"And do you, Asher of the house of Eckbert, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
This was the redo. This was the time there would be no fire. This would be the time I didn't have to lie anymore. This was the time when it would go the right way. This time it would be perfect. This time I had no hesitation. After a month of recovering, the overturning of a massacre, the endless apologizing, and the continual urge for people to not call me princess, I would finally get my happily ever after. The real one.
Almost too eagerly, I said, "I do!" Immediately, Roden held me in a kiss, and I kissed him right back. I heard of the more elderly couples speak of how the happiest day of their life was their wedding day. At that moment, I was certain that none of them could have possibly had a happier day than this day was.
Not So Happily Ever After
(at least, for now)
