Authors note: Welcome to the next chapter of the Draugr. In the last chapter Hans and Kristoff were ready to tear each other apart.. But what will happen? Will somebody intervene? We shall see...
Anyway, enough of me blabbering, please continue to read on to your hearts content and please leave a review when done as your opinions matter.
~Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. For if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you~
A moment passed before Hans and Kristoff stared at one another. They needed no excuse as the truth was that they were already ready to kill each other, though for different reasons. Hans wanted revenge on Kristoff for what he did and Kristoff wanted to live, so there was no hesitation on what they were about to do.
Loud clanks made Hans and Kristoff jump in surprise as the puppet of King Stephen threw swords at the ground.
The swords clattered as they made contact with the ground and lay there still, waiting to be picked up and used.
It took only a second before Hans and Kristoff lunged for the swords. As they did Kristoff kicked the back of Hans left leg causing him to fall.
Landing with a loud thud Hans growled. In a haze of anger and adrenaline he got up and ran, jumping on Kristoff back and using his full weight to knock him down.
Kristoff yelled as he fell to the ground, once on the ground Hans wrapped his arms around Kristoff neck, tightening his grip.
"Get off of me you demon" yelled Kristoff as he struggled against Hans. To which Hans laughed at that before saying "There goes the pot calling the kettle black, I am the kettle mind you".
To this Kristoff reached around before managing to grab the sword and striking Hans on his temple with the blunt part of the handle. This shocked Hans into letting go which after he did Kristoff scrambled to his feet, pointing the sword at Hans.
"Look, I am sorry this happened... I bet you were a good person... but desperate times call for desperate measures" said Kristoff in a scared and shaky voice.
Hans just glared at him, not saying a word as he got up, as soon as he did Kristoff lunged over, Hans dodged by throwing himself to the side, grabbing the sword he got up and pointed it at Kristoff.
It came to this it seems, to Hans he was not sorry about it, in all honesty he was ready to beat Kristoff into a pulp for what he did.
A loud slap echoed through the room, Elsas head was thrown to the side as she fell to the ground. Groaning she placed her hand on her now stinging and swollen cheek as she looked teary eye to Anna who stood there, glaring at her with such fury she had never seen before.
Laying on the ground Elsa realized how cold it was, this made her realize her magic was gone...
After a while Anna growled "This is all your fault! Because its always been about you! What you want! What you need!",
"Anna... please... I love-" began Elsa but Anna interrupted "SHUT UP AND LET ME TALK!"
It was so sharp and commanding that Elsa shut up with a soft whimpered before Anna continued
"Don't you dare say that! You do not love me Elsa! If you loved me you would listen to me! Care about what I think! My feelings! You would respect me! But you do not! You do what you want! Don't care what I think, feel or want! Did you ever think of telling me the truth when you knew how I was feeling?! I felt like garbage! Like I was not worth anything to you! Did you attend our parents funeral!? No! I had to burry them alone! After they died because they put you first over me! And when you made me queen? Did you think about what I wanted? No! It was what you wanted! So you forced that on me! What about all the promises you made to me?! The same ones you always broke!",
"But-",
"You will shut up and listen for once! I am not done!" yelled Anna interrupting again.
Once again Elsa shut up, taking a breath Anna growled "You are selfish Elsa! You do not love anybody but yourself! You don't even care about others as long as you get what you want! Its always boo hoo poor me when it comes to you!"
As Anna said that Elsa's body began to shake as she tried not to cry as she heard that from her sister. It broke her heart to hear such anger even hate from Anna.
Over and over she asked herself why? Why would Anna say this?! She is understanding! She loves her! She is forgiving! She is...
The train of though left Elsa as she realized, Anna was only human, a person, like any person she had her breaking points.
As she listen to Anna her eyes teared up as she realized that this was the first time Anna had ever been allowed to speak her feelings, this was the first time Elsa had listened to what Anna felt and say, this was the first time Anna was allowed to show her anger, her feelings.
How many times did Anna held back her feelings? What she wanted? Her anger? How many times she pushed aside her needs, feelings and wants for her?
Tears fell from Elsas eyes as she finally understood...
She had not only gone too far... she had pushed those she loved and wanted to protect pass their breaking point...
"I am sorry" whispered Elsa barely able to breath now from her sorrow,
"You have said that too much..." hissed Anna as she turned her back towards Elsa "If you are sorry then you will start showing it through actions"
There was silence before Anna said "We will work together to stop this madness, after that we will have a serious talk about where we stand and if I will even want to continue a relationship with you sister" as she turned back and offered a hand to Elsa.
Looking at it Elsa took it and Anna helped her up before they left the room together. They knew there was going to be a time where they would have to sit down and talk, but right now that was not the time...
This was not about them anymore, it was not even about Hans or Kristoff or the curse. Lives were in danger and they needed to set this on the back-burner till they can figure a way to stop the evil that has been unleashed.
A loud clanks were heard as Hans and Kristoff fought with the swords. Pushing against Kristoff Hans growled as he continued to push and push before finally slamming Kristoff against the wall.
Kristoff grunted as Hans continued to press against him, his muscles ached and screamed in pain as he struggled to hold Hans back, but it was too much.
There was a loud wack as Hans head butted Kristoff so hard he swore he heard his skull cracking under the force of impact.
Kristoff dropped to the ground, holding his head as he cried out in pain.
Getting on top of him Hans grabbed him by his neck and held up his fist, ready to smash his face in and finish Kristoff off.
Looking up at Hans black eyes Kristoff began to fear, this was surely his end. He did not want to die!
"Please... mercy" whimpered Kristoff in pain, this made Hans tightened his grip around Kristoff causing him to wheeze as he whispered "why would I give you a courtesy you did not give me?" as he was ready to throw his fist down on Kristoff when a glint caught Hans eye, he looked to make sure it was not somebody or something coming to intervene, but he found it was nothing or nobody... it was just a mirror on the ground and his reflection.
As he stared at it he felt his hand shake, this was the first time he had seen himself in who knows how long and it was truly an awful sight.
He looked like a monster as the frost and ice had long since melted away to reveal rotting flesh, body and face. There was nothing on him that showed he had once been human, that he had once been alive.
Slowly letting go of Kristoff Hans let him fall and backed away from him as he realized the truth...
"This is a trap" whispered Hans while Kristoff looked up at him with his good eye as the other one was swollen shut.
Turning Hans faced the puppet of Stephen "You wanted us to kill one another right? Because it did not matter who lived because the one who did would be branded a monster, am I right?"
The puppet remains still, but Hans noticed a slight tension on the strings causing him to smile as he realized he figure out the game this... thing... was playing. Well not all the game, but at least part of it.
"This is nothing but a game to you is it? A mind game you play following some sort of sick plan or fantasy you have crafted" continued Hans as he got closer, his tone getting angrier and angrier as he pointed his finger at the puppet "I know the truth and I am not playing your sick and twisted game! Whatever you want to achieve you will not get it from me!"
He stood there, waiting, the puppet said nothing, it did not move or anything.
As Hans waited for an answer he heard a click, turning around he would have gasp if he could when he saw Kristoff got up, grab the sword and was ready to swing it and chop off his head when "Wack!"
Kristoffs eyes rolled to the back of his head as he fell limp to his side unconscious to reveal a figure behind him.
Holding an iron skillet the Gjengengar smirked and said "You have no idea how many times I dreamed about doing that".
Hans stared in shock as Elsa and Anna burst into the room.
Upon looking at Hans Elsa had to held back at gasp as she looked at his decomposing form. Seems that once her powers were taken away everything she had made with them was also gone.
"I look hideous" said Hans with a sad sight interrupting Elsas worries and thoughts,
"What? Nooo..." lied Anna as she took held back her need to puke at the very sight of his from,
"Its fine... I know I look bad, but at least I am not a monster" said Hans as he gestured to an unconscious but alive Kristoff.
Seeing him alive both Elsa and Anna sighted in relief, sure Kristoff had become the person they hated the most right now, but they did not hate him enough to wish his death, though they were surprised that Hans did not kill him as they were sure he would.
"I am surprised you did not kill him" Anna blurted out by accident before covering her mouth when she realized what she said and added "Sorry, wrong thing to say",
"I wanted to, but I did not... he on the other hand would have chopped off my head if it was not for her" said Hans gesturing to the Gjengengar.
Looking at the Gjengengar Elsa asked shocked "Gjengengar?", the Gjengengar just pointed the skillet at her and warned "This changes nothing Queen Elsa, I just won't let others pay for your mistake" then held out the skillet "You will need this",
Nodding Elsa reached to take the skillet only for Anna to snatch it first while the Gjengengar took and carried Kristoff in her arms. Looking over the Gjengengar chuckled and said "You know, if I did not know this was a man and one of the people I hated... I would have said how this somewhat reminded me of my daughter when she was little... how I would hold her close as I carried her off to sleep after singing a lullaby" there was silence as the Gjengengar shook her head "I will never get the chance..." turning to look at Elsa and Anna she added "She wanted to be a bride you know, my daughter, we would always play pretend, she made her "prince" out of old brooms and put a bucket as a head, "prince buckethead" she would call him, I would get her all dressed up in my old wedding gown, I gave her my special comb for her hair... walk down the isle then I would help carry her and her prince off to her happily every after..." she shook as she tried not to cry as the memory entered her mind.
Looking at her Elsa and Anna felt tears well up on their eyes, Anna because it was sad to hear, even Hans would have been crying if he could and Elsa because she remembered what the truth mirror had shown her. Walking over Elsa whispered "I am sorry... I understand".
Tensing up the Gjengengar turned and looked at Elsa before saying "I would say no, that you do not understand... but.." she paused and said "I think you do understand, not entirely, but you do have some understanding of what I feel for the truth mirror has shown you".
Before another would could be exchanged a loud angry roar filled the area, the palace began to shake even more violently than before.
"We need to go!" shouted Anna,
"What about Njord?!" asked Hans as he was not going to leave without the black cat,
"Don't worry, we shall-" Elsas words were interrupted as Anna screamed, dark misty chains appeared from above, wrapped around her and began to drag her upwards into the darkness.
Reacting Hans jumped and grabbed her, proceeded to pull and break the chains till they let Anna go, but as soon as they did they wrapped around Hans and proceeded to take him to the darkness as Anna fell to the ground.
"Hans!" yelled Anna as she got up and she and Elsa began to try to grab him but were unable to.
"Run!" yelled Hans as he was dragged into the darkness, never to be seen.
Backing away the three turned and left running for that was all they could do.
As they made their way out of the palace they notice how dark everything had gotten.
Bursting through the doors they came upon a scene of pure mayhem as people were outside, screaming and running out of their homes and on the streets in pure fear.
Looking behind Anna and Elsa gasped in horror as they saw the darkness coming down.
Now this was no ordinary darkness, it was thick, black, almost like a blanket as it covered everything from the sky to the ground, not letting anything be seen, not even the light could penetrate it, it was pure darkness.
A dark chuckle was heard, looking back at the entrance of the castle a dark figure stood there and it was not human.
It was tall, twisted, like the body of a person who was forced to grow three times its size all of a sudden, its skin was ashen gray, on its back bones stuck out and had skin stretched and spread through it making some kind of wings. Its black eyes stared at amusement at Elsa then at Anna before reaching behind him, taking something and holding it out for then to see.
It was Hans!
"Hans!" yelled Elsa as she took a step forward but fear kept her from running over to him as this... thing... had him in its clutches.
She was not alone as even Hans looked terrified as he was wrapped and bound in black misty chains, but he did his best not to show fear in the face of what could very well be described as pure evil.
Without a word the thing dangled Hans in front of Elsa and Anna. Showing off what it took from them then pulling Hans behind it and out of Elsa and Annas sight.
It was a dare, it was silently telling them "If you want him back so badly, come and get him, I dare you!" before backing away into the darkness till neither it or Hans could be seen.
Then it was like time resumed again, screams filled the air as the darkness came down faster than before.
Turning around Elsa and Anna ran along with the rest, but not before Elsa shouted "DON'T WORRY! I WILL SAVE YOU!" as loud as she could as she hoped Hans would hear and not give up.
How will she save him she did not know... but she will find a way... no matter what it took...
To be continued...
Finally! Anna said her piece! I was never a fan of Anna, but to be honest I always felt somewhat bad for her, especially after the second movie. Its like her feelings are never validated, she is never allowed to fully speak her mind and what she feels and wants and its pretty sad as it does feels like Elsa takes advantage of her a lot (To be honest the second movie made Elsa look extremely selfish).
Authors note: Oh no! Hans has been captured! But don't worry! Elsa and Anna will save him... hopefully... and what was that creature? Thing? What does it want? We shall see for I cannot say..
Any way hope you all enjoy this chapter, please review to let me know what you all think, but for now I bid you adue and will update the story as soon as possible. Take care.
