Chapter 5
We arrive in Pixie Hollow and Vidia and I are greeted by our friends, Tinker Bell, Iridessa, Rosetta, Silvermist and Fawn.
"Vidia popped by and told us the news. Are you okay, Becky?" Iridessa asks.
"I'm doing as well as I can, Dess. Thank you."
"Vidia, Becky, your house just got finished. It's near the kitchen, so Becky can start her new job as a baking fairy, under Gelata's wing, of course...uh, that was meant in the proverbial sense." Tinker Bell says.
"Thanks, Tink." Vidia says.
"Come on, guys. Let's get these two lovebirds moved in." Fawn says.
With the help of the moving fairies and our friends, Vidia and I got everything moved into our new house.
I barely sleep that night and Vidia, bless her wings, is willing to stay up with me.
I lean on my wife, not knowing what else to do.
"You doing okay, sweetie?"
"No. How could my parents just kick me out? I just started my business; I didn't even have any customers yet."
"I know, baby. I know. But you don't have to worry about them anymore. They chose to kick you out. You can start a new life. They most likely can't."
"True. Thanks, Vidia."
"For what?"
"For being the best wife ever."
"No, you're the best wife ever. You said what you had to say to make sure we got back into Pixie Hollow."
"Thank you. But you're there for me when I need you to be."
"You're welcome."
We soon go to sleep, enveloped in each other's arms, not knowing what the future will hold for us.
~.~
The next morning, I wake up to feel tears on my face.
I must've been crying in my sleep.
"You okay, baby girl?"
"I don't know." I'm surprised to hear my voice so shaky.
I break down and Vidia doesn't hesitate to wrap her arms around me.
"Shhhh. Shhhh. I'm here, baby girl. Vidia's here."
"I'm so scared."
"Why?"
"Because...because of my chronic pain."
"We'll face it together. You're not alone."
I put a hand to my back, pain flaring up.
"It hurts."
"Shhh. I've got you. I'm going to do everything I can to help you. I promise."
"It's never going to stop. Vidia, it's never going to stop."
"It will. It'll stop eventually."
"I can't handle the pain anymore."
"I'm taking you to a healing fairy. See what she can do to help you."
~.~
"I want you to take two slices of ginger each day. That should help with the pain. Other than that, I'm afraid there isn't anything else I can do."
"Thank you. And I'm sorry I have to quit being a healing fairy. Healing just isn't my talent."
"That's quite alright, dear. I'm glad you discovered your true talent."
"Thank you."
Vidia and I leave the healers.
"You up to doing anything?"
"I do need to go see Gelata. See what time I need to be there for work."
"Fine by me. Meet you in the tea room later?"
"Definitely."
I head off to the kitchen to see Gelata and Vidia goes off to see Tinker Bell.
(Vidia's POV)
I have a plan. I'm planning on proposing to Becky, so we can have a formal ceremony. But first, I need a ring.
"Hey, Tink."
"Hey, Vidia. What's up?"
"I need some help. You see, I'm planning on proposing to Becky...but I need a ring."
"Say no more. Any style in particular?"
"She likes the color purple."
"I'm not surprised." Tink winks at me.
I roll my eyes.
Tinker Bell draws up a golden ring with small diamonds and an amethyst in the middle.
"Tink, it's perfect!"
"Thanks. I'll have it done by tonight. Speaking of, when are you planning on proposing to her?"
"Tonight, at Fairy Tale Theater...I want to make a good impression on her, though."
"You know who could help you in that category, right?"
"Rosetta?"
"Yep."
~.~
(Normal POV)
"Oh, of course I'll help you, Vidia! You proposing to Becky is so romantic! Now, what kind of look were you thinking?"
"Formal, but not too formal. So she won't get suspicious."
"So the Queen's Boutique wouldn't do?"
"No."
"All right, then. I think I know just the dress you're looking for! Come on, buttercup!" Rosetta leads Vidia to Summit Style."
"Hey, Ro! You here to shop again?" Diva Wings, the shop owner, asks.
"Actually, Diva, I'm here to help my friend pick out a dress to propose in."
"Awwww, that's so sweet and exciting. Wait a second, you're Vidia!"
"And your point is...?" Vidia asks, her arms crossed.
"You and Becky changed the history of Pixie Hollow forever by being the first couple to be two fairies or two sparrowmen! Obviously, you're both fairies."
"So, do you have a dress for me or...?"
"I know just the dress." Diva Wings flutters to a rack and pulls out a purple halter dress.
"It's just your size, Vidia! Go try it on." Vidia takes the dress and heads to the fitting room.
Vidia soon comes out of the dressing room, dressed in a short purple halter dress with a bejeweled bodice and a flare skirt.
"Vidia! You look as pretty as a magnolia in May!"
"Thanks, Ro."
"Uh, oh! Looks like someone had the same idea. Here comes your future fiancée, sugar."
"What?! I gotta hide." Vidia quickly darts back into the fitting room.
"Hey, Ro. Shopping again?"
"Yeah. Sweetie, are you okay? Besides being covered head-to-toe in flour, you look like you've been crying. Thinking about your parents?"
"I can't help it, Ro. They were my parents. I just don't understand why they kicked me out…I was their only daughter."
"They just don't understand who you are, sugar cube. But you've got your friends and you've got Vidia to fall back on. I know they were your parents, but, honestly, the way they acted towards you, you're better off without 'em."
"You're right, Rosetta. I just need to forget about them. They're not worth my tears."
"That's the spirit! So…what are you doing here?"
"I need a dress for tonight. I feel like Vidia is up to something, so I wanna be prepared."
"Say no more. I can help you pick something out to wear."
"Thanks, Ro. I want something purple…unless Vidia is wearing something purple."
"Probably, since it's her signature color and her talent's color. But you wouldn't want to wear white, would you?"
"No, of course not. I'll save wearing white for my wedding day."
"Exactly. Maybe blue?"
"Sounds good. Something formal but not too formal."
"I know just the dress!" Diva Wings says.
She pulls a blue dress with a shear top and sweetheart neckline jeweled-lace, and a tutu-like skirt.
"Diva, it's perfect"
"Go try it on, hon!" Rosetta says.
Becky grabs the dress and heads toward the fitting room.
Vidia comes out of the fitting room with the dress on the hanger.
"Phew. She didn't spot me."
"Good. Let's get the dress and get you out of here, Vid."
"Consider it a gift. Good luck tonight, Vidia."
"Are you sure?"
"I'm sure."
"Well, thank you."
Vidia leaves with the dress in a bag.
Soon, Becky leaves as well, the dress a gift to her.
~.~
Vidia heads to Fairy Tale Theater before Becky does, leaving a few minutes before Becky heads out.
"Well, don't you look beautiful." Becky turns and sees Queen Clarion.
"Thank you, Your Highness."
"Any particular reason you're dressed up?"
"I've got the feeling Vidia is up to something, so I want to be prepared."
"Well, good luck tonight, Becky."
"Thank you, Queen Clarion."
"You're welcome."
(Vidia's POV)
I spot Tink by the front of Fairy Tale Theater.
"Hey, Tink!"
"Hey, Vidia. I've got the ring."
"Thanks, Tink. What do I owe you?"
"Consider it a gift. You'll be making history again."
"Thank you, Tinker Bell. Oh, there she is."
"Good luck, Vidia."
"Thanks, Tink." I flutter to my seat, my heart beating wildly.
Becky takes a seat next to me.
"Hey, you. How'd things go with Gelata?"
"I showed her my baking skills and she said I've definitely got promise."
"That's fantastic, Becky!"
"Thanks. What did you get up to?"
"I went dress shopping."
"Oh, really? You didn't happen to go to Summit Style, did you?"
"Maaaaaaaybe. By the way, you look incredible."
"Thank you. So do you."
"Thank you."
Soon, the show starts and ends. I soon head up to the center of Fairy Tale Theater.
"Vidia? What are you doing?" Becky asks.
"Attention, everyone. I have an important announcement to make." Everyone turns to me.
"This fairy, Becky, is one of the bravest and strongest fairies I've ever known. Even though she suffers from chronic pain, she still finds a way to get through the day, and I admire her for that. She may technically be my wife, but we eloped. I'd like to change that. Becky, will you come up here?"
Becky nods and walks up to me. I kneel in front of her.
"Becky, my sweetheart, my everything, will you…will you marry me again? In a formal ceremony?" Becky looks at me with tears welling in her eyes.
"Yes! Yes, I'll marry you again, Vidia!" We kiss and everyone bursts into applause.
