24. Power Play

Chronia turned around with a calm expression. Hermione felt that any surprise she had felt was quickly put aside as she gazed upon the group. " Perenelle, a pleasure to see you again. As for you two who I thought I had rid myself of." Chronia's eyes went wide with delight, "Oh my, we appear to be missing that scruffy looking ginger."

"Ron died because of you Chronia. Now we have come to stop your plans and-" Harry was cut off by Chronia's laughter.

"Oh Mr. Potter you do so sound ridiculous with your boasting. Stop me, from doing what? How do you know what I am doing? How do you propose to stop what's been changed when even you have no idea? Whatever I do has a ripple effect, Mr. Potter. For all you know I haven't done anything." Chronia crossed her arms and smirked at him with the tip of her wand clearly pointing upwards.

Hermione knew she was right, but she also knew how to outsmart the witch. "I can tell you how, Chronia. Because we lived it, we experienced it. You did send us back in time but also a different reality. In that reality, we met people that lived in history books, we met Gods we didn't know existed. With their help, they awoke us to all your misdeeds! It was with their help we got back to our proper time and reality, but at the cost of our friend. So yes, Chronia, we do know what you did, and we will stop you!"

Chronia stared silently at Hermione before she glared at Perenelle. "I suppose you have come here to assist them, eh my dear friend?"

Perenelle bowed her head slightly, "Oui, I will assist them if that means stopping you."

Chronia sneered as she lowered her arms. Her wand transformed into her long staff with the gem at the tip. "I must confess, I had planned to fight you after I took over, but now is as good a time as any." Chronia launched a fireball directly at them.

From Hermione's left she saw Perenelle quickly take her two wands and put them handle to handle. In a bright light blue pillar of fire the two made one long staff of twisted white and black oak. "Tut tut my friend, do not fight fire with fire with me! Confringo!" Perenelle launched a large blue flamed fireball at Chronia's and it consumed the smaller flames. The size of the blast forced Chronia to jump out of the way and caught her wooden doors ablaze.

"Be mindful of the runes! She can activate them without an enchantment and send us anywhere she wants!" Harry shouted as he shot a spell from his wand.

"Leave that to me, Mr. Potter." Nicholas stood defiantly in the courtyard holding his wand in his right hand. Hermione looked over at him as she dodged a fireball from Chronia's staff.

Nicholas slowly glowed a burgundy hue around his body and in a booming voice proclaimed his spell. "Tempus omnis hexagonis traversa obliviate!"

A ring of burgundy energy went out in all directions in the courtyard and small explosions rang out wherever there was a magic rune. Chronia's weapon was destroyed.

"No! How did you know what to do?" Chronia shouted in disbelief. Her face pulled into a sneer as she pointed her staff at Nicholas.

"Perhaps you should do your homework a little better, my dear. Only then would you have discovered my true origins." Nicholas smiled as he pointed his wand at her. "Now will you surrender peacefully, or will I have to show you more of my power?"

"Maintenant maintenant mon amour. We mustn't let your full power unleash. It took me quite some time to calm you down from the previous outburst." Perenelle placed her left hand on his right shoulder while she maintained her aim with her staff.

"Of course, my love, I wouldn't let it get to that level." Nicholas smiled.

"If you two fools are done I have work to do!" Chronia launched a successive array of explosive spells from her staff that sent everyone in different directions. She turned quickly and ran into the burning doorway and out of sight.

"Follow her! The source of her power lay within!" Hermione yelled as the group gave chase.

Perenelle pointed her staff at the burning door and destroyed it with an unspoken spell. They ran as fast as they could and came upon another set of closed doors that were sealed with magic. "Silly girl." She raised her staff and the gem in the tip glowed bright blue. Perenelle jammed it into the spell where a visible ripple could be seen, and the doors exploded.

Chromia stood at the platform and growled as she looked down on them. "You are too late! I am a few words away from correcting this lapse in my vision!"

"Descendo!" Perenelle yelled at Chronia, forcing the time witch through the platform and to the ground. "Expelliarmus!" Chronia's staff was tossed far from her reach.

"Relashio!" Chronia shouted. Perenelle's staff flew out of her hand and strike the wall behind her. "Sectumsempra!"

"Protego!" Nicholas shouted from behind Perenelle. "Levicorpus!" Chronia instantly rose upward by one leg. "Silencio!"

Hermione knew that Chronia was finally captured and unable to speak. She walked into the chamber and her fears were confirmed. In the center of the room was a slowly spinning giant container that was filled with chronoparticles. "I never thought it would be this much."

"She has been collecting for more years than we can count. Now, we will make use of these chronoparticles to aid you in setting all the wrongs, right." Perenelle smiled as she turned to Hermione.

A shudder ran through the entire castle as Hermione looked around the room. It was then she noticed the inlaid stone Golems that surrounded them. A bright outline shone from the ten foot tall stone monsters as they stepped out of the wall.

"Golems! They are going to try and save her! Destroy them!" Isabelle shouted as she released reducto, destroying the nearest Golem. One after the other the group destroyed the Golems yet more came from the walls.

"She must have used a replication spell! We have to find the source stone and destroy it!" Nicholas proclaimed as he destroyed three more Golems.

"What does it look like?" Harry shouted as he destroyed two more Golems.

"It's a triangular stone. Buried deep in the walls." Hermione looked at Nicholas and could see he was surrounded by a burgundy glow, but it didn't feel like he was losing control and becoming the beast Grundfrund. She looked around the room for anything that would indicate the location of the source stone. She then noticed a pattern in which the Golems were coming out of the walls. They came out in the largest numbers behind the large chronosphere.

"Fools! I am free and now you are doomed!" Chronia stood upon a pile of Golems who reached up and released her using Liberacorpus.

"Harry the stone is there! Destroy it!: Hermione pointed the where the Golems were pouring out of.

"Confringo!" The spell shot through the hordes of Golems, but they were preventing the spell from reaching the stone. "There are too many! I can't reach it!"

"Tonn de tharraing!" A voice boomed from behind Harry.

Hermione turned toward where she heard the source of the voice. Her eyes snapped back when she heard Harry groan. Perenelle had used her staff to move him out of the way of an immense energy wave coming. An emerald green one and Hermione could only stand there and watch.

When the bright light dimmed, Hermione looked to her left and saw a wizard and a witch standing in the doorway. The male had on a suit of tan armor with a long emerald cloak over it with its hood up that worked like the unspeakable hoods. His features were completely obscured except for two glowing emerald eyes, which she could only assume were too strong for even the cloaking magic of the Department of Mysteries. The witch had on armor as well covered in a long pink robe, which had the same enchantment, but for her glowing pink eyes. She could only watch as another energy wave, which was silently cast move through the newly forming Golems when a memory of what Eralina did at Corin's village flashed in her mind. She watched it destroy the triangle stone. The Golems instantly fell to pieces and the room went silent.

Hermione turned to look at the man, yet before she could speak she heard Perenelle exclaim. "Father, Mother, you came!"

"Sundra? Is that really you?" Hermione uttered as she could see the golden Redoak on his chest plate.

His emerald eyes still bright shifted his gaze towards Hermione. "Who might you be?"

Perenelle interjected. "Father, this is Hermione Granger. She and her companion Harry Potter were unfortunate victims of Chronia."

"Yes, I remember now. Roger and Brianna informed us." Sundra turned to Hermione. "I am pleased that you were able to get back to the correct timeline my friend. I do mourn the loss of Young Master Weasley. However, I am going to correct that mistake now." His eyes brightened as he shifted his gaze to Chronia. "Your meddling ends now Chronia. If you will not surrender, I will ensure your demise."

"You! Why are you here? I thought as long as Mother didn't interfere, I had her blessings to do what I wanted!" Chronia's face was red with anger, but it also expressed her fear at seeing him.

"She let you play your game to determine your end goal. She has now decided that you are to end this game." The woman in the pink robe responded. Hermione knew it was Lunadra.

"No! I'm not done yet! You think because you are demigods that can stop me? I am in control of time itself! I will eradicate you all!" Chronia jumped from the pile of stones that were her Golems towards the opening of the chronosphere.

"Tonn de tharraing!" Sundra shot another energy wave at her and the chronosphere. The time sphere shattered in the explosion. Chronia was thrown behind the pile of stones she leapt from.

Hermione covered her eyes she could feel Harry next to her. They were both showered in chronoparticles. The power that overwhelmed her from being immersed in such energy forced her to focus on that around her. She ran through her mental library and forced open the door between her and Harry's minds. Together they were covered in gold dust and she could only hope they would survive. She pulled him closer to her than she had ever had to in the past.

Their minds were one, their thoughts melded into one powerful being. She had no secrets from him, and it included her recent discovery. She could feel his pain and soon they stood before a familiar looking home. Hemione wasn't sure if was familiar to her or to Harry because they were thinking as one. At some point, she would ascertain that it was Harry's knowledge of the place from the memories that Snape had shared with him. It was a rundown black brick building not to far from a polluted river and an abandoned mill. She could hear a man yelling inside and a woman screaming in pain. Hermione just watched as their combined being walked through the door and toward the screaming.

A dark haired and heavily pregnant woman lay on the floor as a beast of a man stood over her with a bottle of whiskey in his hand. Objects were flying around the room, which was likely caused the muggle man to react in such a manner. Hermione wondered if it was the first time the muggle had witnessed his wife's magic. It would be a horrible way to find out your wife was a witch when she lost control of her magic during labor. Ice formed in Hermione's gut as she knew that was what they were witnessing. A witch in labor without proper assistance. Their combined being quickly picked up the witch and they disappeared into the slurping straw sensation of apparition.

They stood in front of the familiar empty storefront of St. Mungo's. They quickly relayed in Harry's voice that their wife was in labor and they needed to have her seen right away. Hermione knew that it was the best lie they could give at the time and she hoped their combined visage was of the male variety. She was still unsure how homosexuality worked in the Wizarding World, but she was sure that it wasn't as well accepted as it was becoming in the Muggle world from her time. The thoughts stopped as they walked through the storefront and into the lobby of a much older looking St. Mungo's. Hemione never realized how many of changes were made in the renovations following the end of the first Voldemort Wizarding War.

Hermione was somewhat surprised that they didn't question their identity or ask to see their wands. They were just ushered into a room where they witnessed the births of Severus Silvius and Lilias Seasaidh Prince. Hermione wasn't sure how long they stayed in the room with Eileen Prince, but they didn't move as she stayed. They felt no need for food and time did speed up around them as they spent only minutes in a likely days long stay. They carried one of the babies, Hermione thought it was Severus, while Eileen carried the other.

When they were on the muggle entrance to St. Mungo's Eileen spoke, "I can't thank you enough. You rescued me in that situation, but I fear I must return. I will find her a new home and raise him as my only son."

Hermione shivered as Harry's voice boomed from them, "You will do no such thing to my godchildren. You will accompany me to your parent's home. We will explain what actually happened to cause these children. We will not tell her who their father is, but I will return with a respectable husband for you who will take the Prince family name. You will marry and raise these two as your children in your parents manor. They will learn about muggle culture from me and my wife, but they will be raised as purebloods and not as a half-blood and a muggleborn you wish to disguise them as. You're descended from Salazar Slytherin and that heritage shouldn't be obfuscated out of fear for a half-blood upstart. Do not worry we will take care of the perpetrator. He will be properly charged for line theft."

Hermione could feel her eyes widen as they took Eileen by her arm and apparated her and the two babies to a couple of intricately woven gates. It was a familiar looking oak tree but with a caldron at the roots. It was as if the tree had grown from the caldron but grew too large and instead surrounded it in its roots as if protecting it. At the top of the gate was Prince in a Calligraphy Script. They walked through the gate without any trouble as if the lands the walked on recognized them as family. Hermione didn't want to think on the truth of the fact that she and Harry shared a Prince ancestor.

They arrived at the main door after walking through gardens full plants used in potions, however, many of them had nice flowers during the right season. In the beginning of January even the climate control spells that kept he grounds warm didn't trick the plants that it was summer. Hermione could only assume the more dangerous plants were contained in the greenhouses she could see behind the manor. The manor looked like it was once an ancient castle that was later renovated into a Georgian Style. It had a gold brick exterior with white plaster columns. The tall rounded door was carved with the same design as the gates. The door opened even before they knocked.

A couple of well dressed elves stood before them. One with violet eyes exclaimed, "Mistress has returned. After old master and mistress died, we never thought Mistress would return."

Hermione couldn't help but notice how convenient that was. Harry still had control over their shared body, and they walked into the Manor with Eileen at their side. His voice sounded just as threatening, "Eileen Cassiopeia Prince, I have saved your life and that of your twin children. You owe me a life debt and I am claiming it today. You will raise your children here as Princes, you will marry the man I pick for you, and you will be happy. My wife and I will be named your children's godparents and we will play an active role in their lives. I can erase the memory of their true conception if you would prefer."

Eileen nodded, "I accept the terms of fulfilling your life debt. I would prefer not to remember that night or who the biological father of my children are. I fear that I would never be able to truly love them if I could see even a hint of him in them. I planned on having that muggle blood adopt Severus, but you've changed those plans."

Hermione followed their eyes down at the little bundle in their arms, "Of course I did. I know what his life would have been had I let you fulfill that plan. I am a time wizard and can peer through the possibilities. He will be a potion's prodigy just like you were Eileen. His sister will be gifted in Charms. They both would have been a doomed future if you had continued with their plan. However, I will make sure as their godfather that their pathways remain in the light."

Eileen's emerald green eyes stared back at them, "I will need to know your name for the godparent ceremony, which will tie protective bonds between you and my children."

Hermione had a quick mental conversation with Harry and he agreed to the change in their names that she suggested. "I am Henry Evander Peverell. My wife Hermione and I will return with your husband and to perform both rituals. We will want him to magically adopt your children, so that any paternity test would show him the father instead of that other creature. We will then look for a home closer to your Manor so that our children can grow up together."

Eileen's eyes teared up, "I will never find out the truth once you wipe it away. My children will never be linked to that monster. They will be safe from him. I cannot thank you enough. I hope you hurry back quickly because I know I will need help with these two."

They nodded, "I will return with my wife shortly. You're husband will be informed and prepared for the soul bonding and adoption."

Hermione could only watch as they disappeared into a golden tornado which spit them back out in the same time room where everything began. She felt the two of them separate and she couldn't help but conjure a mirror to make sure everything was put back properly. She gasped at the image. She stared at her changed appearance. Her hair was in perfect gold colored curls, but here eyes were no longer the muddy brown she expected. They were pure gold in color and matched the color of the chronodust. She had gold colored markings up her arms, which were runes in a language she didn't recognize. She looked over at Harry and gasped again. His hair was shoulder length and gold streaked. His green eyes were unchanged but glowed with power. He too had gold rune markings on his arms.

"I see that you have become a time witch and wizard. The soul bond between you is much stronger than I could have imagined. You will always repel Nargles." A familiar musical voice sounded behind them.

Hermione turned while automatically responding, "Luna, I will never believe in your creatures." Her eyes settled on the pink cloaked woman and felt a bit faint. The woman took down her hood and their school friend Luna stood before them, but with pink eyes. Lunadra went to school with them and they were unaware.

Her eyes focused on Sundra who brought down his hood. Hermione gasped, "Theodore Nott! You were Sundra this whole time!"

His green eyes sparkled and the smile that filled Theodore's face matched Sundra to a tee but didn't fit any facial possibility belonging to the usually sullen Slytherin from her memories. "We will discuss our shared past in a bit, but we need to take care of Chronia first. I believe she was exposed to too much chronodust and it reverted her back to that of an infant."

The group quickly went behind the pile of stones and their suspicions were confirmed. Laying in a pile of clothing that once adorned Chronia lay a crying baby. She looked no more than six months old and it pulled at Hermione's heart.
"What are we to do with her? She obviously isn't a threat anymore." Hermione looked in Theodore's eyes with concern.

"Well, we could leave her to the WCPA and hope someone of good heart adopts her and raise her properly."

Harry spoke next to her, "We don't want to have another Voldemort. Hermione and I will adopt her and raise her as our own. We have a second one to pick up in France. She and her past self will be raised as twins in the 1960s next to the Prince twins. I fear this timeline will collapse while we make everything right."

Theodore nodded, "I couldn't expect anything less from a member of my bloodline. Salazar Slytherin was one of my strongest incarnations and anyone from his line will change the world. I can see that same strength in you, and I know your heart. You will only do good."

Hermione felt a shudder run through her. Are they up to the task?
