Alright, this next chapter is going to clarify something regarding Shattered Destinies. In that story, I had mentioned that the Republic had captured and imprisoned Salem, and it was more of an offscreen event than I had meant it.

This chapter is going to clarify what happened during those events and actually show the battle that came out of it.

Disclaimer: I do not own RWBY, Metroid, Bionicle, or anything else that appears in this chapter.

The wall of the ancient ruins exploded outward as a beam of energy carved through it, before continuing on and piercing a couple buildings. More explosions erupted as the fight continued, the combatants heedless of the damage being caused.

Once the home of a thriving civilization, these ruins had been abandoned thousands of years ago, the species that created them having succumbed to any number of unknown disasters that claimed young civilizations before they could make their mark in the stars.

Now, all the remained of their passing were the buildings that they had once lived in, the ones that had endured the ravages of time. Though as the current conflict continued, even those remains would likely be wiped away.

A sphere of gold and green rolled through the building, bouncing around like a high speed pinball as dozens of blue energy bolts attempted to hit it. The sphere unfolded into Samus Aran, who promptly returned fire at her doppelganger, catching the Phazon clone in the chest with a charged blast.

With Dark Samus briefly stunned, Samus narrowly sidestepped a blast of powerful energy, before zeroing in on the source and firing Plasma Beam shot. The blast was powerful enough to turn Salem to ash, but the distraction let Dark Samus unleash a super missile at the original.

With enhanced reflexes, Samus managed to knock it away, but she was still too close when the missile detonated. The blast sent her flying, and though she managed to land on her feet, she wasn't prepared for the explosion of fire and ice that erupted at her feet, Salem having regenerated in the intervening time.

"You cost our master dearly." Salem growled, debris from the ground rising into the air at her clenched fist. "And that will cost you, dearly."

Samus knew that she would need some help. Dark Samus alone was one thing, something Samus could deal with, but the tag team of her and Salem meant that she was at a major disadvantage.

Prior to this point, the two had mostly kept on the run, which had now been made clear that it was because they were trying to help the Gravemind escape its confinement. But now that that had been foiled, it seemed that her doppelganger and the Queen of the Grimm were done messing around.

It was time to even the odds.

As Salem was speaking, Samus silently put out a direct call for assistance, knowing that her request would be heard quickly. The war with Teridax and his First Order forces may have tapped into the Republic's armed forces quite heavily, but she knew Mata Nui would spare forces for this.

Meanwhile, Samus simply said nothing to Salem's boasts and responded by casually firing off Seeker Missiles at both Salem and Dark Samus, both of them creating spherical shields to block the damage.

"Is that the best you can do?" Salem chuckled.

"Of course not." Salem turned at the unexpected voice, only to be blasted through a nearby wall by a stream of fire. "She's just stalling you."

Dark Samus immediately turned and unleashed a stream of Phazon bolts at the newly arrived Tahu, only to have them blocked by the shielding of his Kanohi Hau. The distracted Phazon Clone was then sent flying further into the ruins when Samus Speed Boosted into her.

"I see you got my message." Samus noted, even as she avoided Dark Samus' follow up Phazon beam. "Thanks for coming."

"No problem." The Toa of Fire replied, then pointed his sword in the direction of Dark Samus. "Do you need help with her?"

"I've got this." A Super Missile explosion and a scream of pain from Dark Samus punctuated that statement. "Salem is all yours."

Tahu simply nodded and teleported to where Salem had come to rest. The Grimm Witch was brushing debris off her clothes in a disgruntled manner, just as Tahu appeared. She gave a flat glare in his direction.

"That was unpleasant." Salem deadpanned.

"Good to know." Tahu stabbed his sword into the ground, creating a crevice of fire and lava that surrounded Salem. "Because it's about to get more unpleasant."

The heat turned into a massive hand of fire that grabbed Salem from behind and lifted her into the air. Grimacing, Salem unleashed a blast of energy that dispelled the fire hand, gracefully floating in the air.

She tried to crush Tahu with gravity manipulation, but the Kraata-enhanced Toa simply swatted the attempt aside with his own gravity power. A bolt of lightning erupted from Tahu's sword, electrocuting Salem.

Her eyes flared red as she opened the ground up underneath the Toa, swallowing him and entombing Tahu before he had a chance to react. Salem smirked at how easy that had been, a smirk that vanished when the makeshift tomb was melted by plasma and Tahu rose out with gravity.

Now annoyed, Salem telekinetically grabbed several massive boulders and hurled them at Tahu, only for most of them to pass right through him without harm. The last one he simply cleaved in half with his fire sword, before pointing the blade at Salem.

"Is that the best you can do?"

"I haven't even begun to fight." Salem snarled, the weather becoming far more windy and stormy as she spoke.

"You know I can do that too?" Tahu asked, even as he dodged the bolt of lightning that tried to strike him.

To punctuate that, the storm clouds dispersed and focused to the point above Salem's head. A Cyclone appeared around her, but instead of sending her flying, the Grimm Queen remained rooted to the spot, and dispersed the weather phenomenon with a wave of her hand.

"I'd almost be impressed." Salem's smirk returned. "So, you are like Makuta, then." This comparison brought a scowl to Tahu's face.

"I am nothing like Makuta." Before he could say anything else thought, part of a nearby building detached itself from the rubble and struck Tahu in the back, stunning him.

"So I can tell." Salem grinned. "He undoubtedly wouldn't have fallen for that."

Energy gathered in Salem's hands, but before she could unleash it, a jet of water struck her in the side, staggering the Grimm Witch and causing the energy to disperse. Before she could react to that, a strong gust of wind sent her flying in a different direction, which sent her flying in the direction of an explosion of Earth and Stone.

The blast sent her flying straight up into the sky, where a stream of frost struck her and flash froze the Grimm Queen in a block of ice. The ice block fell to the ground, remaining intact as five other Toa appeared from the ruins around Tahu.

"You looked like you needed help, brother." Pohatu said with a grin, while Onua offered Tahu a hand.

"Much appreciated." Tahu admitted, taking his fellow Toa's offered hand and rising to his feet.

Any further pleasantries were interrupted when Salem shattered the ice Kopaka had frozen her in, an expression of annoyance on her face. The Toa Nuva faced her anger head on, none of them even the slightest bit afraid of her.

"It's over, Salem." Gali said. "You can't beat all six of us."

"I beg to differ."

Salem punctuated her statement with an omnidirectional blast of energy that struck the six Toa and sent them all flying into the ruins around them. But just as Salem gathered energy in her hands to try and finish them all off, she was blasted in the head by a beam of energy.

...

Unseen by the Toa or Salem, Samus and Dark Samus' fight continued to rage on. But as their battle continued, Samus noted through the hole in the wall that the Toa were in trouble.

So when Dark Samus was blasted back by a Super Missile explosion, Samus didn't even look as she pointed her arm cannon at the hole and targeted Salem. Her accuracy was dead on.

...

Samus' plasma beam caused Salem to crumble into ash. Her immortality curse was quick to restore her to normal, but this also gave time for the Toa Nuva to recover from her assault.

"Now Brothers!" Gali shouted. "As one!"

Six streams of Elemental power erupted from their Toa Tools, striking Salem at a perfectly timed moment. The Grimm Witch could do nothing but scream helplessly as she was encased in a layer of unbreakable crystalline Protodermis.

After a moment, the Toa Nuva lowered their Toa Tools, leaving the frozen body of Salem completely encased in a Toa Seal.

"Well, that was quick-easy." Lewa commented. As if to punctuate that statement, a loud female scream punctuated by the sound of an explosion emanated behind them.

Tahu quickly teleported them all to the site of the explosion, only to find Samus standing alone amidst these destroyed ruins. The ex-Bounty Hunter turned with her arm cannon raised, but lowered it when she saw who it was.

"I take it you managed to beat Salem, then?" She asked.

"Thanks to you." Onua replied. "Blasting Salem really helped with that."

"Glad I could help." Samus replied, sneaking a peek over their shoulder. "So am I correct in assuming Salem is encased in that Prison of yours?"

"She is." Tahu confirmed, then raised an eyebrow on his mask. "What happened to Dark Samus?"

"She's currently free-floating Phazon particles." Samus shrugged. "Which reminds me, you should probably get Salem someplace more secure before my clone reforms."

"Understood." Tahu nodded, noting that Samus was already turning back to where Dark Samus had undoubtedly gone. "Good luck."

"Same to you." Samus said, before activating her speed booster and taking off through the ruins.

The Toa Nuva were mostly quiet as they returned to the site of Salem's makeshift cage. As soon as Pohatu and Onua had used their powers to remove the floor Salem's cage was under (allowing her to be moved), they summoned a portal and disappeared through it.

Alright, and that was the end of this chapter. A little quick and to the point, I suppose, but still, I felt like it was better to add closure to this part of Shattered Destinies. I certainly think it ties up that little loose end.

With that said, I hope everyone enjoyed this chapter and reviews are always welcome.
