Beautiful You Chapter 11

I own nothing.

"Thank you for bringing me home, Jared. You really didn't have to," I said as he placed me carefully on our old couch.

Sue had sent us on our way with a pair of crutches that I sucked at using. I had no clue how I was going to make it from class to class even if Forks High School was small. I had tried using said crutches to hobble to my truck, only to have Jared pick me up like a small child and carry me to the truck.

"I could have gotten myself to the truck, you know," I had pouted as he started driving back towards Forks.

"I know you could, but if I'm around, I will always help you," he had replied, smiling over at me.

"You are welcome," Jared said, grabbing pillows off of one of the recliners to put under my leg.

"And thank you for driving through the pharmacy to drop off my prescription for me. Hopefully Charlie will pick it up for me on his way home."

"Don't even worry about it, Bell," the giant man assured me, taking a seat in a recliner. "It was my pleasure."

"Why do you call me that?" I blurted out causing an instant blush to appear on my face.

"Why do I call you Bell?" he asked, smiling. I nodded, watching from under my hair. I found myself wanting to hide from an awkward conversation that I ultimately started.

"Well, it kind of just came out, honestly," Jared admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. "It kind of just rolled off my tongue. It feels right to call you Bell. But if it bothers you, I will stop immediately."

"No it doesn't bother me, " I answered him. "Dad and Jake call me Bells, so Bell isn't too far from that. I kind of like it. It's Better than being called Muffin, that's for sure."

"Who calls you Muffin?" he asked, frowning.

"My mother started calling me that when I started gaining all this weight when I was younger. Her husband calls me Muffin Top."

"Are you kidding me?" Jared growled, his hands forming into fist as he started shaking.

"Calm down, Jared. That's one of the many reasons that Charlie had me move here with him. I'm here now with Jake, Billy, Dad; all people who love me and would never judge me," I reminded him, trying to calm the wolf man down. The last thing we needed was for a giant wolf to destroy half of our living room.

Jared took some deep breaths, visibly calming down as he did so. I had no clue why he got so upset over a stupid nick name that Phil had for me. For some reason, Jared seemed to care for me in some capacity.

"I'm sorry about that," he said after a few minutes. "I usually have more control over myself then that."

"That's alright. I guess i shouldn't have said anything about the nicknames that my mother and step father have for me. I usually don't share things like this. I think it's the meds that Sue had me take before we left the clinic," I babbled, quickly biting my tongue so that I would shut the hell up.

"No, you can always tell me anything, Bell. I can't promise to never have another reaction like that, but i can promise to always try to calm down quickly," Jared promised. "Your voice has a calming effect on me it seems."

Before I could ask how I calmed him down, my phone started ringing. "It's my dad," I told Jared before answering.

"Hi Dad," I answered.

"Bella, are you okay?" Sam just called me and told me that you FRACTURED your foot?! Why didn't you call me? I would have been there as quickly as possible."

"I know, Dad, but I didn't want to worry you until I knew what was wrong," I started, but Charlie cut me off.

"How the hell did you even get down to the reservation? You could have wrecked on the way down there? It was your right foot, right?" he yelled. I knew he wasn't mad at me, not really. He was just worried about me. And probably a little scared.

"Yes Dad. It is my right foot. And I called over to Jacob's, because I knew I wouldn't be able to drive myself safely. But Sam answered and let me know that Jake wasn't there and asked if he could do anything for me. I told him I had fallen and wanted Jake to help me get to the hospital."

"They don't go to the hospital in Forks, Bells," Charlie informed me.

"That's exactly what he told me. So I told him it was okay and that I would call an ambulance or you and ask if you would take me. Sam then insisted that he would send someone down to help me. So, Jared showed up and helped me. He's been very kind," I added, glancing over at Jared who grinned at me.

"Jared? Jared Cameron?" he asked, sounding surprised.

"Yes Dad. Jared Cameron. He came here and drove me down to La Push in my truck. Then he carried me into the clinic.."

"He carried you?" Dad asked, his Chief of police voice coming out.

"Yea, he carried me into the room, where Sue examined my foot, then helped me into the wheelchair to go get my xray. Then, he carried me out to the truck after I got my cast on. Did I tell you it was black, Charlie? That way, people can sign it with my silver and white paint pens that I love. I think Jared might sign it. He's fun to look at, did you know?"

"Bells, Bells!" Dad thankfully interrupted my rant. "Did Sue give you pain meds?"

"She sang the amazing song of the pain pill gods, Charlie Boy! They are amazing! She even wrote a remix addition that my wolf man drove me to take to the people with the white coats," I yawned. Deep in the back of my brain I was screaming at myself to shut the hell up.

"People with the white coats, Bells?" Dad asked, sounding amused.

"Bell, would you like me to talk to Charlie so that you can rest?" Jared offered.

"Bells, is Jared still there?" Charlie asked.

"Yea, Dad, heth rightcher," I slurred. "Thank you for talking to my Charlie, Wolf Man."

"Anytime, Bell," he grinned, putting a pillow behind my head. I snuggled down in the old, comfortable couch, listening to Jared's part of the conversation.

"Hello, Sir," he started. "Yes, I'm here with her until you get home, sir." There was a brief pause in the conversation. He looked down at me from where he was pacing. I gave him two thumbs up. "Yes Sir, I think she is, sir."

Whatever the question was, the answer seemed to set Charlie off again because I could hear him yelling through the phone. I couldn't hear what he was saying, but he didn't sound happy.

"She will always have a choice, sir," Jared promised my dad. If I had been of a sound mind at all, I would have wanted to know what the hell was going on. But at that point, I was enjoying the view of Jared's behind every time he paced away from me.

"The people in the white coats?" Jared laughed. "We took her prescription down to the pharmacy. I know she was in a lot of pain while we were at the clinic. Sue gave her meds while we were there to help with it."

After a few minutes of Charlie talking Jared nodded. "Yes, Sir. I will see you soon"

"Here's your phone, Bell," Jared said, handing it to me.

"Thank you," I yawned, snuggling further down on the couch.

Jared chuckled and retrieved a blanket from the back of the recliner. He walked over and covered me up, being careful not to touch my newly wrapped foot.

"Your dad is stopping at the pharmacy and stopping to pick up some dinner. He should be here soon."

"Are you leaving me?" I asked, turning on my side to look at him through my closing eyes.

"No, Bell. I'm not leaving you," he assured me as he sat back in the recliner he had sat before.

"Promise?" I slurred as my eyes finally closed.

"I promise."

The sound of people talking woke me up some time later.

"Thank you for staying with her, Jared. I still wish she would have called me, but i'm gls she wasn't in so much pain that she didn't think to call down to Jake," I heard Charlie say.

"It was no problem at all, Chief," Jared assured him.

Charlie sighed and I could picture him pinching the bridge of his nose like he does when he's about to state an uncomfortable conversation.

"Jared, I understand what this means for you, but she has had a rough few years. I want her to live the life that SHE wants to, not a life controlled by something so supernatural and out of her control.."

"Chief, I promise you that i will not ask anything of her. I want to get to know her. I want her to get to know me. Not the wolf or the Supernatural thing that I had no control over. I want her to know Jared Cameron. I want her to know my love of cooking and my hopes to open a restaurant one day. I want to know everything about her. If Bell wants to just have me as a friend, I will be the best friend she could ever ask for. But if she wants me as more, Sir, she would never want for anything. She would be my Sun, my Moon and my stars. I would treat her like the Queen she is and I would never ask her to do anything she didn't want to do," Jared declared boldly.

"Well, when you put it that way, what father would disagree with that?" Charlie mumbled.

What the actual hell was that, I wondered, completely flabbergasted by the speech that Jared just gave. The man just met me earlier that day. Why would a man like Jared want a girl like me for anything other than a friend? It must be the medication, I decided. I'm high and I'm dreaming that a handsome wolf boy wants me to be his Queen. Man, Sue really hooked me up with the good stuff! I moved, a little trying to adjust myself; causing a hiss to escape my lips, waking me fully up.

"Bells?" Charlie called, walking quickly back into the living room, followed closely by Jared. "How are you feeling, kid? Are you in any pain?"

"I think the pill is still working, I just have a little pain at the moment," I admitted.

"I can get you another one after you eat something. I got some pizza and some cheesy girly movie the kid at the store said teenage girls like," Charlie said, blushing slightly.

"Awe, Dad, you didn't have to do that. You know I would be happy just watching some kid of sports ball with you," I said, smiling up at him.

Jared snorted. "Did you just say sports ball, Bell?"

"What if I did?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest.

"She calls all sports 'Sports Ball'", my traitor father informed him.

Jared laughed and shook his head. "That's the funniest thing I've heard in a long time."

I huffed and moved my leg, forgetting for a moment about my fracture. "Son of a bitch!" I hissed.

"Bells, calm down, kid. Let me get the pizza and we can eat and watch this movie I bought."

"I'll go, so you can get some rest," Jared said quickly, walking over to the couch. He picked up my phone and looked down at me. "May I put my phone number in your phone? That way you can call or text me if you need anything."

Blushing, I nodded. "Sure, but only if you text me back."

"You can count on that."
