Author's Note: A slightly interesting take on Beast Boy's more aggressive side. I hope you guys like it!

Chapter 5:

Taking a deep breath and centering herself once more, Raven walked to the second door and opened it, quickly rushing inside.

She was immediately assaulted with horrifying screams. After her initial shock, she took stock of her surroundings. She was in some sort of scientific facility. The walls looked almost as cold and metallic as the part of Beast Boy's mind where they resided. She could see various windows peering into rooms on either side of her. In almost every single one of the rooms was an animal. She took a closer look and realized that all these animals had been deformed in some way, no doubt by the scientists that ran the place. She was shaken from her thoughts as another earsplitting scream could be heard, echoing through the halls. Picking up the pace, her mind showed her horrific images she didn't want to see. After three screams and what seemed like ages, the hallway gave way to a large room.

In the room was a single operating table. On that table, strapped down, lay a slightly older Beast Boy. He must have been around 8 years old. Huddled around him were five scientists. Two were checking his vitals meanwhile the other three were conducting some sort of experiment. One of the three grabbed a metal rod from an operating cart next to the table and pressed a button on it. The tip immediately light up with electricity and he viciously shoved the rod into young Beast Boy's side. The resulting scream nearly broke Raven. She struggled to get a grip on her emotions and the ones she felt from Beast Boy. Raven knew couldn't help him if she couldn't focus. After the scientist was done with shocking him, he simply looked to the other scientist who shook his head, in return. The scientist with the rod simply shrugged and the end of the rod lit up again. Raven could swear she saw a sadistic glimmer of happiness in his eyes.

This time, however, the rod was ripped out of his hands by Raven's dark energy and was brought straight into the scientists chest, causing him to spasm and convulse. The other scientists turned to Raven, shocked and angered, but she simply flicked one of her hands and sent them careening into the wall, causing them to slump to the ground, unconscious.

Running to the table, She could hear young Beast Boy's shallow breathing and slowly felt him loose consciousness. Wasting no time, Raven placed her hand on where the latest shock was administered and healed him, looking to his face for a reaction. His eyes slowly started to open, anger and gratitude filled her as she gazed into them. She removed his restraints and simply waited.

"I...I knew you were an angel." He said, half-smiling. Raven half-smirked at this, her worry ebbing. His anger seemed to have left them and was replaced by something Raven couldn't place. Regret, perhaps?

"I'm sorry for what they did. Not all people are like them." She said. Unsure why she was apologizing but knowing she had to console him.

"I know. He doesn't, though." Young Beast Boy said, surprisingly solemnly. Before Raven could ask him what he meant, the memory vanished and Raven found herself back in the metallic hallway part of Beast Boy's mind. Only, now, it didn't look quite so metallic. It was hostile, nonetheless, but the cold quality of it had all but vanished. She knew she was making progress but it had been emotionally draining. Taking a little longer to center herself and prepare herself for the next door, Raven took a deep breath and rushed inside.

She was greeted by the same room she had just left and was confused for a moment. She continued to watch as the same memory seemed to replay itself. The scientist shocked young Beast Boy once, causing him to scream. Raven was confused, but, was about to interject again when a green hand grabbed the scientist's arm, stopping the second attempt at shocking him. The scientist looked at Beast Boy in shock for a moment before he was violently thrown across the room.

Young Beast Boy broke out of his remaining restraints and turned to the other scientists, who were clearly scared. He jumped at the nearest one, despite his numerous injuries from the experiments, he was fast. Before anyone could react, he had sunk his teeth into the scientist's neck, killing him instantly. He then lunged at another, hand morphing into a claw and slitting the scientist's throat. Turned to face the third, young Beast Boy chased him as he tried to run. Tackling him to the ground, Beast boy morphed into a lion and ended him, as well.

Next, he turned his attention to the fourth scientist and bared his fangs. This scientist also tried to run but was stopped in his tracks by a bear blocking his path. Young Beast Boy furiously ended that scientist as well before turning to the scientist who had orchestrated all of his suffering. The one who clearly took some sort of sick pleasure in torturing him. The fifth scientist had since scrambled to his feet after being thrown across the room and held up his metal rod, lighting up the end of it. The fear coming off him was overwhelming but young Beast Boy's predator instincts enjoyed it. He took a deep breath in before shifting into a tiger and rushing the scientist. The scientist was paralyzed by fear as the green tiger pounced on him and made quick work of him, as well. Satisfied with his work, young Beast Boy returned to normal.

Shocked by the display of ruthlessness, Raven marveled for a moment before being glad Beast Boy was on their side. Although they hadn't truly seen his primal rage, minus a momentary encounter with The Beast, she was glad it hadn't been needed thus far. She turned from the scientists to look at young Beast Boy. Only, he didn't seem like the same boy Raven had spoken too moments earlier he had a certain, swagger that Raven couldn't place. As he walked around and observed his work, he looked more like a meticulous child sociopath than the innocent and damaged child she'd just been talking to. Raven walked towards him. Before he could see her, as if on cue, his demeanor shifted and he nearly collapsed. Raven rushed towards him.

"What was that? What happened?" Raven asked, unable to hold the surprise in her voice. Young Beast Boy weakly turned to look at her, as she lifted him up and leaned him against a wall. She began to heal his injuries once again.

"That was, Him. He told he me he'd keep me safe. I didn't think he'd do it like this. Anything but this. Mommy and daddy always told me to never hurt people with my powers." The guilt in his voice was strong and hit Raven like a truck. She stopped healing him for a minute before her mind put it together. The Beast. It wasn't born by those chemicals Beast Boy managed to dump on himself a few years ago, it was created right here, in this lab. The chemicals only gave it a physical form. Raven sat there, absently healing him as her mind ran a mile a minute. It wasn't until young Beast Boy gently grabbed her hand wrist that she focused on what she was doing. She realized he was all healed and she was simply trying to heal the air above him. Raven glanced at him and she saw the self-loathing and guilt engulf his features. She quickly rested her arm over his shoulders and brought him close. Although she was never one for physical contact, she found physical contact with Beast Boy within his mind to be surprisingly easy. She soothed him once again, trying to push his guilt away by telling him he didn't know. Eventually, after talking to him for nearly half an hour, she found that he was asleep. Smiling a half-smile. She rested his head up against the wall moments before she felt herself being pulled out of the memory.

Another door along the hallway vanished, and with it, the hallway lost most of it's metallic quality, minus the large iron doors and the harsh ceiling lights that still shone, brightly.
