The next morning…
Location: Kian's Apartment, Lower Manhatten, New York.
Date: 21st of July 2010
Time: Around 8 AM
Kian's POV
The sun lit up the inside of my apartment as I bobbed up and down. I flooded my body with as much Cosmic Power as I did my daily workout, 4 hours of it I had the sweat to prove it. I jabbed, punched and kicked as I worked through the excruciating pain.
If you wanted to know what it was like, you know when you worked out for a long time and you feel sore? Now imagine it everywhere. Yeah, it was like that. Not fun!
I pushed my body to its limits, ignoring the screams to stop. My muscles burned as I went on, my whole body was struggling to stand up. Come on Kian, push further, go beyond, further beyond! That's what my school used to say. Pain is temporary, results are permanent.
My living room was filled with rock music, mainly remixes of Fall Out Boy to get me pumped up, rock and heavy metal music strike my fancy, although anything high octane can get me in the fighting mood.
I went on for another 30 minutes, careful not to release a photon blast at my TV or fly through a wall and end up giving some old lady a heart attack. I did the same for my air and lightning powers, careful to not go all Thor! Son of Odin! so early in the morning
The ability to control the air and lightning was unlocked after Thor helped me. It had something to do with eating a strand of Thor's hair which was just weird! I always thought controlling lightning was cool and low and behold, I had it in me all this time. I just needed a catalyst. I still need practise in it however, I've only had these powers for a few years.
We stayed in Asgard for a summer, a reward after stopping some giant beast and saving a whole planet. We trained there and we got a few souvenirs. Chris got a two-handed hammer that had lighting powers; what Mjolnir was supposed to be. Milena received a pair of gauntlets that she could use to punch people with and I got an axe, which I kept as a souvenir. The others got some cool stuff too
I miss those moments. I miss them so much. They would be safer without me, i-it's the only way I can keep them safe. I blinked away the tears and head off to take a shower, ending the suffering that my body was feeling. The more I push my limits, the more it hurts but I can use enough to heal the soreness.
Right now, I can only push cosmic power up to 90%, I need to get it to 100% if I hope to stand a chance against her. I grabbed a towel and made my way to my bathroom, ready to take a shower.
A couple of hours later...
That shower was nice and refreshing. I would have enjoyed the relaxing aura but my stomach was rumbling. Oh, must be hungry after that workout, I felt like eating so I poured myself a bowl of cereal, fruit juice, sandwiches and some pizza I had gotten from yesterday. As I began eating, I turned on the TV and sat on my couch.
It was the usual stuff. Boring until I flicked on to a news report about Tony Stark. Iron Man himself
Cue the gasps from readers!
The news report was going on what happened in the Stark Expo, you know, the whole battle against Vanko.
"I guess you had to get into the superhero life, don't you Uncle Tony?"
And oh, yeah. Tony Stark is a family friend of ours
Cue another set of gasps from the audience!
He was the one who got me and Harrison into science. My Uncle, from my mother's side, knew Tony's family and that's how we know each other. Ha-
RING RING
Oh, speaking of Iron Man. He here is calling me up. I picked up, "Hey, Tony?"
"Hey Kid, I was beginning to think you might not return the call,'' Tony said. I could hear mechanical whirring in the background
"No, I'm still here, so, what are you working on, a new suit?"
"You heard that. Oh yeah, forgot you have a good set of ears, if they grow any bigger we might have to call you Dumbo!"
"Very funny, so, how you holding up after the whole Vanko incident?"
"Yeah, I'm good. I've made some new improvements to the arc reactor now. No palladium poisoning", Tony replied. "So what about Harry, does he need a new reactor. If he does, can you give it to him?"
"Just send it to him by post"
"If I didn't know you any better, I think you might be joking. Can't you, you know, teleport?"
"Oh, yeah. Forgot that was a thing," I deadpanned.
I teleported myself to Tony's lab and almost gave him a heart attack. "Ah, Jesus!"
Location: Malibu, California. Tony Stark's Lab
Time: 10:20AM
"No, it's just Kian," I quipped. Although, if Greek Gods exist, what's to say that Jesus or even the Abrahamic Gods don't exist? That's something to think about for later.
Tony rolled his eyes but he shook it off. "So, what do you think, is my lab still cool?"
I looked around and saw suits of armour, all of them custom-built and all running a bit of damage from their battles. Mark 3 and 4 shelved because of said reason. "Yeah, it still is. You know, Harry wants a lab this size. He says he won't give up on it."
Tony nodded. "He is pretty clever."
"So, what did you tell me about a new arc reactor?" I asked.
Tony gestured to me to follow. "I built it from dad's designs. He was studying something called the Tesseract"
Carol, me and now Tony. That blue cube surely does have some history on Earth.
"It's something he fished out of the ocean, now it's with SHIELD and all," Tony continued. "But this little do-hickey, it's keeping me alive, stops the shrapnel from reaching inside my heart"
"Why don't you take it out? You know you don't have to walk with a small nuclear reactor in your chest?" I asked, curious to know his answer
"Technically it's an electromagnet but it's..you know..a part of me now. It's like a reminder of the stress I have to carry with being a superhero now", Tony explained as he tapped the arc reactor. "I guess I shouldn't be complaining when you've suffered much worse than I?"
"Yeah, this whole superhero business, it's not all it's cracked up to be. Sorry," I replied
Tony nodded. "So, how are the rest of your friends doing? Do you talk with them after-"
"Yeah, we message and call each other. Talking to them, it makes me feel better you know," I replied
"Obviously. So, you wanna help me make a new armour?", Tony asked. "It might make your clip-on armour look like a child's toy."
I laughed. "Tony, it's just extra armour. It's not meant to be advanced like yours. I mean Harry's one is like yours"
"Oh, I know. That little assistant of yours doesn't compare to Jarvis"
"Hey, say that again Goatee!" Scars buzzed to life, taking both of us by surprise
Tony looked surprised at my AI's interjection. He frowned before he spoke up, looking at his ceiling. "Hey, Jarvis, you want a friend to play with?"
"After seeing your work, that would be nice," Jarvis replied. "Hello old friend"
"Hey, Jarvis, my man, how are you doing?" my AI asked cheerily
"I'm splendid, updating my databases"
"Really? I thought you would be doing stuff you know? Maybe enjoying your downtime, surfing the web?"
"No, still here helping Mr Stark"
"Kina, why does your AI have an American Accent and mine a British Accent?" Tony asked. "I'm not a poet but I like the duality"
"Harry thought it might be funny. So can-"
RING RING
I glanced to see Annabeth calling me again. I guess that's my cue to leave.
"Who's that, a friend?", Tony asked
"Yeah. I'm going to have to go," I replied. "Scars, time to go!"
"Aw, we were getting into armour comparisons!" Scars replied
"You do realise that my armour is nowhere near his right?" I questioned my AI. "I already have enough superpowers, it's just extra protection"
"See ya, Kian. I'll ask Happy to send the designs to Harry, I know he's the tech expert in your group," Tony replied
"Yeah, he's a better engineer than me, that's for sure," I replied. "See ya, Tony. Try not to get into any fights okay, I don't want to see you hurt too."
"Bye, have fun Kid."
Location: Camp Half-Blood, Long Island, New York
Time: Around 11 AM
Weather: Clear and Sunny skies
I teleported to the front of Camp Half-Blood. Clear Azure blue skies streaked the heavens, not a cloud in sight as I looked up. The winds were cool and refreshing as it rippled my hair. Everything I saw was painted with the golden light of the sun.
To enjoy this sunny weather, I was dressed in a blue sleeveless shirt and denim shorts. I paired it with white trainers too. Gotta keep cool during this hot weather, you know? I did grow up in the UK so sunny weather was welcome from the gloomy grey clouds that usually roamed overhead
Anyway, I glanced to see Annabeth and Percy both near the entrance. They were dressed in orange shirts and blue jean shorts. Guess I wasn't the only one who was trying to keep cool in this nice weather
"Hey guys, I got your call," I replied. "What's up?"
"Percy told me, how you said you would train him?" Annabeth asked curiously
"Yeah, I did. So, where do you want me to train you?" I asked Percy.
"The Sword Training Arena," Percy replied. "It's where we, well train with swords. It's quite self-explanatory."
"You know, I thought you would come up with cooler names," I replied. "Your Greek Heroes all have cool names"
"Oh yeah? What would you come up with?" Annabeth asked
I thought to myself/ "Combat Arena. Unless you train there with swords only"
Annabeth shrugged, "Fair enough. You must know something about fighting with a sword"
Percy agreed with his girlfriend, "Yeah, that arm blade you did was so cool!"
"Thanks, so do you want to start then? I can go through the basics?" I asked
"Oh, he's good with a sword," Annabeth explained. "He's been using it for the past 4 years. He's even fought Kronos with one"
"Ah, nice-Wait wait wait! Kronos?!, the one who ate Zeus and everyone?!" I exclaimed. "You fought him?!"
"Yeah, we won too," Percy explained. "I would have called you to help but you know, I didn't know you, or someone like you could exist."
"Yeah yeah, I get you. So that storm, what was you guys?" I asked
"That was Typhoon. But yeah, that was us," Annabeth said. "Come on, Percy needs to train"
"Why?", I asked again. "Is there a reason?"
"Well, there are monsters and well when you're a demigod, all they do is hunt you," Percy said. "That's why we train"
I stared at him, "Wait?! You're not kidding?!"
"Yeah, it's just the story of our lives," Annabeth explained. "And all of it hidden to mortals"
"How?! I mean I think it would be obvious if there's a monster running around?"
"It's because of something called the Mist. It hides the monsters from humans," Percy explained. "Only demigods and clear-sighted humans and I guess aliens can see through it"
"Yeah, Percy's got a point, can you always see through the mist?" Annabeth asked. "Just curious"
"I mean I don't know, I've never seen a Greek Monster running around, and I didn't even know what to look out for either," I replied. "Although, I did live over the Atlantic so...that may be why."
Percy nodded. "Oh, you might need a sword. Can you make one?"
"I've got something better, my actual sword." I imagined my spear and summoned it in my hands. It appeared in a flash of blue light, my right hand across the leather grip. I willed it to change into a sword. It did so in a flash of red, obeying my command
"Wow!" Percy said as he glanced at my sword, "That's cool!"
"Thanks, I had to fight someone for it, he and I didn't get along so well."
The blade of the sword was around half of me. I'm around 1.90m (around 6ft 2in) so do with that what you will. The blade itself was a deep and vibrant scarlet-red with black markings on it. It had a crossguard resembling a pair of black metallic angel wings over the hilt, quite fitting if you ask me. It felt light in my hands and easily manoeuvrable as I swung it around. It hummed, almost like a lightsaber as it resonated within me.
(A/N: When in sword form, it looks like the Demon Dweller Sword from Black Clover, but the blade is a Scarlet Red and the crossguard resembles that of Angel wings. When in Spear Form, it looks like Gae Bolg from Fate/Stay Night: UBW, the Spear Lancer used in the show. What and how Kian obtained this weapon? Well...keep reading!)
"Guess it's my turn then," Percy replied. He pulled out a ballpoint pen
"You know, they say the pen is mightier than the sword but that's just ridiculous!" I quipped
Percy took off the cap and the pen turned into a blade, approximately half the size of him, complete with a trident near the hilt. "What do you think of it?" he asked me
I whistled in appreciation, "Well, consider me impressed. Let's go train!"
Location: Sword Training Arena
Time: Around 11:10 AM
"Your sword, what's it called?"
"What?" I asked. I looked around, taking in the sights of the arena. It was like a stadium, the floor was soft grass and there were straw dummies scattered all over the place. Most likely as practice dummies
"You should tell them. They deserve to know..."
I shook it off and spoke. "Oh, my sword...well this one...it's called the Sword of Michael," I said sheepishly, not wanting to tell them the real name of the sword in front of me. The real Sword of Michael was back at home and looking at this demonic sword, it was not that.
Percy laughed. "I didn't know you had a weapon named after yourself"
"What?"
Percy recoiled slightly, his face running through a lot of expressions in a few seconds. "I-I mean I'm guessing you're wielding this Sword of Michael because one of your names is Micheal right?"
"Did you make a guess?" I asked him. "Because of my weapon? That's quite an assumption"
Percy nodded. "Yeah. So do you? Do you have Michael, as a name?"
"Yeah. My mum decided to give me an overly long name, thought it would make me sound important," I said remembering what she told me. "It's kind of embarrassing!"
"Well you don't have to tell us if you don't want to," Annabeth stated. "Out of curiosity, how many names do you have?"
"5"
"Seriously?!" Percy said astonished. "You sound like you came from the royal family! Did anyone make fun of you for it?"
"They joked around a little but not too much. What about you, do you have a middle name, Percy?"
Percy shook his head. "It's Perseus or Percy Jackson, no middle name here."
I nodded. "Right, what about your sword? What's it called?"
"Riptide," Percy announced
"Wait...like the song?!"
Annabeth laughed and held Percy by his shoulders. "I've never heard that one before, normally it's Wow, awesome sword "
Percy frowned, "Well I think it sounds great!"
"Just pointing out the reference, your sword does look cool," I replied. "Let's get to training before we waste any more time!"
Percy and I then began sparring. He was good, I guess when you used a sword for 4 years to fight for your life it does make sense why he's so good at with it. He kept on slashing and I countered each attempt. He was strong, like really strong! That's a Son of Poseidon for you! That's his Superpower. He should have applied to the Shadow Hero Academy, after-
Percy disarmed me when I wasn't thinking and held Riptide to my neck. I reflexively willed my Sword back to my hand and in a flash, summoned a second sword. I countered quickly, locking his sword with mine. I twisted counterclockwise, locking his arm and then a takedown after. Percy was on the floor before he could even fathom what happened.
"Sorry, force of habit!" I said hastily. "Here let me get you up!"
Percy looked at me with wide eyes, "That was awesome!"
"Huh?"
"The way you made that second sword appear, that sword lock. Gotta agree with Percy, that was cool," Annabeth said. She was sitting on the stands, playing with her knife. It was a regular knife but I was reminded of Marcel and his Shadow Knife
"Oh right, thanks," I said. I pulled Percy up, his face was still stuck in a grin
"You didn't tell me you have two swords?" he asked. "I thought you had one?"
I chuckled lightly and began to explain. "This isn't mine, this is a friend's. I think he would be pretty angry that I yanked it off him"
I will the sword back to where it came from. The blade was a sword like mine but it was silver in colour with a crossguard of a pair of silver wings. In the hands of its owner, it could expand to a giant blade. I'm sorry Marcel, hope you can forgive me. He would be pretty cranky after I did it so I returned it back to where it came from
Annabeth spoke up. "How can you summon them? Your weapons?"
"Remember how I said I can teleport myself to places I've been before?"
"Yeah?"
"It works both ways, I can bring stuff from the places I've been. As long as I know what it looks like," I explained. "Does that answer your question?"
Annabeth nodded. "So, you know how to fight with two swords?"
"Yeah, I had a good teacher," I replied. "He was the one who taught me how to fight with this." I bring up my sword.
"What could you use a sword against?" Percy asked. "I mean do you guys have monsters too?"
"We-
"Oh, it's you"
I turned to see Clarrise, the same girl who Percy had told me about. She had a headband tied across her forehead and her pale brown hair was a mess of spikes. She was built, reminding of Wonder Woman.
"Um, hi. You must be Clarisse right?" I asked. "Percy told me about you
"Yeah, that's me. You saved everyone in the camp", Clarrise replied, gripping the tip of her spear. "Thanks."
"Yeah, you're welcome. Chiron told me to stay close so I could, you know, help you guys," I gestured. "I'm just taking Percy here through a few moves. He's good!"
Clarrise nodded. "Well, it's nice having you around. No one expected something like that to happen."
"I didn't expect anything like that either. I only came here because Percy wanted a lift. I didn't know there was something even like this," I explained. "All of this is new to me!"
"That man, did you know him?"
"You mean Auras?"
"Yeah, you two seemed to know each other?"
"That's...a long story. He won't be attacking any of you anytime soon. That I made sure of."
"Wow, you're being nice,'' Percy interrupted.
Clarrise gave him a glare, "I'm always nice! I want to train so I can protect the camp. I don't want that to happen again!"
"I see. Your pride is hurt isn't it?" I asked her
Clarrise gaped, "H-how did you know what are you, some kind of mind reader?"
"I've had this happen to a friend before, he moped around because he lost a fight," I replied. "I can tell. If you want me to teach you, I can. I want someone to spar against"
"Do you have a Spear? I can get you one from the armoury?" Clarrise asked.
"There's no need, I can make do with my weapon, see?" I willed my sword to change back into a spear. A flash of crimson red later, I had one. It was almost the same height as me.
Clarrise recoiled, almost stumbling backwards, "You have something like that? That's cool!"
"Thanks, it's a multipurpose weapon," I replied. "Let's start, after all, you did ask me to train you."
Percy's POV
I watched as Kian used his spear against Clarrise. And I gotta say, he was good! Clarrise had a tough time defending against him. The effort clear on her face.
"Keep your footing even!" Kian said as he attacked with his spear. He delivered an aerial attack, trying to slice his target. Clarrise dodged, blocking the ariel attached and she rolled to the side. Kian sharply turned, he swung his spear against his opponent, attacking at the same speed as the last time. She continued defending against Kian's relentless attacks
Clarrise swung her spear, finding a little break but Kian ducked underneath it and swept off her feet with the swing of his scarlet spear. She landed hard against the floor, her breaths hard laboured.
"You'll get better, just keep practising," Kian replied, wiping the bangs out of his sweaty face
Clarrise got up and nodded. "Thanks, I should head off now. Have to train the kids"
Kian's face scrunched up in thought, "Wait, how old are they?"
"Like...erm 7 or 9," Clarrise answered. "Dad does get around"
Kian's eyes flicked with red light, his scarlet eyes full of rage for a split second. It stopped before he spoke"Yeah, I guess so"
"So, are you going to be here for the rest of the summer?" Clarrise asked
"I might show up from time to time. I might not be here all the time," Kian replied. "See ya around, Clarrise."
As Clarrise walked and left. Kian turned to me and Annabeth. "Any of you wanna spar me?"
"I do!", Annabeth said. She drew her knife from her sheath and Kian dropped his head, sighing as he does so. He was beginning to look shiner and exhausted.
"Oh great, come on then. Let's get going", Kian replied. His spear vanished from his hands and he was unarmed, no weapons to defend himself against Annabeth
"What? Aren't you going to fight me with a weapon?" Annabeth asked surprised
"That's what Ares said and you know what happened to him," Kian replied. He got in a fighting stance and so did Annabeth, her knife held in a reverse grip
The spar went on. Kian dodged Annabeth's attacks putting his body in all sorts of positions like he was doing yoga. He attacked with punches and kicks as did Annabeth, both of them blocking each other's attacks.
Kian blocked a kick from Annabeth and finished the fight with a palm to her face. She would've fallen flat on her face but she hovered for a second, and she then dropped. I glanced up to see Kian's eyes glow faintly with magenta, returning to brown just as quickly
"You're a good fighter, didn't know you did Judo," Kian said. He wiped the sweat off his shiny face. The rest of him looked like he ran through a rainstorm. His bangs, now over his forehead like a set of spikes.
I walk over to Annabeth and gently help her up. Annabeth dusted herself off and looked at Kian. "Have you done Judo before?"
"I know a few moves. Kian replied. "I have black belts in Taekwondo and Karate, I'm lucky, I had good teachers"
"Really?!" Annabeth asked, her mouth agape. "How did you find the time for that?!"
Kian chuckled, "I've been training since I was 6."
"Seriously?" I asked. "Did your parents force you to train or something? That sounds intense!"
"What? No of course not! I did it on my own accord. I loved training, I did want to get stronger so I kept training," Kian calmly explained. "It was a lot of fun, never a dull moment."
Looking at Kian, he seemed to be correct. He, like me, was quite muscular. I always thought he did some sort of workout but even then, training since you were a child seems intense.
Annabeth nodded and crossed her arms. "Right. Still, I never knew people like you could exist. It's like something out of a comic book!"
"Yeah, this world is bizarre. Now, it's even weirder with Gods," Kian replied. "Speaking of which, do you know how they exist?"
"I mean you could read a book on it?" Annabeth suggested.
"I already did. It doesn't make sense. I know the Sun is a gigantic ball of superhot plasma in the middle of the solar system, not dragged by Apollo. It's all so confusing!" I explained.
"Well, it's just what it is," Percy replied. "You wanna take a break, you look like you could need it?"
"Oh right. I was up this morning working out. Sorry if I looked slow." Kian replied. "I have got to learn to take it easy"
"You weren't slow, you were pretty fast. Percy's right though, you look like you need a break," Annabeth explained.
"Alright," Kian sighed. "I can take a breather then." His spear vanished in a flash of blue, only to be replaced by a green bottle. He then began to drink it, ignoring me as he drank it down.
"Seaweed Brain, I'll be teaching the Ancient Greek class. See ya," Annabeth kissed my cheek and waved goodbye
"Yeah, see ya Wise Girl" I watched her leave. I turned back to Kian, he had a faint smile on his mouth. "What are you smiling about?"
"Oh, nothing. It's just your pet name: Seaweed Brain?" he asked. "For someone who defeated Kronos, it's not exactly something I was expecting."
I laughed. "Well, she said it as an insult but now I kinda like it"
Kian nodded. "Yeah, you seem to like it. You know, not all teen relationships work out..but I think you two will. Just try not to have too much fun!"
My cheeks and ears burned. "Dude come on! Stop!"
Kian laughed, "Sorry, low hanging fruit, I'll stop. It's just you two...you remind me of some friends I know, they were like that." I could see his expression change, his eyes trembled again and his lips were pursed. I could sense he was holding something back, something painful almost
"Did something happen?" I asked concerned
"Yeah, it didn't work out," Kian said. "We were kind of sad to see it end"
"Oh. Sorry"
"It's okay, it's all in the past now, so don't worry about it," he said. I couldn't help but think of what happened in the throne room. How Aphrodite said she was interested in him like she was with me. Knowing how Kian doesn't like the Olympians, that wasn't good news
"Kian, what Aphrodite said, did it bring up something?" I asked. I remembered the Olympians, shocked after what Aphrodite said, like how they were when his aura turned red. I also felt the temperature drop, almost like it was winter. It was clear to anyone that he was angry, Aphrodite had provoked him.
Kian shook his head. "Something like that. She should learn to not interfere with people's lives!" he clenched his fist.
"She said the same thing to me, about a few years ago," I explained. "She said how she's going to make my love life interesting and I think she did."
"What do you mean?" Kian asked. He sat on the bench, he drank out of the bottle he had in his hand
I proceeded to explain how I met Calypso and Rachel during the past 4 years before I ended up with Annabeth. I finally realised that all this time, she was just jealous because I met them!
Kian laughed. "She's made you a chick magnet, well done."
I laughed too, ignoring the heat from my cheeks and ears. "Even then, I only like Annabeth-and I'm not a chick magnet, come on dude!"
Kian narrowed his eyes, puzzled almost. "Wha-never mind. You have water powers right?"
"Yeah, why?" I asked him
"Try and pull the sweat from me"
"You serious? I haven't done anything like that"
Kian nodded. "Try it, if you beat Kronos then your water powers should be good. Oh, try not to bloodbend me, there's a good chap."
I nodded. "Okay if you say so"
I concentrated my effort on the water of Kian's skin. I thrust my hand out, feeling the tug in my stomach, I pulled the sweat away from Kian's skin. The water all formed into a giant bubble and I then dropped it, letting it hit the grassy ground.
Kian ran his hand through his dry spiky hair, it hung over his face like a mop and was quickly put back into his regular style (A/N: Kian has a similar haircut to Levi from Attack on Titan)
"As I thought, you're a waterbender, Percy!"
"A what?" I asked confused. "Is that a bad word for a son of Poseiden?"
Kian looked surprised. "No of course not-Wait?! you haven't seen it?!"
"Sorry dude, haven't got time for TV"
"Argh-never mind. Please tell me lunch starts soon," Kian asked
I laughed this time, "You know since I have the curse of Achilles, I feel hungry or sleepy most of the time."
"It should boost your strength, speed and stamina right? But you can't create fuel out of nothing, you need food and rest obviously," Kian replied.
"How did you know?!" I asked. "Did Alveus tell you?"
Kian shook his head. "He told me what it does, I figured the rest on my own, given I happen to share the same side effects."
"You do?"
Kian nodded. "My body is built for battle, so I need constant energy to heal and to keep fighting. Lets me eat as much as I want!"
"You sound like an athlete."
"Yeah, I get that. Still, once I unlocked my cosmic power, I wasn't that much of a burden on my school cafeteria," Kian explained
"The what?"
Kian started glowing again, an aura of wispy and blue manifested around him. His skin was almost fairer. His hair stood up slightly and his brown eyes now glowed with a yellow and blue. He gestured to himself, "This is what I like to call Cosmic Power, it's a little...bright"
"What does it do?" I asked, curious about this power
"Well, it's pretty versatile. You can use it to heal people, shoot concussive plasma blasts, fly, make yourself stronger. It's pretty strong in the right hands"
"Cool," I replied
"It is but it's also not that simple, see my body can only handle a certain amount of that power. Like how a car can carry a certain amount of petrol or gas in the States. With training, I can increase that tank limit," Kian calmly explained. "It hurts so much if I try to push past the limit but I get stronger so it's not that bad."
I nodded. "How much of it can you use right now?"
"Between 70-80% normally. 90% if I can push it. If I train as hard as I currently do, I should be able to get it to 100%" Kian explained. "What else do you want to know?"
"So, that blue and yellow energy blast, that was plasma? I know Annabeth said it was some kind of state of matter," I said, trying to remember what it was
Kian turned his palm upwards. A sphere of blue light formed, crackling into life with a yellow glow. "Yeah, something like that. If you need any plasma cutting, let me know." Kian waved his palm and the blue ball disappeared into thin air
I nodded. "If you don't mind me asking, when were you born?"
"August 25th 1992, you?"
"What?"
"I don't know when you were born either, thought it might be fair"
"Right. My birthday is on August 18th, 1993. I didn't know you were born in August, all I knew was you saying you were born at the end of the summer"
"I didn't know it either, I'm almost a year older than you," Kian chuckled.
"Where did you train?" I asked him. "There's no way you learned to do all that on your own"
"School."
I blinked a few times, "Say what?"
"I trained at school."
"What kind of school did you go to? Hogwarts?!" I asked
He laughed. "Well we didn't go there by crashing ourself into a wall, that would just be stupid."
"How did you get there then?" I asked
Kian drank from his bottle. He then looked at me, "I walked."
A moment of silence passed between us. "I was expecting, you know, teleportation, some kind of futuristic transport device."
"We do have those, just not to get to school," Kian said. He drank down the rest of his drink, and in an instant, there was another one.
"What is that?"
"It's chocolate, but..not from around here"
"It's alien chocolate?!"
"Uh-huh, do you want to try some?" he asked. "I have a few bottles of the stuff in my fridge"
I recoiled slightly, "You're not going to poison me are you?"
"Still afraid that I might kill you?" Kian sighed. "I don't blame you, about time I should say this then. I swear on the River-"
"Wait, are you serious?!" I asked him. "That's like a serious oath!"
Kian nodded. "I know what I'm doing. I swear on the River Styx that I won't harm you, physically or mentally. Including the rest of the Campers." Thunder boomed across the camp, signalling the completion of the oath
I glanced back to see Kian holding a green bottle. "Go on, It'll make you feel better". He threw it at me and I caught it
"This won't make me grow an alien inside my chest would it?" I asked, looking at the bottle.
Kian laughed. "No, of course it won't. I promised you I wouldn't hurt you right?"
I opened the cap and drank it down. To my surprise, it tasted sweet and I could feel the energy flowing in my veins. I stopped after I felt full.
"See, what did I tell you, it's good right?" Kian asked
I nodded. "So this is Alien chocolate?"
Kian nodded. "From where it's from, it's the equivalent of eating 5 bananas. I go through a few of those every day, high metabolism means high-calorie intake."
I glanced back at the bottle. "Wow, you can probably get rich from this you know!"
Kian laughed. "Yeah, I could. But I don't, I don't wanna take advantage of it"
I threw the bottle to Kian's side and he caught it sharply. It vanished in a flash of blue just in front of me. "So, anything else you want to ask me about?"
"Um yeah, do you want to head outside? I think I need some air" Percy replied
"Yeah, sure," Kian replied. In an instant, I found myself outside the Sword Training Arena. Kian looked at me, the concern clear in his eyes. "You okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine," I replied. "I just didn't expect it"
"Right," Kian said. He breathed in and out, letting the cool summer air ripple through his spiky black hair. Looking back at the dream I had, Kian shared his dad's hair and his mom's eyes. If I saw him as a baby, why were his eyes that dark magenta colour? did it darken as he got older?
"Kian, if you don't mind asking? What were your parents like?" I asked him, curious about his past and how he was raised. He wasn't a demigod like us, so he would have been raised by both his parents, something which I was a little jealous off.
"Why do you ask?" Kian turned to me
"I mean like how they acted and stuff"
Kian nodded, "Well, Mum always made sure I worked hard and always took care of me. On my birthday, she got me a football-soccer you would say-shirts with a players signature. I still have it back home."
"That sounds nice, what about your dad?" I continued
Kian's eyes darkened before he returned to normal, "Well, mum said I look like Dad a lot. As for how he acted like, he was kind. He was the one who trained me how to fight and always made sure I worked hard, to go beyond my limits, does that answer your question?"
I nodded, "Your parents seem amazing, I wish Dad would have been around more."
Kian's eyes widened in surprise, "What do you mean?"
I explained what happened, how Dad met mom and how she had to marry Smelly Gabe to keep me safe. I explained Annabeth's past too, but not too much. If she wanted to explain it, she would have done so.
After I was done I looked up and saw Kian with a clenched fist. His teeth gritted, almost angry on my behalf, "I'm sorry...this shouldn't have happened to you!", Kian said. "Why do I have to be so lucky?"
"What do you mean?", I asked curiously
"I know someone who went through something like you did, it made me sick to my core, how can someone do something like that to a child?! Both my parents were there for me, they trained me, took care of me and made sure I grew up as normal as I possible," Kian replied
"Sounds amazing. Did your parents, you know, tell you that you were an alien?", I asked
"Yeah, as soon as I could talk. They taught me that people with power should defend those who can't defend themselves, no matter the cost. It's a lesson I still carry with me, ever since I was a child," Kian explained
"You sound like Superman," I quipped
Kian laughed, "I don't have Kryptonite, remember. A friend of mine liked him, she's quite bubbly."
"Is she a demigod?"
"No, she's a..demialien I guess. Half Human, Half Alien"
"Do you guys have a place where you train, I mean what's the name of it," I asked, wanting to know more about Demialiens
"I guess I can tell you, it's called-"
I heard footsteps and then turned around. Annabeth jogged to me, her blonde hair jostling about as she threw her arms around me
"Hey, what's up?" I asked her
"Thalia's here."
A/N: I hope you enjoyed this chapter. If you have any questions about this story, or what you think I could have done better please let me know, I'm always open to criticism and improvement
As for the timeline of events, this story takes place after the events of Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor and just before the events of The Avengers in the MCU.
For the PJO part, this takes place a year after the Last Olympian
Why is there a year in between? Well, the next chapter might answer that. Until the next time. Happy reading!
