When I found her, Kenya was alone. She was kneeling in a large cavern.

"Did you see Alder?" I asked, approaching her. Pignite followed behind me, looking up at the ceiling. "He walked right past me. He ignored me though."

"Must have missed him." Kenya got up. "How'd you find me?" I pointed at the large staircase.

"Leads straight to the surface. I was a bit distracted by Bianca's battle but I knew you were fine." Kenya looked down at a pokeball in her hand.

"Bianca's battling?"

"She was, some weirdo challenged her. She won." Kenya nodded. "Did you find another pokemon?" She scowled.

"I don't need another pokemon."

"What?" Kenya walked past me, heading up the stairs. I hesitated before speaking up.

"Did something happen?" Kenya stopped and turned to me.

"Andrew. If you could become the champion. But doing so would hurt someone you care about. Would you?"

"How would I hurt someone?" I dodged the question. Kenya stared at me, silent. "I don't think I would. The people I care about are worth more to me than becoming champion." Kenya nodded.

"I guess you're a better person than I am." Kenya turned and continued up the stairs. I thought about Kenya's Druddigon.

"That doesn't make you a bad person!" I spluttered out, my words meshing together in my panic. Kenya turned to me again. "If you want something that badly, you have to go for it no matter what. Right?"

"No matter what?" I made my way up the stairs. Pignite hopped up after me. Kenya looked up at the exit. "Andrew, I want to be champion."

"Yeah, I know that. Lets challenge the Nimbasa gym, so we can head to Driftveil and beat its gym too."

"What?"

"Why wait for the tournament? As long as were back before it starts we'll be fine!"

"I guess you're right." Kenya thought about it.

"Come on, then." I pushed Kenya up the stairs. "lets go get Bianca." We headed aboveground. Bianca was sitting with Jerry. Her Snivy was in her lap. Kenya and I made our way over to them.

"Hey you two, did you find a pokemon?" Bianca asked. Kenya grunted and sat down.

"That guy can heal my pokemon, right?" Jerry smiled.

"I can." Kenya handed him a pokeball.

"Heal it." I sat next to Bianca and shared our plans.

"That sounds like a good idea." Bianca said. "It will make us a lot stronger for the tournament."

"When is the tournament, again?" Kenya asked.

"The 18th of next month." Bianca fed her Snivy a piece of candy.

"We better hurry then." I waved Pignite over.

"Yeah," Kenya snatched a piece of Bianca's candy. "I want to battle the Nimbasa gym first thing in the morning."
