Almost as quickly as I had shifted I changed again, breathless, spent and naked on the floor in front of Anita.
"How…" I looked up at Anita confusion and fear evident in my features.
"I-I don't know. Stay here." Before I could reply she turned on her heel and left, leaving me on the floor my arms wrapped around my legs pulling them into my body. I had shifted, I didn't know how I had yet, but the moon bore no affect on me. Anita soon returned with sweatpants and a vest from her car.
"We'll figure this out Riley. I promise." She spoke softly, calm like I would break or shift if she didn't tread carefully. But who knew, I very well could.
Arriving back at the Circus I was greeted by a very impatient Haven pacing back and forth.
"Come down when you've done here. Jean-Claude is waking, I'll file the report to RPIT too." Anita spoke, nodding her head to Haven before passing him to head down below the Circus.
"Payne is worried, said you blocked him." Haven began, but I didn't let him finish whatever else he planned to say pressing myself into him, taken back but only for a moment before he wrapped his arms around me. "What happened?"
I mumbled against his chest, which caused him to chuckle lightly, the sound reverberating through his chest allowing me a second to breathe, breathe in his scent, a comfort settling around me.
"I shifted. I don't how or why. We were outnumbered and struggling and I heard Anita scream."
"You shifted?"
"I don't know what this means for me, for work." I pressed back against him, I had always understood the need for shifters to touch, to feel safe and loved and protected. And that was exactly what I needed right now. I was in foreign territory, I felt alone and isolated, no one knew how to help or what to do. But I just wanted to be held, to feel safe.
Havens arms tightened before pressing his lips against my head. "It's going to be fine. You don't have a moon telling you that you have to shift, so anything else can be controlled. Besides it sounds like this was a good thing." Before I could protest he pulled away looking down at me. "You two were alone, if you hadn't have shifted, caught them off guard sounds like you both could be dead. And you can't die on me." He smiled, But behind it I could see the genuine fear that I could have died or at least been hurt with no one to help.
"You're right. I know, I just- this is something I can't prep for and it scares me." His hands cupped my face before he kissed my forehead, nodding his head.
"We'll figure it out." He soothed, something it turns out he was good at since whatever was with him and Anita was gone, he had certainly changed. I offered up a small smile in return as a car door slammed shut.
"Rylie! Haven is she okay?" Came Payne's voice, dripped in worry.
"She's fine. But she shifted again. It saved her life and Anita's." Payne was behind me before I could break away from Haven and his arms wrapped around me. Haven had brought comfort and safety with his touch, Payne had brought peace, it settled through me and calmed me.
"I'm sorry Payne, I didn't think when I blocked you. It just happened so fast."
"It's okay, just as long as you're safe." I nodded how could I not be safe with both of my men here with me. Asher would complete this, but Haven still wasn't comfortable around him.
Slowly I pulled away with a deep breath. "I have to go see Anita and Jean-Claude, discuss what happened." Haven knew it meant he couldn't come down into the Circus with me.
"I know. Drop by the house later if you get the chance." He leaned down to kiss me full and proper, his lips warm against mine before pulling away with a nod to Payne and leaving.
"Come on, Asher has awoken. He'll have heard and want to see for himself you're well." He reached for my hand as he spoke curling his fingers with mine.
"Love you."
"Love you more." His reply brought a smile to my face as he we headed inside.
As soon as we were through the door to the under ground I felt Asher's cool power flow over me, seeking, searching for any injuries I might have. I knew once inside the living area I'd find him on the loveseat waiting, looking nonchalant about it all as he found no injuries. And as Payne held the door open for me, I wasn't wrong.
As we entered Asher looked up at me, eyes searching for what his power hadn't found, finding no marks he stood gracefully and moved to meet me with a kiss. Though he didn't say so both Payne and I could feel the concern he felt for me.
"I'm safe. I promise." My free arm wrapped around Asher's waist holding before Payne wrapped arms around us both. I needed to see Anita, but I'd rather stay as I was.
"Come Mon Amour, we will all see Jean-Claude." Asher spoke softly and lead us to our Master of the City.
