Song lyrics are those of Kenny Chesney – you had me from hello
You had me from hello.
"Ginny, I'm not going out in that!" Hermione Granger snapped, as she stared at the outfit her best friend was holding in front of her eyes. A beautiful gold dress.
"Why not?" Ginny asked quietly. "You'll look beautiful."
If she had thought this was going to help, she had been horribly mistaken. Hermione just glared at her, her tears falling faster.
"It's ok for you Ginny! Harry's by your side, you're with the man you love! Me, I lost him! Even now I have no idea what happened to him! I never even got a chance to say goodbye to him! Before we knew where we were, it was the Final Battle and…" Her voice trailed away.
Ginny put a gentle arm around her friend's shoulders.
"Hermione, I know we don't know what's happened to him, but he'd want you to move on, right? He wouldn't want you to be unhappy."
"That doesn't mean I have to go out in a dress like that! There's only one man I want to look beautiful for and I'll never see him again!"
At that moment, Harry stuck his head round the door of Ginny's room of their little flat. Hermione was sharing with Harry and Ginny, who were now married. Ron was happily engaged to Lavender. The Final Battle had been three weeks ago. All the Weasley's had survived, as well as a lot of Order members.
The battle had been quick. Harry had managed to take down Voldemort pretty easily, due to powerful spells Dumbledore had left in a book for him. It took Harry months, but he managed to grasp them. How he had killed Voldemort so quickly, even now he didn't know. The Death Eaters had tried to flee, but had all been captured.
The Daily Prophet had tried to force Harry into giving them an interview, but Harry steadfastly refused.
Hermione had, however, lost her parents. They had died in a traffic accident a few weeks before the Final Battle. Hermione had been devastated. She didn't think she could ever live again.
However, there had been one thing keeping her going. The man she loved. Their love was supposed to be forbidden, but it didn't stop them. Over the last year, they had groan closer and closer and no one could deny that. Slowly but surely, Harry, Ron and the others began to accept it. Hermione's love was showing a truly different side to himself and was treating Hermione just the way she wished.
"Hermione, that dress is really nice," said Harry's voice, bringing Hermione sharply back to reality. "You'll look wonderful."
Ginny smiled at Harry, he knew how to make people feel good. Even Hermione couldn't help but smile a little.
"Thanks, Harry. But there's only one man I want to look wonderful for and I don't know if I'll ever see him again. The last time he kissed me was just before the battle. He told me he'd come back for me, but…"
Hermione gazed dreamily out the window, once again lost in her thoughts. Hermione Granger had fallen head over heels in love with a man who she never thought she could, or would, ever love. Yet it had happened. Slowly, but surely and neither of them had been able to stop it. He had fallen for her and their relationship had grown from lust and passion, into complete, undeniable, love.
Hermione Granger had fallen in love with Draco Malfoy.
She remembered all too well the conversations, the touches, the tender moments and their kisses. Hermione had not felt ready to take it to a completely sexual level and surprisingly, Draco hadn't pushed her. Even during the times when they'd felt strong lust, Hermione had always managed to pull back. Draco had to admire her for it. She remembered all too well the night when she had told him everything, just hours before the battle.
"Draco?"
"Yes, love?"
He walked over to where she was sitting on the couch and sat next to her and took her into his arms.
"Draco, can I show you something?"
"Anything, Hermione."
Hermione raised her wand and a beautiful song filled the air. You had me from hello, by Kenny Chesney.
"My dad proposed to my mum to this song," Hermione said, a dreamy look in her eyes. "Mum told me. She said it was the happiest night of her life and that was the night she first made love to my dad. Because finally she felt secure, knowing he was serious with her. He wouldn't let her go."
Draco held her tenderly close to him as they listened to the lyrics, as a smile played dreamily across her face.
"Draco?"
"Yes, darling?"
"Do you love me? Will you always?"
Draco took her into such a gentle and tender kiss that Hermione could never doubt his reply.
"Always, my beautiful, dearest, Hermione Granger."
That now seemed an eternity ago, as just hours later they had to fight. Draco had not joined the Death Eaters, he knew he could not, as he had truly fallen in love. He had fought valiantly for the Order, killing his own father.
"Earth to Hermione!"
Hermione blinked. "Ha?"
"Come on, Hermione." Ginny's voice was almost desperate. "Please, just wear the dress, for me?"
Hermione looked into the eyes of her best friend. Ginny was nearly eight months pregnant, but still managed to look gorgeous.
"Gin, I don't know…"
"Come on, Hermione!"
Hermione sighed and reluctantly nodded. Harry quietly left the room, as Ginny helped Hermione into the beautiful gold dress.
"My dad proposed to mum in a dress like this," said Hermione very quietly.
Ginny just smiled. She'd heard this story a lot of times before, but didn't mind Hermione talking about it as many times as she wished.
"Are you ready?" Said Ginny an hour later, after she'd helped Hermione put on just a bit of make up and perfume, plus had charmed her hair.
"I guess so," said Hermione quietly, and then smiled at her friend. "Ginny, thanks."
"You're welcome," said Ginny quietly.
As Harry, Hermione and Ginny set out towards their destination, a big dance club; Hermione couldn't help but randomly wonder how many people knew about her parents deaths. She knew it had really been a car crash, but for some reason, the Ministry thought Voldemort had something to do with it, so it had got into the Prophet. Hermione didn't like that much. Couldn't anyone have privacy after something like that?
The club was not very far away from their flat, so they'd chosen to walk, rather than apporate.
Soon, they had reached the doors and the bouncer was letting them enter. It was absolutely packed. There was a live band on a huge stage and a bar at the back of the room. Harry insisted on getting their first drinks.
"I don't want to drink tonight, Harry." Said Hermione quietly. "I really don't feel up to it. It doesn't solve my problems."
Harry smiled gently at her and she told him she'd just have a coke.
A few minutes later, Harry took Ginny onto the floor for a slow dance. Hermione looked at the happily married couple and felt a twinge of jealousy. Would she ever see her true love again?
After a while, she stood up and walked into the centre of the room. She danced with several men, while ignoring their obvious attempts to flirt with her. She wasn't interested; her heart belonged to one man only.
Draco Malfoy.
The club was so packed; it was hard to tell who anyone was. Hermione saw a blonde haired man standing near her and another man at one point. However, it was too dark to see him clearly.
"Aren't you just after a bit of fun, lady?"
"No," said Hermione quietly. "I have eyes and heart for one man alone."
"Why are you here without him then?" The man smirked.
Hermione felt tears sting the back of her eyes, but held them back.
"I'm here with some friends and…" She trailed off. What the hell was she doing telling a stranger all this?
"He's away on business at the moment."
Or dead, she thought and tried to blink back more tears.
"What's your man's name then?"
Hermione hesitated, unsure whether she should answer. Why not? It wasn't as if she was ashamed of him at all! Hell, she'd jump over a cliff if he said go!
"Draco Malfoy," Hermione said clearly. "His name is Draco Malfoy. The man I love with all my heart, body and soul."
A few minutes later, Hermione joined Harry and Ginny back at their table. She wished she hadn't spoken about Draco; it just made it even harder.
Suddenly, a voice spoke into a microphone.
"Ladies and gentlemen, there is someone in this club who has something very important to say to a very special lady in his life; he's asked if everyone could please give him a few moments of silence?"
The club went quiet instantly. Hermione inwardly groaned. She stood up and headed for the door, when what she heard stopped her dead in her tracks.
"This is for the woman I have always loved and want back in my arms again with all I am. She will know who she is by the song, please, my darling, please come here to me?"
The band struck up a song that she knew all too well and a very familiar, too familiar voice began to softly sing into the microphone. If Hermione had looked, she would have seen the two people sitting next to her were both smiling.
As the song began, Hermione felt tears in her eyes. She loved this song so much for a lot of reasons…
One word, that's all you said
Something' in your voice caused me to turn my head.
Your smile, just captured me
And you were in my future as far as I could see
And I don't know how it happened, but it happened still
You asked me if I love you, if I always will
Well you had me from "Hello"
I felt love start to grow
The moment that I looked into your eyes, you won me
It was over from the start
You completely stole my heart
And now you won't let go
I never even had a chance you know
You had me from "Hello"
Hermione's heart was going crazy! She knew that voice! But did she? Was she dreaming? No! It was him! It was Draco Malfoy! Hermione stared up into his eyes and almost in a trance, hardly noticing where she was going, she walked towards the stage. Everyone was smiling.
Inside, I built a wall
So high around my heart, I thought I'd never fall
One touch, you brought it down
The bricks of my defenses scattered on the ground
And I swore to me I wasn't gonna love again
The last time was the last time I let someone in
But you had me from "Hello"
I felt love start to grow
The moment that I looked into your eyes, you won me
It was over from the start
You completely stole my heart
And now you won't let go
I never even had the chance you know
You had me from "Hello"
Hermione slowly climbed the steps to the stage, shaking. This was some kind of dream, right? Finally, she managed to catch Ginny's eye and saw the huge smile on her friends face. Hermione was close to tears. Slowly, she walked forward.
Draco Malfoy was standing in the middle of the stage, dressed in a suit and tie. Slowly, he reached out for her.
That's all you said
Something' in your voice caused me to turn my head
You had me from "Hello"
You had me from "Hello"
Girl I've loved you from "Hello"
Hermione took a step forward; as the band continued to gently play the song. Draco stepped forward also and enfolded her in his arms. Hermione held back the tears as best she could, but could not. She broke down with joy into his shoulder. Everyone in the club began to applaud. For that perfect moment, no one mattered to her but them.
"I love you so much, Hermione Jane Granger," he said straight into the microphone. Harry and Ginny looked overcome with happiness.
Then, he leant in and kissed her. His lips met hers, gently and lovingly.
"I'm sorry," he said.
Hermione knew instantly what that meant. Sorry about losing each other during the Final Battle, sorry about her parents, everything!
She surrendered completely into his kiss. Draco continued to kiss her, and then stepped back. Everyone in the club gasped, as Draco dropped to one knee. Ginny cheered.
"Hermione Jane Granger, I love you so much, with all my heart, body and soul. I could never imagine life without you, I don't want to. You are perfect in every way to me; I could never love anyone else. My precious beautiful bookworm."
Everyone smiled.
"Please, Hermione Granger, will you marry me?"
He drew out a leather box, containing a beautiful diamond ring. Hermione gasped. He was proposing to her pretty much the way her dad had to her mum! God she did not deserve him! He was so romantic. Quietly, she took the microphone from his hand and spoke one word.
"Yes."
Everyone erupted in cheers. Harry and Ginny ran onto the stage.
"You planned this whole thing, didn't you?" Hermione yelled at her friend. "That's why you made me where that dress!"
Ginny just smiled.
Gently, Draco led her off the stage and towards the doors. The band played through you had me from hello one last time, as Harry, Ginny, Draco and Hermione left the club.
Hermione could not let go of Draco. She clung to him as though her life depended on it and could not stop kissing him tenderly and deeply.
Hermione did not want to let Draco go when they reached the flat.
"Hang on, Hermione. I'll be right back," said Ginny, smiling. Hermione could not answer. She had begun to cry with joy once more. Draco held her tenderly to his side; she refused to let him go.
A few minutes later, Ginny came out with a small bag.
"Here, Hermione. Thought you might need this, as I have a funny feeling you won't want to sleep here tonight. I don't know why but…"
Ginny was cut off as Hermione hugged her tightly.
"I love you, Ginny Potter! I owe you so much! Thank you so much! How did you do it?"
Ginny and Harry just smiled.
"We love you too, Hermione. We managed it because we love you."
Draco tenderly took her close once more.
"What you owe us Mrs. Malfoy, is an invite to your wedding!" Said Ginny, suddenly looking just like her mother."
"Yes, Mrs. Potter." Hermione grinned.
A few seconds later, Draco and Hermione had apporated into Malfoy Manor. With utmost love and tenderness, Draco guided her into their room. Without a word, he helped her out of her beautiful dress and into bed. He climbed in beside her and took her close. Hermione had to blink back more tears of joy.
Draco however saw them and tenderly raised her face up to meet his tender and gentle gaze.
"You're so beautiful," he whispered.
"I love you so much, Draco Malfoy!" Hermione could not hold her tears in any longer. "You have made me so happy; I could never have life without you, ever! You are everything to me and…"
She was cut off by another gentle kiss.
"Hermione Granger, soon to be Malfoy, I love you more than I could ever put into words. You are my day, you are my night. You are everything I could ever dream of and more. I could not have asked for a more beautiful wife."
That was it. That was all the dialogue they needed. With tender kiss after tender kiss, they began to make love, at last.
Two weeks later, Hermione Granger became Hermione Malfoy. The wedding was packed. All the Weasley's, Lavender, the Potter's and some of their other Hogwarts friends, even some of the teachers.
A Minister from the church Hermione's parents had attended married them.
They were married in the Hilton Hotel, London. A place Hermione had always wanted to stay in. There, they were having the wedding, reception and Honeymoon. They were staying there for a month.
Of course, the bride and groom had the first dance. Harry and Ginny smiled at them, as they asked them to come onto the floor.
As the soft piano started up and Hermione felt her husband gently take her close, they both began to sing the song that defined their whole relationship. Right up to this glorious moment. They both knew what it was and that it was the complete truth of the matter. They both sang tenderly into each others ears, as they moved lovingly across the floor, the song and five words that were the truth of there beautiful relationship and of this glorious moment between a newly married and very happy, Hermione and Draco Malfoy.
"You had me from hello."
