CHAPTER 23
Twenty-four hours ago
Sabrina waved goodbye to Ayden and Jin and walked back into her gym. The moment she closed the door, her soft demeanor vanished. She knew something was off the moment she teleported back to the city, but didn't want to alarm anyone. She couldn't risk getting innocent people involved.
She closed her eyes and tried to sense her students, but none of them were there. They were all supposed to be watching the gym while she was away. She had a bad feeling about all this. Something was definitely wrong.
She slowly walked down the hallways, careful to make as little noise as possible. She didn't know who was there, but knew she had to be on her guard. Whoever they were, they were able to take down all her students; who all were high-level psychics.
As she crept through her gym, she kept trying to sense her students, but still couldn't find them. She peeked around a corner and found no one there. She opened up multiple doors, walked through every hallway, but there wasn't anyone there.
Sabrina lowered her shoulders and took a deep breath. This didn't make any sense. She left her students in charge of the gym while she was away. That much was certain. So, where were they? And why couldn't she sense them?
As she thought about it, a hand appeared out of the shadows and tapped her on the shoulder.
She quickly turned around and reached for a pokéball, but stopped when she realized it was one of her students. She wore a miko outfit and had long black hair tied in a ponytail.
Sabrina breathed a sigh of relief and straightened up. "It's only you, Amanda. I'm sorry about that, but there's something definitely wrong here. Tell me what's happened. Where is everyone? Why can't I sense them?"
Amanda smiled at Sabrina. "There's nothing wrong. Everything is fine. Everyone's here in the gym right now. We've been waiting for you to return."
Sabrina furrowed her brow. There definitely was something wrong here. How could she not have sensed her approach? She looked at Amanda and realized there was a collar around her neck.
Sabrina's eyes widened and she took a step backward. "Tell me what's going on, Amanda! Where did you get that collar?"
"You know, for Kanto's strongest psychic, you ask a lot of questions."
Sabrina quickly turned to see a large man approach her. He was shirtless, wearing his black jacket around his neck like a cape, and showed a muscular physique complete with a six-pack. He wore black pants and gloves, had short brown hair, and carried a flask in his hand. Around his waist, he had a belt for his pokéballs, but the other side carried three silver flasks that sloshed when he walked.
Sabrina clenched her fists. "Who are you and what are you doing here? Where are my students?"
The man took a swig from his flask and wiped his mouth with his arm. "Oh, yeah! That's the stuff! Oh, right. Yeah, my name is Mashira. I'm a captain in Team Chaos. I've come here cause there's something I need to get, and you're gonna help me get it with all your special psychic powers and all that."
Sabrina gritted her teeth. She'd heard about Team Chaos and how they operated. Just another group of lowlifes bent on trying to use whatever means necessary to get what they want. Now it seemed he'd gotten Amanda working for him.
She held her hand to him. "If you think I'll let you do whatever you please, you're sorely mistaken. You messed up when you entered my domain. I'll take great pleasure in turning you in to the proper authorities."
She focused her energy on him and launched her attack. Before the blast could reach him, one of Sabrina's students teleported between them and negated it. He was a slim-built teen with short blonde hair.
Her eyes widened with worry. Another of her students was working with him? Did he get everyone? She looked closer and saw he was wearing the same kind of collar Amanda was wearing.
She turned her attention to her Amanda. "What's going on? Why are you protecting this man? And what is with these collars?"
Mashira laughed and took a swig. "Looks like your students have decided to join my side instead of being with you. Also, those collars help your students fight on par with you. You've been deemed the strongest psychic in the entire Kanto region. However, how would you fare against all your students who have had their powers upped tenfold?"
Sabrina watched as all of her students came out of the shadows of the gym and surrounded her. Each one equipped with a collar.
This was bad. She could sense their powers and they were all stronger than her. She had to retreat and get some help.
She focused her energy and tried to teleport, but one of her students intercepted her and knocked her back.
She recovered and looked up to see her students advancing toward her. She furrowed her brow and knew they were set on fighting her. She had to try and reason with them.
She stood up and faced them. "My students! Please listen to me! This man is controlling you! You can't let him and his organization do as they please! You're much stronger than he is! I urge you to fight against his control!"
One of her students walked up to the front. "I'm afraid we cannot comply with your request. Captain Mashira is our master, and we will do as he orders. And now, he's ordered us to take you down."
They launched attacks at her, but she repelled their blasts. The collision shook the gym and caused Mashira to grin.
He nodded and clapped his hands. "Impressive. Repelling eight superpowered psychics at the same time. You really do have some serious power. How much longer can you keep it up though?"
Sabrina had never been pushed to the limit of her abilities. Whenever she tried to teleport, one of her students would match her speed and knock her back into the room. Fending off one student would cause another to counter, forcing her on the defensive.
Sabrina thought for a second and found a way around them. She teleported, causing another student to match her, but she canceled out and knocked him backward instead. When others gathered around, she dodged their attacks by teleporting short distances just as their blasts neared her. When all her students had to defend themselves from their own attacks, she used the opportunity to blow them all away.
With the path cleared, Sabrina made her way toward Mashira. She readied her attack, but was knocked away by a powerful psychic blast. The force knocked the air out of her. She'd never felt anything like it. It was even stronger than when she fought Black Fog. She collided with a nearby wall and fell to the floor.
She looked up and saw Amanda had launched the attack. "Amanda! What are you doing? Why are you helping this man?"
Amanda smiled. "I'm simply following Captain Mashira's orders."
Soon all her students launched attacks on her. The force of the attacks dented the walls and broke up the flooring. The attacks hit her to the point she coughed up blood.
When they finished their assault, Sabrina strained and staggered to her knees.
She gritted her teeth and turned toward Mashira. "What did you do to all my students?"
Mashira shrugged. "Nothing much. Just gave her a little attitude adjustment. You wouldn't believe how easy it was to take over your gym. With you gone doing whatever it was you were doing; my team and I were able to storm your gym and defeat every single one of your students. How, you ask? With a team of dark-type pokémon. The easiest way to defeat a group of psychic trainers. And when they tried using their powers against us, we simply had our dark-type pokémon block for us. We captured all your students and implanted our mind control devices on them."
Sabrina spat out blood and reached for a pokéball. "You bastard! You're going to pay for what you've done to them. "Go, Kada-,"
Before she could call Kadabra out, she froze and was forced off the ground by Amanda. Unable to control her grip, she watched as Kadabra's pokéball fell to the floor. One of her students picked it up and encased it in a metal cube.
She struggled against Amanda's powers. "A… man…da. Please… stop."
Amanda clenched her fists, tightening her hold on Sabrina. She watched with glee as Sabrina screamed.
Mashira chugged his flask, wiped his mouth, examined the inside, and threw it away. "Don't bother. With the device I gave her, the only voice she'll listen to is mine. And soon, you'll be listening to me too."
Sabrina's eyes widened in horror as Mashira laughed maniacally.
Amanda hurled Sabrina across the room until she slammed into a wall. The impact dazed her, and she looked up weakly to see all her students approach her before passing out.
Sabrina woke up groggily. She looked around and saw nothing but steel walls around her. She tried to move, but quickly found she couldn't. Her wrists and legs were bound, and a collar was attached to her neck.
The sound of a door opening drew her attention, and she saw Mashira walking toward her.
He pulled a flask from his belt, took a swig, and wiped his mouth. "Up already? Wow, you really do live up to the hype. And don't bother trying to attack. The cuffs are preventing you from drawing out your power."
Sabrina furrowed her brow. "Where am I?"
Mashira scratched his head. "I had one of your students teleport us back to my base in the Hoenn region."
Sabrina's eyes widened. The Hoenn region? That's impossible. No one could teleport that far a distance, not even her. It must've been the devices he gave them.
She looked back up at him. "What do you plan on doing? What's your goal in all this?"
Mashira held up a finger while taking several gulps from his flask. When he finished, he burped and wiped his mouth. "That's a good question. Our main goal is to take control of the Silph Company building and procure all the resources they have. There are rumors Silph is developing the ultimate pokéball, one with the power to capture any pokémon without fail. Such a thing is too good to be true, right? Well, it is true, and we know what they're using to create it with… a fragment of the Red Chain."
Sabrina furrowed her brow in confusion. "Red Chain? What is that?"
Mashira laughed and took a swig. "Oh, don't worry your pretty little head about it. It's nothing for you to know about. All you need to know is that you and all your little psychic friends are going to help steal it."
Sabrina gritted her teeth. She'd managed to master her emotions throughout the years, but now she'd found she could barely control herself. "Yeah, keep thinking that. There's no way in hell I'd ever help you or your organization. I'll get free from here, and then I'll rescue my students. I am the Saffron City gym leader. I refuse to let you do as you please."
Mashira whistled and applauded. "Nice speech. Very inspirational. However, I'm afraid you have no choice in the matter."
He snapped his fingers and Amanda walked into the room. In her hands, she held a device that looked like a pair of visor goggles.
Mashira turned to her. "Do it."
Amanda nodded. "Yes, Captain Mashira."
Sabrina's eyes widened in horror as Amanda approached her. How many times was this man going to use her student against her? "Amanda! Come on! You have to fight back! He's controlling you! You have to fight him! Amanda!"
Amanda, ignoring her words, walked up to her and applied the visor to her head. Sabrina tried to shake it off, but Amanda secured it over her eyes.
Sabrina lifted her head. "What do you plan on doing with this?"
Mashira took a swig from his flask. "That's right. I completely forgot. With your powers blocked, you can't see into the future and tell for yourself, huh? Well, this little device is going to send electric pulses through your head, effectively wiping out your memory. Once that's done, I'll implant the mind control chip on you and turn you into my own personal servant. You, and the rest of your students, are going to do whatever I say and be my army."
Sabrina froze. Mind control? Just like what she and Ayden's group faced at Pokémon Tower. If she only had her powers, the visor wouldn't have any effect on her. Now that they were blocked, she wouldn't be able to fight back.
Sabrina shook as the realization hit her. For the first time in her life, she felt scared. She had no idea what was going to happen or even how to stop it.
Mashira pulled a remote out of his pocket. He pressed a button and the visor activated.
Sabrina squirmed trying to get it off her head, but it remained in place. She screamed as electricity surged through the visor into her skull.
Mashira laughed. "Don't worry. It won't kill you. The electricity will surge through you, wiping out all of your memories; until you're nothing left but a hollow doll. This process takes a while, so I'll be taking my leave. See you in a few hours, Miss Sabrina."
With that, he and Amanda left the room, leaving Sabrina writhing on the floor.
A few hours had gone by since Mashira activated the visor. He came down to the room Sabrina was being held in. As he approached, he could hear her gasping heavily as she lay on the floor.
He looked down on her and wondered if the visor had finished taking her over. "Just look at you. Saffron's highly dignified gym leader reduced to a drooling mess. What's your name?"
Sabrina slowed her breathing and turned her head toward the sound of his voice. "I… am… Sabrina… gym leader… of Saffron City."
Mashira clicked his tongue. "You're a lot tougher than I gave you credit for, Miss Sabrina. As much as I'd like to watch you struggle in your futile fight, I've really got a list of other things I need to do."
He pulled out the remote and upped the intensity of the visor.
Sabrina screamed and fell to her side. She could no longer hold what little sanity she had left. The electricity was too much and she spasmed uncontrollably. Her eyes had rolled to the back of her head and her tongue hung out the side of her mouth.
Mashira crouched beside her. "So, I'll ask again. What's your name?"
Sabrina answered, but her words were indiscernible.
He could tell she was trying to repeat something. After listening a few times, he could make out "will", "end", and "you".
He smiled. "You know, I've gotta hand it to ya, Miss Sabrina. You aren't the gym leader for nothing. Now I'm really curious to see how much longer you can keep that fighting spirit of yours up."
Before he could say anything else, her head fell to the side and she passed out.
He shook his head, turned the visor back to normal, and made his way toward the door. "I'll see you in another couple of hours, Miss Sabrina. I'm sure by that time, you'll be more than ready."
Night soon fell and Mashira made his way to Sabrina's cell with Amanda walking behind him.
Mashira took a swig from his flask. "She should be ready by now."
Amanda nodded. "Yes, sir. No one, not even Sabrina herself, can withstand this treatment for this long. I'm certain she has succumbed to the visor."
Mashira breathed a heavy sigh. "She'd better. I don't have much time to deal with her like this. My plans have to be implemented soon, and she is a key component for that."
They reached her cell and found Sabrina lying on the floor gasping heavily.
Mashira turned the visor off and walked over to her. He knelt down, took the visor off her, and stared at her tired face. "What's your name?"
Sabrina continued to gasp for air. "I… I… I…,"
Mashira smiled. Finally, her mind had been completely wiped.
He stood up and turned to Amanda. "Get the others ready. It's time to prepare the next phase of the-,"
He stopped when he heard Sabrina again. He turned to her as she continued to form words.
"I… am… Sa… bri… na… Saff… ron… gym… lea… der." She then turned her head so that her eyes met his. "I… will… end… you."
Mashira's eyes widened. This was impossible. She'd had the visor on for at least ten hours already. Some of the time on its maximum output. Normally, anyone would've had their mind wiped after the first hour, two tops. Just how strong was she?
Mashira clenched his fists. "That does it. Bring her to the lab. It's time we ended this."
Amanda turned to him. "What do you plan on doing, sir?"
Mashira opened the door to the cell. "Something I should've done a while ago."
He quickly made his way to a lab on the other side of the base. Inside was an operation table and several high-tech equipment.
Several doctors and grunts turned toward him as he entered the room and immediately popped to attention and saluted.
Soon, Amanda teleported into the room with Sabrina, and a couple of the grunts helped her onto the operating table and strapped her in.
One of the doctors walked up to Mashira. He had circular glasses and black hair. He along with all the other doctors wore lab coats. "Captain Mashira. What can we do for you today, sir?"
Mashira turned to him and the doctor flinched. Mashira looked as though he'd knock him across the room if he said something wrong.
Mashira gazed around the room of scared doctors and grunts. "Is the drug ready?"
The doctor adjusted his glasses. "Drug? You mean-,"
Mashira nodded and pointed toward Sabrina. "Yeah. I'm gonna need to use it on her."
The doctor fumbled with his words before finally speaking in a complete sentence. "Wait, sir, that drug hasn't been fully tested yet. There are so many things that can still go wrong with using it. Worst-case scenario… she could die, sir."
Mashira picked him up by the collar of his coat and lifted him off the ground. "Does it look like I give a damn? I want that drug ready for use in the next five minutes. Do I make myself clear?"
He dropped the doctor and he watched as he quickly got back up.
He dusted off his coat nodded. "Yes, sir! Perfectly clear, sir!"
The other doctors and grunts gave a salute as he walked out the door with Amanda right behind him.
She caught up to him and cleared her throat. "Sir, what exactly is this drug supposed to do? Why did they feel it is dangerous?"
Mashira continued walking. "This drug we're developing is the next step in brainwashing. A potent drug that immediately attacks all the parts of the brain that control memory; the amygdala, the hippocampus, the cerebellum, and the prefrontal cortex. Once it has entered the target, it travels through the body and attacks each of these areas, effectively wiping them out. Once that's accomplished, we proceed in integrating them into Team Chaos. We can have the entire world under our control once this drug is up and running. For now, we'll test it on little Miss Sabrina. Let's see how her mind can keep it together once the drug has been injected."
Amanda sighed. "And are you absolutely sure this drug is a necessary step to take? What if the worst-case scenario does happen? What will you do then, sir?"
Mashira stopped walking and turned to her. "If that happens, then at least she won't be able to interfere with my plans. Even with you and all her students under my control, she'd still pose a potential threat to my operation. She's that powerful. I'll see to it that she either works for me, or dies. Now, go and get everyone else situated. The drug should be ready soon. I want everything ready to go."
Amanda bowed. "As you command, sir."
With that, she teleported, leaving Mashira alone in the hallway.
He clenched his fists as he thought back to Sabrina and how she glared at him when they were inside her cell. That look she gave reminded him of the one person who had ever beaten him. That look made his blood boil.
He clenched his teeth and slammed his fists into the wall. "I will never let anyone look at me that way again. I will make anyone who opposes me fall into the darkest depths of despair."
Inside the lab, the doctors and grunts began the prep work for their new drug. Many were skeptical about it, believing it needed more time for testing. But others kept reminding them that this was an order from the captain.
As fast as they worked, it took them a couple of hours to get the drug ready for injection.
While they worked, Sabrina had been focusing on regaining her strength. However, with the cuffs on her, she still couldn't use her powers. All she could do was watch as the drug was prepared.
One of the doctors held the drug up with a smile on his face. "And here it is. It's ready for injection."
One of the grunts placed their hand on his shoulder. "And we won't receive any repercussions from this if she dies, right?"
The doctor laughed. "It was a direct order from the captain, and we even told him the drug wasn't completely ready yet. He knows the risks. And even if she does die, it's just one less thing for Captain Mashira to worry about."
He walked over and readied Sabrina's arm.
Sabrina tried to resist, but the straps and her weakened state only made her efforts moot.
The doctor chuckled as he finished applying the syringe into her vein. "Please don't even try. You won't be able to break out of those straps in the condition you're in. Just relax, and let the drug do its thing."
He injected the drug into her, and her eyes immediately widened. She could feel it worm its way through her body, making its way to her brain. The sensation she felt made her think of ants crawling around inside her. Her breathing hastened as she wondered what would happen next.
Soon, she was hit with an incredible shock of pain. She twisted, writhed, and screamed as the drug had finally reached its target.
All her memories faded away one after the other. She soon couldn't remember anyone from her gym, her time fighting alongside Ayden against Black Fog, or even her parents.
Tears fell down her cheek as her memories disappeared. "Please… no! No, stop! Please! No!"
The doctors and grunts watched in awe as Sabrina succumbed to the drug's effects. Soon, she plopped on the table, slowly breathing heavily.
One of the doctors walked up to her. "Hello? You okay?"
Sabrina groggily stirred and opened her eyes. She looked around until she saw the doctor talking to her. "Where… am I?"
Her eyes shot wide open and she struggled against her bonds. "Who are you? What are you doing to me? Why am I strapped to this table?"
The doctor knelt down and placed his hand on her shoulder. "Please, take it easy and relax. You're back home at headquarters in Hoenn. Everything's okay. Do you remember who you are?"
Sabrina looked at him. Back home? Hoenn? What was he talking about? Why couldn't she remember anything?
She lightly shook her head. "No, I don't remember anything. My head feels terrible. What have I been doing? How did I end up like this?"
After they unstrapped her from the table, the doctor eased her up. "I believe our captain will have the answers to all of your questions. For now, just take it easy."
Sabrina lay back down on the table and took in calm breaths. She had so many questions and wasn't even sure if she could trust these people. At the moment, she didn't have much choice.
Mashira sat at his desk in his office, going over various documents. He turned his attention to his phone as it rang.
He took a swig from his flask and then answered. "Captain Mashira… huh? The drug worked? She has absolutely no idea who she is, huh? That's good. That's very good. All right. I'll be there shortly. Keep her calm and treat her with care. Wouldn't want our newest recruit to be damaged."
He hung up and smiled.
Sabrina waited while the doctors ran tests on her. She could at least breathe easier knowing everything checked out. The only problem remaining was not having any memories.
She looked up and saw the other members stand at attention and salute as Mashira walked into the room.
One of the doctors gave him a rundown of her tests, and he gave a nod after taking the papers.
After scanning over them, he turned to the doctor. "Thanks. Leave us alone for a bit."
The doctor saluted. "Yes, sir!"
With that, he, along with the other members, left the room.
Sabrina turned to Mashira as he pulled up a chair. "You must be Captain Mashira, correct?"
Mashira nodded. "Yeah, that's right. How're ya feeling?"
Sabrina shook her head. "According to the doctors, I'm doing well. I just can't remember who I am or even how I got here."
Mashira shook his head. "Yeah, I'd figure that'd be the case. You were pretty banged up when we recovered you. I blame myself for what happened."
Sabrina furrowed her brow. "Please, tell me what happened. Who am I?"
Mashira sighed and looked her in the eyes. "Your name is Sabrina… a member of Team Chaos. We sent you on a mission to gather intel on the Silph Company in Kanto. However, you were discovered and captured. By the time we'd found you, you had already been tortured and they even wiped your memory."
Sabrina's eyes widened with shock. She held her head and tried to think back to what had happened.
Mashira took a deep breath. "We almost couldn't believe they had overpowered you like they did. You are my second-in-command after all. Not to mention the most powerful psychic in the entire region."
Sabrina looked at him. "Second-in-command? Powerful psychic?"
She looked at her hands as that thought ran through her mind. She did find it weird how she despite not being able to remember anything, she had no problem remembering how to use her powers.
Mashira nodded. "Yes. I am in charge of this base. The only other person here people take orders from is you. You're my strongest subordinate and a master at using psychic-type pokémon. Your power and your skills have completed countless missions over the years. When I heard what had happened to you, I could barely take it. Now that I know you're alive and well, I want nothing more than to get back at those bastards who did this to you. You get some rest; I'll end this quickly."
Before he got up, Sabrina placed her hand on his. "Wait. Let me go on this mission with you."
Mashira grinned. "I'm glad you're still the same capable captain you've always been. But you've just recovered. You've been bedridden for almost two weeks. I couldn't ask you to go on this mission."
Sabrina shook her head. "I want to go. I need to get those people back for what they did to me. I want to make them pay. Whatever you need, just say the word and consider it done."
Mashira smiled. "And that's why you're my second-in-command. There's going to be a briefing on the mission in an hour. Get washed up, changed into your uniform, and I'll have someone escort you to the conference room."
Sabrina nodded. "Yes, sir."
Mashira walked out of the room and closed the door behind him. He was met with a female grunt who saluted.
Mashira waved her down. "Make sure you attend to her every need. I've got her thinking she's a captain around here. Be sure to treat her as such."
The grunt saluted again and went into the room.
Mashira smiled. "This is turning out even better than I'd hoped."
An hour later, Sabrina walked into the conference room where Mashira and several other members had gathered. She was clad in a black leather miniskirt, boots, and a shoulderless black shirt with the silver 'C' that showed off her midriff.
Mashira watched as she walked up to him. "Welcome back, second-in-command."
Sabrina smiled. "It's good to be back, Captain."
They all sat down and Mashira began the briefing. "All right. Before we get started with the briefing, I'd like to take this moment to welcome back our faithful teammate, Captain Sabrina."
The room applauded as she waved to them.
Mashira nodded. "As we all know, the Silph Company is responsible for what happened to one of our own. We're fortunate enough to have been able to rescue our comrade and get her back up to speed in such a short amount of time. That just proves how tough a fighter she is!"
The room applauded again.
Mashira turned to Sabrina. "Captain Sabrina, before you were caught, you managed to secure vital intel on the Silph Company. We were able to learn their interior layout, schedules, and the combinations to their safes. You've done us proud, captain."
Sabrina bowed. "Thank you, sir."
Mashira nodded and addressed the room. "Now, we are in the perfect position to strike! Our goal is to obtain the Red Chain fragment they're safeguarding! This fragment is the key to nearly unlimited power! Securing it is priority one!"
Sabrina raised her hand.
Mashira pointed to her. "Yes, captain."
Sabrina stood up. "Sir, why are we trying to secure this fragment? What will it enable us to do?"
Mashira smiled. "An excellent question. Our job is to locate all the fragments of the Red Chain. Once we've accomplished that, we'll be able to bring them all together to restore the legendary Red Chain in all its power. With it complete, we'll be able to extract the power from the Carrier."
Sabrina furrowed her eyebrows. "Carrier?"
Mashira nodded. "I'm sure you have a lot of questions about all this, and don't worry, I'll be glad to sit down with you and get you back up to speed. However, for now, our main mission is just the fragment. We need to secure it and send it back to headquarters for Lord Schröder, the leader of Team Chaos."
Sabrina nodded. "Yes, understood, sir."
After going over the operation procedures, Mashira looked up at the other members in the room. "All right. That should be everything. Does anyone have any questions?" When no one answered, he gave a nod. "Good. Now, I want everyone to get a few hours sleep. It's 0443 now. We'll be heading out to implement our plan at 0900 today."
Everyone in the room stood up and saluted. "Sir, yes, sir!"
One of the grunts escorted Sabrina to her room, saluted, and left. Sabrina walked in and liked what she saw. It was a simple room, but it was well kept.
As she readied herself for bed, a knock at her door drew her attention.
She cleared her throat. "Yes? It's open!"
The door opened and another grunt walked into the room, gave a salute, and stood at attention. "Ma'am! I've come here to present you with your pokémon partner!"
She presented Sabrina with the metal cube and opened it to reveal a pokéball. "We've healed your pokémon of all its injuries. Also, we have these for you." She revealed a set of silver bracelets. "These bracelets will amplify your power. Not that I believe you'll need it, but we thought more power would be nice for you to have. We hope you have a good night, ma'am!"
Sabrina nodded as she took the pokéball and the bracelets. "Thank you. Have a good night as well."
The grunt saluted, gave an about face, and left the room.
Sabrina looked at the pokéball. She couldn't remember what pokémon she used to have. She opened the ball and in a white light, Alakazam emerged.
Sabrina smiled. An Alakazam? That was her pokémon? She couldn't remember ever having one, but for some reason, this particular Alakazam felt familiar.
She went up to him and gave him a hug. "Alakazam! I'm so happy you're okay! Let's go and take revenge on what those people at Silph did to us."
Alakazam nodded and Sabrina smiled. Suddenly, a sharp jolt struck her head. She closed her eyes and saw a vision of herself talking with a boy with silver hair who had a Pikachu on his shoulders. She then saw them battling alongside each other. The visions ended and Sabrina stared at the floor.
What was that? Who was she talking to? And why did it seem like she'd met him before?
Mashira walked out of the conference room and met Amanda.
He closed the door and walked down the hallway with her close by. "Did you complete your assignment?"
Amanda nodded. "Yes, sir. We've attached our device to Kadabra and then evolved it just like you commanded."
Mashira nodded. "Good. That's one thing less to worry about. I don't need that pokémon turning on us and restoring her memories."
The morning came and Sabrina and her platoon had gathered in front of the base. Her platoon consisted of several Chaos grunts and all of her students from the gym, including Amanda who stood beside Sabrina.
Sabrina turned to her platoon. "Soldiers! Today, we have been given a mission to retrieve the Red Chain fragment from the Silph Company in Kanto. My last mission against them ended in failure, but today is a new day. Today is the day for vengeance! Today is the day for victory! We shall storm the Silph building and strike fear into their hearts! We shall make them rue the day they ever decided to mess with Team Chaos!"
Her platoon popped to attention and saluted. "Yes, ma'am!"
Sabrina nodded. "Now! Let's get ready for sortie!"
With that, a few of the platoon teleported from the base to outside the Silph Company building, while the others teleported to several different floors.
Once inside, Sabrina spoke into an earpiece. "Squad B, don't let anyone near the building. Squads C through F, secure your respective floors. Squad A, move out!"
They teleported to the top floor of the building where they were met with a couple of security guards.
Before they could even react, one of Sabrina's students subdued them to the floor with her powers.
While pinned down, a couple of grunts tied them up.
Sabrina walked up to the door the guards were positioned at. "So, this is the room, huh?"
One of the grunts nodded. "Yes, ma'am. This is the office of the Silph Company's president."
Sabrina clenched her fists. This was it. This was the moment for her revenge. She could barely hold herself back.
She raised her hand to the door. Her powers condensed into a sphere around her hand. "Okay, Squad A, get ready."
The Silph Company president, Shirufu, sat at his desk talking over the phone and going over several documents. He was a short bald man with bushy eyebrows that matched his mustache and wore a black business suit.
Shirufu nodded as the conversation came to a close. "Yes, yes, thank you. I look forward to it as well. This will be quite the accomplishment. I do believe we'll be able to better the lives of pokémon trainers worldwide with this. Yes, thank you and have a good day."
He hung up the phone and stacked up some of the documents.
Just as he laid them back down on his desk, the door to his office blew open, damaging the entire room and blowing out the large window behind him.
Shirufu hobbled around the floor littered with broken wood from his desk and doors. He coughed as the smoke exited through the destroyed window.
He looked up at the faces of several Team Chaos members. "What is the meaning of this? Who are you people?"
The group moved aside and stood at attention as Sabrina made her way into the room.
Shifuru's eyes widened. "Wait. It can't be. You're Sabrina! What're you doing here like this?"
Sabrina raised her hand, and lifted the president with her powers. "We're Team Chaos. Now, hand over the Red Chain fragment."
Shirufu struggled against her hold. "Red… Chain… Fragment? What… are… you… talking… about?"
Sabrina tightened her hold of him. "You know very well what I'm talking about, old man! Where is the fragment?"
When he didn't answer, she tossed him into the arms of her squad. They held him down as she walked over to him.
She knelt down so she could look at him closer. "This building and everything in it now belong to Team Chaos."
Shirufu gasped. "W-What did you do? What have you done to everyone?"
Sabrina grinned. "Let's just say they won't be leaving this building any time soon. Now, if you'd be so kind, President Shirufu, we'd like for you to come with us. You're going to be our special guest for quite a while."
AUTHOR'S NOTES:
The scene where Mashira is trying to wipe out her memory using electricity, I drew inspiration for that from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where Hydra was using a machine to wipe out Bucky's memories.
