Yoru no Hime
Chapter Nineteen
Jaken woke up far after the sun had risen. He gasped, seeing that Lord Sesshomaru was already awake and out of his bed.
"Oh no no no! Lord Sesshomaruuuu, I'm so sorryyyyy!" He had tears in his eyes as he ran outside and looked around.
"Lord Sesshomaru left hours ago, Master Jaken." Rin was sitting outside the hut, crushing some herbs together. She giggled seeing his despaired expression. "You should be happy, they're going to go get Lady Koyoko."
"Whaaaa? He left without meeee?!" Jaken fell face-first into the ground.
"It's okay, Master Jaken. I could use your magic to help me make potions!" Rin stood, walked over, and patted him on the shoulder.
"Is he always this dramatic?" Shippo peeped up, bringing some flowers to her from the forest.
"Always." Rin giggled as she grabbed the flowers from Shippo and sat back down. "...hey Shippo, do you think they're gonna be successful? They said it was going to be dangerous so..."
"Oh, they'll be fine! InuYasha and Sesshomaru are both stubborn as hell about succeeding. I'm not worried." Shippo smiled and sat next to her watching her make potions. Rin stared in the direction that the group had left in before continuing to grind up some herbs, and giggled at Jaken's exasperated stance.
Koyoko paced around the dark abyss. What the hell was she supposed to do?! There was nothing to do. Literally nothing.
A lifetime of having technology stimulating her brain to... well, this, was really screwing with her right now. She sighed and tried to punch something. Of course, nothing. No way to get out her tension, no one to scream at, no shoulder to cry on.. nothing...
She turned and fell back onto the "ground", staring hopelessly at the vast darkness above her.
Suddenly, out of almost nowhere a white light appeared like a window. No way! A way out?! She jumped up and ran over. Was this finally a way out? She had never pushed her legs to run so hard in her life.
Once getting to the light, she winced from how bright it was and saw that it led to what looked like an inn room. Could she get out? There was only one way to find out. She reached forward and tried to push her way out but... no... it was like trying to touch a window. Her hand pressed against it, and try as she might, it wouldn't budge. She collapsed and leaned against the window out, sobbing.
"Hello Koyoko." A woman's deep, yet silky spoke to her as the mirror vibrated. Koyoko sniffled, jumping and looking up.
"Y-you're Kaguya, aren't you?" Koyoko's face hardened. "You look a little different than me. How do you plan to fool everyone?"
"Correct." The woman smiled evilly. "It is complicated. Since it is your body I'm inhabiting, you can see who I truly am. Fortunately for me, there is only one person I actually need to fool." Koyoko stared back at the woman as tears came to her eyes, realizing who she was talking about.
"...Sesshomaru.. it's Sesshomaru isn't it?"
Kaguya chuckled. "You are a sharp one. Now I can understand why he enjoys you so much." Koyoko looked down at the darkness beneath her.
"Can I ask why? Why now? Why after I mated with..." She looked back at Kaguya. "It was for the powers.."
"This body would have been magnificent without them but.. I couldn't have ignored the significant boost his strength would give me."
"So then why lay dormant for so long? Sesshomaru said it had been about three months. Isn't that a waste of your time?"
"Well, I couldn't have the mating connection be there, could I? Then he would know all of my plans and be able to stop me. Plus, you didn't exactly stop fighting for your consciousness back. You put up a strong fight, I will admit. I was surprised when you woke back up as Naraku was about to..." she smirked, watching Koyoko's expression. "well you know. You were there."
"So now my body is mated with..." Koyoko felt herself growing sick. She wanted to throw up. "Naraku?" Kaguya's eyes turned dark, as she seemed insulted.
"Oh Kami, no. I needed to make sure to sever the connection between you and Sesshomaru permanently. That is the only reason that vile being touched me... well, you." Koyoko stared into the mirror feeling broken. She and Sesshomaru no longer shared the connection? It was shattered? They hadn't even had more than a day or two together.. and she had no one to blame but herself. If she had just listened to him.. she clenched her eyes shut.
"Oh don't feel too bad. I plan on reuniting you two." Kaguya smirked, continuing. "Well, I'll be reuniting with him, I suppose. And don't worry. I'll let you watch. I'm sure he has a lot of built-up frustration and tension he needs to take out on me." Kaguya winked and looked back. "Ahh, I sense a very strong presence approaching. I'll bet you that's him." Koyoko stood, a dark expression covering her face.
"He'll see right through you. He won't fall for this." Koyoko shook her head, trying to hold back tears so that Kaguya wouldn't see her cry.
"Ah, my dear. But you see he will, because he is a man. And men are weak, especially when it comes to women. He's shown his weakness to you plenty of times before. Who could be better as the last man to add to my sacrifice as the most powerful demon of this time?" Kaguya smirked and held two fingers in front of her mouth while chanting. "There. Now he won't see you." The mirror changed in front of her to look like a regular old mirror just sitting on a dresser. "Looks like things are falling right into place." She smirked before standing up, perking up her breasts in the dress she was wearing. It was an elegant kimono, but she definitely wasn't worried about being modest in any way.
Back in her own personal hell, Koyoko did everything she could to break through the spell that Kaguya set. "Let me out! Someone hear me, please! Sesshomaru! Anyone!" She cried out, banging on the white mirror in front of her. "No... please. Sesshomaru don't fall victim to her tricks..."
Kaguya knew that Sesshomaru would be wary of her. Thankfully she was able to cut that little twerp Koyoko off before she gave her away. Burying took so much energy and magic from her, Sesshomaru would be the perfect replenishment. The demoness tried to mask her excitement. She had tried many times before in her own body to seduce him and much to her dismay, she failed. Kaguya checked one more time and made sure, and yes, she was utter perfection. Kaguya smirked at her reflection.
With Koyoko's body as a mask, this plan would go without an issue. She slid the door open and made her way into town. "Good evening, Lady Koyoko." A townsperson greeted her, as she smirked. A gust of wind formed behind her and she could smell him. It was a mix of strong musk and nature, and she recognized it from so long ago. She changed her expression before she felt a pair of strong hands grab her and spin her around. The claws digging softly into her skin.
"Koyoko..." The familiar deep voice said and she turned to look at him.
"S-Sesshomaru.. you found me.." She slowly looked up to meet his eyes and saw his insanely pissed off expression.
"Kami... Koyoko, what the hell?" His deep voice said harshly, yet quietly and he let out a short sigh and hugged her, tightly. Kaguya honestly thought he might break her back. "Why did you hide from me? Why have you shut me out?"
"I.. don't know.. I guess I was ashamed I didn't find the answers I was looking for, and Naraku getting to me..."
"God damn, Sesshomaru! You couldn't wai-... Koyoooo!" InuYasha dashed up with Kagome on his back who let out a squeal.
'Great.. he brought the whole calvary...' Kaguya tried to mask her disappointment. "Kagome... InuYasha! How great to see you..." She grunted as they both closed in and hugged her.
"Oh Koyoko, you're okay! I'm so glad!" Sango said happily as she and Miroku landed softly on the ground after climbing off Kirara. Miroku sneaked his way over to Koyoko and was getting ready to cop a feel before he noticed Sesshomaru glaring right at him. Not willing to tempt fate, he laughed nervously and backed away.
"Let's go find somewhere to talk, shall we?" Kagome offered, and Kaguya led them to her room. "We have so many questions!"
"This is... so nice! How are you able to afford all this?" Sango admired the mahogany wood in the room and sat down on a small chair nearby the door.
"Well, I've been fighting demons off for the villagers. They've been so accepting and kind.. which is part of why I haven't come back." Sesshomaru went from staring out into the woods, to sharply turning his head to look at her. "I.. felt bad. They have a terrible demon problem. Also, I couldn't figure out how to fix the communication problem since Naraku severed it." She frowned. While in reality, Kaguya had mind-controlled the innkeeper to give her the room for free. She had worked her way around the town, tricking them and winning them over to help her with her ruse. Kagome was looking around the room, taking everything in. She noticed the shawl that Koyoko had worn before and picked it up.
"Wow.. this is beautiful and so sheer." Then her brows furred together in confusion.
"What's wrong, Kagome?" InuYasha peeked over her shoulder.
"This feels strange.. to me..."
"Ah yes... I umm.. found that at the place where Koga tricked me into going." Kaguya frowned. "One of the village leaders told me it belonged to Kaguya, so I'm holding onto it. Hoping someone will spot it and be able to give me more information."
"How... did you get away from Naraku?" Sesshomaru asked, seriously and quietly. The room went deathly quiet. Everyone's eyes were on them, as Kaguya stood and walked over to Sesshomaru. She looked at him seriously and placed a hand on his face.
"He... did what he did..." Her eyes began to tear up.
Behind the glass of the mirror, Koyoko was watching everything. She seemed to be the only one who saw Kaguya for who she truly was. She could see the darkness radiating off of her. She banged on the mirror a few times, hoping, praying she could make something happen. Maybe someone would hear her, or the mirror would fall.. anything.
Strangely enough, Kagome looked around, confused. She even looked directly at the mirror and furred her brows together again, before InuYasha silently bumped into her. Possibly asking her what was wrong? But Kagome looked back at him and shook her head.
Koyoko sighed and continued watching furiously and hopelessly.
"And then when it was all over. He said he did what he needed to do, and did the damage he intended. Then he just left me."
"That.. doesn't sound like Naraku." Miroku frowned. "To have the person prophecized to kill him in his grasp and then just let them go?" He scratched the back of his head confused. "Do not get me wrong, I'm very pleased that you're okay. Just confused."
"Well, Koyoko has no reason to lie to us." Sango smiled. Kaguya smirked back at her. Kagome noticed the way Sesshomaru was staring at Koyoko and cleared her throat.
"Well umm, let's go explore the village a little, hm? Let's let these two lovebirds have a little time to themselves." Kagome winked at Koyoko. "Plus we need to find our own rooms. This room is huge but I don't want to impose on Koyoko."
"Good idea..." Kaguya whispered. She connected eyes with Sesshomaru and looked away. She had to focus and remember she was acting as Koyoko. At least until she seduced Sesshomaru. Then it was time to unleash her plan. Kaguya waved as they filed out and then sat on the corner of the bed. Sesshomaru was standing at the sliding door, his hand resting on the doorframe, staring out at the trees. "You're very silent."
He was silent for some time before turning to look at her. "I need to understand something. You acted so strongly that you wanted to mate, and then the day after you just disappear. Before that happened, you were gone for almost a month." Kaguya sighed. She didn't have time to nor want to deal with this relationship drama.
"What's so confusing? I'm here now and I want to make it up to you." She stood and walked over to him, grabbing his hand. "For as long as you want." She smirked, trying to pull him over to the bed. He instantly snatched his hand away and glared over at her. Kaguya glared at him. "I could have died, you know, when Naraku had a hold of me. If I didn't just..." her voice broke, "take it.. who knows what might have happened!" Sesshomaru's eyes turned red with the blue irises as he rushed to stand right in front of her. Kaguya could feel the heat radiating off of his body in anger.
"If you hadn't left in the first place, none of this would have happened. Our bond is broken, and you don't even seem to care. These are the consequences of your actions, Koyoko. I do not even know if I can fix this."
On the other side of the mirror, Koyoko frowned watching the exchange. She was happy Sesshomaru didn't seem to be in the mood for anything sexual. But her guilt was running rampant. "I'm so sorry, Sesshomaru.." A tear escaped her eye and slid down her cheek. Kaguya's glance wavered from the mirror back to Sesshomaru's face.
"I apologize, okay? I just wanted answers. Not like you were going to be able to give those to me." Kaguya scoffed and sat down on the edge of the bed and crossed her arms over her chest. "Sorry that you missed out on sex for a few months." She rolled her eyes. Sesshomaru's eyes narrowed as he grabbed her throat and forced her to stand back up.
"Is that what you think this is about?" He asked sharply. She simply stared him down, her face stoic. "You should know better than that by now."
"InuYasha.." Kagome was walking through the village with the group, all the while she couldn't stop thinking about the shawl, and the mirror. There were kids running around, giggling, holding paper lanterns. She stopped in her tracks and InuYasha turned to look at her.
"Hm?" He asked. "What's wrong?"
"Did Koyoko seem off to you?"
"She was a little off about a few things.. but think about what she's been through. That'll change someone." Sango frowned.
"I... when I touched that shawl, I had a strange feeling come over me. Like I couldn't move or breathe, and then I had a flash of a vision. And when I looked at the mirror, I saw what looked like Koyoko trapped in it for a second, and then it flashed away." Kagome looked up at InuYasha who stared at her for a second.
"I mean, you saw Koyoko there in her room. Maybe she was just giving you visions of what happened to her while she was in captivity?" Miroku asked.
"I mean, she didn't smell any different to me..." InuYasha shrugged, breathing in deep and then shaking his head. "I think Sesshomaru would have noticed if it wasn't her, Kagome."
"And I didn't sense any demons nearby," Miroku assured her.
Kagome looked back at the inn and frowned. "I just want to go ask her a question.."
"Awww c'mon you don't wanna interrupt them. Kami only knows what they're doin'." InuYasha scowled and kept walking. Kagome shook her head.
"That's my friend, InuYasha. Something isn't right. I'll be right back. Stay here!"
"Who are you?" Sesshomaru glared, tightening his grip on her neck.
"I'm... Koyoko..." Kaguya struggled to answer as she could feel the bones in her neck cracking, and he slammed her into the wall behind her, dropping her.
"You are not my mate. Who. Are. You?" He pulled out the Bakusaiga. Kaguya laughed and it changed from sweet like Koyoko's to a deeper, witches cackle, while kneeling on the ground, and when she looked up at Sesshomaru, her eyes were no longer merlot colored, but a deep cerulean.
"I'm curious, how did you figure it out?" She slowly stood up, holding out her arm to the shawl as it quickly flew to her body. Sesshomaru jumped towards her and she flipped over him, transforming into her red outfit. Her hair now glowed teal in the daylight, and her skirt was long, maroon and purple that draped onto the floor. Her top was almost a bikini top, but was purple over her breasts with red outline, and a shawl/cape that covered her shoulder that acted as an armor over her shoulders and also draped onto the floor. On her wrists, there was a hard armor that was a deep purple with red outline, that came up to halfway up her forearm. Finally, in her hair were three golden pins.
"Where is she?" He glared and she held her hand out to the mirror which floated out to her.
"As you can see, her body is right here." Kaguya held two fingers in front of her mouth and she chanted and Koyoko's face slowly appeared. Koyoko gasped when Sesshomaru looked down to the mirror, and his eyes brightened as though he could actually see her!
"Koyoko!" Sesshomaru growled and looked back at the witch.
"Sesshomaru!? Can you hear me?"
Luckily, Kaguya was so distracted with messing with Sesshomaru she didn't hear Kagome quietly run up to the room. Kagome stood behind the sliding door and listened to the transaction.
"Free her, or I will kill you."
"You are more than welcome to. My soul will go back into my abyss, but your mate will be lost forever. You see, her soul is trapped in here, where I used to be." Kaguya tapped the mirror and held it against herself proudly. "But all I have to do is wait for another Celestial being to appear in, oh I don't know.. another two, three hundred years? The only one who can free her is me. And I'm not about to do that." She smirked backing up to the door. In her hand, a huge white orb began to form, and Sesshomaru's eyes widened again. He began to say something, and Kaguya sent the huge white orb flying at Sesshomaru, who dodged it by a hair. When he looked back, Kaguya was gone, and so was the mirror.
"Shit.." He whispered. But at least he knew that Koyoko was okay for the time being. Kagome stepped out from her hiding place and Sesshomaru looked at her, glaring.
"I knew something wasn't right..." Kagome whispered, looking at where the mirror had been. "We have to rescue her Sesshomaru." Sesshomaru was silent for a moment and bent down to pick up one of the golden pins that had been in Kaguya's hair.
"We will." He stared down at the pin, and tucked it away. "She will not get away with this..."
InuYasha growled as he impatiently tapped his foot on the ground, and his ears twitched. "This is bullshit! Why in the hell did I listen to her!? Let's go-" His ears perked up as he looked towards the entrance of the village. "...it's Naraku."
"What? He must be here after Koyoko!" Sango grimaced, and cracked her knuckle. Kirara was covered in flames as she transformed and Miroku and Sango hopped onto her back. Sango's hand tightened around her Hiraikotsu strap. "Let's go."
"But Sesshomaru-" Miroku looked back towards the inn.
"There's no time! I'm sure he can sense him just fine." Sango nodded.
"I can't wait to get my fuckin' hands on him." InuYasha darted towards where he sensed Naraku.
Sesshomaru zipped past the others, and Kagome ran out after him towards her friends. Sesshomaru had grown familiar with this presence, and was tearing through woods. His speed knocked over trees and broke through bushes. He was going to get answers about how to rescue Koyoko from that demon witch and then rip Naraku's heart right out of his chest. He growled deep in his throat as Koyoko's misery played through his mind again once more.
He looked up and saw one of Kagura's fans dancing towards him, and he easily dodged it. "You fool." He growled callously. Unfortunately for him, killing Kagura would not cause Naraku any pain, so there was no sense in wasting his time with her.
"Have you come to play again? I know you are no longer bonded to that wretched girl." Kagura floated on her feather above him and smirked.
"Hiraikotsu!" Sango's huge weapon hurled towards Kagura, almost slicing through her, as Kagura last-second dodged the attack. She sighed.
"Looks like we will have to postpone this reunion for later Sesshomaru." The others ran up behind Sesshomaru who took off past Kagura towards where he sensed Naraku.
"We need to follow him, InuYasha." Kagome spoke almost in his ear and he nodded.
"Go! We can handle Kagura." Miroku nodded as Sango jumped up to grab Hiraikotsu and Miroku started to unwrap his hand. "Who knows how long Naraku will show his face? Finish him." Sango hurled Hiraikotsu at the wind witch again.
InuYasha stared at the two for a second before nodding and running off after Sesshomaru.
"Damnit, Sesshomaru. Don't do anything stupid before we get there.."
"Koyoko..." Had she fallen asleep? "Koyoko..." A woman's mystical voice called out to her. That voice wasn't Kaguya, so who was speaking to her? She looked around and noticed she wasn't in the darkness anymore.
"The hell...?" There wasn't anything around except a large tree next to her, and she was laying on some grass that poked through her kimono. She winced at how bright it was and rubbed her eyes.
"Did you have a nice nap?" Koyoko slowly stood up, and an almost see-through woman was standing in front of her. She rubbed her eyes again and took a good look at her.
The Kaguya who was out there parading around as Koyoko could barely pass for her, but this woman... "You're not the Kaguya out there ruining my life, so you must be..."
"The real Kaguya, yes." The woman gave her a small smile. Her smile was so much kinder than the Kaguya that Koyoko had met previously. She had long, jet black hair much like herself and beautiful gray eyes. Her skin was a pearly white and had perfect red painted lips. Kaguya was wearing a thin white kimono, that had pink cherry blossoms scattered throughout it.
"Oh thank Kami. I thought I would never meet you." Koyoko let out a sigh of relief and collapsed to the ground. Kaguya folded her dress at the knees the way a geisha would and sat gracefully next to her. "I have so many questions."
"Well, that is why I'm here, so I can help you. This may be our only opportunity to talk." Kaguya's voice was soft and sweet. The exact opposite of the fake Kaguya out there.
"So where am I right now? This feels so much different than where I was in the darkness."
"Right now, your soul is in the celestial dimension. This is a "highway" of sorts, to put it in terms you would understand. The darkness you were in, was well... a limbo..." Kaguya frowned. "I am... sorry to be the one to tell you this, but you are... dead. I'm speaking to your soul right now. If your friends can not restore you to your body and your body dies, you will come with me."
"I'm...dead?" Kaguya nodded, giving her a sad smile.
"Yes... it was not supposed to happen this way. No one had expected Kaguya to intervene, but here we are." There was a slight disdain in Kaguya's voice, but her spirit remained light.
"So how will they bring me back? They don't even know that I'm dead. I don't even think they know where I am."
"Your friend Kagome has an idea." Kaguya sighed. She bit her lip slightly and looked back at Koyoko. "I shouldn't be telling you this, as most of the celestial beings don't approve of your relationship. But..." She sighed again. "Sesshomaru will know what to do. There is a reason you two are drawn to each other. He is destined to be your protector."
As the presence grew stronger, Sesshomaru pulled Bakusaiga out of the sheath.
"I was wondering when I would see you again." Naraku chuckled. He appeared out of the darkness and sent a tentacle Sesshomaru's way.
"You are going to regret that decision." Sesshomaru slammed the Bakusaiga down on the tentacle, sending a burst wave towards Naraku through the tentacle. Naraku grunted as it hit him, but shook it off.
"Is your mind consumed by what I did to your former mate?" Naraku smirked, standing back up. "You should know that I enjoyed every second of it."
Sesshomaru felt his body growing hot again with rage, and was starting to become blind to everything except anger.
"WIND SCAR!" InuYasha ran up, slamming the Tessaiga down, sending the waves of slicing wind towards Naraku.
"You...!" Naraku grimaced as he dodged the attack.
"What does Kaguya want with Koyoko, Naraku? Why does she have her damn body?" InuYasha glared, holding the Tessaiga out in front of him.
"What we all want. To take over the planet." Back in the woods behind them, Kagome stood behind a tree, watching. She was waiting for the right moment, with her bow in hand. InuYasha taunted Naraku some more.
"Seeing as how you two aren't together. I am assuming she tricked you into falling in line with her plan." Naraku scoffed. More and more tentacles grew from his body. How dare these fools insult him in such a way?!
"NOW!" InuYasha cried out. "Kongosoha!" InuYasha slammed his sword down as a powerful attack, similar to Wind Scar flew at light speed towards Naraku and Kagome nodded, pulling back a bow and arrow. Sesshomaru turned to look at both of them.
"This better work.." She closed one eye, and then both as the arrow started to glow, "ha!" and she let go of the arrow as it flew at Naraku. Sesshomaru turned back towards Naraku as time began to slow. The Bakusaiga in his hand started to glow a light color.
"Koyoko.." He very quietly whispered and rushed over to Naraku who was slow-motion crying out in pain from the barrage of InuYasha and Kagome's attacks. "You will never know how much pleasure it gives me to be the one to finish you off.." Sesshomaru stood in front of the demon he detested so for a second longer before jumping up and slamming Bakusaiga down on Naraku as he heard a woman's voice chanting in his head, and a bright white light came from the attack, sending him flying backward in real-time. Things were no longer slowed down, and Naraku screamed out as his whole body started to bubble up and exploded into millions of little Naraku pieces, which then slowly faded away. Sesshomaru heard everything that happened but continued to lay back against the tree that he was flung against. 'He had no answers...'
Sango and Miroku ran up with Kirara in tow soon after, seeing the aftermath. "What happened? One second we were fighting Kagura, feeling like we were going to lose and then she just started screaming in pain and then exploded!" Miroku asked excitedly.
"I... I think we just killed Naraku.." Kagome whispered as she kneeled next to InuYasha, who had a pretty bad burn along his stomach and chest from the explosion. He grunted, standing up.
"There's no damn way it was that easy. Plus, don't we need Koyoko for that shit?" InuYasha asked, and Sesshomaru held up his sword.
"Koyoko was here for it... Her power was in my sword..." Sesshomaru added quietly, staring at the sword.
"So... so that's it then?" Sango asked. "Now we just need to go find Koyoko and rescue her." Sesshomaru couldn't describe it, but he had a horrible feeling in his gut. He stood, and pushed past the others.
"We will restock in the village and then leave."
"Whaaa- but how do you even know where to go?! Kaguya just disappeared!" Kagome jumped up and pulled on Sesshomaru's sleeve. He quickly ripped his arm out of her grasp and glared at her.
"Do you doubt me?"
"N-no.." She said quietly and shook her head.
They silently made their way to the village. InuYasha was scouring his brain for how this was possible. He still didn't really believe that Naraku was gone. Why would he? He had tricked them so many times before, and this was so... anti-climactic.
After stocking up on supplies, they decided to eat at a small cafe before leaving. Everyone was silent, and the servers were anxious about serving them with Sesshomaru in their presence.
"Kami! What is taking them so long?! It's been nearly an hour!" InuYasha slammed his hands down, and Kagome glared.
"InuYasha, be patient! Jeez, what is wrong with you?!" As InuYasha jumped up and practically ran out of the room, pushing through the beaded door. "What the-" He looked out of the room and nearly everyone was frozen in time, stuck in whatever they were last doing.
"W-what is that?" Kagome backed up, as she saw a pink glowing light moving along the floor, heading towards them. "We need to go, now!"
"Destined to be my protector? What in the hell does that actually mean?" Koyoko shook her head.
"Language, please." Kaguya sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "That means that he will do whatever it takes to protect or rescue you. Just as every living being has an instinct to keep themselves alive, his instinct is to keep you alive."
"But he failed. I'm dead. So what makes you so sure that I can still come back?"
"Your body is not dead. Until you take care of your mission, he will have a neverending urge to keep you safe. He will know how to restore you to your body when the time comes."
"Take care of my mission, as in destroy Naraku?" Kaguya sighed and shook her head.
"This is the problem with mortals. They never see the big picture and take everything so literally." Kaguya looked into Koyoko's merlot colored eyes deeply and continued. "I can see in your mind that you know who I am talking about. Daisuke."
"Daisuke? You mean the person that you were battling in the legends?" Koyoko bit her lip. "Isn't he like stuck on the moon or something? How am I supposed to defeat him?"
"Actually." Kaguya reached forward and placed both hands on Koyoko's head, making her gasp. "You've known him your whole life." Koyoko blinked as she had flashbacks to almost every single memory she had with Daichi.. Daichi..Daisuke. How could she be so foolish? Once she learned about Daisuke, she should have known. Daichi had always radiated evil to her, and now everything made sense. And those eyes... if she had just turned them purple, they were the same eyes.
Why he had always demanded to be by her side, why she could never go anywhere without him, why he had always demanded to take over the Yakuza and make her his bride... it was all a setup.
"Wait so, if I've known him forever, why didn't he try to kill me when I was younger, before all this happened?"
"That... I do not know. We were worried when we saw that he had found you at such a young age, that he would try to destroy you. I can only assume he wanted to try to absorb our power for himself. You are the first reincarnation that he has found in almost a millennia."
"So I'm not actually meant to defeat Naraku... I'm meant to defeat Daisuke."
The team ran as far as they could to outrun whatever it was that was making people freeze in time, but eventually they grew tired of running, and it caught up.
"We can't just outrun this forever..." Sango yelled over the wind.
"She's right InuYasha, we need to face whatever this is." Kagome grabbed onto his shoulders, and InuYasha grimaced looking behind him. Was this the end? They defeated Naraku and then would just get turned into stone statues?
So he stopped.
He stopped and turned to face whatever this magic was. Sesshomaru sneered, seeing those foolish idiots stopping.
Miroku, Sango, InuYasha, and Kagome all winced as the line crossed over them... but somehow they weren't frozen in time! Kagome gasped, as she saw a bandaid on her leg glowing, and the bandage she had wrapped around InuYasha's chest glowed through his haori. The others had similar objects given to them by either her or Koyoko and they were glowing as well.
"Hey Sesshomaru!" InuYasha yelled, and Sesshomaru jerked his head back to look at them. Those idiots weren't...frozen? He apprehensively landed on the ground, and waited as the line also crossed over him. His sword glowed, and a photograph that he had taken of Koyoko from her time burned against his chest. They were also glowing a bright white color.
"These items from your time are protecting us, Kagome!" Miroku smiled, staring in disbelief.
