Quinn woke up with Jay's arms around her. She smiled snuggling into him.
"Hey" He said sleepily.
"Go back to sleep" she told him "I didn't mean to wake you"
"No, I'm awake" He said leaning down to kiss her.
Quinn stretched and sat up. She was so happy he was there, but they still really needed to talk. They hadn't done much for that the night before.
Almost reading her mind Jay kissed her shoulder and put his arms around her.
"Are we ok?" He asked
"I hope so" She sighed "I knew what your job is, but I don't think I really knew"
"I would never cheat on you" He told her "And I would always rather be here"
"I know" She sighed "There's just been so much going on"
"Do you still want this to work?" He asked almost nervously.
Quinn just leaned in to kiss him.
"I'd rather do hard with you then easy with someone else" She replied.
Quinn jumped in the shower first and went to make breakfast while Jay was in there. She noticed that Connor and Kelly had both stayed out all night. She was dying to know what happened between Kitty and Kelly. She was sure he'd met his match with that one.
She sighed opening the refrigerator. Connor has no food left; she was going to have to go to the grocery store.
"There's no food" She said handing Jay a cup of coffee.
"Voight wants you to come down to the station with me" He replied "We can get something on the way"
Quinn bit her lip. She didn't know if that meant they had found something or if it meant the exact opposite. She wasn't stupid, she knew it was hard to get anything on Biff. There were just vague threats and things that couldn't be tied back to him.
They stopped at a diner on the way into the precinct. It felt nice to be out like a normal couple just for a little while. She could barely remember the last time they had been on a date. Their relationship felt like it had gone from 0-100 full of drama in the blink of an eye.
He'd rolled his eyes when she ordered pancakes with a side of bacon.
"If it's not broke" She shrugged.
"It's nice to see some things don't change" He smirked.
Quinn had never seen where Jay worked. Kim and Adam were already at their desks when they arrived.
"How are you doing?" Kim asked
"Better" She replied honestly "Thanks"
"Well that's good" Adam said leaning back on his chair "Maybe now Jay can stop moping around"
"Aww you were moping around?" She asked raising an eyebrow.
"No" He scoffed unconvincingly as he put an arm around her.
Voight called her into his office but asked Jay to stay outside. He closed the door behind them, and she took a seat.
"Quinn I really want to help you" Vought told her "But right now we've got nothing, I've got chatter he's under suspicion of a lot of things, but no one can get close to him to find anything concrete"
"So, until he hurts me or someone else there's nothing that can be done" She sighed "I know that's how it works"
"That's not what I'm thinking" Hank told her.
Quinn waited for him to continue.
"He's under suspicion of fraud amongst other things, if we can get in to tap into his computer, I think we'll find what we need" He said.
"How are you going to get someone inside his townhouse, he's paranoid as it is?" She asked.
"I'm asking you to do it" He replied "I would never ask it of you but I know he'd let you inside, you'd be wearing a wire, anything you can get him talking about will help put this guy away"
"Ok" she nodded.
The last thing she wanted to do was to be alone in a room with Biff but if it was the only way of ending all of this then it would be worth it.
Jay watched her face carefully as she walked out of the office with Hank. 'Are you ok?' he mouthed to her. She just nodded as she walked with Hank downstairs closely followed by Adam.
"There's a camera in the button on this jacket" Adam said "Or we have a purse"
"I would never wear that" She said wrinkling her nose at the jacket "And Biff knows that"
"Purse it is" He said putting it down "Just make sure this side is facing him"
Jay came bursting into the room with a face like thunder. Hank walked over to tell him to calm down.
"Are you kidding me?" He yelled "You ask me to bring her in so you can send her into a room with that psychopath?"
"Jay I'll be fine" She said "If this is the way we get him out our lives then the sooner the better"
Adam took her aside to show her the phone that had a mic in the back and the drive to download the laptop information to.
"I'm going to be there the whole time" He told her, but he was staring at Hank the whole time.
"We need to think of a reason you're talking to him" Adam said "Get your story down"
"Trust me I know what to say" She said shaking her head.
Jay had taken her back to Connor's house so she could change. He had tried to convince her to wait a few days, but she just wanted to get it over with. She had already missed out on so much lately. She picked out the pearl necklace Biff had bought her when they were dating and put it on. She looked like a politician's wife or at least a younger version of her mother when she was finished.
"We could both leave" Jay told her watching her from the end of her bed as she pulled out her old engagement ring.
"Your life is here" She said shaking her head "And so it mine now"
"That's some ring" He said taking in the size of the diamond.
"For the longest time I thought this was exactly what I want" She said slipping it on her finger "Now it just makes me feel sick"
"You're not that person" He told her.
He knew Quinn carried around a lot of baggage and shame about her past. She always saw the worst in herself even if she could portray a confident outgoing person to the outside world. It was there in her self-deprecating jokes or the off-hand comments she would make.
"Well then please don't hold any of the things I have to say today against me" She laughed nervously.
Quinn had text Biff asking to meet. It hadn't taken him long to reply. She had driven herself to his building. She could see the van in her rearview mirror where she knew Jay was listening. She took a deep breath to steady her nerves. She had spent years portraying herself as an ice queen and a perfect Stepford wife, she knew she could slip back into it.
She walked up to the door and knocked. She bit her lip nervously while she waited. Biff opened the door and smiled at her as if her showing up on his doorstep was the most natural thing in the world. He cut off the call he was in.
"You look beautiful" He said stepping aside to let her in "Come in"
"Thank you" She said as he kissed her cheek.
He led her through into the lounge. She set her purse down on the coffee table facing them as she sat down.
"You still have it" He said pointing to the necklace "I'm happy to see you but I'm curious why the change of heart"
"I had time to think about what you said" She told him "The life we had planned, just throwing it away over a little fight, 80-hour weeks and struggling was never the dream"
"And that detective of yours?" Biff asked "You're over that too"
"I was hurt" She lied "When I found out about you and that other woman, but he can't offer what you can"
"You're too good for someone like that" Biff told her "you're stations above him"
Biff had gone into the kitchen to get a bottle of wine. The downstairs was open plan and she couldn't see a laptop anywhere so she knew she would have to go upstairs.
"Honey I just need to head up to the restroom" She called after him.
"Of course, sweetheart" He said "But why are you taking your purse"
"I need to use some lady things" She replied.
"First door on the left" He told her.
Quinn watched him take out his phone to make another call as she walked upstairs. She checked the bedroom first but couldn't see anything really other than at least 10 of the exact same shirt. She tried the next door and found the office. She placed the drive in exactly how Adam had told her and waited as it said downloading. She was sure it wasn't taking as long as she thought but it felt like forever. She had put the drive back in her purse. She was going to head back downstairs when she saw a photo of her sticking out of a folder. They were surveillance photos of her. Information about her building, codes for entry.
"What are you doing?" Biff asked from the doorway.
"Just looking around" She shrugged "If we're going to be together, I should really be here"
"We're going to New York" He said walking forward.
Quinn slipped the folder back as she walked round the desk. She stopped him putting a hand on his chest.
"But sweetheart" She said, "You're doing so much with the hospital and with Cornelius, I know it means a lot to my Mother, couldn't we stay for a while?"
"Do you think I'm stupid?" He asked grabbing her wrist "snooping around my office"
"Biff you're hurting me" She warned.
"All you do is lie" He said angrily shoving her back "but I'm the one you paint as the villain"
"I should have told you about Beth sooner" She said trying to calm him down "But I swear I haven't lied to you"
"Then why did I hear you were seen leaving the precinct with your boyfriend?" He demanded as she backed up.
"I know they're looking at you for the break in at my place" She said "I was finding out what they know and trying to get them to back off, I know you wouldn't have hurt me, you just wanted me to see"
"You think I sent those men there?" He asked.
"I know you did" She said not really sure what she was doing " I think you didn't know how else to get through to me that I didn't belong here, I wasn't listening to you, but I am now"
"I wouldn't have hurt you" He said softly "but you've ruined it now, I can't trust you"
How soft and calm his voice had gotten made the hairs on the back of her neck stand on edge. She felt like she needed to leave but he was blocking the door.
"You can" She said.
Biff didn't say anything he just pulled a gun from behind him.
"Biff please" She said closing her eyes.
"Put it down" she heard Voight say.
She opened her eyes to see a gun pointed at Biff's head. She wasn't sure what she was feeling. She felt like she was trapped in a nightmare and couldn't wake up. Biff released the gun and Hank slammed him into the wall. She saw Kevin and Adam holding Jay back.
"Enjoy your whore" Biff said to Jay as Hank pulled him down the stairs in cuffs.
"Jay" She called out as he tried to go after Biff.
He came straight over to her putting his arms around her.
"Don't ever do something like that again" He told her.
"I won't trust me" She said.
She pulled out the file she had found and handed it to Jay.
"Bastard" He said looking through the pictures.
He'd been following Quinn everywhere, looking into the background of the people in her life. He had the codes to her building, pictures inside her old apartment.
"I just want to go home" She said "I understand if you need to go back to the station"
"I'm coming with you" He told her handing the file to Adam.
Quinn pulled off the engagement ring from her finger and threw it into the purse with the drive she handed back to Adam as well.
"Let's go" She said as Jay took her hand and led her outside.
Jay walked over to Hank who was leaning against his car.
"Go" Voight said "We've got this"
