Bakugo Expelled

Chapter eleven: Departure to the Front Lines

Katsuki Bakugo, after having woken up much earlier that morning, went back to sleep and got up at a more reasonable hour. The ashy-haired boy still couldn't shake the horror that he had seen in the dream that had woken him so early in the morning out of his head, a vision of a cityscape that had been turned into a bloody warzone. Not the kind you'd see in a horror film or anything, more like a bloody and violent action/war movie. Sure, Bakugo loved action, and he had no qualms with having to take a life if need be.

…But what he had seen was…was just too much.

That morning during breakfast, Bakugo sat at the table in his house's dining area, on the side opposite of his father Masaru. Thanks to being clued in by Itsuka Kendo of U.A.'s class 1-B, Bakugo knew that his former class before he was expelled from U.A., class 1-A, was now finally back in Japan. Right away, Bakugo tried to send a text to Kirishima, one of his closest friends and a member of the 'Baku-squad', which consisted of Bakugo's other close friends that are over at U.A.; Kaminari, Sero and Mina.

To Bakugo's surprise, Kirishima didn't respond to the text immediately. But then again, he and the rest of class 1-A did just get back from their international field trip to the United States. There's a good chance that Kirishima simply hadn't turned his phone back on yet. Setting his phone off to the side on the table for the remainder of breakfast, Bakugo finished eating the meal before he got up, put his dishes in the sink, then got his stuff together and left to go try to fill the void left by his current hero academy, Vulcan High, closing due to a stomach flu scare.

The explosive teen, as he walked along on the sidewalk, was a bit annoyed with his crimson-haired friend. Bakugo actually wanted to tell him some good news, but given that Kirishima hadn't yet turned his phone back on since returning from the States, there was little that Bakugo was able to do to tell him. Either way, Bakugo had no time to waste dwelling on the whys of the lack of communication.

Bakugo figured he try a different approach, and sent a text to Kaminari, asking him to tell Kirishima to turn his damn phone back on. Similar to Kirishima, there was nothing but silence from the electric quirk user. Bakugo took both Kaminari and Kirishima as proof that everyone in his former class at U.A. hadn't turned their phones back on since returning to Japan, which might be a good reason since they would have to turn phones off before getting on the plane. Bakugo decided to just roll with it and wait until later to try to contact his friends again.

Bakugo had spent the entire day keeping himself occupied; he went to see a movie alone (he sort of felt like a loser for it), got lunch afterwards, got in a workout from hell at the smalltime gym that he uses now due to how his prior usual gym effectively barred him due to how he had spit in U.A.'s face, went home, did his usual studies to keep up with the level he was used to at U.A., had dinner with his dad, watched some TV, got ready for bed, then went to bed.

Since he sent both of those texts about fifteen minutes apart from one another well before ten in the morning today, Bakugo has yet to get any texts or calls from anyone. Bakugo, in a bit of a grumpy mood, figured that everyone was suffering from jetlag, not to mention how they had to get used to the time zones of Japan again, as they had used the time zone over in the city that class 1-A had their field trip in.

Figuring that he'll try again tomorrow, Bakugo rolled over in bed and closed his eyes, eventually drifting off to sleep. The ashy-haired boy's sleep came easier to him this time, as he worked out more than he had anticipated. As he fell asleep, Bakugo wondered how he, along with Kaminari, Sero and Mina would help Kirishima with the girl that had fallen in love with him, as that is the good news that Bakugo wanted to tell his crimson-haired friend about earlier in the day.

Bakugo woke up with a bit of a start when he heard a quick knocking on his bedroom door. He was able to tell by the quickness and volume of the knocking that his dad was in a bit of a panic. "The hell's going on, dad?" Bakugo called out from within his bedroom. After Bakugo's call, his bedroom door opened, and to his surprise, it wasn't Masaru. Rather, it was two of Bakugo's classmates over at Vulcan High, Sakaki and Akuma. Both were in their respective casual outfits, which doubled as their hero outfits.

The ashy-haired boy arched a confused, wry eyebrow at his classmates from Vulcan being here, and so early in the morning as well. Both of them also looked freaked out, although Akuma did a better job of keeping himself calm. "Akuma? Cat Girl?" A confused Bakugo said, "What're you two doing here?" Taking note of their rattled expressions, Bakugo asked with a hint of worried suspicion in his tone, "What the hell happened?"

"More like what the hell is still going on right now," Akuma replied in a serious tone, "There a huge attack going on in the city right now! It's concentrated mostly in the shopping and business areas of the city, but some regular public schools are rumored to be in what one news reporter said is the quote unquote 'war radius'."

Bakugo instantly came to full attention when his friend told him what was going on. He stood up, looked at both the satanist and the fat cat girl of Vulcan High. "That's not all," Sakaki went on in a clearly frightened manner, "The massive horde of those attacking the city are not villains, nor are they those Nomu monsters that were reported in incidents such as Stain's last attack in Hosu, or that creature that fought Endeavor and Hawks to a standstill."

"You remember hearing about monsters such as ghosts and goblins in bedtime stories from when you were a little kid, right?" Akuma asked, getting an affirmative nod from Bakugo. Akuma gave an approving glare with a nod before he continued. "Well here's the tldr. Monsters are real, big hulking brute monsters like trolls, orcs and ogres are what makes up the attacking horde, and there's very little in the way of forces out there right now fighting off the monster horde."

"Your father is currently watching a live eye-in-the-sky news report down in your living room if you don't believe us," Sakaki said as she reached forward, grabbed Bakugo by his right hand, and then proceeded to drag him out of his room and down to the first floor. After Bakugo had been taken to the ground floor, he was pulled into his living room by Sakaki, with Akuma coming along behind. Bakugo stood a few feet from the TV, which his father Masaru was on the couch watching with a horrified look, the kind of look that suggested that he couldn't look away.

Bakugo could see why; the life news report was an eye-from-the-sky kind of deal that was being shot from a news helicopter, and it showed monstrous, large hulking brutes rampaging through the city streets. There were a few fights peppered over what he was seeing, and Bakugo even recognized a few pro heroes that were involved in the fighting. Bakugo, as he watched what was on the news, had a look of shocked horror that was comparable to that of what Masaru had. Like father, like son.

The explosive teen was snapped back to attention when he was turned around from behind, and came face-to-face with Akuma. "You have your hero costume here, right?" Akuma asked, then right after Bakugo nodded in the affirmative Akuma went on, "Good. Go get dressed. The three of us are going to go out and try to help with the fighting as best as we can. If necessary, we'll ask a pro hero we come across for permission to help with the fighting. It should help that all three of us have our provisional licenses."

The satanic hero-in-training had a point; a pro hero can give a hero-in-training to use their quirk outside of regulated areas. And all three teens did have their provisional licenses, with Bakugo's being reinstated after he was taken in by Vulcan High. Fighting against a horde of monsters that was attacking the city seemed like a pretty damn heroic thing to do, so the choice that Bakugo had to make was perfectly clear to him. Quickly, he turned to face his father.

"Dad, my friends and I are going to go out," Bakugo said firmly.

"Katsuki, do you not see what's going on?" Masaru said as he pointed to the TV screen, "There are real, literal monsters attacking the city! What if-"

Bakugo cut his father off by slamming his foot on the surface of the coffee table, keeping it there as he glared down at his sitting father. "WE'RE HEROES, DAMN IT!" Bakugo exclaimed, "WE ARE SUPPOSED TO DO DANGEROUS STUFF IN ORDER TO SAVE OTHERS! IF WE DO NIOTHING, THEN THOSE FUCKING MONSTERS ARE GOING TO RUN ROUGHSHOD OVER EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING!"

Masaru recoiled, but soon regained a bit of resolution. He closed his eyes, nodded grimly, and stood up. Masaru walked up to Bakugo, and embraced him in a hug as tears rolled down the sides of his face. "…Your mother is already gone, Katsuki," Masaru said softly, just barely able to keep from crying in full, "Just do me a favor and don't go following after her today. You're the only family that I have left."

Bakugo was stunned by how wracked with grief, wracked with fear and worry, that his father was as the brown-haired man hugged him. Akuma and Sakaki stood by, as they were similarly as stunned by Masaru's plea to the explosive teen. Releasing the hug, Masaru put his hands onto Bakugo's shoulders so that he had his son's full attention. Masaru looked at him with eyes that were wincing due to trying to keep from crying.

"I already had to bury my ex-wife. I don't want to have to bury my son."

The ashy-haired boy's stunned look had a bit of regretful sympathy mixed in. Bakugo lifted his father's hands off of his shoulders and let them drop, allowing Masaru's arms to hang at his sides. "…Don't worry, dad," Bakugo said in a gentle, reassuring tone, "There's no way that I'm going to die today." There was none of the usual brash, cocky overconfidence, or angry bravado, or smug self-assuredness in Bakugo's tone. It was simply him speaking gently, reassuringly.

The kind of tone a son would speak in when he tells his father that he's going to return alive.

Masaru was not convinced enough that Bakugo was going to be okay, but that still had no effect in stopping the brown-haired man from worrying about his son. After the reassurances, Bakugo ran up to his room, quickly got his hero outfit on (he remembered to slip his wallet, which had his reinstated provisional hero license inside, into his pants pocket), then ran back downstairs to meet Akuma and Sakaki. Together, the three Vulcan High students ran out the front door of the Bakugo residence, aiming to do what they could to help turn the tide of the monster horde's siege in the city to favor those fighting off the monsters.

Since Akuma said something about local regular public schools being possible targets, Bakugo led the group in the direction of the nearest such school, which was Azu-Daioh High. When the school was coming into view, Bakugo saw that there was a large wall/glacier of ice choking up the front entry gate of the school. Given how high (and surprisingly thick) the wall surrounding the school was, the monsters outside that were trying to get in were unable to do so because the one point of entry in the front was sealed up.

"IcyHot and the rest of my former classmates must be involved in the fighting here," Bakugo surmised as he looked at what he strongly suspected was the handiwork of Todoroki.

Sakaki nodded in the affirmative. "Yes, Hitoshi told me in a text that he sent me that he and practically every hero at U.A., both pro and in-training, had been called in to help fight off the monster horde. He said that he ended up being grouped with Todoroki and Izuku." Looking at the few monsters that were around, Bakugo figured that they probably lost interest in the school since it was made inaccessible to them, so what large numbers had been here had wandered off elsewhere into the city to do who knows what.

Bakugo led Akuma and Sakaki in attacking what monsters remained outside of Azu-Daioh High, with Bakugo and Akuma taking out most of them. Sakaki was able to hold her own fairly well, as her quirk, a mix of her mother's and her father's, gave her physical strength that allowed her to be on par with the monsters, as well as a high level of resilience to their slams and punches. It seemed as if the fat cat girl's notable plumpness was allowing her to absorb the blows more easily than she would have if she were slender.

When all of the monsters in that area were either knocked out or dead (they were aiming to kill, so Bakugo and his friends decided to aim to kill the monsters), Bakugo led Akuma and Sakaki out of the Azu-Daioh High area. The three of them turned a corner to go down a street where a number of small shops plus a convenience store were located, knowing it to be a shortcut that would lead them to where they figured more fighting would be going on.

After they turned the corner, Bakugo and his Vulcan High classmates spotted Higari Maijima, who is the pro hero and U.A. teacher Power Loader as Bakugo identified him to the others, sitting on the ground against a light post outside of the convenience store on the street. What had utterly alarmed the three heroes-in-training the most about seeing Power Loader being there like that was the fact that they also saw the large pool of blood that he was sitting in, and that blood was bleeding out heavily down the right side of his form.

The three teens ran over to the sitting Higari, with Akuma getting in close to take a look at him. He let out a grim gasp as he found the large gash in Higari's throat. The satanic hero-in-training gave Higari's form a gentle shake with his hand on Higari's right shoulder, but nothing happened save for a bit more blood trickling down the right side of the U.A. teacher's form. Akuma got up from his kneeling to get a closer look at Power Loader, turned to face Bakugo and Sakaki. He turned to face Bakugo, gave him a resigned sigh.

"That teacher from your former school is dead."

Bakugo scoffed in bitter disappointment over the fallen U.A. instructor, turning to look away from Akuma. As he and the others stood there, Bakugo heard a familiar male voice call out to them, Bakugo himself specifically. The three of them all turned to see Aizawa come in, actually swinging in using his capture weapon as a sort of rope to swing on like he was Tarzan or something. After landing and skillfully yanking back his signature hero tool which wrapped back around his neck and shoulders, Aizawa walked up to the three Vulcan students.

"What are you three doing here?" the underground hero asked.

"We heard what was going on here, Aizawa," Bakugo replied in an almost snarl, his tone clearly sounding bitter. Of all of the people that the explosive teen could ever have run into, the aloof, holier-than-thou assfuck that saw to him being expelled from U.A. was the absolute last person that he ever wanted to speak to. Still, given the current situation that was going on in the city, Bakugo felt that there was no reason to let his personal feelings get in the way of doing his hero duties.

"We all have our provisional licenses," Bakugo said as he gestured to himself, Akuma and Sakaki, "So we were hoping that a pro hero would give us permission to help with fighting these monster fuckers that are attacking the-"

"Permission granted," Aizawa said, not wasting even one moment, "I have no idea why Vulcan isn't helping, even though practically every other hero academy in the nation has practically been drafted to help, but if you all are willing to help with fighting the monsters, killing them if need be since all heroes fighting have been granted permission to kill the monsters, then those who are in danger would be illogical in turning away the offered hand."

Stepping forward, Sakaki said to her boyfriend's teacher, "Umm, Mr. Aizawa, Principal Hojo closed the school for a while because of a stomach flu bug that's been going around. She's a bit too worried about spreading it."

Aizawa gave the fat cat girl a considering look, nodding once to show he understood Sakaki's explanation. The underground hero then turned to look at where Higari's body sat propped up against the light post outside of the convenience store on that street. The look on Aizawa's face was grim as he took a look at the wound on Higari's neck. "…It's clear that one of the monsters that's attacking the city had killed Power Loader." Aizawa's tone was grim, somber, the kind that a man would have when regarding the form of a fallen comrade. Turing his attention to look at the Vulcan High students, Aizawa gave them a serious look.

"I don't have to tell you to not end up like him." Bakugo, Akuma and Sakaki all nodded in agreement with the class 1-A homeroom teacher at U.A. Aizawa directed the Vulcan students to go in one direction after reaching the end of the street they were all on, as Aizawa said he was going to go in the opposite direction to re-group with Hizashi. The three heroes-in-training all nodded in the affirmative before they took off running to go do as they would be needed to do. However, they stopped short when Aizawa called out, "Bakugo, wait!"

The ashy-haired boy, a bit annoyed that his former homeroom teacher was holding him up, turned around to face him. To Bakugo's surprise, however, there was a somber, regretful look on the underground hero's face as he looked at him. Aizawa's breath shook a bit, as if he was trying not to burst out with somber, regretful tears. "Bakugo…" Aizawa began in a broken tone, a tone that suggested that the underground hero might actually start crying, "…I am so sorry."

Bakugo…was surprised. He had no idea what to say, what to feel, how to react. He never would have imagined that Aizawa, the man that saw to his expulsion from U.A., the man that had said over an intercom system during the tournament between Vulcan and U.A. that Bakugo was a 'lost cause', was now apologizing to him. Apologizing in a somber, regretful, and broken tone that was very clearly threatening with at least some waterworks.

Why was Aizawa acting and sounding so emotionally broken? Did this have to do with the monster attack on the city? With seeing Power Loader's dead body with the gouged-out throat? The underground hero didn't come across any other heroes that had been killed by the monsters, did he? Either way, Bakugo gave a sigh and gentle shake of his head. "…We can save all of that talk for later, Aizawa. Right now, we ought to focus on doing what we can to stop the monster attack, to save as many innocents as possible."

"…Heh, that's a logical way to think right now, Bakugo," Aizawa remarked, honestly a little amused by his former student's response. Giving the three Vulcan students a nod, Aizawa took off in the direction that he said he would be going in. With the pro hero who gave them the okay to use their quirks having taken off, Bakugo led Akuma and Sakaki down the path that they had been instructed to go down.

Bakugo, Akuma and Sakaki made their way to the edge of the main 'war radius' in the city. Right away, the three teens saw a few fights between the attacking monsters and the pro heroes who were fighting against them. Bakugo also saw a few others fighting the monsters, but none of those others looked like pro heroes that he was familiar with. One was a young adult man with salmon pink hair and was wearing a white scarf, and the man was throwing a lot of fire attacks all over at the monsters. There was also a late thirties man with yellow-blonde long spiky hair and was throwing gigantic blue energy attacks that vaguely looked like large ninja throwing stars.

"It looks like others have arrived to help the pro heroes with fighting off the attacking monsters," Bakugo remarked as he, Akuma and Sakaki went to work on fighting the monsters, succeeding in taking down a few. As the three teens fought, Bakugo spotted the pro heroes Vlad King and Selkie chase a few of the attacking monsters down an alleyway. "Hey, that one guy in the red is my girlfriend's homeroom teacher over at U.A.," Bakugo said as he pointed in the direction that he saw the two pro heroes run down in, "We ought to go help him!"

"Lead the way," Akuma replied after the black flames of his Hail Satan attack had just killed a troll with surprisingly brutal efficiency. Bakugo ran as he led Akuma and Sakaki in the direction that he saw Vlad King and Selkie run down in. The three teens picked up the pace when they heard the pained, gurgling scream of one of the men and the similarly pained but not gurgling scream of the other. None of them had any idea what had happened, and all three of them were fearing for the worst.

Selkie was covering his left eye with his left hand, blood oozing out from under said hand. He had his right eye trained on the two monsters in the alleyway, glaring angrily at them as he has his right fist pulled back, ready to fight for his life. The two monsters, both of the large and hulking trolls, grinned maliciously at the Captain of the Oki Mariner, with the one on Selkie's right even cracking his knuckles.

"You're pretty interesting for one of those special humans that's trying to stop Hirajo from leading us to kill those bastard Shirayukis, whose people led the forces that took the land that the warmonger tribes lived on centuries ago," the knuckle-cracking troll sneered, "I bet that you'll be a fun one to beat into a bloody-"

"HAIL SATAN!"

The two trolls were both immediately engulfed in unforgiving, unholy flames of black, crying out in shocked surprise and pain. As the burning warmongers fell lifelessly to their knees, Selkie turned around and saw three heroes-in-training rush in, with the satanic-looking one's right arm alit with black fire. Suddenly, a look of realizing recognition appeared in Selkie's right eye as he looked at the Bakugo, Akuma and Sakaki.

"Hey, you're those kids from Vulcan who placed first, second and third in that recent tournament against U.A.," Selkie said, "What are the three of you doing here? I didn't hear anything about your school pitching in to help, unlike other hero academies."

"Eraserhead gave the three of us the okay to use our quirks to help with the fighting," Sakaki explained, "Anyway, do you need help?"

The Captain of the Oki Mariner let out a pained yet sarcastically amused laugh. "Heh, yeah, me and Sekijiro can certainly use all the help we can-"

"Oh fuck!" Bakugo exclaimed in a rattled and alarmed tone, cutting Selkie off and prompting him to look with his one uncovered eye to see what had made the explosive teen cry out. On a similar manner, Akuma and Sakaki turned to see what had made Bakugo freak out. To the collective shocked horror of everyone present, they saw Bakugo standing over the pro hero Vlad King, who was laying on the ground in the alleyway in a steadily growing pool of his own blood.

"Sekijiro!" Selkie cried out in worried alarm as he got down on his knees next to Sekijiro. The Captain of the Oki Mariner reached out with both hands, uncovering his covered left eye thus revealing that it had been gouged out, to turn Sekijiro over to see if he had a shot of walking out of there. To the great, somber regret of Selkie, as well as the looks of horror on the faces of the heroes-in-training, a huge gash had been rendered across Sekijiro's torso.

There was also signs that Sekijiro had hit his head on the alleyway ground after he was dropped by an attack from one of the monsters he and Selkie had pursued into the alleyway, hard enough to fracture it. Selkie reached forward with his right hand and placed in on the side of Sekijiro's throat, checking for a pulse. After an agonizingly long and tense (for Bakugo, Akuma and Sakaki) few seconds had passed, Selkie removed his hand, pulling it back as he got back up.

"…One of those monster fuckers had killed him, didn't they?" Selkie turned around to face Bakugo and the others, allowing them so see the disfigurement he suffered when he and Sekijiro had fought the monsters they had chased into the alleyway. Selkie nodded grimly in response to Bakugo's question. "…Fuck," the explosive teen swore. Gesturing to Sekijiro, Bakugo said, "He was my girlfriend's homeroom teacher over at U.A. How the hell am I going to tell her that he was killed?"

"Chances are that the whole of U.A. will be told that Sekijiro had been killed during the monster attack in a memorial assembly after the fighting is over, young man," Selkie explained, "As for how your girlfriend will react, I have no idea how-"

"Selkie! Is that you?" a female voice called out, cutting Selkie off and making him turn to see the pro hero Mirko standing at the entrance to the alleyway with Ryukyu and Mt. Lady, the latter having a tear-streaked look on her face. The three female pro heroes all gasped in shock when they saw that the Oki Mariner's captain had lost an eye in the fighting, and gasped again when they saw that Vlad King was lying eerily still on the ground. It had been Mirko that had called out to Selkie and the Vulcan students.

"Mirko, Mt. Lady, Ryukyu, what's the situation?" Selkie asked in total seriousness, trying to keep on business as he covered his missing eye with his left hand again.

Pointing in a random direction, Mirko said, "The girls and I were all on our way over to the neighborhood where the retirement home and the school for autistic children is located, as we heard that there's a lot of monsters in that area. I have a relative who's staying at the retirement home, and Ryukyu's pretty keen on protecting the special needs kids."

"But we also heard that the area that Azu-Daioh High is located in has been swarmed," Mt. Lady said with somber trouble in her tone, "I was going to split off from Mirko and Ryukyu to go and fight the monsters threating that high school, especially since we heard some students from U.A. are over there and might very well get overran."

"Can you heroes take me and my classmates over to Azu-Daioh High?" Bakugo asked as he stepped forward, "The three of us have been given permission by Eraserhead to help with the fighting by using our quirks. If Mt. Lady does split off from the others, we can help her."

The three female pro heroes looked at Bakugo, as well as Akuma and Sakaki, with looks of consideration, although Mt. Lady still had some tears running down the sides of her face. "You look a lot like that Katsuki Bakugo boy that my interns Uraraka and Tsuyu had told me about," Ryukyu remarked, her tone showing mildly piqued interest.

"That's because I am, and I was in their class before I was expelled from U.A. and accepted into Vulcan," Bakugo replied, "But that's beside the point. The guys from U.A. that are over in the Azu-Daioh High area are in danger, and we need to get over there to help them!"

Mirko turned to look at Mt. Lady, giving her a curious look. "…Can you carry the three of them over to Azu-Daioh High with you?"

"I can very easily do so when I go giant-sized," Mt. Lady replied in the affirmative. The three female pro heroes agreed to take Bakugo, Akuma and Sakaki with them to help deal with the monsters that were attacking over in the Azu-Daioh High area. As Selkie called for help with a communication device, Bakugo and his classmates followed the three female pro heroes out of the alleyway.

As Mt. Lady grew giant and Ryukyu turned into a dragon to take off into the air, the combined six of them, pro heroes and heroes-in-training alike, made their way off to go save as many innocents as they can, civilian and U.A. students alike.

Izuku, who stood between Todoroki and Shinso in the front courtyard of Azu-Daioh High School, watched with growing alarm as the massive wall of ice that Todoroki made with his quirk to fill up the front entry gate to block it off to the monsters was slowly being broken down. Todoroki had made it early, shortly after they had arrived at Azu-Daioh High, in order to buy some time by keeping the monsters out entirely.

It had worked at first, but now a group of the monsters had gathered outside and were trying to break it down. They had formed some large cracks, and Todoroki was trying to keep the wall of ice standing, but the boys were all exhausted and it was only a matter of time until the monsters' superior numbers won out. Another large crack appeared in the ice, and Izuku, Todoroki and Shinso all braced themselves for being swarmed by the unforgiving hordes outside.

Suddenly, the three boys all felt the stomping of a very large being coming in the direction of the normal public high school. It was Izuku who was the first to notice Mt. Lady turn the corner, and the giant pro hero ran up and kicked a few of the monsters outside the school gates away, giving her enough time to set the three teenagers she was carrying down in the Azu-Daioh High grounds. To the surprise of Izuku, Todoroki and Shinso, their former schoolmate Bakugo was among those that Mt. Lady had deposited on the safe side of the walls surrounding Azu-Daioh High.

"You extras need any help?" Bakugo asked, pounding a fist into his hand.

"Kacchan!" Izuku cried out, relieved to see that help had arrived, "Yes! Todoroki, Shino and I can use whatever help we can get our hands on! The monsters are about to break through the ice that Todoroki made to try to keep them-"

*CRASH*

The six heroes-in-training all turned to see the ice wall finally shatter, sending a few of the attacking monsters swarming into school grounds as Mt. Lady stood outside, stomping down on the ones that she was fighting. The six students, U.A. and Vulcan alike, all turned to face the oncoming monsters, ready to give it their all in defense of all that was good, all that would be threatened by the monsters should said monsters succeed in their siege on the city.

"LET'S KICK THEIR FUCKING ASSES!" Bakugo yelled as he led the charge, all six heroes-in-training rushing at the monsters as the monsters rushed at them.

By late afternoon, the fighting all over the city had dwindled down. The hero course students that were defending Azu-Daioh High were still fighting some monsters, but they were relieved when more pro heroes showed up, quickly moving to subdue the remaining monsters. Among the pros who showed up was Endeavor who, after all the fighting in the Azu-Daioh High area was done and over with, went up to Todoroki and threw his arms around him, pulling him into a fatherly embrace as he cried-sincerely, legitimately cried-tears of relief that his youngest child was alive.

Medics soon arrived to help tend to those who had fought to defend Azu-Daioh High. As the medics took a look at all of the hero course students at Azu-Daioh High-Bakugo learned from Izuku that more were in the back of and inside of the school-, Aizawa and Hizashi showed up, given how many U.A, students were fighting in defense of the regular public high school. One of the medics told the U.A. staff members that all heroes-in-training were alive, and the worst was that some of them were exhausted and Yaoyorozu having overused her quirk a bit.

Hizashi, who was briefed by Aizawa on how he gave Bakugo, Akuma and Sakaki the okay to help with the fighting, corrected a medic who almost put the three Vulcan students as students from U.A., and while he was doing that, Aizawa himself talked to Bakugo, Akuma, Sakaki, Izuku, Todoroki and Shinso. "Let me first apologize for having to have you all take part in a massive city-wide attack that had cost many lives," the underground hero began, "There was no excuse in how I and other U.A. staff members had to make you all experience what war is like, especially given that all of you are first years." He let out a troubled sigh before he continued.

"…Now, I want to express how infinitely relieved I am that not only did all of you survive the fighting, but that there wasn't any serious injuries. Given what had happened during our recent field trip over in the United States, I have no idea what I would have done if one of you had been killed at some point during today's fighting. Although I may sound a lot like Sekijiro's student Ibara when I say this, thank God above that all of you are still here." A single tear ran down the right side of Aizawa's face before he wiped it away.

The underground teacher then turned his attention to the three Vulcan students. "…I suppose that Nezu will have to inform Hojo about the three of you helped fight back against the monsters. I'm certain that we can get a spin put on it that will appease your school's principal, given the kind of person that she is."

"At this point Aizawa," Bakugo called out as he raised a tired hand, "As soon as I'm cleared to go, I just want to go back home and clock out."

"Uhh, shouldn't you address him as sensei, Bakugo?" Todoroki asked.

The explosive teen turned to give Todoroki a dry look. "…He's not my teacher anymore, IcyHot. I don't see why I should afford him the courtesy." There was an angered bitterness, laced well with hurt, in Bakugo's words as he spoke. Aizawa, to his credit, looked regretful as he heard his former student speak those hurt, bitter words. The underground hero was now finding himself very much regretting having Bakugo expelled from U.A. that fateful day

And no, Aizawa's regret had nothing to do with what all had happened today during the monsters' attack on the city.

By the time all of the heroes-in-training were cleared to go, many of them were escorted to wherever they had to go. This meant that for the three heroes-in-training that attended Vulcan High, they all went to their respective homes. When an exhausted Bakugo walked through the front door of the house where he and his father lived, Masaru ran right over and threw his arms around him, drawing his son into a loving, fatherly embrace as he cried tears of relief that his son had come back home alive.

Now Bakugo understood how Todoroki felt when Endeavor hugged the IcyHot boy.

Bakugo ended up collapsing into a plush leather armchair that was in the living room, barely being able to take his grenade gauntlets off before passing out from a mix of sheer exhaustion and the weight of everything that he had experienced today. Masaru, smiling warmly over his safely at home son, got a blanket out from a linen closet and draped it over Bakugo, covering him from the neck and shoulders down, to keep him warm as he slept.

The monsters' attack on the city had been truly devastating, and there had been great losses on the heroes' side as they helped the good monsters fight off the hordes of Hirajo. But the day had been won by the side of good, and the mourning of those who were lost could begin in earnest tomorrow. For now, the surviving heroes of today, exhausted and wounded, needed time to rest and recover themselves. The names of many heroes, pro or otherwise, would be going down in history due to the actions that had taken place this day.

One of those names was Katsuki Bakugo.

END, CHAPTER ELEVEN

Author's notes;

I was never expecting to do multiple chapters for the monster siege mini-arc in this story, given that this story is primarily focused on Bakugo so most parts that don't see him take part aren't all that necessary here (the chapter where 1-A went to the United States was needed due to how the lack of Bakugo being there greatly affected how things went down). Regardless, the attack of the monsters was able to be worked in.

There's…something else that you may have noticed. In the main story, the only heroes who had died in the monster siege were four nameless fodder characters that weren't even seen. Here however, two named characters from the series proper were very clearly seen having been killed during the fighting. I'm very sorry if their deaths here came to you all as a shock, but this story is a lot more serious than the main story; seeing all the named characters skate on by without ever getting more than a few small bumps simply can't work here.

The next chapter that I have planned…hoo boy, it's going to see those who lived find out who all had fallen during the monster siege. I'm going to warn all of you right now that it's not going to be pretty. Also, keep in mind that this isn't the main story; it's simply an AU. A lot more people (named characters) will live in the main story, so it's not a total end of the world type of deal.
