm during the flight. Kaya and he, which he will never admit to it, would make sure she had proper kimonos and yukata to wear during every season like their pups. Kaishi flew next to his side with Yoshiro clinging to his back. Kaishi made sure his little brother was nicely secured before they took off. The western lord noticed one of his mother's guarding white dragons slither by past them in flight as well. Mitsu and Yoshiro grasp out loudly it amazement of its sight while Kaishi grin as he has seen the dragon from his last visit. The daiyoukai made it a habit of not visiting his mother often even if his mate wants to please the formal western lady. Out of all his pups, Kaishi is the only one that has been to his mother's sky palace.
"Papa, that dragon is different than A-Un. Why is that?" Yoshiro asked as he couldn't keep his blue eyes off the long body white dragon.
"It's a warning cloud dragon, Yoshiro. It is a different species of dragon then A-Un. A-Un is a land dragon and while this one purpose is to protect your honor grandmother palace of upcoming threats or unwanted visitors." Sesshomaru explained to his young son while moving higher within the sky.
"Does your honor mother become threaten a lot, Lord Sesshomaru?" Mitsu's soft voice asked as she looked at the daiyoukai with curious brown eyes.
Sesshomaru gave the human girl a quick look before releasing an hmph. "Not as often as I would like."
Kaishi and Yoshiro looked at their father with confusion while Mitsu's mouth dropped. Lord Sesshomaru ignored them as they pressed forward towards the palace. Soon, Sesshomaru and the pups landed at the platform that led towards the main building of the palace. Sesshomaru places Mitsu on her feet while noticing Aiko fast asleep in her arms. Kaishi helped his brother off his back, so he could walk on his own. Yoshiro quickly ran to their father's left pant leg and gripped it. Kaishi stood next to Mitsu and smiled at her as she took in the beauty of his grandmother's place. The young heir looked towards the main building with his gold eyes and noticed his honor grandmother standing at the top of the stairs. The small entourage made their way to the building and stopped at the bottom of the stairs.
"Honor grandmother, greetings." Kaishi greeted first as he bowed. Yoshiro shied away into his father's pants while Mitsu remained quiet as she bowed in respect as well.
"It pains me that only one of my grandpups knows me, Sesshomaru. It pains me more that I meet the younger ones when you come for their mother." Sesshomaru's mother spoke annoyance towards her son.
"Where is my mate, mother?" Sesshomaru ignores her and demands his question.
"If you introduce my other grandpups then maybe I call for your mate to come out." Sesshomaru growled at his mother as he really disliked her games. He looked down at Yoshiro who still shied within his pants and slowly moved to hide under his mokomoko.
"Yoshiro, present yourself to your honor grandmother." He ordered his youngest son who pouted up to him. Then Sesshomaru explains about his daughter, "The human girl, Mitsu, has Aiko asleep in her arms."
Sesshomaru's mother walks down the stairs and stands in front of them as she waits for Yoshiro. The young dog demons stays near his father as he looks at his grandmother with his shy blue eyes. Kaishi moved over to Yoshiro and smiled at him, "Honor grandmother is very kind, Yoshiro. Present yourself proudly so we can see, mother."
Yoshiro looked at his brother before looking at his grandmother. He nodded as he released his father's pant leg to approach her. He fidgeted with his fingers as he kept his blue eyes on the ground. He glanced back at his brother and father and noticed Kaishi waving him forward with his smile still on his lips while Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes down at him. He never liked meeting new people without his mother present even though it shocked him that he warmed up to Yue quickly. The young pup raised his blue eyes up to the female dog demon who watched him with curious gold eyes and a slight smile on her lips.
"Greetings honor grandma; I am Yoshiro of the West. I am three winters." Yoshiro spoke softly and respectfully. Sesshomaru's mother's smile grew bigger as she watched the small pup.
The older female dog demon kneel to his level and patted his head lightly, "You are nothing like my Sesshomaru. Kaya spoils you don't she? Well… I cannot blame her as you are the pup mix of both Black Star and Crescent Pack."
Yoshiro just stared at her while Mitsu and Kaishi giggled in silence. Sesshomaru's gold eyes narrowed more towards his mother. Soon the daiyoukai quickly turned his head towards the right side of him. Kaya stood at the entrance of his mother's garden wearing a black kimono with a red flower and green leaf design upon it. Her long black hair hung freely down her back with a gold flower pin laying on the right side of her head. Her beautiful blue eyes met his bold gold eyes while giving him one of her smiles.
"Lady Mikazuki, I would never spoil my pups." Kaya's voice spoke up towards her mother-in-law which caused her pups to turn their heads towards her direction.
Yoshiro's blue eyes teared up as he took off running towards his mother with his arms out to her. Mitsu looked at her adopted mother and tears started running down her cheeks as happiness filled her heart. Kaishi stood frozen in his spot as he fought his tears. He will not cry to prove he grew, but the happiness of seeing his mother alive and talking instead of death and emotionless was consuming him big time. Kaya kneels to the ground and embraces Yoshiro as he bounced into her arms crying his eyes out. She closed her eyes and softly reassured him in a hush. Mitsu rushed up to them and tried to keep her cries silent as she didn't want to wake up Aiko. The baby dog demon must've noticed the scent of her mother as she woke up crying and squirming. Kaya opened her eyes and chuckled out as she rested her hand on Mitsu's cheek softly before taking Aiko into her arms.
"Hush my little pup. Hush now." Kaya hushed Aiko in a loving way as she smiled down to her tearful face. Aiko quiet down as a pout stayed on her face while she sniffled with her tears at the corner of her blue eyes. Kaya looked towards her Kaishi and Sesshomaru who stood in the same frozen state. She laughed softly as she missed all of them so much.
"Not going to greet your mother, Kaishi?" Kaya asked as she stood up tall and smiled towards her oldest.
Kaishi's body flinched back to life before his own smile spread across his face as he ran towards his mother and hugged her tightly. "Welcome home, mother. You were greatly missed." Kaishi spoke out with all his emotions in one. He took a deep breath of her scent as he missed her floral scent that always brought them comfort. He felt her soft hand rest on top of his head which reassured him more that she was truly back with them.
Kaya smiled as she worked at calming down her pups and telling them she was never leaving them again. After she felt sure her pups were calm, she looked towards her mate as she knew he was allowing his pups their time with her. Sesshomaru's gold eyes stayed focused on her as if she would try to escape from his view at any second. She asked the pups to stay as she walked towards Sesshomaru with Aiko still in her arms. She stopped a few feet from him and smiled up to him while he kept his emotions to himself.
"I know you missed me, Sesshomaru. I hope you didn't cause too much damage while I've been absent." She giggled softly as his only response was a growl as he narrowed his eyes in irritation of her teasing. She leaned against his right arm and closed her eyes as she released a relaxed sigh.
"Thank you, mate." She whispers for only his ears to hear her. The daiyoukai eyes softened as he just answered her with a pleasing growl.
Lord Sesshomaru looked towards his pups and the human girl that watched them with smiles on their faces. He turned his head towards his mother who just stayed quiet as she allowed their reunion to take place. "Time to go home." He announced before he picked up Kaya bridal style in his arms. She released a light giggle as she looked at her pups.
"What about Mitsu and Yoshiro, my lord? You can't just leave them for Kaishi to carry on his own." She questioned as she looked at the pups she mentioned.
"Yoshiro, come here and sit on your mother's lap." Sesshomaru ordered as he already knew how to handle their travel home. Yoshiro was light enough to join his mother in the daiyoukai's arms. The little pup nodded as he rushed up to them and jumped on his mother's lap. The young pup gripped his father's mokomoko to secure his hold during their journey back home.
"Kaishi has the girl." Sesshomaru said flatly as he began walking away. Kaya tried to stop him so they could say their goodbyes to his mother, but he ignored her.
Kaishi and Mitsu laughed with each other before they turned their attention to the older Inu demoness who was glaring daggers at the back of her departing son. Sesshomaru's mother turns her annoyed eyes down to her eldest grandpup and the human girl. They both bowed in respect and wished their farewells before they moved to catch up with the daiyoukai.
"Kaishi… don't get too attached." Kaishi paused when he heard his grandmother's words. He glanced her way in wonder. Mitsu stopped as well as she wondered why he had paused. She didn't catch the words the formal western lady told him.
Lady Mikazuki nodded her head slightly to the human girl which made Kaishi's face turn red. Mitsu noticed his face and questioned if something was wrong. He grabbed her hand and rushed them to follow after his father. The gold eyes of the older dog demon narrowed a bit before she looked up in the sky.
"He is just like you, Toga." She whispered in the air before going back to watching her family leave.
A tall male figure about the height of 6'4 stood at the edge of a cliff looking down at modern day Tokyo. The city lights glow brightly before him as it brightens up the evening sky. He wore long black slacks, black dress shoes, and a short sleeve white button up dress shirt with a loose black tie hanging around its collar. His short spiky silver hair blew lightly in the autumn night air as he moved his long slender fingers within his pockets to only pull out a small carton of cigarettes. He took out a single cigarette and rested it on his slim lips while he put the box back in his pocket and searched for his lighter. He lit up his cigarette and took a long drag before holding the cancer stick with his index finger and thumb to release the smoke from his mouth. His mother always told him to quit, but he knew with his bloodline he couldn't be killed by human cancer.
A roar of a motorcycle engine came from behind him which caused his long pointed pierced ears to twitch from the noise. He took another drag of the cigarette before dropping it down next to his Gucci made leather black shoes and crushing it out. He didn't even bother to turn to see who approached him in the motorcycle as he already knew who it was to begin with. He took a deep sigh as he kept his eyes focused on the city life below him. He has been alive for a long time and was slowly growing bored with this generation of men. He may appear the age of a 21 year old man, but he has seen 500 years' worth of growth in modern Japan. He released a bored sigh as he moved to stand up straight in his posture as he heard the crushing of rocks behind him as his new visitor approached his being from behind.
"Kaishi, your father sent me to fetch you. He wishes to speak with you personally." A strong male voice spoke from behind the silver haired man now known as the western lord's heir. A smirk appeared on the young man's pale face as he turned his strong cold golden eyes on the man that stood behind him. His eyes met with his long time friend's green eyes.
"Yuusuke, I should send you back to my father and tell him I'm busy, but I wouldn't do that to you because I know how that old dog can get. We must be glad my mother has him on a pretty good leash." Kaishi manly tone chuckles from his comment as he runs his slender fingers through his spiky hair out of boredom.
Yuusuke, now known as the man with green eyes, growl slowly under his breath as it wouldn't be the first time his friend sent him back to his father without him in toe. Yuusuke's emerald eyes resemble those of his father's, but his short black hair had the same grey highlights of his mother. He stood at the same height as Kaishi and wore his motorcycle gear which was a black and forest green leather jacket, black cargo pants, and black boots. Underneath his sport jacket he just wore a plain band t-shirt. He took out his own smoke from his pocket and placed one on his thin lips while he moved to stand next to his best friend. Even though they are 7 years apart in age, they could pass as the same age in appearance to humans.
"Just be glad it isn't my old man fetching you, bro, or uncle Eiji. You know how those old grumps can get when we disappear for too long." Yuusuke said while lighting up his cigarette. Kaishi chuckled again as he nodded his head.
Yes, Kaishi knew his uncles well. He sighed deeply before turning his head back to his view of his brightly lighted city. Five hundred years he had his fair share of pain, growth, blood, love… and death. His gold eyes darken as the love and death was what made him grow disobedient than how he used to be as a pup. Maybe one day he would succeed at disappearing from his life and go make his own story away from the eyes of his parents.
"Alright, Yuusuke. Let's head home."
Yes, I did just do that lol.
Bonus Chapter will be a juicy one and I should have that out some time in a few weeks.
Thank you again and Till next time...
