Hey there Digital boys and girls. I'm back with this new chapter just for you guys. I hope all of you are doing okay, what with this whole Covid 19 virus going around. Luckily for me i haven't caught it, but my workplace is shut down for the time being so, I've had a lot of free time on my hands.
I won't hold you all too long with my ramblings so, without further ado, let's begin the Lobos Kingdom arc.
"Seriously Emerald? You couldn't at least find a third year or two?" Isis asked me as my team, and I, stood in front of her desk.
"Hey, me and Tia both tried but everyone we asked either said they were busy or flat out refused," I replied defensively.
Isis let out a tired sigh before slouching in her chair. After taking a second to recompose herself, she straightened her posture before adopting a more serious attitude.
"Alright fine. I, Headmistress Isis, formally recognize the assembled team of Cinthia, Emerald, Jake Wolf, Loppe and Prince Alexander.
You five will be working together over the course of the next month to fulfill your mission to the best of your abilities. As such you are, henceforth, active representatives of The Digi Academy in its entirety.
From now until the completion of your mission, you are to hold yourselves with dignity and honor. You are to refrain from taking any actions that will negatively impact the Academy's reputation.
You have all been informed of the mission parameters I take it?"
As Isis paused for our confirmation, everyone nodded their affirmation.
"Good, then everyone should make their way to the transporter room to be prepped for departure. Emerald, please stay behind for a bit. There is something I would like to discuss with you in private."
I watched as all the members of my team left. As soon as the door shut, I turned to Isis just in time to see her flying at me.
I caught her in my arms. She gripped me tightly before burying her muzzle into my chest and taking several deep sniffs.
"You going to be okay?" I asked her.
She let out a soft choked whimper before drawing in a deep shaking breath. She pulled away from me and I could see the look of absolute fear and concern on her face.
"As the principal and the leader of this campus, I shouldn't be saying this…" She started out, looking like she was on the verge of breaking down as she fidgeted with my shirt in her hands.
"If anything on this mission goes wrong, I want you to get out of there immediately. I want you to take this."
One of her hands released my shirt as she brought some sort of remote into my view.
"If It looks like the mission is going FUBAR, I want you to use this. It will bring you back without fail."
I gave her a strange look.
"Isn't that what the rings are for," I asked while pulling up my sleeve to show the silver band wrapped snuggly around my bicep.
She shook her head negatively as she pressed the remote into my hand.
"The area around the kingdom and its surrounding forests have a strange field that prevents the bands from activating. We also won't be able to contact any of you once you enter. The only thing we know for sure that will pull you out is that remote right there."
"Shouldn't you be giving this to Tia then, she is the team leader after all?" I questioned her.
She didn't respond, she just curled my fingers around the remote.
"Just promise me you will use it if something happens," She pleaded.
I narrowed my eyes at her, but slowly shook my head affirmatively. I slipped the remote into the shadows of my sleeve before wrapping my arms around Isis.
Her tail wrapped itself around the both of us. I tilted her head up and brought her into a kiss that she desperately reciprocated.
I pulled away from her lips and she wined lightly. I placed my hands on both sides off her face and gently rubbed her cheeks with my thumbs.
"I give you my word that we will all come back alive and well," I told her as she nuzzled her cheek into my right hand.
Isis reluctantly pulled away from me, though she kept her tail wrapped around us. She looked up at me.
"By the way, one of the other students was found unconscious and a mysterious note was attached to her mother with some pretty serious accusations on it yesterday.
You wouldn't know anything about that would you?" She asked me accusingly.
"No idea what you're talking about," I answered calmly, smirking on the inside at the memories of what happened the previous day.
"Why do you ask," I asked her, acting inquisitive.
It was clear she wasn't buying my bullshit., but she continued none the less.
"No reason, I was just trying to figure out where to have her stay for the moment. Her home has been completely burned to the ground and it will take some time before we can arrange a dorm for her."
As soon as she said that, I thought back to the time that Seth ratted me out to Nina.
"I think I know someone who has some free space and could take her in," I said slyly.
*Five Minutes Later*
After finishing up our goodbyes I made my way to the rest of the team in the transporter room. The instant I walked into the room, prince douche-nozzle shot me incredibly hateful glares while Jake was laughing his ass off.
"Welcome back! guess you're a quick shooter," Jake said somewhat mockingly.
"Oh, trust me, he is, by no means, a quick shooter," Tia said with a smirk. "You could also confirm that with Isis. She had first-hand experience after all."
This seemed to infuriate his royal anus even further. I was honestly surprised he hadn't popped a blood vessel yet with how angry he looked.
His partner Loppe, on the other hand was just seconds from breaking down into a laughing fit.
"Alright, now that everyone is here, we are going to go over the procedure that you will be using for the beginning of this mission. Keep in mind that the section of the digital world that you are going to operates on a different time than the real world.
Though you will experience one month there it will only be roughly four days in the real world." One of the lab techs addressed us.
Despite talking to us, her eyes never left a small tablet that she appeared to be imputing data into. Either way she just moved along with what she was saying.
"First we will be sending two of you into the forest on reconnaissance. Based on knowledge of the area as well as skill sets, we have decided that Alpha Emerald and his partner Cinthia will be the reconnaissance team.
You two will be dropped off at the entrance of the forest. Your job will be to scout out the forest and find the location of the Leomon tribe.
You are simply to locate it then make your way to the main kingdom and report to the Royal family on the location of the Tribe and their numbers.
We can't stress enough that you are not to engage them alone."
At this, she took her eyes away from her tablet and gave us a serious stare.
"Right, look but don't touch. Got it." I reply.
She narrows her eyes slightly but nods and looks back at the tablet.
"Next will be the second team. The rest of you will be taken by Pteramon directly to the Lobos Kingdom castle. You are to report to the King directly and inform her of our plan as well as see if there is any more work that she would like you to take care of."
It was at this point that I raised my hand. To my surprise the lab tech acknowledged me despite not taking her eyes off her tablet.
"What is it, Alpha Emerald?"
"I thought the king was male," I asked her in confusion. I thought back to when Isis was talking about the old king.
As soon as the words left my lips, the lab tech immediately broke down laughing.
"That's hilarious Alpha Emerald, who ever heard of a male king." She continued to laugh until the prince shouted out indignantly
"I will have you know, you wench, that my father is the rightful king of Desvaria!"
The lab tech looked at him seriously for a few seconds before she started laughing again.
"Yeah, well, you also come from a backwards country that thinks men can be superior to women," She said still laughing.
I gave her a flat stare and cleared my throat. She looked at me and her eyes went wide. She stopped laughing and cleared her throat.
"Ahem… my apologies Alpha Emerald. I suppose you are proof that it is possible, or at least you're an exception."
I gave her an accepting nod and she continued.
"Once Team one has rendezvoused with team two and the King, you all can strategize with the King and her royal guard as to how to go about neutralizing the tribe. Does everyone understand their roles?"
With a nod from everyone she continued.
"I do need to inform you all that once you are within the Lobos kingdom, you will have no way of contacting us or each other. You must also be careful as we won't be able to pull you out and your rings won't activate if you are heavily injured."
Loppe and Jake both looked a bit nervous at the news while Prince Alexander looked insulted that anyone thought something could happen to him.
On the other hand, I was calm, already knowing the danger we were in. It seemed my own calm demeaner helped keep Tia calm, though she did subtly press herself closer to me.
With those as her last words, she walked away from us and began to work on a computer next to the teleporters, setting her tablet down next to her as she worked.
After about three minutes she turned around again and looked at Jake, Loppe, and Alexander.
"Alright team two, we are going to be teleporting you to an airstrip where the Pteramon taking you to the capital is waiting."
The three walked onto the teleporter pad. Similar to when I had been teleported from Isis's office, there was a bright flash and they were gone.
*Team Two POV*
Jake and the other arrived at the designated location without any issues. When they arrived, they noticed a male tamer who looked to be in his late thirties standing next to an Armadillomon and smoking a cigarette.
The man was about five foot ten inches and was dressed in a smart looking grey business suit. It was the Armadillomon who noticed the group first as it began pawing at its partners leg and releasing grunting noises.
The man looked down at it and it pointed a claw at them. The man followed the claw and finally took note of their presence.
"Oi! Are ye the lads and lass Ah'm s'posed tae take tae the Capital?" The man called out in a thick Scottish accent.
Stepping forward, Jake introduced the group to the best of his ability. The man looked the group over before giving them a dismissive snort.
The man pulled his Digivice out of his pocket and looked to his partner.
"Ye ready Chief?"
The little Digimon let out a happy grunt. The man held his Digivice out towards the little thing. It emitted a light as a small digiegg came out of it.
The egg and the Armadillomon were encased in a bright light. When the light died down, where there was once a tiny little armadillo was now a hulking pterodactyl.
The Pteramon let out a loud squawk and its tamer crawled up onto its neck.
"Oi! Move yer arses!" He yelled at the group, causing them all, even the indignant prince, to hastily scramble to climb up and onto the winged Digimon's back.
Once everyone was settled in, they took off. As they flew, the group noticed the massive forest expanding in all directions.
After about an hour of flight, Jake finally decided to work his way up towards the older tamer.
"So, how long do you think it will be before we reach the capital?" Jake inquired.
"Nae long now," he replied. "Yer lucky the weather's s'nice. The rainy season's upon us."
After another few minutes of silence, Jake suddenly heard a sound coming from above. He looked up but couldn't see anything do to the sun.
He strained his ears to hear better. As the seconds went by the sound got louder. It didn't take long before Jake was able to identify it as the sound of screaming.
In fact, the scream sounded familiar. His eyes widened as he saw the familiar figures of Emerald and Cynthia plummeting from the sky on a direct collision course with them.
"Look out!" he shouted. The Scotsman, having seen Emerald's course himself, tried to steer his partner out of the way but they were going too fast.
He did manage to slightly move their path out of the way but by the time they intersect, Emerald fell past close enough to spook the Pteramon who then began to thrash.
Alexander, Jake, and the Scotsman were able to hold onto its back, but Loppe was caught off guard and was thrown off of its back.
"No!" Jake shouted as he watched her plummet down into the forest below roughly a mile from where Emerald fell.
"We have to go back," Jake yelled.
"Can't, yer on a tight schedule boyo and one lost lass can't change that. She fell not too far from that Lad and Lass that just fell so she should be fine."
"It's not her that I'm worried about," Jake muttered to himself, getting a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach.
True to his word, the remainder of team two arrived at the gates to the capital city of the Lobos Kingdom.
The two young tamers made their way up to the gate as their escort took back off and returned in the direction he came from.
Standing at the gate was a Cerberumon. It looked over the two boys before motioning with its head towards the center of the city before turning and beginning to walk in that direction.
"I think it wants us to follow," Jake said to Alexander.
"I refuse to follow some mangy mutt!" He replied furiously.
The Cerberumon suddenly stopped and turned to look at him with a glare. The snobby prince was to into his rant about filthy dogs being better than commoners to notice.
While he just kept running his mouth, the Cerberumon walked up to him, looking quite livid. Without warning or preamble, it snatched Alexander up by his midsection, much to his continued protest.
"You! Commoner! Make this mutt put me daagh…" He grunted when the Cerberumon start to squeeze his abdomen harder with each insult.
"You should have just started following like I suggested," Jake shrugged as he looked to the Cerberumon to lead the way.
Carrying the struggling prince in its jaws, the hellhound Digimon led Jake through what appeared to be a Bazaar like area, followed by what appeared to be a district of Inns and bars.
Finally, they passed through a very ritzy and upscale area that appeared to house the nobility before coming up to the closed gates of the Castle.
Jake took notice of four Weregarurumon standing in armour and acting as guards of the castle gates. When the guards noticed the group, one called out to other guards on top of the gate to open it up.
Jake took notice of the sound chains as the gates slowly swung outwards, allowing them passage into the castle proper.
Leading the way once more, the massive hound began walking into the castle. Jake assumed that it was leading them to the throne room so didn't bother asking.
They turned round a bend and, at the end of the hallway, Jake saw a massive door that could only signify the throne room.
As they walked down the hallway leading to the massive doors, Jake noticed that the walls were covered in paintings of what appeared to be the past rulers.
After the first picture his eyes went wide.
'It can't be,' he thought to himself when he saw another figure standing directly behind the King in each and every picture.
The group finally made it to the doors that began to open before they even reached them. Through the gap in the doors, Jake could see the King herself, a powerful looking Plutomon in civilian form and completely naked save for a large golden crown sitting upon her head, sitting in her throne, an Anubismon wearing lavish robes holding a large book to her right and a Strabimon in battle form with a scowl and its arms crossed to her left.
The throne was set up on a raised platform with a set of stairs leading up to it. It appeared to be made out of some kind of jet-black wood with insanely intricate designs carved into it.
Every design was inlaid with what looked to be real gold, at least as far as Jake could tell. He couldn't quite tell what the back or seat looked like but could only assume they were just as lavish and exquisite.
Behind the throne was a large set of drapes that was partially open in order to show the throne. From the doorway, Jake could see the bottom of a portrait but not enough to identify who it was of. His best guess was that it was the current King, but he'd have to see it to be sure.
The Cerberumon walked up to the base of the throne and unceremoniously dropped the prince on the ground. Jake walked up next to him to look to the King.
He was immediately left speechless once he got a good look at the portrait. Despite the short hair, normal human ears and heterochromatic silver and gold eyes, it was a dead ringer for Emerald.
The King sat upon her throne looking down at the two humans brought before her. She noticed Jake staring at the wall behind her and took note of the shock on his face.
While she was curious as to what he could possibly be surprised about, she decided to leave that matter be.
"I've brought the ones sent from the Academy." The Cerberumon stated in a feminine voice.
"You've done well Selene, you are free to go," The King replied with a gentle smile.
Selene shifted into her civilian form, showing her to stand roughly seven feet tall. She was incredibly well built with every inch of her body being fairly muscular. She wore a set of gold armour chest plate, gold bracers, skirt, shin and feet guards.
She gave a short bow before leaving through a door just off to the side of the throne. Just as the door shut behind her, Alexander got to his feet.
"How dare you treat me like that you mangy mongrel!" He shouted. The King narrowed her eyes.
Alexander turned to the King. "I demand compensation. You let that mutt fowl my clothes."
"Shut up you mor…" Jake started nervously. The King held up a hand and several armed Dobermon rushed from along the walls to surround Alexander, each one holding a spear tip to his throat.
"What is the meaning of this!" Alexander demanded.
"That 'mutt' is one of my daughters," The King stated coldly.
Jake went wide eyed while Alexander looked visibly shaken at the realization that he just insulted a royal in their own territory.
"Take him to the dungeons," She said with a wave.
In a daze, Alexander, still at spear point, went with the guards. Jake watched as the prince was escorted away. As soon as he was out of sight, Jake swallowed nervously as he turned his attention back to the King.
Her full attention was now on him. His eyes widened before he immediately took a kneeling position. He spoke with what he hoped was a respectful and polite tone.
"Your Majesty, I am one of the representatives sent from the Academy. I am a member of team two, which was sent here ahead of team one to inform you of our current strategy."
As he finished his introduction, he lowered his head to wait for her response. After a tense twenty seconds that felt like a century to Jake, the King spoke up.
She sounded calmer now. Jake could here a succinct, regal tone within her voice.
"Well then, you may proceed," She said.
"Of course, your Majesty. As I've already explained, we've been split into two groups. Our team leader and her tamer were sent to scout out the location and fighting force of the Leomon tribe.
They were told to make their way here once they finished scouting so we could form a proper plan of attack, along with you and your soldiers.
We, group two, were sent here ahead to inform you of this as well as fulfil any duties you see fit until the rendezvous."
Jake felt pretty proud of himself. He managed relay all information clearly and concisely, despite the pressure and knowledge that if he messed up, he could be joining the knit whit in the dungeons.
"So, the Academy only sent three humans and one Digimon, is that correct."
Though it was asked calmly, it didn't take a genius to understand that she wasn't happy.
"Not to correct you, your Majesty, but there are actually five in total. There was an Antylamon with our group, but she was knocked off of our transport over the surrounding forest.
Also, our team leader and her partner are both some of the strongest the Academy has to offer. In fact, our leader, Cinthia, was an Alpha last year and her partner is our current top Alpha."
Jake didn't notice it right away but there was a sudden shift in the King's attitude.
"Did you say your team leader's name was Cinthia? She wouldn't happen to be a Gatomon now would she?"
At this point, alarm bells were going off in Jakes head. He knew he had to tread carefully.
"Yes," he answered slowly. "She is a Gatomon." He calmed a little bit when she didn't immediately have him dragged off.
"And who might this partner of hers be?" She questioned evenly.
"His name is Emerald, he is really strong." Jake answered.
"Doubtful," she replied swiftly, her disbelief evident in her tone.
Jake looked up to see the disbelief on both her face as well as the Strabimon's face. He also noticed the analytical look on the Anubismon's face.
"I believe we should lend some credibility to what the human says, your Majesty," The Anubismon spoke up.
"And why is that exactly," The King asked, turning her head slightly to look out of the corner of her eye.
"That human whole heartedly believes that what he says is true. Not to mention, with all do respect, that if this is the same Cinthia you've spoken of in the past, then this 'Emerald' would need to be pretty strong for her to partner with him."
The King narrowed her eyes for a few seconds before closing them in thought.
"I suppose you aren't my most trusted adviser for no reason. I will concede that this, Emerald, must have at least some skill.
You, boy! What is your name?" She asked Jake.
"My name is Jake Wolf, your Majesty," He replied, bowing his head again. The King replied with a thoughtful hum.
"I suppose for now, I'll have you rest. Starting tomorrow you will help around the castle wherever help is needed."
"What about my…" Jake paused and looked around the room for the right word while gesturing with his hands, "Associate."
"The disrespectful brat will be thrown into the arena for execution by combat."
"But!" Jake tried to cut in, before being swiftly interrupted.
"If you have a problem with that, then you can join him in the arena," The King stated coldly, glaring down at Jake.
"Make your choice, what will it be. Stand by that maggot, or be obedient, like all males should be."
Jake grit his teeth in a silent snarl. Despite his best efforts, he'd now just put his neck on the chopping block.
On the one hand, he couldn't stand that snobbish brat. In fact, he thought the arrogant prince had it coming to him for acting so stuck up all the time.
On the other hand, his conscience wouldn't allow him to just abandon the little creep. If he went into a fight to the death, he wouldn't survive two seconds.
He looked the king in the eye, anger clear.
"I can't just let that scum bag die alone, even if he brought it on himself."
"Quite the noble one, aren't you? Then you can join your friend in the dungeon."
With a wave of her hand, a single guard stepped forward and escorted Jake out of the room. The two walked in silence down a different hallway than the one he came in from.
After a while, the two came to a stone staircase that spiralled downwards, far underground.
About halfway down, Jake started hearing the indignant screams and shouts of Alexander. He released an angry sigh.
As they reached the bottom of the stairs, the princes voice became the only thing the two could hear. At the bottom, there was a long corridor that was lined with dozens of individual cells.
Each cell was closed with a single metal door with a single barred window in each door. The entire area smelled dank and mouldy.
Jake was led to the last cell of that hallway, which also happened to be the cell that all of the noise was coming from.
"See if you can do something to shut him up," The guard said in a rough female voice as she unlocked the door and ushered Jake in.
"It seems like they are coming to their senses and realise that fellow royalty like me shouldn't be in a filthy cell like this and have decided to release me." Alexander said cockily. Just as he tried to walk out the door, it was slammed in his face.
"Hey! Let me out of here right now!" he started screaming at the door. Jake put a hand on Alexander's shoulder.
Alexander whirled on Jake, who was trembling and looking. "What do you want you filthy commoner!? Unlike rabble like you, I am royalty and I don't belong here."
"And whose fault," Jake started slowly lifting his head as his voice trembled with barely concealed anger, "do you think it is that I'm here in the first-place you idiot."
He punctuated his displeasure with the whole situation by slamming his fist into the snobbish princes face, knocking the poor SOB unconscious.
"Hopefully, you learn something from this," Jake said before looking down at his fist. "That is, assuming we survive this. Emerald, you're our last hope right now," Jake muttered to himself.
He walked over to the barred window set into the wall and looked out. As he looked to the horizon, a raindrop splashed across his nose as the sky rapidly darkened and a torrential rain began.
Try as he might, Jake couldn't see more than a few feet out of the window. Despite the lack of a view, Jake was thankful that the wind at least changed direction to blow the rain away from the window.
With one last sigh, Jake turned to the lone bed in the cell and crawled in preparing himself for the night. In the meantime, the prince laid unconscious on the floor by the door, his right eye growing swollen and black from Jake's punch.
*The Next Day*
Throughout the entirety of the following day, the rain never ceased. Jake spent the early part of the day ignoring the prince's attempts to garner his freedom and rested.
He knew what was coming and he was going to need all of his energy if they wanted a chance to survive, at least long enough for some sort of help to arrive.
If he was being completely honest, he had no doubt that Emerald would make it to the city only to find their dead corpses.
He resigned himself to that fact. When he first found out he was a tamer, he knew he would have to go on missions occasionally and it would most likely be one of those missions that would lead to his death.
Despite that knowledge, he still wanted to do it. He was going to make his hometown proud of him. He was the first tamer to ever come from his town and he was going to show his worth.
Around mid-afternoon, a group of guards came down and unlocked the cell door. When Jake walked out, he noticed the guard at the head of the group was the one who had escorted him down.
"It's time," The guard stated sombrely. Jake just nodded while several guards walked into the cell and dragged Alexander out, kicking and screaming.
"If you'll follow me," She gestured further into the dungeon. She began walking and Jake fell into step beside her.
"I'm sorry this is happening to you. You are a brave man. Few would die for their friends, even less would die for someone they clearly don't like and yet here you are."
The guard sounded genuinely sad to be leading him like this. She kept her eyes forward and her expression neutral, but you could hear it in the tone of her voice.
"Thank you," Jake replied, a small appreciative smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. They continued in silence throughout the entirety of the dungeon before coming to a massive door.
The doors opened to a massive colosseum, packed to the brim with tons of different species of canid Digimon. None of them even seemed to be phased by the downpour going on.
Jake was led into the center while Alexander was unceremoniously thrown in. The guards walked back through the doors before coming back with over a dozen other Digimon, most of which were Garurumon, wearing rags and carrying weapons of all kinds.
Jake looked around the arena and immediately found the King and two Cerberumon in civilian form. They were sitting in a booth separated from the rest of the crowd.
Jake recognized the one Cerberumon as the one known as Selene, the Princess. The other one was shorter by roughly a foot, from what Jake could tell.
Like the King, this new Cerberumon was completely naked save for a small, silver crown perched atop her head encircling one of her ears.
The King stood up from her seat and the whole crowd immediately fell silent.
"Attention my loyal citizens, we have a special treat for you today! We have two humans joining the fight for freedom today.
Combatants, you will fight in this arena for the entertainment of all here. As a special reward today, the last two fighters standing will earn their freedom.
You can thank our special guests and newest combatants straight from the Academy," The King announced to the crowd.
As soon as she mentioned the Academy, the entire mood in the whole arena became insanely tense. Even the dense, self-centred prince could sense the atmosphere.
The hyped-up excited aura that the crowd exuded was now gone, replaced with a sense of agitation and deep hatred.
"Now, let the fighting… Begin!" The King bellowed out.
"Oh shit!" Jake exclaimed as the Digimon in the Arena with them all turned towards him and Alexander. He quickly slipped his hands into his pants pockets.
He grabbed two rings from inside and pulled them out. He slipped one on to the middle finger of each hand. He closed his hands into fists and slammed the two rings together.
Each ring turned into a plate gauntlet with spiked knuckles. He brought his hands up in front of him in a defensive stance.
"Go forth plebeian and defend me," Alexander said to. Jake's right eye began to twitch. Before he had the chance to snap at the Alexander, the nearest Garurumon to him lunged at him brandishing a large battle axe.
Jake managed to get his arms up in time to block the large axe with his gauntlets. As he pushed back on the offending weapon, he noticed a grey collar wrapped around the neck of the Digimon he was fighting.
He looked at all the other Digimon and noticed they were all wearing the same collars. Immediately after he threw the first Garurumon off balance, a Weregarurumon was there to replace it.
It swung a large Warhammer. Jake moved to the left to avoid it. The hammer slammed into the ground were he was and became lodged into the ground.
Jake capitalized on this by slamming his fist through the handle of the weapon before delivering a powerful right upper cut to the unsuspecting Digimon's exposed chin.
It was lifted up off of the ground from the force before Jake world around with a left hook to it's stomach, sending it flying away and gasping in pain.
Jake started to question why they didn't just take on their combat forms and slaughter the two humans. Even if they were low ranked Digimon most were champion or ultimate level Digimon.
While Jake could handle B rank or below Digimon on his own, that was only one on one. With these numbers he would be completely overwhelmed in no time.
'It must be those collars,' Jake reasoned. 'It must keep them locked in their civilian form.'
Despite this revelation, Jake new he was still at a severe disadvantage. They were all out for his and Alexander's blood. And aforementioned prince was absolutely useless in combat.
After the first two failed to even land a blow, the group of prisoners decided to instead attack as a group.
One wearing a set of metal claws and another with its bare fists rushed Jake. He landed a solid punch to the gut of the clawed one while the other managed to land a punch to his jaw.
He spun and pulled away from the hit, reducing its affect before aiming for that same Digimon's face. It reared its head back to avoid the hit before hopping back and creating space.
Jake tried to close that gap but was forced to retreat when the first Garurumon tried to cleave him in half with its axe.
It swung furiously at Jake, forcing him to continuously backpedal to evade it. After a particularly powerful slash, it smirked at Jake when he tried to jump back only to find himself tripping over the prince who hadn't moved from his spot since being thrown into the arena grounds.
"Blasted commoner, get off me!" Alexander yelled indignantly, before thrashing around.
"You idiot, you couldn't even stay out of my way?! You are fucking useless!" Jake yelled back as he tried to untangle himself only for the Prince's thrashing, as well as the muddy ground, to make it even worse.
As they struggled, a shadow fell over them. Jake looked up in mounting terror as the form of the Axe wielding Garurumon stood over them.
It glared down on them as it raised its axe above its head.
"This isn't personal kids, killing you will be the first step to my freedom. Hell, I may even get a place as nobility for killing two representatives from that accursed institution.
Now, it is about time to end this," the now identified male Digimon said.
Jakes eyes slowly widened more and more as the Garurumon swung his axe right for Jake's face.
As if time slowed down, Jake could see the axe slowly swing towards his face. He wanted to struggle or defend himself, but his body just wouldn't respond to his will.
Just as he started to believe that it was all over, the axe came to a very abrupt stop mere centimeters from his nose.
He suddenly felt moisture running down his face and he wasn't sure if it was rainwater or tears. Before his very eyes the axe slowly started forming a thick layer of ice.
He looked past it to the Garurumon to see that he had already been encased in the frozen water as a large block. He released a breathe that he didn't know he was holding as soon as he saw a figure perched upon the frozen Digimon.
"Sup bitches, you miss me?"
And with that, another chapter down. I feel I should mention this now so you guys don't get confused later on. For Tia, who has been in the real world since leaving the Lobos Kingdom, it has only been five years, but because of the difference in the flow of time in that level of the Digital World, it has been thirty years in the Kingdom. (Yes I did all of the math to figure that out)
As usual, leave your comments on the chapter as well as what you think of the story Direction in the reviews. If you have questions about the plot so far, feel free to pm me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
