"Hey, Kenya. Wake up."
"Huh?" Kenya woke up surprisingly easily. "Whatdoyouwant?"
"You signed up for the tournament next month, right?"
"Yeah."
"You need three pokemon." She went silent.
"Oh." She said after a minute or so. "Can I borrow one of yours?"
"Of course not!" I punched the bottom of her bunk. "Catch your own!"
"Maybe the three pokemon thing is just a limit," Bianca commented. "Like you can only have up to three pokemon."
"I doubt that." I pushed my feet up against Kenya's bunk, pressing her mattress. "You should catch one just in case." Kenya squirmed, grunting.
"Where should I catch one?" I dropped my feet.
"What about the desert resort?" Bianca suggested. "There are a lot of strong pokemon out there. It's just off of Route 4."
"Let's go!" Kenya jumped off of her bunk.
"It's the middle of the night," I complained.
"Now would be the best time," Bianca sat up. "The area should be a lot less busy at night."
"Let's go!" Kenya repeated. I begrudgingly rolled out of my bed.
"Fine." The three of us got ready and headed south from Nimbasa City. The desert of route 4 was cold. Bianca led us off the road, into a rocky area.
"Watch out for quicksand," Bianca said waving at another trainer.
"Who's that?" Kenya waved at the trainer, he waved.
"That's Jerry," Bianca replied. "He can heal your pokemon. I don't what he's doing out here this late at night, though."
"Maybe the same thing we are," I said as I let out Pignite. "Well?"
"What kind of pokemon are there around here?" Kenya started wandering around. Bianca and I watched Kenya walk in circles. It was a few seconds before Kenya dropped into the sand, vanishing.
"Did she just?" I took a step forward, looking around.
"She fell." A loud laughter came from a few feet away. A tall guy walked towards us.
"Your friend is an idiot!" The guy shook his head. "She walked right into that quicksand without a second thought!"
"Who's that?" Bianca asked.
"I don't know," I wandered towards the area Kenya fell, ignoring the guy. Kenya was probably fine.
"I'm Luke," The guy approached Bianca. I felt myself slipping into the sand and stepped back.
"Hey, Bianca, you know what's down there?" I turned to them.
"Yeah it's a tunnel system," Bianca explained. "She's fine." She pointed to a collection of statues and pillars. "The regular entrance is over there." I walked back to Bianca. Luke was rambling on about the Nimbasa tournament. I shared an uncomfortable look with Bianca.
"Could you leave us alone?" I asked, attempting to be polite.
"Back off!" Luke pushed me away. Pignite grunted, getting between us.
"This pig wants to fight?" Luke sent out a Throh. "Your pig won't stand a chance against me!" The Throh marched up to Pignite, threatening to punch it. Bianca let out her Audino.
"Hey! Fight me instead," Bianca took off her hat and tossed it to me, I caught it and backed away. Luke scratched his chin.
"You know normal type pokemon are weak to fighting types right?"
"Yeah, what of it?"
"Whatever, I'll show you." Throh turned to Audino. "Brick break!" Throh pivoted, chopping Audino in the side of the head. Audino stumbled but recovered quickly. "Oh, I'm surprised it didn't go down with one hit. Throh hit it again!" Throh struck again. Audino raised its arm, blocking the hit. How was Audino this tough? When'd I'd battled her, Pidove knocked Audino out with a single steel wing.
"Double slap!" Audino grabbed Throh's arm and struck it across the face. Audino started pummeling Audino, pushing it backward.
"W-what is going on?" Luke watched, shocked. "Audino aren't supposed to be that strong! Throh, use bind!" Throh grabbed Audino, squeezing it tight against itself. Audino struggled, crying out.
"Sweet kiss." Audino put Throh to sleep. Audino slipped free of Throh's limp grasp. "Double slap!" Audino started pummeling Throh again, knocking it out.
"You've got to be kidding me!" Luke hissed. "That Audino is too strong!" Bianca laughed.
"Audino and I have been training a lot," Bianca said. "You should try harder next time." Luke returned Throh.
"You trained your Audino to be a physical tank?" Luke held up Throh's pokeball. "That guy over there, he can heal your Audino. I'd like a rematch." The two of them headed over to Jerry. I headed over to the statues and pillars, better make sure Kenya isn't dead.
