Mi Casa Es Su Casa
The sounds of Pikipek chirping from outside her window had roused her from her nice slumber. She slowly sat up from her bed, throwing her arms above her head as she stretched before slumping them by her sides. Her half lidded eyes were staring fixedly at the bed sheets she was under. For a minute, in her sleep state she was lost in thought. Then a sudden realization clicks in the back of her mind.
Since when did she tucked herself in bed? She had no recollection of it, besides, she was still wearing the same clothes from yesterday. It wasn't long before the memories from the previous night came flooding into her mind.
She blinked and then her cheeks instantly reddened. Knowing that she must've cried herself to sleep last night and Guzma had carried her into her room. But where was he now?
In an instant, her sleepiness had disappeared. Bethany throws the sheets off of her and practically leaps out of bed to change into a different outfit before frantically heading downstairs. Just as she turns around the corner to look around the living room there she sees Guzma fast asleep on the couch. She sighs silently in relief at the sight of him and is secretly glad that he decided to stay.
She leaves the room for a moment before coming back with a super soft blanket, which was knitted, and gently throws it over him. Bethany walks over to him and leans over to kiss him on his forehead before quietly walking into the kitchen to make herself some tea.
Drinking what's left of her tea, cleaning it and then placing it with the rest of the dishes that were slowly drying or were already dry. Once she is done, she hurries over to the front door where she slips on her blue fanipack around the buckles of her high waisted ripped shorts while at the same time she slips on her white sporty sneakers.
There was a soft chirp that caught her attention as she raised her head to meet her Vivillons curious gaze.
"I'm gonna do something really important Vivi." She reaches out and pets Vivi. "Watch over the house and watch over him for me please?" Vivi chirps in agreement. Bethany smiles and then leaves out the front door.
Bethany was back home two hours later and was currently making breakfast. Humming to herself as she stirred the now scrambled eggs in the frying pan continuously. There was a soft shuffle coming from the living room that was accompanied by footsteps. She turned her head and there stood a drowsy Guzma by the entryway of the kitchen. His eyes were lidded and his tousled white hair was even more flyaway than it usually is. She couldn't help but think at how cute he looked.
"Morning sleepy head." She greeted him with a smile.
"What...time is it?" His usual gruff voice sounded much lower at his current state, it sent chills down her spine.
Bethany glanced down at her wrist watch then back at Guzma. "It's 9:15 in the morning." She could hear him muttering something under his breath but couldn't quite make out what he said.
"I'm almost done with breakfast. You can take a seat at the table when it's done, m'kay?"
Guzma grunts and walks over to the dining room table where he sat down. He placed his elbows against the table and with his right hand he rested his cheek on it, staring at Bethany as she cooked away in the kitchen. The sound of her humming relaxed him and the smell of the delicious aroma was starting to spread across the entire room. His stomach grumbles, realizing how hungry he really was and was trying his best not to salivate. He didn't want to humiliate himself in front of her as she approached him and set the plate right in front of him along with the silverware. Once the plate touched the table he had already begun to eat.
Bethany simply shook her head with an amused smile before heading back into the kitchen to fetch them some drinks. She walks over carrying two mugs and hands one over to Guzma which had a Pinsir design and she kept the one with an Ariados design.
She took a seat on the opposite side of the table and was savoring her breakfast, and when she glanced up she saw Guzma staring at her. "What?"
His eyes trailed down to the mug in front of her to which she followed his gaze and understood why.
"Oh...you mean the Tapu Cocoa?" Her hand gestures at the mug to her right. "I made it from scratch!" she admitted enthusiastically to him.
"...from scratch?!" He blurts out in shock. She responded with a hum of approval. His eyes soften in her direction. "How...How did you know that Tapu Cocoa is my favorite drink?" He questions curiously.
Bethany averts her eyes to the side, shyly. "Um...well, this was back in Po Town. I had to find these passwords—three of them to be exact—in order to see you. They were conveniently written down on clipboards and uh...one of them mentioned that Tapu Cocoa is your favorite drink."
She looked back at him and caught him averting his eyes quickly to the side where he tried to hide his reddened cheeks but to no avail. Bethany reaches out and gently places her hand on top of his own, feeling him tense up at the sudden touch.
"It's okay, really! Besides…" Bethany stared down her hand as she felt her own cheeks starting to flush, her lips curled up. "I'm glad that I found something that you enjoy."
She watches as his hand moves under her grasp where he then interlinked his fingers with hers. Bethany perked up to meet his gaze, a smile plastered on his attractive-looking face. It made her heart skip a beat.
Something soft poked her as she looked over her shoulder on her left and Guzma's attention followed to what she was looking at. He blinked in surprise at this butterfly-like Pokémon with interest. He'd never seen this particular Pokémon in Alola before.
"Is that a bug type Pokémon?" Guzma asks.
"Yes, and a flying type too." Bethany added.
Vivi flew over to Guzma, curiously inspecting him from head to toe. Guzma slowly raised his hand, offering the Pokémon his fingers. As a result, Vivi held onto his index finger with its two short round hands followed by a happy chirp.
"I've never seen this kind of Pokémon here in Alola before." Guzma admitted whilst petting Vivi on the side of its cheek.
"That's because you can only find Vivillon's in the Kalos Region." Bethany mentioned before Vivillon flies over to her and rests itself on top of her head.
A light chuckle escapes from her lips. "I found Vivi here—injured when I was out with a photographer from Santalune City. After nursing Vivi back to health I planned on releasing her back into the wild but Vivi refused to leave my side."
She reaches up to rub Vivi's cheek which got a soft squeal in response. "Vivi has been with me ever since."
As she lowered her hand back on to the table when an idea had popped into her mind. "OH! Wait here. I'm gonna look for something real quick!"
Vivi had already flown off from her head as she got up from her seat. Guzma watched bemused as she bolted out of the room and up the stairs. The sounds of items being rummaged can be heard just above where he sat. Amongst the sound he could've sworn he heard her exclaim in delight and then he saw her come into view from around the corner with something in her hands with an excited look on her face.
"This-" She raises the device up at eye-level. "Is a Pokédex that's specifically used for the Kalos Region."
She proceeds to move it slightly forward which activates it, causing the screen to expand into a few inches. Guzma was instantly sucked in as she went in full detail about the Pokémon's in the region, including the fact that it took her roughly about a year to complete.
"I completed the Regional dex but I haven't actually completed the National dex." She sits back down in her seat.
He gives her a quizzical look as he takes a sip of his Tapu Cocoa. As she opened her mouth to explain, he raised his hand to stop her.
"Hold on, I just gotta get this out of my chest but this is the best Tapu Cocoa I'd ever tasted!" He exclaimed with a grin.
Bethany couldn't contain her smile at his comment then he motioned with his hand for her to continue which made her chuckle. "The National dex is the last step to record and discover new Pokémon from outside of the region." She rested her back up against the chair while staring down at the device. "It's a tedious process and it requires a lot of traveling—not that I don't like traveling! I love it! Nowadays, I'm far too busy with the whole 'being the champion of Alola' and all that kind of stuff. Besides…"
She looks up to him with a smile. "I have everything I need right here, my home, my friends...and you."
Then she clasps her hands together. "Speaking of homes... I have some exciting news!" She says with a sing-song tone.
Guzma hummed as he raised a questionable brow at her and pulled the mug up to his lips to take a sip.
"SO, I spoke to your mom this morning and I convinced her that you'll be moving in with me!" Bethany said excitedly, which made Guzma almost choke on his drink. Well... he practically inhaled his drink at this point.
He stared at her with wide eyes. "You— WHAT?!"
A huge grin was plastered on her face. "I know! Isn't it exciting?" She clapped enthusiastically although Guzma didn't share the same enthusiasm as she did.
Guzma blinked in disbelief. "You're kiddin' me, right?"
"Nope! In fact, as of this moment your mom will have your things packed up and ready to be picked up for tonight." She said as-a-matter-of-fact tone.
He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Did it surprise him? Yes. Was he excited to move in with her? Of course! He's beyond excited, but then he begins to question himself. All the what-if's scenarios were presenting itself inside his head. Yet, the number one thought that really plagued him the most was: "What if he's not good enough?"
Guzma places his elbow on top of the table as he rubs the side of his temples with his hand. "Look, I appreciate the help, but I can manage living on my own, ya' know?" He glances up to meet her gaze, to which she dismissed his comment with a wave of her hand.
"Don't be silly! I have a spare room where you can stay-heck, there's room for your Pokémon to move around in the backyard." Bethany said as she looked over her shoulder towards the hallway where the back door to the backyard was.
With a somber frown, he averted his eyes and he could feel himself shrink from where he sat. Guzma was at a loss for words and he didn't know how to act, if he did, he feared that he might lash out at her for no good reason. It made him feel bitter about himself.
Then he felt her hand on top of his and this made him turn to face her. What he didn't expect was how she stared at him. A reassuring smile on her face and simultaneously rubbing her thumb gently in a circular motion on the side of his hand.
"I know that this is a big step and you're probably thinking about many good and bad scenarios in your head right now, hm?" Right away she noticed him frown and she made sure to reassure him. "Hey, we'll get through this together! I'll do my part but I need to know if you're willing to do yours."
There was a long pause that lasted for a minute or two, and this was enough time for Guzma to finally decide.
He moved his hand to hold hers before looking at her dead in the eyes with a smile. "All right. But if something goes wrong I blame it on you."
Bethany proceeded to pinch his skin in retaliation for his remark. He yelped, pulling his hand away, a second later they began to laugh.
Once the evening had come it was time for them to head out and pick up Guzma's belongings. They walked alongside each other through Hau'oli City, passing by the shopping district and the few people that were still out and about. Nobody really paid attention to them as they were too busy chatting away with their friends to care.
They turned the corner where the pokémon station was and trekked up the small hill that led them straight towards route 2 that's when the house came into view. She looks over to Guzma and notices his eyebrows were knitted together and his lips were pressed into a thin line. He wasn't all too thrilled to be back at his childhood home, and she couldn't really blame him for it.
Bethany slipped her arm around his which made him look down at her. She gave him a comforting smile. "Hey, it's going to be alright. We're in this together."
Her reassuring words made him smile and it boosted enough confidence in himself. Eventually they resumed walking except this time they had their arms interlocked.
Right when they set foot on the porch and Guzma's mother was the one who greeted them excitedly and welcomed them inside. With the help of their pokémon they began to move boxes outside. At the same time when they were moving the boxes his father was sitting on the couch watching them. They paid him no mind, in fact, Bethany had told Mimikyu to keep a close eye on him until they were done. To say that the man was terrified of the little thing was an understatement but it's good to see that he was behaving accordingly.
When they were done it was time for them to leave and Bethany thanked his mother for packing things beforehand. She bid the mother farewell and followed behind Guzma with her Mimikyu trailing behind. Unbeknownst to her, Mimikyu had sent a last glare at the father who was hiding behind the doorway.
The moment they arrived back home is when they began to place the boxes around the living room. They planned on fully taking out his belongings tomorrow morning but for now they're simply going to relax for the night.
Guzma was sitting at the couch flipping through different channels that were on tv while Bethany was making something in the kitchen for them. He stopped on one channel that was currently showing a movie that was about to start.
At that moment, Bethany had sat beside him and offered him a mug of fresh homemade Tapu Cocoa. He took the mug from her before he leaned over and kissed her. This action certainly surprised her but soon she melted into it and returned the kiss. As they pulled away from the kiss before their attention was on the movie and enjoying the moment together.
