Author's 1st Note: Hey, beautiful people!
How is everyone doing during this quarantine? Hope you're all staying safe out there!
Please enjoy this next chapter! There is still so much more to come. ;)
The snorkeling adventure was close to an hour long. Beca and Chloe were able to enjoy each other's company, alone, for almost half of that time. That is, until Aubrey finally realized Chloe had been missing and climbed back onto the boat with Stacie to find her.
"Chloe!" Aubrey said, rushing over to her best friend once she spotted her sitting with Beca on the bench. She gasped when she saw the bandage wrapped around her calf and pushed Beca out of the way to sit down.
"Hey!" Beca groaned, reluctantly standing up since there was no longer any room for her to sit.
"Oh my God, what happened?" Aubrey asked, completely ignoring Beca's protest. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Chloe explained, moving her leg to sit up properly. She missed having Beca next to her. "Just cut my leg against a coral reef."
"What?" Aubrey said. She was still in a state of shock as she observed the work done to Chloe's leg. "When did this even happen? Why didn't you call me? I would have helped you."
"O-Oh, well I, uh–" Chloe looked up at Beca and couldn't contain the smile that naturally appeared. "Beca helped me."
Stacie's brows rose at the confession and she smirked at Chloe when they made eye contact. Aubrey, on the other hand, simply dropped her jaw, surprised.
"What?" she said, slowly turning her head to look at Beca. "You helped her?"
Beca frowned, "Yeah," and crossed her arms, defensively. "What about it?"
Aubrey's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "Why?"
"What do you mean why?" Beca snapped. She didn't like her motives being questioned. Especially by Aubrey. "Chloe got hurt and she needed help. I happened to be around when it happened, so I helped her. So, what?"
Aubrey and Beca were too focused on each other to notice the way Stacie and Chloe were eyeing each other, an amused smirk toying at the corner of Stacie's lips.
Aubrey was still skeptical. "That's just… not like you."
Beca squinted her eyes at her, but just before she could make another retort, Stacie interjected.
"Well, I'm glad you did," she said, breaking the growing tension between Aubrey and Beca. She smiled at Chloe, "And I'm glad you're okay."
Chloe smiled back. "Thank you."
There was a short moment of silence that followed. A comfortable one for Aubrey, yet one filled with hesitation for Beca. She didn't want to leave Chloe's side, but with Aubrey and Stacie there, Beca wasn't sure what the right thing to do was.
Should she stay like she wanted to? Or would that be weird? Ugh… this was so annoying. Why did Aubrey have to show up and ruin things like she always did?
With a roll of her eyes, Beca decided to just bite the bullet and excuse herself from the uncomfortable situation.
"I'm getting another drink," she said, not bothering to give either of the girls a goodbye and she made her way over to the bar.
Chloe frowned as she reluctantly watched Beca leave. It had been nice getting to spend that alone time with her. They were enjoying each other in a public setting without arguing or putting on a show. They were just… themselves.
It was strange how natural it had felt. Casually hanging out certainly wasn't a usual activity in their relationship, but it was nice, and it felt good.
They still had two hours left on the boat and Chloe wondered if perhaps Beca wouldn't have to wait as long to receive the "thank you" she was dying to give her.
After the snorkeling adventure was over, the remaining passengers climbed back on board and the crew made their rounds on collecting the goggles and life vests. Once everyone was settled and all the snorkeling equipment was collected, Sanaa turned the music back on on the speaker and the crew prepared for the descent back to the main docks.
Chloe, though still feeling trapped next to Aubrey, kept tabs on Beca's whereabouts. She watched and waited for an opportunity to get her alone, and when Stacie dragged Aubrey to go dance to the music with her, Chloe figured that was the perfect time to make her move.
Beca had been chatting with one of the couples by the bar. She wasn't aware of Chloe's stealthy approach until she suddenly felt her closely behind her. Her words got caught in her throat when Chloe pressed her lips against Beca's ear.
"Meet me in the downstairs bathroom in 5 minutes," she whispered, smirking. "Knock twice."
Beca's eyes widened and her jaw slacked once she processed the request. Was Chloe serious? Was she really trying to do what Beca thought she was trying to do?
Holy shit.
Hell yes!
By the time Beca turned around to respond, Chloe was already gone. She turned back to the friendly couple, who were looking at her with slight confusion, and put her cup down on the bar top.
"Sorry, um–" Beca said, suddenly feeling flustered, like she had been caught doing something naughty. "Will you excuse me? I have to go… take care of something."
"Yeah, of course. No problem," the husband said, nodding as Beca gestured a quick goodbye and turned away.
She glanced around the boat as she powerwalked, trying to pinpoint the location of every one of her Bella sisters, making sure none of them noticed her. Once she determined that the coast was clear, Beca snuck her way down to the lower level and with every step she took she could feel her heart beating harder in her chest.
Not out of nerves, however, but out of excitement.
Pure, sheer excitement.
When she reached the bathroom door, Beca stopped in front of it. She quickly ran her fingers through her damp hair and inhaled deeply before blowing the air back out and lifting her left hand to knock.
"Chloe?" she said, quietly, tapping the door twice with her knuckle. She waited for a response, but when she didn't receive any, Beca grew worried. She knocked again, "Chlo? Are you in ther–"
All of a sudden the small door slid open and Chloe's hand reached out to wrap around the back of Beca's neck. She pulled her forward and crashed their lips together, relishing in the short whimper Beca released as Chloe stepped back and pulled her into the room with her.
It was a very small bathroom. No bigger than a five by five room. But for what Beca and Chloe were trying to pull off, it was just fine.
Beca moved forward to slide the door shut behind her and kissed Chloe vigorously as she placed her hands on her hips and pushed her back until she was pressed against the sink.
"Fuck," Chloe muttered, gripping onto Beca's hair in desperation. "I've been wanting to do this since we got back on the boat."
"Oh, yeah?" Beca said, nipping at Chloe's lower lip with her teeth. She moved her head back to smirk at her, "I've been wanting to do this–" and pressed her thigh between Chloe's legs, making her moan. "Since I saw you in this tight little bikini."
Chloe chuckled breathlessly when Beca emphasized her statement by snapping the side of her bikini bottom strap. The slight sting sent another surge of pleasure down to her core, reigniting her lustful desire to touch and taste Beca in the most sinful ways.
Chloe's tongue peeked out to lick over her lips as she gazed into Beca's eyes. She noticed they were a shade darker. The same shade they always were whenever they shared one of their intimate moments.
Chloe jerked her head forward to reconnect their lips, her groan getting muffled as Beca continued to grind against her.
"Mmh, Beca…" Chloe moaned, holding her close when Beca broke their kiss to lower her head and pepper soft kisses against her skin.
Beca loved when Chloe said her name like that. The enticing sound urged Beca to graze her teeth over Chloe's sensitive flesh and Chloe hissed at the pleasurable pain.
"How's your leg?" Beca asked, her breath hot against Chloe's neck as she rolled her hips into her again.
Choe bit down on her lower lip, the throbbing between her legs growing stronger by the second.
"Still hurts," she said. The hand that wasn't tangled in Beca's hair snaked it's way down Beca's backside and Chloe grasped onto her rearend to jerk her forward. "But you're making it feel better."
"Oh, really?" Beca grinned. "Bet I can help even more."
Chloe's eyes danced over her curiously. "And how are you going to do tha–" Her sentence was cut off by a squeak when Beca surprised her by hoisting her up and placing her on top of the sink counter. "Oh," she grinned, feeling her skin burn where Beca's hands dragged down her exposed thighs.
"Better?" Beca smirked.
"Much." Chloe recaptured Beca's lips eagerly and lifted her uninjured leg to wrap it around her waist, digging her heel into Beca's lower back to tug her forward.
The thin material of Chloe's bathing suit felt amazing as her hips bucked to meet every roll of Beca's pelvis. Her hands wandered mindlessly, desperate to feel every inch of Beca as their tongues continued to battle for dominance.
Everything about this moment was heated and rushed, but God did it feel amazing.
Beca's mouth moved lower, over Chloe's collarbone and down the valley between her breasts. She continued her descent until she was on her knees, and Chloe gripped onto the edge of the counter as she inhaled sharply, bracing herself for what was to come.
"Shit, wait–" Chloe exhaled, willing herself to look down at Beca.
"What?" Beca asked, concerned. "What's wrong?"
Chloe huffed a laugh, "I just–" and shook her head. "I wanted to thank you for what you did for me earlier."
Beca tilted her head as she gazed back at her. So far, Beca had always denied Chloe's assumptions of her actions being for her, but to Chloe's surprise, Beca didn't refute it this time. Instead, she slowly stood back up on her feet and smiled before kissing her soundly.
"You can thank me later," Beca said, dragging her hands down Chloe's thighs as she began to re-lower herself into her previous position. "For now–" Beca muttered, placing open mouthed kisses across Chloe's inner thighs. "Let me help you get your mind off of the pain."
Chloe nodded and nibbled on her bottom lip as she watched Beca hook her fingertips into the waistband of her bikini bottoms. Just before Beca could pull the material lower, a sudden pounding on the door startled them both.
"Hello?" It was Amy.
Beca and Chloe froze in place and stared at each other with wide eyes, pressing their lips together to keep from making a sound.
"Can whoever's in there please hurry up," Amy continued. "I've got a monkey tail comin' out of my behind."
Beca's nose cringed at her analogy and Chloe snorted in amusement, quickly bringing her hand up to silence herself.
She shook her head at Beca. "What are we gonna do?" she asked, whispering as quietly as she could.
Beca shrugged and shook her head back. "I don't know."
Despite the sudden pressure, she took a moment to think. They were on the verge of getting caught and not by just anyone, but by someone who was probably the most gossipy Bella sister they had.
That was something they couldn't afford. After pondering their options, Beca finally settled on one.
"Okay, I've got an idea," she said. "I'm going to leave first and get Amy away from here. Wait a few minutes and then come back up stairs."
Chloe's brow furrowed. "You sure that's gonna work? She sounds like she really needs the bathroom. How are you going to get her to leave?"
Beca responded with a quick kiss to her lips and grinned. "Just trust me," she said. "I've got this." She nodded to the side, gesturing for Chloe to get behind her, so Chloe did and she held her breath as Beca finally opened the door.
"Beca?" Fat Amy said. "What are doin' I'm there? I've gotta–" She moved to push passed Beca but Beca quickly stopped her in her tracks.
"Wait! Don't go in there!" she said, stepping forward and sliding the door shut behind her..
Fat Amy curved a curious brow. "What? Why not?"
"B-Because…" Beca had to think quickly. "Because I took a shit!"
Chloe snorted at Beca's choice in cover up but quickly pressed a hand over her mouth to muffle the sound. Beca's eyes widened in panic and Fat Amy's bow furrowed.
"What was that?"
Beca slowly pressed her back against the door and swore she could feel a bead of sweat drip down the side of her face.
"What was what?"
Smooth.
Fat Amy's eyes squinted as she looked at Beca skeptically, and if Beca's heart wasn't racing before, it certainly was now!
"Why are you actin' so weird?" She was suspicious. Which was not good.
Beca needed to get out of this situation as quickly as possible.
"Are you really thatembarrassed about the borrie you just laid?"
Beca's forehead curved. "The what?"
"The borrie," Fat Amy said, again. When Beca continued to stare at her in confused silence, Amy explained further. "You know. The deuce…" Beca still wasn't comprehending. "The Hershey squirt. The smash, the brown beast…"
Silence.
Fat Amy rolled her eyes. "My gawd, Beca. The shit! The shit you said you just squeezed out in there."
It was so hard for Chloe to remain quiet, listening to the conversation. She had to press her other hand even harder over her nose and mouth in order to keep from making any kind of noise.
"Oh! Uh, y-yeah," Beca laughed, nervously. "Yeah, sorry. I think it was the eggs I had this morning." This was definitely going to go down as one of the weirdest lies she's ever had to tell.
Amy was still eyeing her dubiously, but after a few excruciatingly awkward moments of silence, she finally broke the tension.
"Well, alright. I mean, if it's really that bad," she shrugged. "I guess I could try the bathroom on the other side of the boat."
"Yes!" Beca said, almost too excitedly, before quickly calming her tone. "I mean, yeah. That's– That's probably a good idea." There was a part of her that knew Amy wasn't completely buying her excuse, but Amy also wasn't questioning it and she didn't go into the bathroom to find the truth.
So, what the hell? Beca could go along with it if Amy was willing to.
They left the area together and once they reached the top deck, Beca excused herself to visit the bar again. The couple she had been previously chatting with had disappeared, but it was fine. Beca's mind was still reeling with a rollercoaster of thoughts; beginning with the way Chloe's body felt writhing against hers and ending with the fact that they were almost caught.
She took a sip from the water bottle she grabbed and eyed the top of the staircase that led to the lower level on the other side of the boat. A few moments later, Chloe appeared, fixing her hair and readjusting her bikini top before making her way over to Aubrey and Stacie.
Beca snickered at the sight and shook her head, trying to ignore the way her stomach was fluttering.
After the boat tour, the Bellas still had an hour left to explore St. Thomas. Aubrey opted for them to enjoy the outdoor shopping strip located by the docks and made sure the girls were all clear to meet back up at the cruise entrance by five o'clock.
Beca had chosen to shop with Amy. She knew there was a risk of her bringing up the awkward bathroom incident again, but Beca was confident she would be able to cover for it if that moment ever came.
Thankfully that moment never arose and Beca was able to enjoy the company of her best friend in peace. Well, to an extant. Her best friend was Fat Amy afterall. She wasn't exactly known for being the most quiet, calm and sensible person in the world.
After hitting a few of the main stores, Beca and Amy explored some of the outdoor shopping boutiques. Fat Amy went on the hunt for a nice souvenir for her mother, leaving Beca alone to shop on her own.
She wasn't searching for anything specific, mostly just glancing and wandering around to pass the time. She couldn't help but think about Chloe during this time alone. Mostly about how disappointed she was that they hadn't been able to finish what they had started in the bathroom, but as Beca's eyes danced over a section of jewelry on display, she also thought about how worried she had been when Chloe had gotten hurt.
Sure it turned out to be just a scratch. A large one at that, but still a scratch nonetheless, and it surprised Beca how quickly her instincts seemed to have kicked in when she heard Chloe cry out in pain.
It was like an adrenaline rush was triggered and all she was focused on was protecting Chloe and making sure she was okay, which was… weird.
Beca wasn't sure what was up with her and what these new feelings towards Chloe meant. She knew the fact that they had been sleeping together every night, thus far, certainly had a part to play in it, but Beca couldn't find it in herself to explore those feelings any deeper.
This was all just because of the sex. Yeah. That's it.
After this trip was over, Beca was sure the feelings would fade, and they could go back to hating each other.
Beca froze and furrowed her brow at the thought. Is that what you really want?
Her internal question was left unanswered when her eyes landed on a particular piece of jewelry. She stepped closer and extended her hand to get a better look at it.
It was a cute silver necklace with a silver turtle charm attached to it. The center of the turtle's shell was made up from some kind of blue stone, and it made Beca smile when it reminded her of the color of Chloe's eyes.
She swallowed when the urge to buy the necklace suddenly sparked within her. Should she? She knew she wanted to, but as to why she wanted to was a question Beca was still refusing to acknowledge.
Beca's brow curved and she chewed on the inside of her cheek.
Fuck it, was her final thought.
Beca removed the necklace from it's place on the display, mentally giving the finger to every warning siren that was blasting in her mind, and walked it over to the owner of the stand.
Once Beca paid, the woman opened a small bag and began placing the necklace inside.
"Can you put it in a box?" Beca couldn't help but ask.
The woman looked at her. "A box?"
"Yeah," Beca said, clearing her throat. "Like a little gift box or something? Do you have any of those?"
"One moment."
Beca nodded as she watched the woman dip down and disappear under the cash register. She nibbled on her bottom lip nervously, hoping to get the box before Fat Amy turned up.
"Will this work?"
Beca turned and found the woman smiling at her, holding a small, white box in her hand.
Beca smiled back. "That's– That's perfect," she said, nodding. "Thank you."
Chloe was the last one in the room and sighed as she leaned back against the heavy door to close it.
"Phew," she said, eyes closed as she inhaled deeply. "I'm exhausted." She tossed her bag to the floor and dragged her feet over to the bed before collapsing onto the soft sheets, face first. "God this feels so good."
Beca snickered as she watched her. She had to admit she, too, was exhausted from their long, active day in the hot sun. She walked over to the table and sat down with a grunt. Her body was sore from snorkeling and her cheeks stung warmly with what Beca assumed was a slight sunburn. She wanted nothing more than to plop down onto the bed right next to Chloe and knock out, but it was already five forty-five and Beca knew they had still to get ready for dinner.
Beca was still holding the white shopping bag in her hand and brought it closer to her. "You alright there, Princess?" she asked, lifting her eyes to smirk at Chloe.
"Mh'fine," was her muffled response, before she slowly lifted her head and turned it on it's side to look at Beca. "Just tired."
"Yeah, me too." Beca looked down at the bag in her hands, chewing on the inside of her cheek as nerves began to settle in her stomach. Her change in demeanor was obvious and Chloe's forehead curved as she looked at her.
"You okay?" she asked, propping up onto her elbow. "What's wrong?"
"Hm?" Beca looked up and blinked. "Oh, uh, yeah. I'm fine. I just– uh…" She fiddled with the bag. After initially being confident in her purchase and choice to gift Chloe the necklace, now that the said redhead was gazing back at her with those bright blue eyes of hers, Beca suddenly felt hesitant, doubting her impulsive choice all together.
"What'd you buy?"
Beca looked up at her. "What?"
Chloe pointed at the bag she was still fidgeting with. "You got that from one of the stores from the shopping center, didn't you?"
Beca looked down at the bag one more time and pressed her lips together. It was now or never.
"It's uh–" Beca huffed a brief chuckle and forced herself to look back up at Chloe. "It's for you." She held out the bag in Chloe's direction and waited.
The next few seconds felt like an eternity as Chloe eyed the bag curiously. Her eyebrows were quirked and her head was tilted, and Beca thought her heart was going to pound right out of her chest if she waited any longer.
"You… You bought me something?" The corner of her lips slowly curved up and the sight helped ease Beca's anxiety.
Beca inhaled. "I did." She stood up from her seat and leaned forward until Chloe could reach the bag and grab it.
"Well," Chloe stared at the bag in surprise. "Thank you." She placed the bag on the beg and removed the small box that was inside.
Beca bit down on her bottom lip in anticipation as she watched the lid get removed, but then Chloe gasped and Beca swallowed, suddenly feeling a large knot in her throat.
Shit.
"Beca…" Chloe said, breathlessly, her jaw slacked as she held the turtle charm between her fingers, running her thumb over the blue gem. "This is–" She shook her head.
"You don't like it, huh?" Beca quickly said, worried. She always had a knack for jumping to her own conclusions. "Yeah, sorry. That was… stupid of me." Her eyes danced around nervously and her hand came up to rub the back of her neck. "I should've asked you first, er– Maybe not have even gotten it at all. I just thought since you said you liked turtles and when I saw it, the stone sort of reminded me of–"
"I love it."
Beca's rambling stopped. "Y-You do?"
"Of course I do. Beca, this is... " She looked at the necklace again. "This is really sweet of you." She smiled at Beca, who finally relaxed and smiled back at her.
"Yeah?" she asked.
Chloe nodded. "Yeah." She unhooked the latch, "Can you," and grinned at Beca as she lifted it closer to her neck, "help me put it on?"
Beca's eyes widened briefly, but she didn't hesitate to stand back up. "Sure."
Chloe's smile widened and she sat up to skooch herself closer to the edge of the bed. Once she felt Beca's presence behind her, Chloe moved her hair over to cascade it down one of her shoulders. She held each open end of the necklace up and shuddered when Beca took hold of it, grazing her fingers over Chloe's bare shoulders and making her skin rise with a series of goosebumps.
Beca carefully hooked the piece of jewelry together and exhaled when she finished. As she stared at the thin silver chain, Beca found herself having to fight a strong desire to run her hands over Chloe's shoulders and massage her. It wasn't easy to resist, Beca's breathing increasing in pace the longer she eyed Chloe's sun kissed skin, but then Chloe turned and looked up at Beca.
"Thank you," she said, making Beca's brain go haywire when she slipped a hand around the base of her skull and gently pulled her down to kiss her.
