Previously on Frenemies:

Nodding Karin turned to leave with Ami, spotting Sasuke making his way into the cafeteria. Smirking she made her way towards him, surely he wouldn't want to sit with Sakura.

"Sasuke-kun," she purred, placing her hands on his shoulders.

"Have you seen my mom?" he asked curtly, it was too early for this shit.

She nodded, "You won't believe who she's having breakfast with." she murmured pulling him down from his loose uniform tie.

"Who?" he asked in a bored tone.

"Sakura Haruno." she whispered in his ear before pulling back and directing her gaze to their table, letting Sasuke follow her gaze until it landed on the pinkette who was smiling sheepishly at whatever his mother was telling her, unaware that she had just witnessed the intimate interaction between him and the red-haired.

Sasuke walked towards his mom who seemed to be having the time of her life talking to the pinkette.

"Mom," he started, avoiding the pinkette's gaze. He felt her eyes on him but he wouldn't spare her a glance.

"Sasuke honey! These girls have just been spoiling me with their company, sit here." She said, patting the seat next to her.

"I'm not hungry-"

"Nonsense! You can't go to classes without eating, here sit down while I serve you some breakfast-"

Shaking his head, Sasuke placed his hand on his mom's shoulder, "Don't, I'll go." He told her, making his way towards the food.

Before he could get too far, he heard Sakura trying to excuse herself from the table, but his mother wouldn't let her. He made sure to take extra long to fill up his plate.

Neji paced around the locker room's office. He and Tenten had been trying to figure something out for the upcoming game, but the pressure was messing with his ability to come up with a solid plan.

"Neji, stressing out about the game won't help us come up with a strategy." Tenten disputed, trying to convince him that he shouldn't let it get to his head.

He sighed, she was right, she always was, "We can't have any players getting booked, especially not the key players."

Tenten nodded, "Then we won't provoke the refs."

Neji hated how the referees always managed to take Tenten off the field by giving her yellow cards until they dismissed her even when all she did was play clean, but he hated how they swarmed her once she was off the field.

"I don't want you on the field this upcoming game." He decided, he didn't need any distractions while playing and referees trying to make a pass at the brunette was definitely going to be a distraction.

"Uh you can't do that!" She protested, crossing her arms across her chest.

"I can, and that's final."

She narrowed her eyes, "B-but Neji! I'm a great forward, you can't deny that! I made a brace last game before they dismissed me!"

"Exactly they dismissed you."

"But I still scored us two points!"

Neji rubbed the bridge of his nose, she was so annoying, "It's final." he said through gritted teeth.

"This is super unfair and you know it. Why can''t you let me just play? You big fat jerk!" She huffed.

"You'll play next game, I promise."

Next game he'd let her play, where he was sure the referees there weren't perverts.

Sasuke took a seat next to his mother, it wasn't every day he had breakfast with her and he wasn't about to let Sakura know how she affected him.

He finally glanced at Sakura who was already looking at him.

She raised at brow at him.

"Have you met Sakura, Sasuke sweetie?"

"Hn." He grunted, focusing on his food. Is she wearing eyeliner? he thought. Even her hair was styled different, he noted.

Mikoto smiled apologetically at the pinkette, "He doesn't talk much."

"I'm aware," Sakura agreed.

Mikoto laughed, "Ah, so you have met."

"Unfortunately," Sakura mumbled under her breath.

"What was that dear?" Mikoto asked.

Sakura shook her head, stuffing her mouth with a piece of orange, "Nowthin," she smiled, chewing the rest of the orange in her mouth, "That these oranges are really delicious, have you tried them?" she lied once she swallowed the fruit, offering her a slice of her orange.

Ino bit her lip, preventing herself from laughing once again.

Sasuke rolled his eyes, if he was able to hear her, he was pretty sure his mother heard what she had said.

Before Mikoto could kindly decline, Sasuke snatched the piece of orange from the pinkette and their fingers brushed, "I haven't." Sakura quickly pulled her hand away as if it burned.

"Sasuke! Where are your manners?" Mikoto scolded. Of course, she didn't miss the way the pair reacted upon physical contact, but that was a conversation for a different day.

Sakura bit her tongue before she could mutter something else, choosing to huff instead.

Sasuke ate the orange slice along with the rest of his food in silence, not missing the way Sakura glared at him.

Before any of them could speak, a certain red-haired teen approached their table, "Sakura, can we just talk? I-" he stopped talking once he realized he had an audience and it wasn't just the pinkette, "I thought you weren't coming back until Monday." he scowled looking at his friend who didn't look very happy to see him either.

"Change of plans." Sasuke answered through gritted teeth.

Gaara nodded, "Glad to have you back, good morning Mikoto-san."

"Oh, don't worry about me, you seem to have an urgent matter to discuss with Sakura." she reminded with a hint of curiosity in her voice.

Sakura stood up hastily, eager to get out of the situation fast, "I apologize Mikoto, but you're going to have to excuse me." she hesitated with an uncertain smile.

"No worries dear, it was great meeting you! Hopefully we're able to do this another time?"

Sakura nodded before she followed Gaara out of the cafeteria.

Sasuke's grip tightened around his utensils.

Mikoto observed her son quietly, suppressing her small smirk.

"I only agreed to come with you because I needed to get out of there." Sakura began, she didn't need him assuming she went because it was her choice.

"I understand that you don't want anything to do with me, but I just wanted to clear the air between us."

She scoffed, Like it's that simple.

Seeing how she didn't say anything, he continued, "Sakura, we didn't intend to hurt you. It was in the spur of the moment and if we didn't agree to it, the other guys would have had no problem joining the bet."

Sakura's eyebrows furrowed, "What?"

"At the welcoming party, Sora and the other upperclassmen were placing bets on…" he trailed off, not wanting to finish that thought.

"On what?" she pressed.

"That's not relevant, the point is, it involved you and we did what we thought was best at that moment."

Sakura narrowed her eyes at him, "And I'm supposed to believe that?"

He sighed, running a hand through his short locks, "No, I don't expect you to."

"Then I think we're done here." She said with finality.

"Wait." Gaara called, taking a couple steps to reach her, "Sakura, I'm sorry." He spoke with sincerity, reaching out to hold her hand.

She sighed, allowing him to hold her hand even though she should have pushed him away.

"If it's any consolation, Sasuke tried to stop this whole ordeal, I did too but I…" He trailed off again, looking off into the distance as if trying to garner the courage to say something, "I wanted you all to myself."

She opened her mouth to retort that he was full of shit, but he jerked her towards him and kissed her.

Before he could deepen the kiss, she pulled away, pushing him back with force, "Gaara!"

He looked down, slightly embarrassed but mostly frustrated knowing that if it had been Sasuke, she would have no problem kissing him back.

"You can't just kiss me like that!" She hissed, "Just because you and your idiot friends thought I was easy, doesn't mean that I am." She pushed passed him before she could punch the jerk in the face.

"Teme, you have to tell her you know-"

"No."

"But what if-"

"No."

Sasuke didn't need to hear about how he should make himself vulnerable to the only girl he let his walls come down only to make a fool of himself again.

The blonde huffed, "Listen to me, will you?" he exclaimed to which Sasuke just leaned back on the headboard, massaging his temples, deciding to let his idiot friend rant, "I was talking with Hina and she-"

"Dobe, if you're going to be running to your girlfriend everytime I say something, then-"

"Shut up bastard! It's called communication! Something you and Sakura-chan need to work on, if you ask me."

"Well I wasn't, so shut the fuck up."

It was as if the blonde hadn't heard the Uchiha because he continued talking, "Anyway! Hina told me Sak-"

"I. Don't. Care."

He didn't want to know about the girl who had no problem kissing his friend after ending things with him.

Sighing the blonde finally took the hint.

It was finally Friday and it was their first official date. They both leaned against each other on a bench overlooking the school's pond, enjoying the near silence of nature, a rare occurrence for the blonde, but for his Hinata he was willing to control his loud mouth.

With everything going on with his best mates, he couldn't fathom the thought of losing his blue haired beauty. He couldn't believe someone as beautiful as Hinata liked him to begin with. It had never crossed his mind, thus why he never tried seeing her as anything else, not that it mattered anyway, he had always had a small crush on her throughout the years.

"Hinata-chan are we…" the blonde hesitated before deciding to blurt out what he was feeling, "Are we okay?

She looked up at him, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion, "O-of course, Naruto-kun, w-why wouldn't we b-be?"

"It's just that with everything that happened with the teme and Sakura-chan, I don't want that to ever happen to us." He admitted in a worried tone.

Smiling softly at him she shook her head, "It w-won't as long as c-communication b-between us remains g-good. It's t-the biggest i-issue I see between both of t-them," she sighed with a pout, "T-that and she's r-really stubborn."

He is too, the blonde thought, "How is she anyway?"

"S-she's been doing better, I-I think s-she's f-finally moving p-past this," she smiled softly, "T-the break from S-Sasuke-kun did h-her well."

"Can't say the same about the bastard, seems even grouchier these days, he even had a confrontation with Gaara over something so stupid! It's ridiculous." the blonde huffed.

"Confrontation?" she asked.

Naruto nodded, "Yeah, you know how petty both of them can get." he shrugged off, trying to avoid more questions he didn't want to accidentally answer.

Hinata nodded, accepting his minimalistic answers, "Well, I-I grabbed us some pastries from the cafeteria," She said, opening the box next to her, "T-they asked if I wanted t-to help them w-with my recipe I gave them last time, s-so I helped m-make these."

Naruto looked at her in awe, how had he gotten this lucky? He grinned from ear to ear, "I can't wait to dig in!"

Ino couldn't believe her luck, she had found the perfect girl to introduce Sai to and nothing could possibly go wrong.

Ino was wise when it came to matchmaking and she didn't miss the subtle glances and stares Ami gave her latest project. And it wasn't only her, a bunch of girl were suddenly finding him attractive the moment they saw him hanging around the sought out golden-girl.

She almost squealed at the thought of him having his first romantic date with someone, but she contained it as she passed people in the hallway to make her way to the girls restroom.

She nearly skipped through the door before she caught sight of her ex-best friend retouching her make-up in front of the restroom mirror.

Temari turned to the leggy blonde, with an impassive look on her face.

"Sorry, I'll just go to another…uh… r-restroom…" She trailed off as she walked away.

"Ino wait."

Ino stopped in her tracks and turned to Temari. A bubble of hope surfaced within the blonde. Call her crazy, but she was waiting for Temari to see that her little boyfriend was the issue all along.

"You don't have to leave," She told her.

Ino nodded, making her way to the mirror.

Temari continued to touch up her make-up, occasionally turning to Ino when she felt the blonde staring, "What?"

Ino shook her head, lightly laughing, "It's just that I didn't know you liked your make-up that way." She commented, recalling how Temari tended to keep make-up to a minimum. She smiled, "Its a good look on you."

Temari clicked her tongue, "There's a lot you didn't bother knowing about me," she sighed, putting her essentials away in her make-up pouch before looking up at Ino, "I don't blame you though," she shrugged, "I allowed myself to be your little sidekick." She bit out with a sarcastic smile, "But that's over with now. At least for me it is. Do me a favor, don't be so hard on Sai."

Ino swallowed the lump in her throat, "Was I..." she paused, taking a deep breath, "How long have you been feeling this way?"

"Does it matter at this point?" She asked rhetorically before making her way out of the restroom.

"It does, Tem. I-I never meant to hurt you, and I'm sorry if I did. I thought I was helping you, I never knew-"

"Of course you didn't. It was always about you, and 'how difficult it is to be you', wasn't it?" she laughed bitterly, "I don't even know why I'm talking about this with you right now, I have to go." she said with finality before rushing out of the restroom.

Sakura walked down the corridor leading up to dance practice. A couple days had passed since the whole ordeal with Sasuke's mom, and she had been doing a great.

That was until she saw Matsuri talking to Sasuke who seemed uninterested as always. Sakura didn't miss the way the girl tried anything to get closer to him and how he didn't move away from her advances.

She rolled her eyes, Another conquest, she thought bitterly. It wasn't that she cared he was seeing someone else already because it had been weeks. She just hated the way she had been right all along about that receptionist. She gritted her teeth tormenting herself with thoughts of them laughing behind her back while they were a thing.

Did she know? She wondered before shaking her head from thoughts that would end no where. After all, she was decided to move on from the Uchihas. That included Itachi who she hadn't been in contact since everything went down.

Matsuri ended her conversation with the Uchiha and followed it up with a kiss on his cheek, a little too close to the corner of his mouth. Sakura clenched her fists, but she had no intention of being seen by either parties. So she hurriedly tried passing to a different corridor and she would've been successful if it hadn't been for the skimpy brunette who stopped to greet her.

"Sakura, was it?" she said, eyeing the pinkette with a bit of distaste.

Sakura decided to play nice, she had no relation with Sasuke anymore so she shouldn't be so affected, or at least show it. She had to salvage the bit of pride she had left.

Smiling politely Sakura nodded, "Yup that's me."

"It's been a while since I seen you," she smirked, "Last time I did, you were still with Sasuke-kun," she laughed lightly, "Crazy how things change so fast."

Sakura couldn't suppress the sarcastic smile from forming on her lips, "Yeah just a couple weeks ago you were dying at the chance of taking my place. No need for such drastic measures, he's all yours." she ended, intending to walk past her.

Matsuri's laugh stopped her from walking away, "Oh sweetie, I didn't need a title to get the pleasure of having him then and I don't need it now."

Sakura had obviously thought this to be a possibility, but for her to voice it out so cynically was something beyond the scope of her imagination, "W-what?"

"I don't kiss and tell, but," she improvised, as she quickly realized the effect this had on the pinkette, "We work together nearly every day in an office that's empty more than half of the time he's there, you can imagine what takes place in such a deserted environment." she stated with a conniving smirk, looking down at her watch, "Would you look at the time! I gotta run, but maybe we can catch up some other time?"

Sakura didn't know she could feel anymore pain after Sasuke's confession. She swallowed the lump in her throat and ran to the dance room.
