"I… failed?" Will repeated to himself as his eyes scanned over the list once more, as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

At first, the rest of Class C didn't even notice the odd one out, but amidst their cheering and celebrating, they noticed the one gloomy hunched over figure. Attempting to create a bridge between the two of them, Vincent rested a hand on the boy's shoulder, "I'm-"

"Don't touch me!" Will flinched back, his skin glowing with an impressive energy. In fact, it was so hot that it nearly gave Vincent burns and it completely incinerated the papers that the man behind him was trying to hand out.

"Hey watch it… kid?" The man stuttered to a stop as he saw Will's mask of pure frustration. "I'll… just go make copies."

"For those few who failed," Sera yawned, "Don't fret. During the month of March, you will be allowed to undergo classes in order to help you correct any mistakes you made. And by the time the make-up test comes in April, you may be even better heroes than those who succeeded the first time around."

"We're actually heroes now." Nikiya said in disbelief.

Kenichi laughed, "Not yet! These are just provisional licenses! We've still got some ways until we can get to being real heroes."

"But still, it's that much closer!" Daidoji chimed in.

Their teacher, who had been oddly absent for most of the exam, popped up behind them, "Well done my little kittens! I'm so proud of my new students!" She said as she gave several of them a bear hug all at once.

They all laughed and pried the all too excited teacher off them.

"Drinks are on me tonight!" She shouted, drawing wide eyed stares from the surrounding students and her own class. "Wait… what's the legal drinking age in Japan again?"

Class C all sighed, far too tired to deal with her antics and got on their bus, groaning with relief as they took their seats in the air conditioned vehicle.

As the steady rumbly of the bus began, many closed their eyes and began to drift off to sleep. Some others, like Hirose, Daidoji, Shizuku, and Okami, as well as the others who fought Miruko, were far too wired to fall asleep. Shizuku in particular was struggling with an extreme headache. Its origin was unknown, but she had a feeling that it had to do with Karkinos.

Nayuki took some painkillers out of his hero costume, his belt was lined with several injections and drugs he could take to help with his Quirk, but of course, nothing could beat good old ibuprofen.

Shizuku downed three of them as she curled into a ball in the corner of her seat and did the best she could to drown out the pain. She closed her eyes and her mind grew drowsy with exhaustion.

She must've only managed a few minutes of sleep, because when she woke up, they still weren't at the school, instead, the bus was in total chaos. Her classmates were rapidly throwing on their costumes, ignoring all gender protocol.

"Wha…?"

"Just stay here Shizu," Sen said as she leapt out the bus's door and took off into the air.

"There's a villain lighting fires up ahead and according to police, the nearest hero is at least fifteen minutes away."

Shizuku blearily rubbed her eyes and tried to force herself to her feet, but Okami pushed her back down, "Stay here. You're in no condition to fight or do rescue." He then looked to Will who wore a heavy scowl on his face, "Keep an eye on her."

Will nodded absentmindedly. Since he was the only one to not receive his license, he couldn't participate in hero work.

Okami jumped out after his friends and ran up to the police barricade, activating his Quirk to show he was a hero, "What's the situation?"

An older looking cop scowled, "We got this, kid. Just get back on your bus."

Okami was taken aback for a moment, he couldn't fathom someone refusing help like that. His mouth flapped like a fish for a few seconds, no noise coming out, so Kaito took that as his cue.

"Listen officer, I mean no disrespect, but we're going whether or not you like it. There are people dying in those buildings." Despite what he said, there was still a heavy edge in his voice.

The older man's face turned beet red and he looked like he was about to scream, but thankfully, a younger officer made his voice heard.

"Sir, I know these kids. They were involved with the Kiryu children during the mall attack."

"Officer Ikari?" Okami was silently thanking the gods for this coincidental encounter.

Unlike Bakugo and Class A, Class C and Endo didn't get a lot of attention during their kidnapping incident. That was mostly due to the swiftness with which it was dealt with. Because of this, it was much more likely that someone knew about the mall attack rather than Chimera Island.

"They are capable, I'm sure of it. They're from UA after all."

The old man growled but nodded all the same, "Fine… but if you screw this up, it's on you."

Kaito and Okami nodded solemnly before jumping to work, their class following close behind.

"Wilhelm and Kaito will handle the villain since neither of them are great with rescue! The rest of us will focus entirely on quelling the fires and getting people out! I want four to five people on each building. Go!"

Wilhelm and Kaito continued on a straight path as the others continued to break off into packs.

Up ahead, the two saw a man wearing a bright yellow outfit drag a screaming woman out of a unlit building. He raised a knife in one hand, preparing to bring it down right on top of the woman's chest.

Wilhelm stopped in his tracks and aimed his index finger like a gun at the man, "Blitzkrieg!" A bolt of white lightning shot from his finger, but this time, his body absorbed into, and traveled with it. The villain had no chance of dodging.

Kenichi, Okami, and Daidoji all leapt out of their separate building simultaneously, several people slung over their shoulders. Nikiya, Sen, Ryouji and Tannin were all on fire control. With Tannin and Ryouji keeping the two buffed, they could effectively used their Quirks to stifle a good majority of the flames, letting in even more of their friends and the actual firefighters. Nikiya and Sen weren't the only ones getting boosted however. Hirose was also running back and forth to Tannin in order to keep her speed going.

All in all, they weren't the best team for fire and rescue, but they were just sufficient enough to keep casualties at zero.

The second the lightning bolt hit the villain, Wilhelm reached out, snatching the knife from his hands as he went flying back from the shock. Thinking that was that, Wilhelm went to help up the woman, but the man in yellow wasn't done just yet.

He stood, his body creaking unnaturally as it pulled itself to its feet. Looking at his chest, Wilhelm could see that underneath his skin was a layer of black steel. Realizing that one bolt wasn't enough, Wilhelm loosed another three bolts in his direction. Unfortunately, it had been a long day and his nerves were fried from the constant usage. Using his Super Moves also hadn't helped matters.

The villain took all three hits without even slowing down as he ran towards the student. Wilhelm grabbed the woman by her collar and desperately pulled her away as the man leapt at them, intending to punch Wilhelm's head off.

"Black Burst!"

Kaito met the villain halfway, his dark blade slamming into his fist, but unbelievably, it was stopped short and the two entered a stalemate of strength. The Black Swordsman had his daggers backing him up, but the steel man had way too much weight behind him, and before long, Kaito felt himself being pushed to his knees.

They had all rushed into the fight, thinking that they knew what they were getting into, but the class was so exhausted from their fights of the day that such simple tasks had been turned into monumental goals.

In a last ditch effort, Kaito clenched every muscle in his body and shouted, "Hundred Fallen Stars!" All at once a hundred of the black daggers manifested above the villain, falling in a vicious arc. Maintaining Black Burst was already a difficult task, so using his other Super Move in tandem caused the edges of his vision to darken. But he placed everything on the one attack.

Back on the bus, Will fidgeted in his seat, "Even Ragdoll gets to help."

It was as he said. Despite having no Quirk, Ragdoll was a hero at heart and was doing her best to assist with the police.

The only response he got was an even louder groan from Shizuku. He started to become concerned. This was no mere headache. He stood from his seat and walked over to the aisle she was in, her curled up body hidden by the seats.

He leaned over to see what was happening and almost immediately flinched back in fear. Her body was in the process of transitioning into Karkinos. "Uh… Shizu… ku?" He went to lay an arm on her armored skin. But just before he could make contact, the girl bellowed out an inhuman roar and literally dove through the side of the bus, tearing through the metal of the vehicle.

Kaito punched at the metal arm holding him by his throat, but to no avail. His daggers had barely fazed the man. A few had lodged in the joints, but the villain only seemed to grow more incensed by that and his grip tightened.

Wilhelm had gone running for help, the woman still in his arms, but Kaito was pretty sure it wouldn't be in time.

"Man… this has… been a pretty… shit day for me." Kaito choked out as he tried stabbing once more at the man's arm, but nothing changed. The only reason he had survived so far was the armor covering his body. But all of that was about to change.

"Ya know," The man said in a rough accent, "I wanted to just choke the life outta you, but I think I'll settle for-" Then, his body was pummeled into the ground by a dark mass.

The shockwave sent Kaito flying back, a dust cloud obscuring his view. From the cloud, a silhouette formed. "Heh heh heh, my apologies for taking so long. My host and I seemed to have a difference of interests, so I had to evolve in order to better handle her concerns."

A single gust of wind scattered the dust, revealing the monstrous shape of Karkinos. Kaito just laughed before slipping into unconsciousness, certain he had seen the monster bow in apology.

Karkinos tilted his head, "Hmm, that's unfortunate." The man beneath his feet stirred, but Karkinos simply smashed his taloned foot on his head once more, "I believe that is enough trouble from you." Just as Karkinos had taken care of the man, police came rushing up with restraints.

The monster stumbled backwards, "Ah… it seems your body is still too exhausted to handle me any longer." He calmly laid himself on the ground and allowed his body to fade back into Shizuku. Like Kaito, Shizuku also passed into unconsciousness as her friends finished up the fire and rescue.

A day after the exam, Class C had a day off. Everyone except for Shizuku, who was still unconscious in her room, and Will, who refused to celebrate with them, was watching with rapt attention as a reporter cheerfully talked over the video of Class C rescuing civilians from several burning buildings.

"-Class C stepped up in a time of need and have proved yet again, that UA high is truly the birthplace of heroes."

The room practically exploded with cheers and they clinked their non alcoholic drinks together.

"TO US!" Kenichi called out.

"TO US!" The class responded.

"Now tell me that we have a long way to go, Kenichi!" Daidoji joked.

The bony student didn't even hear her over the boisterous room, but had he, he certainly would've retracted his earlier statement.

They had missed out on any internships, but now, they had accomplished something that not even Class A or B had done. It was certainly a rough start, but it was a start nonetheless.

The room was so busy that they failed to notice the elevator ding. A haggard and shuffling Shizuku stepped out into the hallway, still unnoticed. "You had to evolve? So then… what does that make you now?"

She continued muttering to herself as she sauntered into the kitchen and began downing water like she had been in a desert for the past couple of days. At that very moment, Ryouji walked in on her, "Eh?! Shizuku?! Hey guys, Shizuku's up!"

The class rushed over, but recoiled as she turned around. Her normally shiny black hair had become a pure white and her eyes, once sparkling blue, were now an ominous glowing red. "Huh? What's wrong?"

MHA: 1-C

The next few days passed in a blur. Shizuku was given a full body examination by Recovery Girl, but they found nothing wrong. If anything, her body seemed healthier than before, but since Shizuku refused to talk about what Karkinos had told her, the secrets of the monster remained with the host.

In other news, Midoriya and Bakugo got into a full on Quirk brawl during the night of the exam and were on house arrest. Class C had been far too tired to wake, even when explosions were going off in rapid succession.

Principal Nezu also had an assembly with the students and to be honest, Class C tuned out most of it. The only thing they really gleaned from it were the words, "Work study?"

Ragdoll practically squealed in excitement as Kaito asked about the announcement. "Oh I remember my first work study! Such gruesome memories!"

"Uh… so what is it?"

"Oh right! Now that most of you have your license, you can perform a more advanced form of the internships that classes A and B underwent." Her smile slightly dimmed, "However, you are at a greater disadvantage because normally you kittens would be using your connections from the internships to get a work study."

The class groaned, "So we're pretty much screwed?"

Ragdoll shrugged nonchalantly, "Depends. I'll do my best to help you guys out, but you're going to need to reach out to anyone you know in the hero business."

Everyone immediately spun to Shizuku, "What's Endo's new number?"

"Uhhh…"
