Amy groaned as she awoke, her head pounding a little from all the dream jumping. Though she quickly forgot about her aching head when she saw Alyssa lying on the floor. She jumped up from the bed and went over to her. "Ali? Ali!" she called, gently shaking her shoulder. The Time Lady let out a soft moan as she stirred. "Are you ok?" she asked

"Yeah" Alyssa slowly sat up "blimey, the Dream Lord sure knows how to make a girl's head hurt", she remarked "I take it you made your choice".

Amy nodded "I did", she replied "I chose Rory".

"Figured you would've done", Alyssa said giving her a proud smile "never doubted you for a second".

"I doubted myself", Amy admitted "didn't think I'd be able to make a choice".

"How so?" Alyssa questioned, curious.

"I still love the Doctor. Not in a romantic sense, of course…that stopped after the kiss", Amy explained "but I still care for him. So it made it very difficult to choose between two people that I care for deeply".

"I understand. If I were in your position, I'd find it hard too", Alyssa said gently "Now I think we should go found our respective partners because I don't know about you, but mine is going to into worry mode".

"That wouldn't surprise me at all. The Doctor is pretty protective of you", Amy remarked, helping the Time Lady up.

"Its mainly due to the baby", Alyssa said making Amy look at her in both surprise and shock.

"You're…you're pregnant?!" the ginger exclaimed.

"I am", Alyssa confirmed.

"When did you find out? How far along are you?" Amy asked quickly.

"I found out after the trip to Tahiti. And no I don't know how far along I am. A few weeks maybe but I'd have to get a scan to know for sure", Alyssa answered.

Amy hugged the Time Lady carefully "I'm so happy for you Ali", she said, happily "you'll make a great mother".

"Thanks", Alyssa said. She stepped back "Now we really better go find Rory and the Doctor".

"Yeah, good idea", Amy agreed. The two females left the bedroom. "We're should we go first?" the ginger asked.

"Lets head to the console room", Alyssa suggested "our fiancé's are either already there or on their way to it". Amy nodded in agreement and the pair headed off toward the console room. They hadn't reached it when the Doctor careened around the corner, almost knocking them down.

"Ali! Are you ok?" the Time Lord asked, frantically checking her over, his hands lingering around her stomach.

"I'm fine", Alyssa said gently. She took his hands, placing them on her stomach "we're both fine".

"Good. That's good", the Doctor said utterly relieved. To say that he was worried was an understatement. "Rory is in the Library", he told Amy "you and I are going to the med bay", he added to Alyssa.

"Alright", she said knowing not to argue with him. She should've figured that he'd want to check her over properly despite her assuring him that she and the baby were fine.

"I'll come find you later!" Amy called as the Doctor took Alyssa's hand and led her away.

~med bay~

"So what's the verdict?" Alyssa asked moving to sit up on her elbows after patiently laying on the bed while the Doctor scanned her.

"You and our baby are healthy", the Doctor reported.

"Told you we were fine", Alyssa said "out of interest how far along am I?"

"About a month", the Doctor replied.

"And this'll probably sound like a stupid question but how long is the pregnancy going to be? Is it the same as humans?" Alyssa queried.

"Actually its 18 months", the Doctor confessed and the Time Lady's eyebrows shot up.

"18 months?!" she exclaimed "bloody hell". She hadn't expected to be carrying a baby inside of her for a year and a half.

"It'll be ok, love", the Doctor softly, sitting on the edge of the bed "I'm going to be with you every step of the way". At those words, Alyssa kissed him.

"Thank you", she said "to be honest I'm a little scared. Even more so than when I found out that I was slowly being changed into a Time Lady". Now that the reality of her pregnancy had finally sunk in, she was afraid that she wasn't ready to become a mother and that when the baby arrived, she was going to do a bad job of raising him/her.

"That's understandable. You've not done this before and it can be a bit scary, believe me, I know", the Doctor said.

"What if I'm a bad mother?" Alyssa mumbled to herself.

"Now, that's impossible. You could never be a bad mother. You're an amazing, brilliant woman turned Time Lady with strong maternal instincts. Our son or daughter cannot be in better hands", the Doctor said touching her face.

The Time Lady smiled, happy tears in her eyes. "God, I love you", she declared, kissing him again "I love you so much".

"I love you too", the Doctor said. Alyssa laid down on the bed, patting the space next to her. The Time Lord didn't hesitate to lay down next to her. It wasn't long before the Time Lady fell asleep, still rather tired despite the fact that they'd been sleeping for ages, jumping between dream worlds. Alyssa shifted, resting her head on the Doctor's chest, the Time Lord putting a protective arm around her. He really couldn't wait for their son or daughter to be born in 17 months' time. There was so much he wanted to teach their child about the wonders of the universe. He also wondered what they would call their baby. Perhaps Ellie after Alyssa's former best friend? Or Elizabeth after her grandmother? Maybe a male equivalent if it was a boy…

All these things to think about over the remainder of Alyssa's pregnancy. As well as whether or not to make a mini sonic for him or her. That he most likely would have to talk with his fiancé about. He didn't think she'd appreciate him making one without discussing it with her first. His thoughts were abruptly cut off when he unexpectedly fell asleep.
