Even though I never informed Nancy of my living situation, she sent over Christopher Dugard to help me.

Christopher Dugard arrives at my hotel room on a warm Saturday. He is towering and broad-shouldered, wearing a business suit. I find myself feeling slightly intimidated by him. Dugard didn't exactly have a menacing appearance, but he has this essence that makes me shudder on the insides. He is quite handsome himself, well-polished and poised for a man in his late 40s. He is smiling intently at me. His eyes sparkling with a strange emotion.

"Your Mother asked me to help you." Without waiting, he barges into the hotel room and closes the door behind him. He looks so casual as he walks into the room as if he owned it.

I step back instinctively. "Hey, Mr. Dugard." I force my voice to be polite.

Christopher looks down at Selyse and smiles brightly at her. "She is an adorable little thing, isn't she?" I whirl around, taking a cautious step in front of Selyse when she starts to bounce to him in curiosity. I make a mental note to teach Selyse to not run to strangers.

"What did Nancy tell you?" I ask. I did not feel comfortable with Dugard in my room, but I do not wish to be rude. In all fairness, Dugard has not done anything harmful.

"She told me to help you." His lips curl, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "You've been through a lot, Mila." His voice becomes gentle. "With your daughter, your boyfriend, your ex-sister in law. Just sheer madness everywhere. I know that you must be stressed out and you are in a hard place, so I want to help." He takes a seat in a chair, never removing his gaze from me. "Why don't you come down for dinner with me? We can talk."

I shake my head. "No. No. I have kids to watch."

"Late at night." He insists."The restaurant is downstairs and is open for 24 hours. All on my wallet."

I look at him, tempted. "All on your wallet, huh? That is so generous of you." I say softly.

"I know it is. As long as I have millions flowing through the banks, you don't have to worry about a thing," He hunches in the chair. "You just enjoy yourself, relax, and eat until your heart contents. Alright?"

"What exactly are we talking about?" I probe. I keep my distance when I sense a strange sensation in the air.

"That's for dinner," Dugard says vaguely. "Are you coming or do I have to eat by myself tonight?" His voice is authoritative, hardened and absolute.

I glance at my children. Selyse is playing with Hope, both of them fiddling with barbie dolls, Watson is sitting on the floor, immersed in the cooking channel on the TV. I didn't feel completely comfortable with leaving the children alone, even if it is for a second.

But if they're asleep, I don't see a problem. I needed answers for what we are talking about.

I put my hands on my hips and glare at Dugard, suppressing all intimidation he planted into me. "Before we do anything, I need answers to what exactly we are doing."

As a response, Dugard lets out a dry chuckle. His eyes dancing with excitement over my boldness. " I just want to make a generous offer to someone in need. It's always great to help others, isn't it?"

I begin to lose my temper. His smooth and tactful tone is gnawing at my patience. "Get to the point!" I snap.

Dugard shrugs his shoulders airily. "I want to discuss a little compromise between you and I." He replies.

"A compromise?"

"Yes, Nancy told me everything about your situation. And I thought perhaps it would be nice of me to make you feel better."

I feel a faint smile forming out of awkwardness. I did not know much about this man, but yet he makes me feel strong tingles up and down my spine.

"I'll pay for everything. Just come down with me and I will give you a night that you will never forget." He vows, his soft voice drenched with passion.

A warm shudder runs through me. I did not know what to say.

He then digs into his pocket to pull out a checkbook. "How does $500 sound to you? That should be enough for the little ones, right?"

My eyes nearly pop out of their sockets. "The fuc….whoa! $500?!" My brain stutters.

Dugard blinks at me in confusion. "Do you want more?" He asks innocently.

I shake my head. "You...can't….just...give me….money to just go out to dinner with you!"

"Of course, I can. Money is money, regardless of who gives it to you and where it comes from." Dugard exclaims.

I flush. "I...I...know..that..but…" My voice dissolves.

Dugard lays the checkbook on his lap. "You just take time to think about it. If you want to come, come and you will get $500. If not, you won't." Then Dugard eyes me, his eyes appear to be studying me. "Ever thought of becoming a model. You have the right height and bone structure to excel at it." He remarks.

"Yes. But I never got to it."

Dugard glances at the triplets. "You should think about it. Especially after having triplets, I know women have a difficult time to regain their usual shape, but you look quite stunning. As if you never had children in the first place."

I blush profusely from his compliment. "Thank you." I coo. I think of the money, I did not have as much as I anticipated I would. In retrospect, I did not have much of a concrete plan. No job, no housing, three babies, and lowering money.

I suppose getting paid $500 is not a terrible thing.

Dugard grins widely. "Good, good. So I take that as a yes to the dinner, right?"

My mouth speaks before my mind could. "Yes."

Next chapter will come. Reviews and thoughts. Mila encounters an old face and is now given an opportunity to become financially secure.
