Hermione Granger hurried through the halls of St. Mungo's hospital, on her way to work. It was a Friday, and Hermione was very thankful for it. She was glad it was the weekend, as she had a special plan in mind tonight. A plan involving her boyfriend, Draco Malfoy. She loved him so truly, so deeply, and she just wanted him to know about it. They had been together for a year.
Hermione was now working as a Healer. Her boss, a young witch named Sarah Harper, was the best boss Hermione could work for. Kind, funny, but most of all good at her job. Sarah had sent an owl to Hermione's office just a few moments ago, which Hermione had received as she'd entered.
Hey Hermione,
Was wondering if we could meet up for lunch this afternoon at about twelve. There's something I want to talk about with you. Please reply with this owl, stating whether you can make this appointment.
Sarah.
PS, it's not work, and I think you'll find I cleared your diary for this.
Hermione grinned as she put down the letter. Typical Sarah. She almost reminded her of her best friend, Ginny Weasley, who was happily engaged to Harry Potter. God, she loved Draco Malfoy so much, and tonight she was going to show him that. Over the last few days, Hermione had walked around with a spring in her step, and appeared to be in a world of her own. Her work colleagues when passing her always smiled at her. This could not be avoided, as she always looked so very happy. She wondered briefly if this was what Sarah wanted to talk about. The fact she looked like she was hardly there, then she dismissed the thought. Sarah had just said it was not work related.
Her job as a healer was going very well indeed and she couldn't be happier. Everyone she worked with liked her and she put all her effort into her job. Then in the evenings, she could go home and be with the love of her life. They would eat dinner together and talk about their days work. Draco was a banker at Gringotts. Then, some nights they would go up to bed and make love, gently and passionately. Hermione didn't know what she'd done to deserve such an amazing man, but she sure as hell was happy for it. Draco had joined the Order shortly before the final battle and for a while, no one trusted him. He had needed to take a lot of truth telling and interrogation potions before people accepted that he truly had changed sides. It hadn't taken long at all for Hermione to fall head over heels in love with him.
The battle had been quick, with hardly any losses. Harry had actually been able to take Voldemort down with relative ease. A lot of students had left Hogwarts, but the Weasley's who remained, Harry, Hermione and Draco had all returned to Order headquarters. Draco had not been sorry as he had watched his parents fall. They deserved it. Death eater fanatics. Draco was glad that he was at last free to move on with his own life. Hermione smiled as she thought about this, as she headed for her first appointment of the day. A young woman with a beautiful wedding ring on her finger who was pregnant, and wanted a check-up. Hermione chatted happily with her as she examined the baby with her wand. "In love, are you? I can see it all over your face. I'm just the same about my husband, we've been married for a year, and I still have the glow you do. The spring in my step and the feeling that I'm the luckiest woman in the whole world." Hermione completely knew how she felt, as she smiled back at her young patient.
"Well, you can tell your husband that the baby is fine, perfectly healthy. I think you have reached the stage where we can just about tell. I'm pretty certain you're going to have a beautiful daughter."
The woman squealed with delight and hugged Hermione tightly. "Oh, a daughter, that's what we've always hoped our first child would be! Thank you, Miss Granger."
"No problem, any trouble, you know where we are." The woman nodded and left, practically skipping out of the door.
Hermione looked after her, still smiling. One day, she hoped that would be her and Draco. She had a few more appointments before her lunch with Sarah and they all went buy just as smoothly. Nothing could destroy the mood she was in that day. She could hardly wait for that night. Draco wouldn't know what had hit him. If she thought she knew what Sarah wanted to talk to her about at lunchtime, she was in for a big, but one of the best surprises of her life, when she knew how wrong she was.
At about five to twelve, Hermione left her office and headed down towards the main dining hall in St. Mungo's. She was starting to feel very curious now as to what her boss could want with her. Just as she reached the doors, she saw Sarah coming towards her. Her boss looked up and smiled.
"Hey, Hermione. Thanks for agreeing to this. You won't regret it." The two witches shook hands. "No problem, Sarah. Shall we go in?"
Hermione was about to enter the dining room, when Sarah suddenly touched her arm. "Actually Hermione, seen as this is not work related, was wondering if you'd like to go out somewhere for lunch. We have an hour."
Hermione smiled at her boss, who was also her friend. "Sure, where?" Sarah took her arm and led her out of the hospital over to the apparition point. Grasping Hermione's arm gently, they turned on the spot and vanished.
When the feeling of compression decreased, Hermione looked up and smiled. They were standing outside a homely cosy looking pub. Sarah pushed open the door and they walked in. A thick white carpet covered the floor and the room was lit by pretty lamps hanging from the ceiling. Soft leather sofas with low tables were dotted around the room and pop music played quietly from speakers in the ceiling. A waiter in a suit and tie approached them. "Good afternoon, ladies, table for two?"
Sarah smiled and nodded at him and he led them over to a secluded table right at the back. He told them he would be back shortly to take their food and drink orders, said his name was Mark, then left. Hermione couldn't help but smile as she looked at the menu. This was obviously a completely Muggle pub, so Hermione was glad she'd taken off her healer's robes for her lunch break as had Sarah and both ladies were wearing jeans and sweaters. "This is on me, Hermione. I am paying the bill and no objections. I said I needed to talk to you, so it's only fair."
"Are you sure?" Hermione questioned her boss and friend. Again, Sarah just smiled.
"Perfectly. Have whatever you like to eat and drink."
"Thanks," said Hermione quietly. She could not stop smiling. Could her happiness get any better that day? The answer was, yes, it could. She glanced through the huge menu and finally settled on a chicken and mushroom pie, with mashed potatoes, gravy and vegetables. Sarah stuck to fish and chips. Hermione decided she'd have a nice hot pot of tea to drink. Sarah took to orange juice. When their food and drink had been set in front of them and Mark had stepped away, Sarah spoke.
"So, Hermione. Do you know why I asked to talk to you today?"
"No," Hermione replied truthfully. "I'll be honest, until I saw the bit in your letter that said it wasn't work related, I was nervous."
Sarah smiled. "That's why I put that there, so you would not worry."
"Thanks," said Hermione, grinning.
"Well, Hermione. Your colleagues and I have been looking at you over the last few months. We all can see your head over heels in love, and I just get the feeling by the way you've been smiling all day, that you have something planned for tonight. Am I correct? If so, if you'll pardon me being nosey, does it include a man?"
"Wow, Sarah. You're sharp. But of course I don't mind telling you. I am so in love it almost hurts, and does it include a man? Does it ever!" Sarah smiled again.
"I thought as much. It's just, because I consider you a friend, and I hope you do me, was wondering if I could help in the romance department?"
Hermione's smile grew if possible, even wider. Of all the things she had expected, it certainly wasn't this! "Well, I had ideas, but thanks, I so could take you up on that!" Sarah nodded. "Well, tonight, I just wanted to show him how much I love him. He's everything to me. He knows everything about me, and he's just, so amazing. I just, want to tell and show him how much I care. Also, um, I was thinking about, you know, popping the question."
"I thought so," said Sarah quietly. "Well, all of us on your team want to help you. We have a gift for you, as you are such a good worker." Hermione blushed, as Sarah put a hand into her bag, which had obviously been magically shrunk and brought out a box about the size of a shoe box. Hermione gasped as Sarah opened it. It contained the most beautiful white dress she had ever seen, with gold running all the way through it.
"Oh my God, Sarah..." Sarah handed the box to Hermione. "We also have brought you these," she said, pulling out another box. Inside this one which was small, black and leather, was the most beautiful pare of gold heart shaped earrings Hermione had ever seen, with little diamonds in the middle. They sparkled very brightly as Sarah held them up to the light. Hermione gasped again.
"Oh my God, you you shouldn't have..."
"Wear those tonight Hermione, and Draco will fall over. Yes, we all know his name is Draco Malfoy, that man was a hero in the final battle." "He sure was, murmured Hermione quietly. "I are you sure? They're so gorgeous..."
"They're yours, Hermione. Use them tonight." Hermione stood up and hugged her boss and friend tightly. "Thank you, so much."
"You deserve happiness, Hermione. If Draco makes you happy, you deserve him. I know what it's like to be happily in love. As you know, I'm married. So believe me, I know. Also, how about writing Draco a letter? Not telling him what you're doing, but telling him he needs to be at home at a certain time and not before or after. Also, buying him something to where?"
Hermione grinned. "I would so love him in a suit and tie tonight, with aftershave, you have no idea..." Sarah grinned. "The Muggleborn coming out in you, I love it! Fine, I'll help you with that too." As Sarah had insisted on paying for lunch, Hermione had a lot of cash on her, as Draco had given her some from their vault just the night before.
Every morning, Draco would bring her up a hot cup of sweet tea, and awake her with a kiss before he left for work. She would follow shortly after him. Sometimes, he would apporate with her to work and leave her outside the main entrance. He was so sweet and loving. Hermione's heart nearly flipped out of her chest every time she thought about the little things he'd do for her. Which seemed small but to her were amazing. After Hermione had finished her pie, at Sarah's insistence, she ordered a nice big chocolate sundae. With chocolate brownies, ice-cream, little chocolate sweets and whipped cream. "Thank you, Sarah." Hermione said, as Sarah paid the bill to Mark, who smiled as they walked out the door. "That was lovely."
"You're welcome, Hermione. Now, we still have 20 minutes, you up for some shopping?" Hermione smiled at her boss. Of course, she knew Draco's exact clothes size. So without a problem, she bought him an expensive black pin-striped suit, with a white shirt and grey silk tie, with a platinum tie pin.
"I need to get him some shoes, too." So they went into a smart shoe shop just over the other side of the road and Hermione bought Draco a pair of expensive shiny black leather dress shoes. She then purchased a very expensive bottle of aftershave, the smell of which was intoxicating. Finally, she bought him a very smart black leather suitcase, with the initials DM engraved on the front on a silver plaque. She took all the prices off the clothes and tie pin, and put it all neatly into the suitcase. It was a perfect fit. The tie pin was in a black leather box. She placed the aftershave in a small plastic bag, which she also placed in the suitcase. "I've just got one more thing though; I want to get him an engagement ring. I know men don't always where one, but..."
"Nice. Popping the question, and giving him a ring. Hermione, Draco won't know what's hit him! "Sarah smiled and they headed into a duellers. There, Hermione bought Draco a gold band, with a flat top. Then, Sarah discreetly waved her wand, so that the flat top had the initials DM, HG engraved on it. Hermione took the small velvet box and tucked it into her bag. Sarah had also quietly magically shrunk the dress box and the suitcase, so Hermione could tuck them into her handbag along with the earrings. Just as they were heading back into St. Mungo's with Hermione's money bag considerably lighter but with a huge smile on her face, Sarah sprang her last surprise.
"Hermione, the only reason we're going back in here is so you can grab your coat. You have the rest of the afternoon off, I think you need it, don't you?" Hermione felt as though her very heart was about to burst through her chest. As they entered, all of Hermione's team were waiting for her and they were all smiling at her. "Have a nice weekend, Hermione!" Yelled one of her colleagues. Sarah took Hermione's coat off her chair, and gave her a gentle push towards the door. Hermione couldn't stop grinning. "Thank you so much. I love you all to bits. I'll owe you someday." They all smiled. "Just a wedding invite will do, Hermione." Sarah grinned. All the rest of the team nodded. "No problem!" Said Hermione happily, as she headed out the door. "As long as he says yes, that, you can rest assured, I will do!"
As Hermione headed towards her house, she suddenly started feeling like a little child all over again. Nervous as hell and could not stop grinning. As soon as she got in, she put her magically shrunk bag on the table and grabbed a piece of parchment and a quill.
Dearest Draco,
Would it be possible for you not to come home until 7 tonight? I know Gringotts would welcome the overtime, and so would you! Darling, I need to talk to you, but… Here, she stopped. She needed an excuse, and fast. She had to stop and think for a full 30 seconds, before it came to her. But Ginny has asked me for some girl alone time, and I promised I would. I hope you don't mind? Also... Then a mischievous grin spread across her face. When you get home, would you mind going straight upstairs encase we're still talking? I really don't want to push you out, but I want to respect Ginny's wishes. Do you mind? Please write back if for some reason you can't do this, and please could you reply as quick as you can? I love you so much, and thank you, Hermione XXX. She then sent the letter off with their owl. For the next 20 minutes, she waited nervously for Draco's reply. What if he couldn't do it? Then, her heart nearly stopped as she saw the owl come back through their window.
Dearest Hermione, I have absolutely no problem at all with what you ask. I will not interrupt you, and will be home at 7. Missing you and can't wait to see you for the weekend. Love Draco XXX.
Hermione squealed out loud with delight, then, after skipping around the room for two minutes, set to work. She had been given 4 hours, and she intended to use them. Tonight, would be a night Draco Malfoy would never forget. A full two hours later, Hermione still did not feel she was ready. Hell, she didn't feel she'd ever be ready. Her and Draco were not living in Malfoy Manner; they were living in a beautiful two-story house, which was just across the road from the Leaky Cauldron. Draco had bought it shortly after the final battle. Hermione had previously lived in a small flat, but when Draco had asked her to move in with him, Hermione had been thrilled. Their house had one door from the hallway next to the front door leading into the lounge, and another one leading into the dining room and a door from there into the kitchen. Hermione had used magic, but she had also used Muggle methods to get the dining room looking just the way she wanted it to. She'd gone up to hers and Draco's bedroom and laid his suitcase on their king-size bed. Then, on top of it, she'd placed a letter.
Sweetheart, would you mind getting changed and using the aftershave? I would love it if you would. Everything, including the suitcase is a gift. Thanks, See you in a few minutes. Love you, Hermione XXX.
Her heart was pounding with excitement, even though she knew she still had two hours. The one question still was, how was she going to pretend to be talking to Ginny? In the end, she simply decided she'd stand in the lounge and close the door. She would get changed first, and then, when she was sure Draco had come down, would open the door and stand in the hallway. Eventually, the meal was complete. She'd done a pasta dish, with garlic bread. Candles were placed all around the table. She would light them just before Draco arrived. She had done a beautiful homemade chocolate cake for dessert. At 6PM, Hermione finally went upstairs to take a shower. At half 6, she emerged from the shower and pulled on the beautiful dress. It was a perfect fit. She then placed the earrings in her ears and looked at them sparkle in the mirror beside the bed. She looked stunning. Just as Sarah had said. At 10 to 7, she went downstairs, entered the dining room and lit the candles. Then, she entered the lounge and closed the door. Her heart was thumping out of her chest; she didn't think she had ever been more nervous in her life.
Then, she knew the time had come. Suddenly, she heard their front door open. She remained still, not moving. Draco must have seen the closed door, right? She hoped he'd go upstairs as she asked. She heard the door close and then Draco's footsteps on the stairs! Hermione could not help but draw in a gasp. God, she was nervous. She remained in her seat for about 10 minutes. Suddenly, she heard it. Draco's feet on the stairs. Quietly, she stood up, and opened the lounge door and took her place in the hallway. Draco was getting closer. She stood where she was, and looked up. Yes, there he was, fully suited and she could smell his aftershave already. Suddenly, he saw her. He stopped dead and his jaw dropped. Hermione took a step towards him and put her arms tight around his neck. She'd also put on some of the perfume Draco had bought her. Draco just stared at her, unable to speak.
"Hermione," he breathed finally. "You look, so beautiful..." Hermione just smiled. She leant into him and took his lips with her own in a gentle and passionate kiss.
"Draco Malfoy," she said straight into his ear. "I have a surprise for you. Thank you for going along with me so far, you'll love it. Hello, Mr. Hansom. God, you look damn sexy."
"Hermione, thank you so much for the clothes and aftershave, but what…" Hermione silenced him with a tender kiss and affectionately reached up to straighten his tie pin. Quietly, she locked the front door. "It's us tonight, Draco." She murmured, feeling herself go dizzy. God, she loved this man, and tonight she was going to make damn sure he knew it. "You and I." They kissed again. Draco was still staring at her, as if he couldn't believe his eyes. Eventually, she looked at him and whispered in his ear. "Close your eyes Draco, please?"
Draco smiled at her, and then did as she asked. Hermione gently took his hand and led him through into their dining room. She pulled him close against her and still with his eyes closed, kissed him long and passionately. Their tongues danced by candle light. Draco, I love you," Hermione whispered into his ear. "I love you so, so much, and this night is for you, for us. I have so much I want to tell you, please, don't speak. Open your eyes." Draco did so, and drew in a breath, holding Hermione tightly.
The dining room looked spectacular. Candles were all around the edges of the table, the biggest one in the middle. They were all lit. Two chairs were at each end of the table, so two people could sit opposite. Hermione had used magic on the chairs so they were beautifully decorated with gold carvings. The wood was shining. A laminated card was in front of each place, next to gleaming cutlery and shining gold plates and glasses. One card said DM, the other said HG/HM. Soft gentle music played from a stereo system that Hermione had placed on a small table in the corner. Just as Hermione had asked, Draco didn't say a word, nor did he move, he just stood there, staring around the room but his eyes always returned to her. Hermione kissed him again. Quietly, she took his hand again and led him to his chair. She was the one who pulled out his chair for him. Draco took his seat, as Hermione gently straightened his jacket. Quietly, she went around to her side of the table and sat down. Her earrings sparkled in the candle light. She raised her wand, causing the pasta dish, garlic bread and a bottle of white wine to float gently onto the table. She leant across the beautiful table and picked up Draco's plate. She served him up his pasta and placed it in front of him. Hermione really didn't want him to speak; she just wanted him to see how much she loved him. She opened the wine, and pored some into his shining gold glass. She raised her glass to him. Draco followed suit. "I love you, Draco Malfoy, so much. Here's to us." They clinked glasses and drank.
They picked up their cutlery and started to eat. The pasta was delicious. Hermione was really proud of herself. Draco obviously enjoyed it. However, when he made to pick up his plate to get more, Hermione got there first. She also refilled his glass. Even though they were eating in complete silence, the love in the air was almost touchable between them. Eventually, they had finished the pasta and garlic bread, and Hermione caused the beautiful chocolate cake to float onto the table, after returning the dinner dishes, sparkling clean, back onto the counter. Again, she refilled his glass, and served him his cake. The whole meal passed with not a word being exchanged. Draco kept looking at her with such love blazing in his eyes that Hermione just wanted to melt right there. Eventually, they had both finished the meal. Hermione returned the clean dishes to the cupboards with a wave of her wand, and then stood up. Draco followed. Quietly, she asked him to close his eyes once more. Draco did so. Hermione took him close and led him from the dining room into the lounge, which she had also decorated. This was it. It was time. Part two of her surprise had begun.
"Draco," she whispered finally, "open your eyes, darling." Draco did so, and held Hermione close against him leaning in to kiss her. Again, their tongues met. The rest of the furniture in the lounge had been pushed against the back wall. A black leather sofa and a glass coffee table were in the centre. The lighting was provided by a beautiful oil lamp Draco had bought her once, which was resting on the table. The soft music floated in from the dining room. Quietly, Hermione led him to the sofa. They sat down and instantly, entered each other's arms.
"Draco," said Hermione quietly. All I'm asking here; is please will you listen to me? I have so much I want to tell you tonight." Without a word, Draco gently pushed Hermione's head onto his shoulder, and tightened his arms around her to pull her as close as he could. The smell of his aftershave was driving her crazy and she couldn't wait for how she'd planned this night to end.
"Draco Malfoy," Hermione began, feeling her heart speed up. Draco must have felt it, but he simply held her tight, as she snuggled her head into his neck. "You must know how much I love you by now, don't you? You must know how much you mean to me. Draco, you know my past. You know everything there is to know about me. You know me better than Harry and Ron. Draco, I only have to hear your voice and I go crazy. Feel your kiss and I'm in paradise. When you make love to me, I feel as if I'm a queen. You are the king of my heart, I don't ever want to even dream of imagining life without you, ever. If I ever lost you, I would die. Draco, if it came to it, I would give my life for you. I would do anything for you. You want or need anything from me, you only have to ask, and I hope you understand that. Draco Malfoy, before I met you, my life seemed like it was good, but I always knew there was something that was not right. Something that was making my life not entirely complete. For a long time, I thought I was fooling myself. I thought I'd never find true love. I thought true love was for dreamers, fools. But you showed me how wrong I was. You've never abused me, never hurt me and every time I try and tell you how much I love you, there are just no words to do this with. I love you Draco Malfoy, with my heart, body and soul. Draco, you don't need to have a speech planned, you don't even have to answer, and you know exactly what to do to make me feel so special, so loved. You only have to be here. I just wish I had words to tell you how amazing you are, but I just, don't. You are so kind, so gentle and so patient. You completely understand me and if I'm struggling with something, or am hurting or upset, you are so supportive, you are always there. When I realized that I'd made the memory charm too strong and my parents would be better off in Australia, at least until someone more expert can lift it, sure, it hurt and who was there to support me? You, Draco Malfoy. I have a lot of dreams; you have told me you'd love to fulfil every one of them. I love telling you them, even if I think they're childish. I have one I've never shared before, but tonight, I want to. I'd love to be held by you on a perfectly still evening, under a clear, starry sky."
Now, Hermione's heart was thumping faster than ever with excitement and nerves. This was it. She got to her feet. Draco made to follow her, but she gently pushed him back into his seat. Slowly, not caring that they were only in their living room, as there was nowhere else she'd rather be as long as it was with him, she sank to one knee on their carpet. "Draco Malfoy, please, will you marry me?" She released him with one arm, to pull the small velvet box from the ground where she'd placed it next to the table. Quietly, she opened it.
Still not speaking, Draco extended his left hand. Hermione thought she was going to cry with happiness, as she pulled the ring from the box and placed it on his finger. He stood up, and pulled her gently to her feet, and tight against him. "Yes," he whispered. "Yes, my darling Hermione. There's nothing I'd like more. However, you appear to have beaten me to the punch." He reached into his jacket pocket and also pulled out a leather box. He opened it. Hermione gasped. The ring was platinum, with a Princess cut diamond set into it. As they kissed, he slipped the stunning ring onto her finger, then brought their hands together.
"Oh Draco, I love you so much, Draco Malfoy!"
I love you too, Hermione Malfoy," he whispered, as they returned to the sofa.
Then, they started to kiss, gently, lovingly. Their tongues danced softly, as Hermione pushed against him, wanting to be as close as she could. She didn't think she could wait much longer. She wanted to make love to him, but she also didn't want either of them to speak anymore. Suddenly, still kissing her, Hermione felt Draco's arms gently tighten around her and he lifted her from the sofa. Hermione leant her head into his shoulder, and completely relaxed. Again without speaking, Draco started to slowly walk. He carried her from the living room and up the stairs. It was now eight PM. He carried her into their room and set her on her feet. He quietly closed the door. He approached her slowly and took her into his arms. Now it was Hermione who couldn't speak, as Draco gently and lovingly began to remove the beautiful dress from her body. Hermione reciprocated with his suit. Gently, Draco removed her beautiful earrings and placed them in her jewellery box on her dressing table. He pulled their bed covers back and lifted her into bed, joining her and taking her close. "Until the sun comes up, Draco..." Was all Hermione could whisper.
Draco started to kiss her gently, and she completely surrendered to him. His lips moved from hers to her neck, then to the spot on her throat which always made her go crazy. This time was no exception. She squirmed at his touch. He gently lowered his mouth down her body, not missing an inch of skin. He kissed her like she was made of china. He stopped at her breasts and began to gently suck her nipples. Draco knew exactly where to touch her, where to lick her and every move to make. They had made love so many times; he knew just how to please her. Hermione did exactly what Draco loved, and their foreplay was slow and gentle. It was therefore two hours later when Draco finally moved to lie on top of her. Gently, he took her against his chest, and pushed into her. Hermione gasped in pure ecstasy, calling out his name softly. Their pace was slow and it was sensual and romantic. It was the best night Hermione had ever had in her life. They made love three times, seemingly unable to stop. Eventually, Hermione snuggled up against him, as he held her tenderly close to him.
Saturday morning dawned; the day was warm and bright. There was not a cloud in the sky. When Hermione woke up, the first thing she felt was Draco tenderly holding her close, her head was on his shoulder. Automatically, she snuggled against his neck and kissed it gently.
"Good morning, darling." He said, gently leaning in to kiss her lips.
"Good morning, gorgeous," Hermione replied, raising her head to sink deeper into his kiss.
"Hermione," he said quietly. "Thank you so much for last night, it was perfect. You really touched my heart. Quite the romantic, aren't you?" Hermione smiled at him. "Darling, I have to head out for a while, but I'll send you an owl when I'm back, ok?"
"Anything I can help with, darling?"
Draco smiled and kissed her, their tongues touching briefly. "Thank you, Hermione. But I'm ok."
Hermione smiled at him. "Ok. If you need help..." Draco cut her off by kissing her. He was just about to get up, when suddenly Hermione spoke.
"Draco?"
Draco turned to look at her, smiling. Hermione really wanted him to do it again. She loved him and she loved the way he did it to her.
"Yes, darling?"
Without a word, Hermione pulled him back in to bed. He made no objection, just snuggled close to her, taking her lips in a kiss. "Make love to me, please?" She murmured into his ear. Draco didn't reply, they just continued kissing. Draco began to pay careful and loving attention to every part of Hermione's body. Just as he'd done the night before. Before long, he'd entered her and they were making love.
"I love you so much, Draco Malfoy," Hermione said quietly, as they lay in each other's arms.
"I love you too, Hermione Jane Granger, soon-to-be Malfoy," he whispered back.
About 15 minutes later, they got up and shared a shower. Draco dressed in jeans and a shirt, Hermione in jeans and a sweater.
"Alright, darling," Draco said as they reached the front door. "I'll send you an owl when I'm home, alright? If you're heading out too."
"Sure, Draco," Hermione replied, kissing him. She certainly knew where she was going. Sarah's house." If anyone deserved a thanks, it was her boss. As Draco disapporated, Hermione closed and locked the door and then did the same. She knew that Sarah was an early riser, which suited her just fine today. Sure enough, as soon as she rang the bell, it opened and there she was.
"Hey, Hermione!" Sarah hugged her. "Come in! I want to hear everything if you want to tell me!"
Hermione smiled widely at her boss as she entered the house. Sarah's husband, Mark, was sitting in an armchair by the window. Hermione had always got on very well with him. He was a Muggle, but it could not have been clearer that he and Sarah were very happy indeed. He looked up and smiled as she entered.
"Hey, Hermione. How are you?"
"Good thanks, Mark. How are you?"
"Very well, thank you." Hermione shook his hand. Sarah re-entered with a tray of tea and cakes.
"So, Hermione!" Sarah said excitedly, as she took her seat. "How did it go!" Hermione smiled widely at her boss. "It was the best night of my life! Thank you so much for that dress, it's so gorgeous, you should have seen Draco's reaction! He was speechless!" Sarah grinned. "I told you so."
"I told him so much, I poured my heart out to him and oh gosh he was so romantic! We had the perfect meal and he hardly said a word, he just listened. He was so amazing!"
Sarah smiled at her friend and colleague. "So, come on! Did you pop the question? Tell me!" Hermione smiled at her bosses excitement. "Yes, I did, and he said I'd beaten him to it!" She held up her hand, showing the beautiful ring. "Oh, my gosh!" Sarah Gushed. "That is so gorgeous!"
"It is, isn't it?" Hermione's voice cracked with emotion.
"I'm really happy for you, seriously. You'll have to tell us all about it at work on Monday. Unless we see you sooner."
"Probably not, but I'll certainly tell you guys Monday! I don't want to say what was said obviously, but sure. You guys deserve to know at least some, that dress and those earrings were perfect!" Hermione stayed for 3 hours at Sarah's; they had a really nice lunch. Sarah listened with amusement as Mark and Hermione happily disgust the Muggle world. Sarah, having never grown up with Muggles thought it was fascinating. She was a pure blood.
At three, Sarah suggested they went and did some Saturday afternoon shopping. Hermione enthusiastically agreed. Mark smiled as they walked out the door. As the town centre wasn't very far away, they didn't have far to go. Hermione followed Sarah around all sorts of clothes shops and accessories stores, smiling at her boss's obvious excitement at Muggle merchandise. Sarah didn't actually buy anything, so Hermione couldn't help wondering why she'd asked to go. But Hermione didn't mind. She supposed it was just to see the Muggle world a little. At 5 when the shops started to close, Hermione and Sarah headed back to her house. As soon as they got in, Mark handed Hermione a box and a letter. Hermione gasped as she opened first the letter and then the box.
My dearest Hermione granger. Malfoy, to be.
I was wondering if you would kindly change into what is in the box, and come home for 7PM. Tonight, it is my turn to have a surprise for you. I love you always, see you tonight. Can't wait, Draco. XXX.
Hermione gasped as she opened the box, speechless for a few seconds. Inside, was a pure white gown. It had little diamonds around the neck and sleeves and a short train at the back. "What the..." Hermione breathed. "This looks almost like a wedding gown..."
Sarah just smiled.
You know where the bathroom is, Hermione." Now it was Hermione who could not speak, as she ran upstairs to change. Sarah also helped her arrange her hair, so it was quarter to seven by the time she was done. Hermione hung around for ten minutes, before disappearing back to her house. The door was unlocked and she opened it and entered. She was about to call out Draco's name, when she stopped dead. A trail of the most gorgeous flowers Hermione had ever seen, seemed to be leading through into the kitchen, towards the back door. There was a note on the wall where the trail started. Follow me.
Hermione began to follow the flower trail leading through the dining room, out into the kitchen, and towards the back door. Her heart seemed to stop in her chest. There he was. Draco. He was in the suit she'd bought him yesterday and he was holding his broomstick. She could also smell his aftershave. She was about to speak, when Draco got there first and what he said silenced her completely. "Now, Hermione, it's your turn not to speak. Just take my hand, close your eyes, and trust me."
