I Don't Own Harry Potter
I was humming at the moment as I stirred the potion in the cauldron in front of me, it was a slightly complex potion, nothing crazy, then again I've been told my scale of what is crazy is a bit not accurate in any sense of the word. Still anyway, back to the potion, it wasn't any complex one no matter what anyone else says about it. Just a blood replenishing potion with a few changes from both me and Blaise messing around with some of the more commonly complex potions.
He's even taken to get a book, which he forced me to enchant I might add to both write what he says down and to be much bigger than it looks so it can hold a lot more pages that it should, and had begun to right down his own personal changes to some potions, it's like he's making his own half-blood Prince potions book. Not that he knows what that is but I do and that's all I need for that reference to make sense.
Anyway, the reason why I was now finishing this potion in question is because I need to be able to replenish some blood, that might be a bit obvious but the amount of potions I and Blaise brew for people that aren't me or him or even the brokers is a ratio of at least one to twenty. So me actually brewing something for my own use is a bit of an oddity. As for what I need this potion for, well, I need some of my blood for some things, obviously, and even if I won't be killing myself via bleeding out, it still isn't going to be pleasant.
Thankfully the dementors were removed a while ago so that's good, I was becoming a bit use to the constant feeling of dread and I'm certain that isn't a good thing. It's also why I waited so long as I didn't feel like stabbed or cutting myself when I've come close to experiencing my worst memory every other day, that sounds like a great way to give myself a panic attack.
So with that, I picked up a large sized phial and dipped it into the finished potion with a pair of clamps so I didn't get any on myself. Repeating the process a couple times, I set the last of the potion in the cauldron into the last phial and then casted a quick scrubbing charm on it to rid it of excess potion. After a few moments to clean off my station, I sighed to myself before reaching up to the back of my head and pulled my hair out of the ponytail I had put it in so it wouldn't fall in my face.
Shaking my head around a bit to get my hair to fall back into proper order, I then reached over and picked up my ritual dagger that was off to the side and looked at it for a long moment before slicing the blade across the pad of my thumb and watched as blood quickly flowed out of it. Setting the dagger down, I picked up a few vials in my right hand and pressed the opening in it to my bleeding thumb and watched as they were slowly filling up.
After more than a good, even dozen were filled up, I then set those in a vial rack I had transfigured up before I started to bleed myself out a small bit. With those in place I healed my thumb with a quick wandless 'Episkey'. Still haven't figured out nonverbal basic healing but hey, wandless is pretty bloody good as well. Still with that, I reached over and downed one of my blood potions as quick as possible, sadly they didn't actually taste like blood..That's not a sentence I thought I'd ever think of today, huh.
Still, with that, I took a deep breath in as I picked up my dagger again before sticking out my tongue and sliced it across. Filling the blood fill my mouth, I spat out the first glob blood and then got back to work with filling my vials up once again. This wasn't really bringing up good memories even if my sense of taste has changed a bit since the last time I waterboarded my self with my own blood. It probably doesn't help that this isn't even the second time this has happened to me.
Doesn't change the fact that the second I was done, I healed my poor tongue and got rid of the blood, something about the fact that it's mine takes away from the fact that I usually don't mind and some times even enjoy the metallic taste in my mouth. Though I don't think the fox part of me really cared to be honest so that's something I guess. Still with that, I now had twelve vials of my own blood, two set of both I'll be needing soon enough though.
I have about two months before exams start up and in that time I'm planning on becoming an expert on blood magics, it took a long while and a lot of in between line reading with a lot of research into runes and even more research into rituals and I believe I've figured out how to use blood magic without it's only use being to hurt and or kill. It's a very good way to bind stuff to a singular person. Basically, I'm about seventy percent sure I've figured out how to make blood wards, so that's neat.
Though of course that's going to take a long time and a lot of experiments but it would certainly be good to learn about this combination branch of magics. So with that, I started to pick up the blood vials and began to place them in different places in my robe pockets, most of which at this point had been enchanted with some interesting types of expansion charms and a bit of runic magic, which that alone I might add took a full month and three sets of robes to figure out.
One great thing about this year is that there was no real stress in it, this was a great break year for me to be honest. And because Sirius is free and the dementors are now gone everything has been going pretty good for me, I got a lot of time to go back to my experimenting and I even in the last month manged to figure out the basics of both blood wards and a lot more about warding.
Turns out a lot of the general principles of enchanting and wards are similar with some clear differences, for one, enchanting is mostly wand work, and wards are a lot more inscribing on stuff with runes. Enchanting is normally about everyone can use an item with the correct knowledge usually, unless you're me and I make it so it only works for certain people, something I'm not actually sure how I managed without using any blood magic.
Well more like annoyed at myself as because if I used blood magic I would have sped up the process by at least a full two days. Anyway moving on, wards work a lot more an a 'if' bases. Like, 'if' male: True, then that person can't get past the wards on the girl dormitories in Gryffindor tower. It's like programming but it's in an ancient language, involves a lot of hand eye coordination, extreme skill and control, and with the added side effect that if one thing is wrong the whole thing has a high chance of blowing the fuck up.
So with those slight differences in mind, I've learned a good bit more about making wards, really they aren't all that complex once one gets an encyclopedic knowledge on ancient languages. I'll be honest, out of the last month, that's really what took up most of my time, does anyone know how hard it is to learn Norse, Greek, Latin, Old English, and Elder Futhark the last I didn't even know has a thing before I came to this world. The answer is very hard and I totally cheated with some basic ritual magic.
Anyway, on a side note, I can't speak any of them at the moment, I didn't exactly have the 'blood of the knowledgeable tongue' to use to bind the speaking language to my own tongue like I did with Parseltongue. Still, I have multiple dictionary of these languages in my head and being able to translate to English is good enough for me right now. Also on a side note, forcing hundreds of thousands of words into one's head can lead to very bad migraines when you rapid fire five languages back to back.
So with all that in mind, basically what I'm saying is I've learned a good bit about runes. I've simplified it a bit mentally to make sure I'm not melting my head every time I dive deep into mental calculations about about runic arrays, it helps keep everything in a nice simple bow that doesn't make me want to throw something. Basically, runes are enchantments that effect an area instead of an item.
That's not exactly completely correct but it's a very good assessment at the very least which is good enough for me at the moment. Still, now for the reason why I spent the last full month on just one single project, which is not like me at all, but with the amount of side things needed, it felt more like rally race of projects all culminating into one singular goal.
That goal is all on the item in front of me, a small hand bag, really it was just a up-sized coin purse. And it took days of trail and error, full days mind you, in total, I probably spent over two hundred hours or a bit over eight straight days of ritual casting, runic making, and enchanting with the use of blood magic on this one singular item. And if that sounded complex, good, then you might understand my struggle.
The thing still seemed to only be working on a hair thread, but basically what I did was I made a bag of holding... Ok yeah, I could have also just casted a expansion charm on the item and be done with it, like I did with the robes I was currently wearing but that would both me boring and not as cool as to what I actually made. Expansion charms can waste away after a while, charms aren't meant to be permanent after all.
This, though however fragile, will last to the end of eternity, probably, hopefully. And this had a lot of fun and infuriatingly difficult to implement features, for one, with a lot of enchanting and blood magic, I can summon the thing from anywhere. I tested it a few times and basically it acts like I can use Accio on it at anytime ever. Of course it has to be nearby enough for it to be effective, and with a large amount of said blood magic with using some wards as a conductor, it's bound to me so it only opens when I want it to.
And with the amount of rituals I bound to the bag itself as a way to not interfere with the summoning enchantments by over loading them, I managed to make the thing near indestructible: fire-proof, tear-proof, summon-proof, and in a sleep deprived fit of delusion I also some how bound the Nordic language to it as well. No idea what that did but I have a weird feeling that it made is freezer burn proof as well, no idea how that works but magic is strange like that to be honest.
The only downside is that this is all balance on a thread that could snap at any moment, and I'm sure when everything begins to unravel it might either rip a hole in space-time or a massive explosion. Either way, the bag is current covered in a transfigured box of iron in the very bottom of the Chamber of Secrets. I would have preferred something like tungsten but I have never touched or interacted with the element so I don't know how to transfigure it with any sense of accuracy.
Still, with a few un-breaking charms on the iron block, I doubt the explosion from half a dozen magics imploding on themselves wouldn't be contained. Though, for a first attempt that was successful, it could have been worse, and considering that I figured that the basics of artifact making would take at least a full year of research. Well, the progress I've made was actually pretty good.
Now if only I can figure out a way to stabilize all the conflicting magics and I'll be in the gold, of course considering that's the only thing I have yet to have any idea as to what that could be, well, I have my work cut out for me.
"Ok, stop" I blinked as I stopped mid stride with half a dozen books in hand and turned to look over at Blaise with and then tilted my head at him. Three and a half weeks and he's finally had enough it would seem, I think he was giving me a lot of leeway because I clearly didn't need to study any for the exams unlike everyone else.
"You looked like you haven't slept in days, do you understand that Kyu, you look! I can remember the last time you're charms fell, and sure you made a break through but for the love of Merlin man. You got to give yourself a break every now and again. What's so important that you aren't even in the common room for more than a few minutes a day" I slowed to a stopped before walking over to him with a small look of thought on my face.
"Nothing really, I'm just been having fun playing around with whatever is catching my attention" He blinked at that before placing his face in his hands and let out a long tired sigh before saying.
"You're definition of fun is fucked mate, I've seen some of the books you've been carrying around and nothing in them should be considered fun reading" I shrugged and after a couple moments of false deliberation I sat down next to him and looked at what he was reading, it was a book on what appeared to be transfiguration. Judging from the look on his face, it was clear that he was having a couple problems with something in it.
I don't suppose the reason you stopped me was because you need help and not because of my self-destructive habits?" He swatted at me, to which I just moved out of the way as be grumbled something under his breath about it already being to much of a chore to make sure I'm eating enough and I should be grateful before he finally seemed to stop before sighing and said in a very annoyed voice.
"I just can't figure out why something is easier to transfigure if it's larger to start with and more difficult if the result is smaller than the original" I though about it for a long second to figure out a way to explain it without him complaining about me not making any sense. After a long moment I said.
"It involves the law of the conversation of mass, compressing an item's original matter is easier than spreading it out because..." I trailed off as Blaise seemed to understand where I was coming from as he started to write down something while muttering to himself.
"Because the stretching of an object original properties can destabilize the effects of the spell which can lead to unexpected results. Like a mouse to a box ending up with the box having a tail" He was grinning as he continued to write down some more as I held back a yawn as I'm sure he would just give me a look before trying to shoo me off to bed for something equally asinine.
"Well then, if that's all, I need to see if the Chamber of Secrets is a crater yet" I was in the middle of standing up when he reached out and grabbed my sleeve and stopped me from leaving, looking back at him with a raised eyebrow, I watched as he really wanted to ask what that meant before just tugged me back into my seat and said.
"Nope, you're relaxing with the rest of us mortals and you're going to enjoy it. So sit and be a good fox" I looked at him for a long long moment at that, thinking of all the things I wanted to say to that last comment, to which he just gave me a look, after a moment I just sighed before sitting down next to him again with an air of saying.
"It isn't worth having you follow me around and nag at me, and then listen to you nag me some more for interrupting your studying" He seemed to smirk at that, clearly he was smug about this, but really I didn't have anything else to do and was in fact returning the books he thought I was just getting so the jokes on him, but I'll let him think he's won this round, besides it is good to relax every once and a while, though I'm not all that good at it.
"Now then, since you've decided to stick around for more than two minutes you can tell me what our exams are going to be like, I still have two and a half weeks until the finals start and I'm sure you already know at least some of the exams so spill" I looked at him, really thinking about fucking with him and say something really complex that he would have no idea as to what to do for them, after a moment I just said.
"I can get you a copy of The History of Magic test. Charms is a bunch of practical work on a large number of spells that we've been taught this year. Transfiguration, all I know is that it's inanimate to animal. And that's all I know for sure, the rest either switch up the tests often or it's their first year here" He seemed to be thinking about that for a couple seconds before nodding.
"I should be fine with charms and transfiguration, potions will be easy and the others I should be fine with as well" I just nodded to him as he then looked back down at the transfiguration book in his hands before flipping it to the back where the more technical parts of animal transfiguration could be found. Though from the squinting of his eyebrows it wouldn't be long before he asked me again about it when he decides that he can't be bothered to figure it out with me next to him.
Exams were now over and I got to say they were underwhelming, though I'll be honest, the teachers and other students reactions were a bit amusing to be honest. I think McGonagall went speechless when I didn't even bother to use my wand to transfigure the teapot into a tortoise which was funny, and I think I gave my History class a panic as about five minutes after the two hundred question test was handed out, I turned it back in and Binns didn't even look up at me.
Charms was fine, Blaise complained that he had to use a Cheering Charm on me which he claimed that it didn't do anything and after a bit of arguing Flitwick nodded as he had casted the spell him on me and I'm pretty sure he over powered it considering it took about all of my considerable will power to not so much as quirk my lip up when I said I didn't feel any different as my lungs felt the need to burst from how much I was staining them so that I didn't shout out laughter.
So after I had reaffirmed my status as a 'sociopath' we had DADA, which was fine, I beat the course Lupin had set up in, from the look Lupin gave me, record time. It wasn't all that difficult, with the amount of training and completely unfair fights I've put myself in as practice, a couple small dark creatures were a bit boring to be honest. I also think Blaise is finally truly thankful for all the dueling I make him and the Brokers do with me.
Of course there was the ones that I did well in but wasn't all that interested in explaining, like Herbology and Astronomy. But there was new exams as well, the Muggle Studies one was just an insult both to my intelligence and my status as a muggleborn. Arithmancy was fine, a bit boring as it was practically just basic math for forty minutes with a magical twist to it, which was mostly just chart reading while comparing our personal numbers to the charts.
Fun fact, my character number is eight, my heart is one, and my social is seven, which I have to be honest is a bit weird as from what I rad it was surprisingly accurate but that's not really all that crazy. Anyway, onto talking about the next test, Potions wasn't hard, I think Blaise was trying to do a personal competition for himself on who could finish first. I won, but he was surprisingly close, more than I thought he would be.
Ancient Runes wasn't all that difficult, and by that I mean I was done before some had even figured out what type of rune to start their array with so that's wasn't anything special, considering I spent a month dedicated to that magic art, well if I wasn't an expert at the basics at this point then I would be a bit disappointed with myself. And last up is Care of Magical Creatures, considering I know more about most creatures than I would think I would, it wasn't all that hard but the practical took a surprising amount of effort.
It's because I'm still quite the skinny teen, since I've arrived here I've certainly put on some muscle but compared to a hippogriff, well I could be thrown around like a ragdoll if it wanted me to be which my fox side really didn't was to think about to be honest. Still, I'm a master at expressing myself and as such no one knew any different, not the hippogriffs at least, which was the important ones so I wasn't attacked, and I even managed the creatures quite a bit better than some so it's not like it was that bad.
End of year cramming is different to some people, and for Kyu, well, he delves into completely unneeded parts of magic because why the fuck not. With that the last few months were just him throwing himself even further into madness, because really, who needs sleep. See ya.
