Disclaimer: I do not own Nancy Drew or The Hardy Boys and am making no money off this. Thanks to Candylou for the review and thanks as always to Cherylann Rivers whose suggestions made this better. I have a new poll on my profile. It's about some future SuperMysteries that I have planned. I'm just curious to see which one people would like to see next after I wrap Trouble In Full Supply and Red For Danger up. As always, comments including constructive criticism are welcomed.

Nancy stared at the closed shutter, hoping to see it raise. There was nothing but a series of thuds and clangs. She kept her eyes fixed on the door, barely daring to breathe. Finally, the door started to open. Who was it? Would it be Frank or would it be Dan Tyler or one of his goons? Out of the corner of her eye, Nancy saw Joe emerge from his hiding place and slip into the shadows on the other side of the yard.

The shutter continued on its upward course. Nancy shifted into a karate stance, ready to defend herself. George and Ryan held each other tighter. A pair of shoes were revealed. Nancy felt her muscles tense. All the time, she kept her gaze trained on the shutter. It cranked upwards to reveal the torso and shoulders of whoever was standing in the doorway.

After what seemed like an eternity, the shutter revealed the face of Frank Hardy.

"Frank!" Nancy called, her heart sinking down from her mouth.

"Hey!" Frank called back before a shape loomed behind him and wrapped an arm around his throat in a deadly stranglehold.

Nancy couldn't believe what was happening. She tried to get closer but her whole body felt like it was wading through quicksand. She wanted to look away but found that she couldn't avert her gaze.

Suddenly, there was a blur of movement and Luke leapt out of the shadows and latched himself onto Frank's attacker. There was a howl of pain and the shape let go of Frank.

Finally able to move, Nancy ran to Frank and helped him to his feet. "Let's get out of here before the rest of them decide to join in," he said.

Nancy, Frank, Ryan and George piled into the Hardys' rental car. Frank barely waited until the doors were closed before he sped off.

"Where are we going? Shouldn't we wait for Joe and Luke?" George asked from the back seat.

"We're going back to the hotel," Frank answered, "We have to get Ryan to a safe place before we call the cops. We'd be sitting ducks if we stayed where we were."

The car drove through the industrial area. There were few other cars on the streets. If Dan Tyler caught up to them, there would be no witnesses.

Nancy stared out at the road ahead of them. She remembered how Dan Tyler's goons had tried to force her and George into the river. Would they try the same trick again?

It was when they were crossing the bridge over the river that Nancy spotted the familiar car. "They're coming for us," she called.

"Hang on," Frank replied and gunned the engine. Despite his efforts, the green car soon caught up to them. Nancy felt the car shake as the other car rammed into them.

"We can't let them get us against the side," she warned, "or we'll be in the river for sure."

"Got you," Frank answered.

The green car continued its assault on them. Again and again, Nancy could feel it as they were hit. She knew Dan Tyler would stop at nothing to prevent Ryan from telling all he knew to the police.

Nancy turned her head and looked into the back seat. George and Ryan sat close together, clutching each other. Nancy wanted to comfort them, to tell them everything would be alright but she couldn't. She wasn't even sure if they'd make it across the bridge.

The green car had stopped slamming into the rear of their car. It crept up to the side of them and swung wildly out, preparing to force them to the edge.

"They're trying to get us closer to the side," she told Frank.

"We'll shake them," he replied. His eyes remained fixed on the other car. His hands gripped the steering wheel tighter.

The green car slammed into their side, pushing them towards the edge.

"They're going in for another shove," George said as the green car swung out again.

Nancy put one hand against the dashboard in order to steady herself. Even so, she still felt the jolt when the other car plowed into them.

This time the car didn't swing out. It stayed close, shoving them nearer and nearer to the drop.

"If we don't do something really soon, we'll be in the river," George said.

"Hold on," Frank answered, "I'm going to try something.

He gave the wheel a sharp turn and Nancy was jolted in her seat as their car shoved back against the other car.

The action seemed to not deter their pursers who continued to push the car closer to the edge of the bridge.

"Push harder, Frank!" George cried.

Frank sped up and shoved against the green car, this time with more force. Slowly, their car gained inches of ground.

The green car renewed its assault on them, pushing them back over toward the edge. It swung out again, preparing to give them a further shove.

"Now's our chance, Frank!"Nancy said.

Their car sped up and soon reached the end of the bridge.

"They won't give up just because they can't get us in the river any more," George warned.

They entered the busy city center. The streets were full of clubbers, taxis and pizza delivery drivers. Nancy watched the green car slice its way through the late night traffic. Frank negotiated a turn and then they were heading back out of town toward the hotel, the green car still right on their tail.

"Once we're out of the car, we hit the ground running," Frank said. "We can't let them get the jump on us now."

"Right," Nancy said. George didn't speak but only gave a small nod.

The towering beacon of the hotel grew closer and closer. Nancy gripped the side of her seat. Her nails dug into the fabric.

Frank pulled into the hotel's underground parking lot. The car's tires squealed on the asphalt.

Frank jerked the car to a stop. It had barely come to a halt when the group scrambled out.

"We'll head for our suite," Frank said.

"Frank, that's six floors up," Nancy said, "and the elevators are glass walled. How are we going to make it there without being spotted?"

"We'll just have to choose our moment," Frank replied.

The four of them hurried across the parking lot and were soon in the elevator headed up to the hotel lobby.

When they stepped out of the elevator, Nancy glanced franticly round the lobby. To her horror, she saw Dan Tyler up on the mezzanine!
