"What in the hell was that!"
To say that Matt was furious was a possible understatement, as his eyes shot towards his brother.
"Matt, please, not—"
"How could you not respond?" Making his way over while ignoring Mimi's statement, the two brothers stood face to face.
"Look, there was nothing that could have been done."
"Oh, really – your partner could have gone Ultimate and we would have whooped Daemon as easy as everyone else."
Too much in his actions did Matt fail to notice his finger sharply pointed towards Patamon, huddled within TK's arms.
"Get that away."
As the youngster beckoned his brother to step back, it was his partner that came to assist.
"Matt, I fought you once, and I'll do it again – please calm down for the sake of the group!"
Looking down at Gabumon, standing to his right, Matt sneered. "That time was completely different."
"…Well, maybe it was, but that won't stop me from doing it again."
The reptile-like critter showed no mercy as he was readying to pounce. Not wanting to take this more personal than it was, Matt sighed deeply.
"Fine – what's next?"
All eyes fell towards Tai, currently making his way over to a friend in need.
"Go home; as of now, no threats are—"
"I'm being serious, Tai. Daemon will come back here – we know his motives. If you want those that need to be protected to be actually well off, we need to think of something now."
"I understand, but if you think he is going to turn right around and surprise us, you have another thing coming."
"Everyone is broken. Why not go for it?"
"…What are you trying to imply?"
Matt turned his attention towards the response, who turned out to be Sora.
"Think about it," he said, "is anyone here ready to fight Daemon when he returns? If not, why wouldn't he return on short notice?"
"Look," she replied, moving closer, "I get what you are saying but..."
Once she was face to face with Matt, her eyes shot towards the back, looking at Kari in the distance.
"There are some things that happened during our battle," Sora whispered, "and I know that everyone is not ready. We can't take the risk – we'll be dead if we stay around here. Please, listen to Tai, head home, and rest."
Matt shut his eyes and made himself lost in ponder.
'She is right, and he is right…it probably is foolish to think of this whole surprise…'
Opening his eyes, Matt said, "Okay, we can rest. We all need to leave here so as not to look—"
"Noriko!"
Tempers came close to flaring as Davis cried to his friend – still in the same position, in the same critical condition – as he bolted over with his partner in his arms.
"Let's get moving."
With that, Matt turned towards Gabumon and after a short nod, the duo started to retreat back home.
Tai overlooked the scene unfolding before him and turned towards the rest.
"Everyone, please make your way home as quickly and quietly as possible. We will discuss what needs to happen tomorrow at the earliest."
One by one, each pair started to leave, each with their own thoughts and feelings – Davis was one of the only ones to remain.
"Hey…are you okay?"
He can see her eyes fluttering and her breath returning to normal.
"I'm…I'm fine. I need to head home."
As Noriko tried to stand on her own, the condition that she was in made it nearly impossible; before she could topple to the pavement, Davis grabbed a hold of his friend.
"Hey – this isn't going to be easy, so—"
"Davis."
Turning his attention towards his name being called, he found TK and Patamon approaching the two.
"Listen," TK said, "you and Noriko need to…well, not to be rude, but—"
"I get it, but she…she needs my help."
"…I said you and her together, right?"
Davis blinked before sheepishly smiling, "You did…I'm sorry, it's that—"
"No, I understand."
TK turned his attention towards Noriko. "He'll take care of you."
"I…I know he will," she replied, "I mean, he has done a lot for me so far."
"Wait, what about me?"
The group of humans looked down towards Veemon, standing on the ground, with feelings of glum starting to overtake him.
"You don't need to worry."
TK was quick to respond to the dragon as he knelt down beside him.
"We can take you home and make sure you get back to Davis's once everything calms down."
"You would do that?"
A solid nod was all that Davis needed to see.
"Well, thanks – you be good, okay?"
Veemon looked at his partner and gave a simple thumb up. "Don't worry, I'll be fine."
With a small smile, Davis turned towards Noriko, asking, "Are you ready?"
Another nod was all he needed for the two to proceed to the girl's complex, leaving TK alone with his partner and his own partner.
"Well, we ready to head back?"
"I sure am," Patamon replied, looking down towards the dragon, "like TK said, you don't need to worry."
"I know, but…"
Veemon bit his lip as he tried to walk, but the wincing that came from his facial expression made TK knelt down once more.
"Here."
With outstretched arms, the boy lifted the bruised Digimon off the pavement.
"Wow," TK said in surprise as he hoisted Veemon once again, "your kind of…well, heavy."
"I know," the dragon replied as he wrapped his arms around the boy's neck, "I get that a lot from Davis."
"Well, you don't need to take that the wrong way," he responded as they made their way back home, "I have Patamon on my head for the majority of the time, so I don't have that feel of carrying someone."
"Why not a basketball – that counts as something, right?"
"…You're a little bit heavier than an ordinary round ball."
Veemon scowled. "Okay, well what about those bigger balls? Like, what those big—"
As they turned the corner, TK saw a flash of headlights, close to blinding him, going along with a blast from a horn doing more startling to him.
"TK!"
After adjusting his sight, he saw his mother waving her arm from outside the rolled-down window in her car.
"Well…hi, what are you—?"
"I'm here to get you, now come on!"
No time went to waste as the boy made his way into the vehicle, strapping himself in and allowing the Digimon a chance to roam towards the back seats.
"Buckle in."
"…But how do we—"
"Never mind."
Without a second to protest, Nancy quickly performed a simple K turn as she made her way back home.
"Everyone okay back there?"
"Yep!" Patamon chimed in.
Adjusting her rear-view mirror, Nancy caught a small glance at Veemon, who stared out of the window.
"Well, I see someone new here."
"Oh, yeah – Mom, that's Veemon; he's Davis's partner, and he'll be joining us for the night as there was something urgent that came up—"
"Say no more," the elder responded, "we'll be happy to have him."
As the dragon continued looking out and seeing the passing street lamps illuminating the night, he took a second to look at the woman and said, "Oh, well, thank you"
After that, he went back to the lights, and into his own mind.
'I was so stupid for getting close into battle with Daemon! I should have listened; everything would have been better off because then I wouldn't have—'
He quickly turned towards the bat-like critter, currently observing the surrounding outside his window. Mentally sighing, Veemon closed his eyes, only to open them once again.
'I can't shake it.'
No matter what he did, he couldn't etch the look that Gatomon gave as the two stole glances while being comforted during the confrontation. She seemed lost and in a daze, something that he hasn't seen in her yet. Not knowing what to do, and how to react, made his current situation only worse.
'Oh, stop worrying about it! You can talk to her later – after all, that's the best thing to do, and you know it.'
A small nod was all that he needed to do to convince himself of his choice of action and turned his attention towards Nancy and TK.
"I heard the battle today was pretty…well, rough."
"…Which one?"
Nancy turned towards her son and shook her head. "It's probably best not to bring it up."
"I get it – people are scared and are acting off of feelings. They don't know what to do."
"You guys do, right?"
"…I thought we did."
"TK…what happened?"
Turning towards his mother, the boy silently nodded. "You…not now, but later, okay?"
A small nod was the only response he received as the group remained silent, within their own thoughts, throughout the ride back home.
"Oh, thank goodness!"
Isamu was the first to greet her daughter, wrapping her in a warm embrace.
"Mother, I'm fine, trust—"
"Don't say that, because I know you feel horrible."
Noriko wrapped her arms around her mom. "I feel tired, that's all."
"Well, okay. How about I take you—"
"Mother!"
A stern glance was all Isamu needed to see that, behind Noriko, was Davis.
"I'm…I'm sorry," she said, shaking her head, "everything has been a blur, and…we only wanted our daughter back."
"I was glad to help," the boy responded.
"Can he stay, only for a few minutes?"
"Well…sure."
Thanking her mother, Noriko made way to her room to change as Davis was led inside by the elder, and as they walked in, they spotted Takumi on the nearby leather chair.
"There he is."
As Takumi approached Davis and offered him a firm handshake, he added, "I don't think you understand how much we appreciate your help with Noriko."
"Well, what can I say," the boy responded as he dealt the handshake back, "she is a friend, and after what she went through, I felt it was right to help."
Before Davis could retreat towards the couch to lounge with the parents, Noriko's head shot out of her bedroom door.
"Okay, ready."
"…Well, umm, if it's okay with your parents, then—"
"Please, it'll only be a few minutes."
Turning his attention towards Takumi and Isamu, they both glanced at each other before the elder woman said, "A couple of minutes, and only that."
"Thank you," Davis responded as he made his way towards Noriko. As he settled in on her bed, the door was closed and she approached, wrapping him up in a warm embrace.
"I can't thank you enough for what you did for me."
"I felt like I heard this before."
"You heard it from my parents, but not from me."
As she gave off a kindhearted smile, Davis saw in here a complete turnaround from only a while back.
"I have to say, you look a lot better."
"Well, thank you – it definitely feels good to be somewhat normal again."
As the two sat on the bed, they allowed a stretch of silence to come between them.
"So…how did it feel?"
Noriko bit her lip and stood from her bed, moving away while in deep thought. After a solid minute, she turned towards Davis, ready to answer.
"I think I said it best before – I'm somewhat normal now, so during this whole stretch, I felt like I was someone different. I felt scared coming out to my parents because I didn't know how they would have reacted, and I am so glad that Gennai appeared when he did to help ease them a bit. But…I still feel like something else is going to happen; I don't know what exactly, but I can sense something…an aura, if you will, hovering above me, waiting to pounce, almost like a predator going after its prey."
Davis took a minute to reflect before he realized what Daemon said.
"Daemon…he said that something was going to happen with Ken and Kari. I don't want to—"
"Why? What do I have that connects me with those two?"
"Maybe it's…the aura that you spoke of. Do you know what it feels like?"
"…It's dark and threatening. That's all I can really say."
Standing up from the bed, Davis approached Noriko and embraced her once more.
"I want you to know that, if you need anything over these next few days, please reach out."
"Thank you," she said, embracing him as well, "it feels like I'll be seeking comfort from someone – heck, anyone would work during this time."
After a minute, the two bid their goodnight, and as Davis made his way out of the bedroom, he stated that it would be fine for him to head home, considering the close distance and to give the family some privacy. Bidding the parents goodnight – as well with the elders praise once more – the leader was off, in the chill night, alone with his thoughts to wrestle against during the night.
"Say, how is Ken getting back home?"
"He has a way back, either the bridge is open, or Oikawa will take him in – no need to worry."
As Yolei responded to her partner during their travel back, thankfully losing the pact early on as she traversed through back alleyways for the quickest route, she was still dealing with what to ultimately do.
"Yolei?"
A sigh escaped before answering, "What is it, Hawkmon?"
"I sense you have something on your mind – better to let it out than to keep it festering within."
Shaking her head in disgust, the only response that came was, "Don't be foolish, nothing is going on."
"Yeah, like I'm going to believe that. You haven't been fine since our fight against LadyDevimon. Now, as your partner, I deserve to know what is bothering you."
"You don't deserve to know anything, especially my own feelings."
Breaking free from her arms, the avian hovered over, eyes narrowed.
"Tell me…what is the matter?"
"…You aren't going to like my answer."
"And how are you so certain about that?"
"Because I know you too well – pretty much an open book."
"…You want out, don't you?"
"Yes, I do, and there is nothing you can do to change my mind."
"So, that's it, huh; you're going to let Daemon win, and allow Ken and Kari to suffer from his eventual attack?"
Yolei shook her head before taking off down the alleyway.
"Hey, where are you—"
Hawkmon took a second to glance at his surroundings – he knew where he was.
"Oh, you aren't getting away that easy."
Beginning his flight, the avian went high, hovering over numerous buildings for a few minutes before spotting his complex. As he made his way onto the outside balcony, it was a small blessing that Chizuru was close to heading out into the chill night.
"Oh, hey there, Hawkmon; glad to see things—"
"Not to be rude, Chizuru, but I had to beat Yolei home for one sole purpose…and it seems like I did."
As Hawkmon entered the complex, only a few seconds elapsed before the front door opened, and as Yolei entered, the pair locked eyes instantaneously.
"You weren't supposed to beat me home."
"Oh, I did, and I want my answer before you step another foot."
Chizuru stepped back into the living room, closing the glass door behind her.
"Well, you're both safe and alive – that's all that matters, right?"
There was no way around, as trying to make peace beyond the confrontation was nothing but waste.
"Yeah, that sounds grand," Yolei replied, inching her way closer to her sister and partner, "if it wasn't for the fact that I almost died today."
"Oh, you put yourself in harm's way, to begin with."
"How dare you try to turn this on me – I actually had a strategy going."
"Yes, you did, and as you admitted only a second ago, you almost died due to your strategy."
The avian smirked, knowing he had her defeated.
"So, your plan, the reasoning behind your plan, and your answer to my question are all non-existent. You can make it one out of three by answering my question."
Her eyes glanced between the two brawlers, and Chizuru knew that this couldn't continue any longer.
"As an impromptu mediator," she blurted, "I need to ask…Hawkmon, what question was it that you were pestering my sister with?"
The avian let out a small chuckle and a quick head shake to go along before responding. "Oh, Chizuru, it's only a simple case of human life and what could be their eventual deaths if Yolei and I plan to not continue fighting…am I right?"
As he turned towards the now stunned girl, Hawkmon knew that she was backed into a corner, no way to escape, without a valid reason.
It only took a couple of seconds to dismiss such success as the front door opened once more, and in walked the rest of the Inoue clan.
"Oh, Yolei!"
Mrs. Inoue was the first to respond as she rushed and hugged her daughter tight.
"I've heard a lot happened today, but I'm so glad to see you alive and well…and Hawkmon."
The bird waved his wing and gave a smile towards the mother before she continued on, "Thank you for fighting, and for protecting not only her but the small amount of Odaiba that you dealt battle in."
"Oh, it was nothing," Hawkmon said, "knowing that I would be saving more than Yolei helped make the fighting all the more worthwhile."
It was here that Yolei finally lost it, as she broke away from her mother's embrace and turned towards her partner.
"Shut it, okay!"
The small verbal lashing left a few of the Inoue's speechless.
"No…no more," she continued, shaking her head and hands in protest, "I am done – I don't want to deal with anyone for the rest of the night."
Before anyone could interject, Yolei made it to her bedroom, shutting the door shut.
"Well, fine by me," Hawkmon muttered before retreating to the farthest corner of the living room, away from the family, still aghast by what took place.
Turning towards the bird, feeling sympathetic for him, Chizuru turned towards her mother, asking, "Say, do you need any help down in the store?"
It took a second for Mrs. Inoue to break from her trance and gave a long sigh before saying, "It's inventory time, though it shouldn't take as long. You are free to help me and your father with that."
"Sounds good," Mr. Inoue responded as he turned towards his two other children, "and I reckon the both of you to stay here and make sure nobody does anything erratic."
After a solid nod, the three workers departed for the store, leaving Momoe and Mantarou alone with their unique task.
"Okay," the lone boy said, "I'll make sure Yolei is fine, and you can check on Hawkmon – deal?"
Momoe silently nodded towards her brother before asking, "You aren't going to, well, force yourself in there and try to talk now? I mean, that's crazy."
"Not now, but later on if she needs it," and with that, Mantarou took a seat to the left of Yolei's bedroom door.
Another nod was given by Momoe as she made her way into the living room, stopping a couple of feet shy of her target.
"Hey, how are you holding up?"
Her question fell on deaf ears, and in a split instant, Momoe had an idea to get him to talk.
"Psst, kid, that question was for you."
The avian turned towards the eldest girl, now on her hands and knees crawling towards him.
"What…did you call me?" he asked with complete disgust.
Momoe chuckled softly. "You totally remind me of Yolei back when she was little – she would have the same reaction that you are having right now. It seems like you two have a lot more in common than you think."
A single digit was pointed towards Momoe as Hawkmon became stern. "You better take that back – there is nothing that compares us, and you saw that tonight."
Shaking her head, she continued, "Oh, but there is – you both get irrational and arrogant whether you are wrong or right respectively, you both deeply care for others—"
"Ha! Yeah, no – I haven't seen any care from her outside of Christmas. She is too insecure to be linked to me."
Before Momoe could speak, Hawkmon stood from his spot and moved closer to the girl, continuing on with his rant.
"She doesn't think things through – any chance of me pointing it out to her is battened down. She wants to reason instead of fight for what is good and right, and she has been this way throughout my time with her."
Momoe shook her head calmly. "Yeah, and that is what makes her compassionate."
"…She goes too far with it—"
"Before, you said she didn't care, and now, she cares too much? I'm sorry, but something else is bothering you."
"If she cared, she would tell me why she doesn't want to fight anymore."
"Wasn't it made obvious that this is all new to her? It is going to take some time to get used to…although I could argue that this is going on a bit too long, but perhaps your world and Odaiba are two different places."
"No, they're not – the Digital World is my home, and she was fine fighting in there."
"In the beginning?"
"Obviously not, but she eventually grew up and realized why—"
"Did she really?"
Both of Momoe's questions started getting to him.
"Trust me when I tell you that you do not know my sister like I know her—"
"I never claimed that at any time."
"Good, because it seems like you still have a lot to learn about her before making any rational opinions."
As silence continued to plague Hawkmon looking down at the carpet, Momoe continued.
"She cares a tremendous amount for anyone in her life. She doesn't want to see anyone suffer - what would be the point in her still fighting alongside you if the end result was the same. She wants everything to be better, and most importantly, she doesn't want to see you hurt."
"...I get the last part," the avian muttered, his gaze still down.
"Are you sure? During your fight, did you struggle against your enemy?"
Hawkmon looked up at the girl. "Well, obviously, we…"
It took a second before it clicked. "We were up against a few Digimon that were stronger than us. Even with everyone digivolved up to their highest forms, we still had issues."
"So, what should that prove?" Momoe asked.
"...That she cares. When she had her scene at the station, it baffled the girls. But now, it kind of makes sense."
Momoe nodded as she started to retrieve, but before she could, Hawkmon had a question for her.
"Wait...if she would have gotten her way – we would have known why the Corps were here in the first place and who they were after – but they still went after innocent people, what would have happened?"
"At that point...you go for the kill," Momoe answered, "and trust me when I say that Yolei would have been all for that. Give her some time and talk things out soon."
As the girl retreated, Hawkmon stayed in his corner in deep thought.
'It sounds a bit off, but maybe Momoe is right...maybe I am being too harsh on Yolei...maybe some time would do the both of us some good.'
"You're back!"
As soon as Kari opened the front door to her apartment, she heard Yukko on the other side. Before she could react, she felt her mother's embrace.
"Hey," the preteen said as Tai and the Digimon were outside waiting.
"I'm so glad all of you made it out alive," the elder said as she broke free and embraced her son.
"We're glad as well," Tai responded.
Yukko broke as she spotted Agumon and knelt down to pet his head.
"Thank you for all that you did today."
"Oh," the dinosaur said as he scratched his head, "it was nothing."
At this point, Gatomon didn't want to be congratulated - all she wanted was a break. As she made her way into the complex, she dashed towards the bedroom and closed the door behind which alert Yukko.
"Wait, what happened to—"
"Mom, not now," Kari said as she saw her mother stand up, and before making her way over grabbed her shoulder, "she's...not in a good place right now."
"Yeah...we can make sure she's fine for the most part," Tai said as he and Agumon went in and headed towards the bedroom door. After a few knocks and a weak response coming from the feline, they both entered.
"Kari," Yukko had to ask, "please tell me what happened. This morning, she was fine to go and fight, but now it's something completely different."
Kari sighed - she had not planned for this to happen.
"Alright, let me gather my thoughts and we'll meet out back."
Yukko nodded as the two made their way indoors.
"Dad's not around, is he?"
"No," her mother replied, "he's out and about – definitely felt the stress of these events."
Kari nodded as she retreated towards the patio out back. Within a matter of minutes, her mother joined.
"So, what happened?"
It took Kari a few seconds to compose before beginning, "We went back to fight against the enemy that we failed to kill yesterday. This time, we were successful in taking her down, and Gatomon delivered the final blow. She was so elated…and if it wasn't for Yolei souring on her accomplishment, she wouldn't be like this."
"This enemy…she told me this morning that it was someone from her past."
"Yes, it was. It brought back a lot of emotions from back then, and afterwards, we had a heart-to-heart…"
Kari didn't realize it at the moment but her emotions got the best of her, as tears started to form and drop from her eyes.
"Oh, Mom…what she was put through back then, I am more than glad she is here protecting me."
As she wiped the tears from her face, Yukko came over to embrace.
"I get it. You and Tai are truly lucky to have your partners here to aid however they can. It makes me able to breathe, and I don't have to worry every single second for your safety."
As Kari returned the embrace, they both heard the doorbell go off. Turning their attention inside, they both saw Tai exit the bedroom and made his way out to answer.
"I wonder who that could be?" Yukko asked as her son answered the door.
Tai was a bit taken back as he spotted who was standing outside.
"Yes, it's me. I would like to have a word with you and only you."
He nodded before making his way outside.
"So, mind telling me why you're here?"
Arukenimon smirked. "Don't get too bent out of shape now – I would like to aid in your upcoming battle."
Tai was awestruck at the statement. "Wait, you and Mummymon want to—"
"Yes. To be quite fair, I wanted to confess something. What we told you yesterday – originally wanting to help and all that – was a bit of a lie."
"What bit?"
"…The whole thing. We said what we said to please the goggle-headed boy. Either during or after your battle with Daemon, we would have attacked."
"…And you two thought you could beat our team?" Tai asked, his eyebrows arched in curiosity.
The woman was silent for the first time as she shook her head.
"So, what changed?"
"We still want whoever killed our master dead. We still realize how powerful Daemon is. We may be able to help you out when he activates his plan."
"Do you know what his plan is?"
"That, we are unsure of – rest assured, we are now committed in aiding."
Tai nodded. "Alright – the more firepower we have, the better off we'll be."
"Good," was all Arukenimon said before she took flight, not bidding farewell, leaving Tai a bit baffled until he snapped out of his daze.
'Get some rest,' he thought, 'you'll need to be ready more than everyone else.'
As nighttime fell and morning came upon Odaiba, the Takenouchi household was mostly silent except for the actions of one person.
'I hope they aren't too upset…'
Mimi grabbed the landline phone and made her way out onto the balcony, where she dialed her number back home. After a couple of rings, she received an answer.
"Hey, Mom, it's me!"
"…Oh, Mimi, it's so good to hear from you! Your father and I have been watching the news and from what they've been saying, I was starting to get worried."
Mimi sighed. "Is it bad over there?"
"Well…people are trying to connect all of those past events together to see if there's any correlations."
"If that's all they're saying, then it's good to me."
She could hear her parents conversing on the other side, and within a minute, her father answered.
"Hey, sweetie – good to hear that things are going well for you. Thank Palmon for us when you have a chance."
The girl giggled. "She's catching up on some much-needed rest, but I'll let her know."
"Thanks – any way you can make it back before New Year's?"
"…Let me think."
She sat on this question for a solid minute. As much as she wanted to view the city when it played as host to the turn of a new year – the prior year left her more…on edge – she wanted to be here in case Daemon planned his attack.
"I…I wish I could be back, but there's still someone out there that wants to—"
"You don't need to explain – trust us, we understand."
Mimi smiled. "Thanks, Daddy."
As they all bid farewell, Mimi hung up and glanced towards the sky, allowing her to mull over her decision.
"It's the right thing to do," she whispered.
Taking a gander around the city, her eyes spotted someone up high, and as the creature zoomed in, Mimi thought her eyes were being deceitful.
"Is that," she whispered curiously, "…is that Hawkmon?"
Sure enough, she got her answer as the avian swooped down onto Sora's balcony within a couple of seconds.
"…Oh, well good morning, Mimi," Hawkmon said as he bowed to her after making his landing, "I figured a good flight around the city would do me wonders."
"How…how did you find the apartment?"
"I have my ways; now, is it fine if I were to come in for a bit?"
"Well, that's not up to me, but to—"
A sudden pull of the glass door opening caught their attention.
"Morning, you two!" Sora beamed as she spotted her friend and guest out back.
"Good morning, Sora," Hawkmon said as he waltzed into the complex, Mimi not too far behind.
"They're in my room – the door is open."
"Thanks," the avian replied with a wave before journeying towards the bedroom, being greeted by Biyomon and Palmon as he entered.
"Morning! What brings you here?"
"Oh," Hawkmon replied to Palmon as he closed to door behind him, "figured I would talk some things out before heading back to Yolei's."
"What happened?" Biyomon asked as she and Palmon both got off of the bed and headed towards Hawkmon, who made himself comfortable on the carpet.
"Yolei…she is being a bit stubborn."
"In what way?"
The avian sighed. "She doesn't want to fight anymore."
"That's…odd. Do you know why?"
With the onslaught of questions coming from both females, one after another, Hawkmon decided then to delve into his night.
"She hated what unfolded during our fight. She thought that—"
"Please don't tell me she was fine with what she said to Gatomon."
"I…I don't know," he responded to Biyomon, "We didn't have much time to talk between fighting until she said enough was enough and hid in her room. I talked with her sister, and after that, things felt like a blur."
"How…did they feel like a blur?"
"Apparently Yolei is compassionate to be heroic but her actions don't portray that in the slightest. She would fight if it's the last resort, but again, actions. I…I don't know what to feel anymore."
"Well," Biyomon said as she approached the avian, "maybe a good, long discussion with her is what you need to make things better."
She sat down and wrapped a wing around his backside, making him solid as a statue.
"I…I guess you're right," he said forcefully through running adrenaline.
"Don't worry – us girls know how best to handle these situations."
As he nodded at Palmon's statement, Hawkmon began to feel at ease – either the decision to officially talk with Yolei did it, or he started to feel comfortable with her wing around him.
