(A/n: ❤ Happy Valentines Day! ❤ Don't know if it was noticed or not, but I deleted my angsty Valentine Stenny one-shot fic and decided to add it here in the Stenny short stories collection. I really appreciate those who faved and followed it though. It's still the same but with grammar and other errors fixed as well as some changes...Then again I'll have to look back and see if there's any fresh errors later lol
Summary: February 14th, a day Kenny loathes and will never enjoy again without him by his side...

Chapter 20: Lost Valentine
February 14th was a somber day in South Park.
Normally during this time, kids would be in school giving the person they liked a card and a box of chocolates or flowers, along with a love confession in either the form of a letter or verbally.
However today was different. Very different, and he wished in vain that such a day hadn't came.
There was no school today due to a heavy downpour. The clouds that always blocked out the blue sky and sun were a shade darker than usual, surprisingly the rain hadn't turned into ice yet. The snow on the ground stayed persistent against the constant flow of rain, so did a lone teenager. The outside was void of any people but himself, taking shelter and celebrating a certain holiday indoors with their loved ones.
All except Kenny.
He was soaked to the bone, having been out here ever since yesterday night when the shower began. He honestly had nowhere to go to, his home had downgraded to a place filled with nothing but drugs thanks to his parents' non-stop addiction, and the other place he'd been going to no longer felt comfortable.
His jaded eyes effected further by the ambience around him, Kenny looked down at a tombstone through wet fringes of blonde hair, a bunch of drenched flowers and stuffed animals were littered around it. Not a single one of the offerings came from Kenny. Carved onto the stone was the usual whenever somebody died: their full name, date of both the year they were born and when they died, then underneath was an epitaph.
Kenny had been here more than he could count, most occasions he was by himself. During those times, he wanted to bring something along with him. Something he thought would be of equal value to the items others brought. Sadly, he couldn't find the appropriate job to aid him some money. Prostitution only gave him a small sum, because he had to end it the second week due to the diseases he'd contract from his customers. Half of them killed him a month or two later, and he had to spend an equal amount of time in Hell. Of course he wouldn't see him in the infernal afterlife. The next and last thing he did was sell his parents' drugs. He didn't get far doing that either, dying by the hands of his intoxicated father the moment he was caught stealing.
Kenny was sure he hated that he did those things in the past, even more so at the fact that he'd taken up doing drugs himself. Right after his passing.
It's still unfathomable for Kenny to grasp, even to this day. How the news of his abrupt death spread like a wild fire around the small town amidst this very month.
They'd gotten together in middle school, Kenny was the one who confessed. He had beat Wendy to the punch and dragged a confused boy wearing a red poof ball hat with some black strands of hair sticking out underneath to Stark's Pond, deeming it a start and if not a cheesy way to confess his feelings. The first thing Kenny did was loosen the strings to his hood on his parka and pulled his hood back, allowing his friend to see the entirety of his face.
The boy's sapphire eyes studied Kenny's slightly dirty and greasy blonde hair, his cheeks doted with faintly noticeable freckles, and his hazel eyes that seemed as though they were gleaming without the need of sunlight to highlight their color. He had a baby's face despite being so skinny, making the other blush at his appearance, later causing Kenny to do the same but bashfully. Did he look weird or something?
Shaking away the negative thought, Kenny rubbed his left arm looking down at the ground. "U-umm..." He stuttered, feeling the heat in his cheeks increasing along with his heartbeat. He was so nervous, uncertain if he should just tell him straight out that he liked him or spout the things he liked about him that led him to have these feelings towards him. He'd seen the girls and guys do it at school, and they made it seem easy, as well as embarrassing.
Meanwhile sapphire eyes still had a transfixed gaze on the timid blonde before them. Kenny's features was something he never imagined seeing, he'd envisioned something else entirely if he ever witnessed Kenny with his hood down. There was one word floating about in his mind, and that was:
"Cute..."
He instantly snapped out of his daze, his and Kenny's faces flushing after that one word. "I-I uhhh...I didn't mean to..." The noirette trailed off, rubbing the back his neck while avoiding eye contact with Kenny. He just had to say that out loud.
Kenny didn't know what to say, rubbing his arm again with his eyes looking off to the side. But the additional butterflies in his stomach did confirm one thing - his friend didn't think he was ugly or filthily looking. He decided to accept his genuine compliment, looking up at the slightly taller boy with a small smile spreading across his lips.
"T-thank you Stan."
A bit taken aback, Stan glanced up at Kenny lowering his hand back to his side.
Kenny closed his eyes and took in a deep breath, but his tense posture failed to relax completely. "..U-um, I-I like you. W-would you...like to go out with me?" He asked, struggling to keep his gaze on the boy as embarrassment struck him at full force.
Stan took a moment to answer. This was the first time he'd ever received a confession from a guy, and from his friend no less. He wasn't sure if he even swung that way or not, however he wasn't repulsed by it, not in the slightest which led him to think back to what he said just seconds ago.
He called Kenny cute.
The reminder caused him to blush again, and he looked away. Kenny frowned at the action, misinterpreting it as an act of awkward disgust. He clenched his arm and lowered his head, his blonde bangs shadowing over his eyes that were on the verge of shedding tears. He felt like an idiot, of course Stan wasn't gay. He should've let Wendy confess to him instead. Without another word and keeping his head angled down, Kenny released his arm and walked forward, almost taking off into a sprint if his wrist hadn't been caught.
He didn't bother to turn around, not wanting Stan to see his crying face. Even though Stan hadn't rejected him verbally, it still hurt just as much silently. Just when he's about to yank himself free, he suddenly found himself being pulled back, his back hitting Stan's chest. Slowly, as if he's very hesitant, Stan wrapped his arms around Kenny's waist.
Immensely startled, Kenny then blushed deeply at their position, feeling his heartbeat matching a rapid pace with Stan's. "S-Stan wha-"
"I don't know, but I couldn't let you leave," Stan said softly. He pulled away to turn Kenny around to face him, Kenny finding his light pink cheeks and small grin just as cute. "I haven't given you a reply yet." He wiped the blonde's tears away with his thumb, then let his hand linger on his cheek. "It'll be my first time going out with a guy, but...since it's you I'll give it a shot."
Kenny's reaction was a bit delayed since he didn't expect Stan to agree to go out with him, hugging the boy into a tight embrace with tears of relief and happiness leaking out from his closed eyelids. Stan hugged him back, and through the remainder of the day, they spent their Valentines at the Marsh's house.
Back to present time, a single tear slid down Kenny's cheek before more followed suit. They fell from his cheeks, splashing to the ground along with the rain drops. He neared and sat behind the gravestone, leaning back against it's cool, damp surface. Frowning sadly, he looked up shutting his eyes, wet blonde bangs matted to his forehead.
"Happy Valentines Day...and three year anniversary Stan."
(A/n: Funny how I did a one-shot of Kenny liking this very day, but in this one he hates it lol I hope you enjoyed and the next chapter will be up soon)
