During those three days that Enid stayed in the Kahl household, Biddy didn't leave her room. She didn't come down to eat, to talk, or even take the next chapter of her novel to the press. She just sat there, all by herself.

Her friends had been notified of her pitiful condition, and gosh, did they try to make it better. Dear little Pansy, who was probably the happiest little lady in the world at the moment, had broke news to Biddy that was talked of days earlier...she was expecting another child! She happily went over name suggestions and asked Biddy for her opinion, but the woman was in no mood to hear about happy couples. She didn't even open the door.

Enid tried several times to get her to open up, Dr. Kahl tried once, but ended up fighting with his daughter, and even the boys came and tried to get Biddy to catch butterflies or play chess with them, but none of it worked.

"She's utterly miserable. She's dramatic, but I didn't know that she was this dramatic. I don't even think she's listening!" Pansy said. At this point in time, Enid had left the Kahl household to see what her next adventure had in store for her. Biddy was stubborn and refused to listen to anyone, so this made Pansy decide to recruit someone just as stubborn as she was. You already know who this someone is.

Getting King Dice to leave the casino and come to the Kahl household was no easy task. For one thing, the Devil had decided that he was taking far too many breaks, and, well, when you're the angel of death and prince of darkness, usually what you say counts. That, and King Dice just assumed that Biddy would get over it, like she usually did. Oh, the look on his face when Pansy informed him that she'd been up there for three days.

"What a wench that woman is. One thing happens to her and she decides to isolate herself from all of God's green earth," King Dice mumbled as he accompanied his friend to the household. The party had ended the day before, and he and Pirouletta had a splendid time together...but now he had another task to perform, and that was get some sense into Biddy's head.

Nodding in acknowledgement to Dr. Kahl, King Dice tramped up the stairs, rapping on the door rather violently. "Bridget! Open up!"

"Leave me be, Dice! I am not worthy of being in your presence right now!" Biddy replied hoarsely.

"Just shut up and open the door!" King Dice replied, obviously irritated. The door unlocked. Biddy finally gave up.

King Dice swung the door open, looking at the pitiful mess that was on the ground. Her nightgown was crumpled like paper from how much she'd clutched it in her fists. Her face was red with emotion. Her eyes were dull and her hair was a mess. She had a jug of water, left by her father so she didn't die of sheer dehydration, sat, completely empty, by her bed, which was too small for her and was used as a scratching-post by Garfunkel. There were also several bottles of booze, which the woman kept for a rainy day, scattered on the floor. Every window in her room was broken, not from her, but from various accidents. Other than her bed and her wardrobe, all she had was her desk, on it there were several drafts of her book, some which had been used as tissues. The room was small and unlit; the only light that came in was natural light and candlelight.

"What on earth is the meaning of this, woman?!" King Dice cried, watching as Biddy lay pathetically on the floor. It had appeared that she wanted to cry, but couldn't. She tried to say something, but nothing would come out.

"Bridget, you wretch…" King Dice mumbled, kneeling down to the woman's level, sighing and pulling her off of the ground. She slowly pressed her head into his shoulder. Of course...all she needed was the source of her problems! Dr. Kahl was fuming downstairs.

"You better stop this behavior this instant...for the sake of all of us," King Dice said sternly. Biddy let out some kind of low mumble, but finally seemed to realize how idiotic and childish she was acting.

"P...Pansy...how inconsiderate I am," Biddy said. "Though my own nest will be eternally empty, I rejoice with you in your news of a new addition to the family," she sighed.

"Bridget, get up. Get dressed. Get yourself ready. I think I'm going to be generous and treat us all to dinner tonight," King Dice said, Biddy nodding obediently. Biddy made it clear to Pansy that King Dice was to never know that he was the reason she'd sat and cried in her room for three days.
