Surprise, surprise! As soon as I finished this chapter I decided to post it as is. To those asking what was different on the last chapter, it was a repost since there were some who weren't able to view it.
Like always, apologies for any grammatical mistakes. Also, I started writing stories on Wattpad on my spare time - if you're interested on reading any of those, I'll post a link at the end of this chapter in an A/N.
Disclaimer: Disclaimed.
Walking towards the front of the building where his car was parked out in front, he felt a shift of movement from the body secured tightly in his arms.
Not wanting to show her that he felt it, he kept his face neutral but picked up his pace, already seeing the sunlight pouring inside from the door opened in front of him.
Just a shy few feet from the door the inedible happened.
The screeching of wheels could be heard all throughout the neighborhood as agents flooded from vehicles, weapons up and ready to fire on command.
Dimitri pushed on the breaks hard, him and his fellow passengers inside the van lurching forward and seatbelts catching their chests hard with the sudden stop. Untangling themselves they hopped out, pulling their service guns out of their holsters.
Every agent before him tensed as they filtered out and started moving slowly away from the alley they had parked in. He heard glass being crushed beneath their shoes, a dank smell coming from the walls of the two buildings on the side of them.
Trash littered the ground, rodents scurrying around and finding shelter from the humans loitering their area.
The sound of a car running in the background could be heard loud and clear, making them head towards it.
The warehouse came into view, the only one standing in front of them with no other buildings surrounding it. It looked just like the other ones they've passed along the way – deserted with missing or cracked large windows lining the bottom half while the top was just structured with steel, tiny inhuman sized widows decorating it here and there.
Making sure no one was around, with a quick motion of his head Dimitri gave the signal for the first team to head out and go around the back of the building. The other two teams waited a breath before also following, the agents splitting in half as they flanked the sides. Him and the ones riding with him along with a few others moved as one towards the front where the car was at, seeing no one inside it.
Checking the plates to make sure it was the car they saw Luke driving, it felt like a collective sigh was expelled from everyone present.
The car was here. In front of this building. Probably where Rose was held.
No doubt Luke had planned on moving her to another location.
Hand held his above his head, he gave the signal 'go,' another agent repeating his command on the coms for the other units stationed around and moved towards the opening.
As the passed through the doors, silence greeted them.
Eyes trained on the computer screen before him, Mason saw movement from another camera located near the warehouse where they figured Rose was being held at.
He typed and clicked around, replaying the tape back to make sure he got what had initially caught his eye.
The tape rolled, a gasp coming out from his mouth.
"Shit, this is a clusterfuck."
Hands shaking, he flung them towards his phone, punching in the numbers he knew by heart, praying Dimitri picked up his phone in time.
The silence stretched for an eternity, guns moving left and right as they scanned the inside of the building. Soft footfalls could be heard as the team stationed out back worked their way towards the front, catching up with his team.
Frowning, Dimitri checked with the two teams on the sides, both giving a sharp negative that they saw or found both Luke and Rose.
Seeing a flight of stairs located to the side, he jerked his head towards it, motioning the other field agent to move towards it with his teams. Nodding, the other agent signaled his teams, their steps loud as the moved and started climbing it, weapons cocked at an angle.
He moved his eyes around, scanning the area and hoping something cached his eye. A door off to the far right side blared like a beacon of sunlight in the somewhat lighted room.
"Ivan, Trae, Vanessa, Holly, come with me," he motioned to his fellow team and passengers, nodding his head at the door.
Stealthily they moved, eating up the distance between them and the door, arriving in seconds. Ivan and Holly flanked his side, tensing as Dimitri grabbed the doorknob and started pulling it outwards.
The dark room smelled of blood, sweat and mold, their nostrils flaring as those scents rushed at them. Grimacing, the slowly made their way inside, finding a chair located in the middle, a bloodstained rope in pieces marring the floor. They looked around, trying to find a clue as to where Luke or Rose might be at.
Trailing his eyes along the doorframe, he felt his breath catch as he saw streaks of blood along with gouges against the wood and cement. He traced it with his finger, knowing he shouldn't be touching anything before the forensic teamed arrived, but couldn't seem to help himself knowing exactly who had caused those scratches.
'Oh baby, my sweet Roza, how you've suffered holed up in this hole.'
Tears burned the back of his eyes, his breath coming out in rough exhales as he tried to control his emotions before they took over.
He needed a clear head if he wanted to continue on his search for Rose, knowing he could be pulled if he showed his fellow team members he was about to break down.
He got lucky being able to even join in this, thanks to his rank and cashing in a few favors people from higher positions owed him over the years. He couldn't screw this up. Needed to be the one who finally found her, alive.
Alive, because dead wasn't even an option.
Tensing her body slightly, Rose prepared herself to launch at Luke in order to prevent him from taking her somewhere else.
As she got ready, she felt his pace quicken, red piercing her lids as she felt the warmth of sunlight crash against her face. She knew that if he crossed passed that door, she would have no chance of being able to escape him.
It was now or never.
Remembering her training, she swung her body towards his chest, jamming her right harm up and towards his chin.
Her fist flew through the air, not catching anything in its upwards ascent.
'The hell?'
Gravity seemed to take hold as the arms around her dropped away from her body, her right side catching the hard cold floor beneath her, making her ribs, pelvis and knee hit the cement hard.
"Fuck!"
Her side screamed with pain, making her vision hazy as she opened her eyes and looked at the man standing a few feet away from her. A nasty grin sickeningly grazing his lips.
Nausea rolled in her stomach, bile rushing up her throat as she tried desperately to push it down. This was not the time to be sick, especially with a psycho staring right at her.
Luke tsked at her, shaking his head as a laugh poured out from his mouth, "did you really think I would fall for that? You do remember that I was the one who taught you all of these tricks, right?"
Cursing, she tried to sit up, a sharp pain taking hold of her side and making the vomit she just pushed down rise up back again. She knew, without a doubt, that she broke a rib or two and that complicated things.
"Why don't we try this again? But maybe with your wrist and feet bound so you don't try anything stupid again."
Turning on his feet to head back to the room they had just left, Rose rose up slowly, her breath coming out choppy.
Luke stopped halfway, arching an eyebrow in her direction and moving his gaze to the hand she held to her side, trying not to jar her ribs too much.
"You know you are in no condition to run or fight me, so just do me a favor and stop."
"Why?" Rose taunted back, grinning softly as Luke's eyes narrowed into slits, "you think I can't fight bac-"
"- I know you can't. You're barely holding yourself together. Pretty sure you cracked a few ribs too from that nasty fall."
Shrugging, Rose made her way backwards towards the door, heat penetrating through the clothing on her back.
Luke growled and started walking back to her, his longer strides taking him closer to her much faster than the slow shuffling she was doing.
If an outsider saw this playing out in front of them, they might start calling her stupid for taking her sweet time in trying to escape. Thankfully, stupidity was not her forte.
Arms stretched out trying to grasp her arm, she saw the moment his right calf muscle tensed, ready to spring his body out at her. She launched her body out towards him, seeing surprise flash on his face as she let her full body weight hit him square on the chest.
Quickly, although painfully, she wrapped her leg around his right one and pulled back, watching as it buckled and bent, sending them both crashing to the ground. The 'pop' was loud and oddly satisfying as Luke's knee bent at an awkward angle, his screams loud in the large empty space.
Huffing, Rose moved her body away from his, standing up even as her side burned like hell.
She moved quickly towards the opening, taking a quick glance back at Luke as he rolled on the ground holding onto his knee. His eyes flashed angrily as he stared right back at her, a shiver taking hold of her body.
Grabbing her ribs, she jogged outside and towards the car.
With both hands placed side-by-side on his knee, Luke pressed and jerked it back in place. Agony traveled up his leg, making another scream rip through his throat. The hazy film that took hold of his vision lifted after a few seconds, knowing this pain was nothing compared to the others he suffered in the past.
Taking a few lung fills of air, he hardened his body and got up from the ground, a dull throb the only thing left flaring from his once dislocated knee.
Pain was nothing new to him, in fact he believed it made him stronger. Invincible. Almost like Super Man – no, better than him.
With renown strength he walked through the front door, picking up his pace when he saw Rose heading towards the car. Prepping his body, he slammed it against hers when he saw her trying to open the door.
Screaming in pain, Rose tried desperately to fight back against him, trying to dislodge his body away from hers.
Grabbing a fistful of hair, he yanked her head back and crashed it towards the car, hearing it crack sickeningly as it impacted against it.
He felt her body slump as she lost consciousness, taking hold of her shoulders as he moved his hand towards his jeans, looking for his keys. He felt the cold metal right as the sounds of the alarm in his phone went off.
"Shit, shit, FUCK!"
He slipped his hands underneath her body, picking it up as he moved away from the car and started running away from both it and the building. He knew of an underground tunnel located not too far from where he was at, something not known to the public due to it being too poorly constructed.
Luckily, he scouted the area way ahead of time in case he needed a second backup plan. The tunnel traveled all the way to Fort Worth, not an ideal location but far away to give him enough time to plan what he was going to go next.
He slowed his run, his knee flaring with pain as the added weight put too much pressure on it and causing it to hurt.
The vibration in his pocket jarred him from his crouching position in front of the doorframe.
Taking out his phone, he saw Mason's name flash on the screen, his heart picking up knowing it was news related to Rose.
"Speak."
"You guys needs to get out and start heading west of the building, now! There was movement caught on camera just a few minutes ago, it was of Luke carrying Rose."
Clicking off his phone, he started shouting orders to everyone to move out fast.
There was no time to spare.
