A/N: Wow, hello strangers. It's hard to believe it's been over three years since I last updated. So much has happened since I was last on here, and I'm not sure if any of you are still reading this. I honestly wasn't sure if I would ever get back to writing this, but since I'm stuck in quarantine I sat down and wrote a chapter of this, and it just reminded me of how much I love doing it. If any of you come back to read this chapter, I apologize for the excessively long wait, and I promise the next chapter will come much sooner. there's not really much I can say, so here it is, I hope you enjoy it.
Monday, October 24th Transfiguration
Sirius: Moony!
Remus: What?
Sirius: Do you know everything about Morse code now?
Remus: *sighs* No, Sirius. I know a couple of letters, but not a lot.
James: But you're smart, Moony, you should be able to pick up on this fairly quickly.
Julianna: To be fair, Morse code wasn't the only thing we did.
Sirius: *laughs*
Julianna: No! That's not what I meant! I meant that we worked on homework for a good portion of the time.
Marie: Yeah. 'Homework.' That's what they're calling it now.
Remus: Really, guys. All that happened was that we did Morse code for about 20 minutes, then spent the next 40 minutes on homework.
Peter: Whatever you say, Moony.
Remus: Honestly guys, stop being ridiculous! I'm not going to deal with this right now!
James: You're right. Sorry, Moony.
Sirius: Yeah, Sorry.
Peter: Sorry.
James: ANYWAYS…
Lily: Anyways…?
James: How have YOU been, Grace? Have you been good?
Grace: I've been fine. Why do you ask?
James: Oh, no particular reason. Just making polite conversation. You know, I heard that a storm was going to be coming soon.
Grace: Okay… your point?
James: No point. Just conversation. Don't you agree that storms make great cover for sneaking around? It's dark, rainy, lightning enables you to see well enough, and the loud claps of thunder cover up any loud noises you may make.
Grace: What are you getting at here?
James: I wonder if storms would make it easy to sneak away without being seen. Would you happen to know, Grace?
Grace: Okay, I don't know what you're planning here, but keep me out of it, okay?
James: Not planning anything. It was just an observation I happened to make. Just thought I'd share it with you.
Lily: You're acting really weird, James.
Marie: They're always acting weird. It's just who they are.
Sirius: But you know you love us.
Lily: Whatever you say, Sirius.
Sirius: Maybe you could tell us that in Morse code, eh Lils?
Lily: Come on, knock it off! I was in second grade!
Sirius: Which just makes it that much funnier.
Lily: I hate you.
Sirius: No you don't, Lilykins. You know you don't.
Lily: I do.
Sirius: You don't
Lily: I do.
Sirius: You don't.
Lily: I do.
Sirius: You don't.
Lily: I do.
Sirius: You don't.
Lily: I do.
Sirius: Fine. If you hate us so much, why do you continue to pass notes with us?
Lily: …
Sirius: Check. Mate.
Lily: Oh, how I hate you.
James: He got you Lily. You can't argue with his logic there.
Lily: You're terrible. All of you.
Sirius: But you know you love us. ;)
Lily: I'm just going to go. I already barely understand what we're learning.
Sirius: You can't stay away.
Lily: I'm leaving.
James: Okay. Bye.
Sirius: … She'll be back.
James: I know.
Marie: Whatever. Just forget about her.
Sirius: You're right. If she's not passing notes, that means she'll actually understand the assignment later so we can copy her homework.
Remus: I doubt she'll let you copy her homework.
James: I don't get why she doesn't want to pass notes with us anymore. She's been doing it all year and is passing all her classes just fine.
Remus: Maybe because us passing notes sets a bad example for everyone else.
Peter: Guys, I know the REAL reason Lily doesn't want to pass notes with us anymore…
Grace: Oh, really? And tell us, what might that be?
Peter: The real reason Lily won't pass notes with us anymore is because…
James: …
Sirius: …
Remus: …
Marie: …
Grace: …
Julianna: …
Peter: She's in love with Sirius!
Lily: WHAT?
Sirius: Wat
James: NO! *glares at Sirius*
Julianna: It can't be!
Marie: *gasps accusingly* Lily!
Remus: Am I missing something here?
Grace: Yeah, really? Lily in love with Sirius? Is that even possible?
Lily: That is honestly the most ridiculous, absurd, completely INSANE things I have EVER heard in my entire life! Honestly, Sirius Black, of all people-
Sirius: Hey!
Lily: Not to mention the fact that he is dating one of my best friends, do you really think I would do that to Marie? Peter, why on EARTH would you think that?
Peter: I don't. I just knew that would make you come back.
Lily: … I cannot believe I actually just fell for that.
James: I can't believe you just fell for that either, Lily.
Sirius: I can't believe you were so offended by the idea of being in love with me.
Marie: Don't worry Sirius, I think you're pretty great. ;)
Sirius: Awwww :) You're the best Marie ;)
Marie: Not as good as you. *giggles*
Grace: Ugh, get a room you two.
Sirius: Julianna, just let us know if Lily starts declaring her love for me in morse code.
Lily: LET IT GO, SIRIUS! I was in second grade!
James: I, too, was foolish as a child.
Sirius: *snorts* Are you calling Lily a fool?
James: NO! That's not what I meant!
Peter: That's sure how it sounded, Prongs.
James: Noooo….
Remus: There there, Prongs. We know that isn't what you really think.
Julianna: Hey, Lily, Marie, Grace, do you guys wanna do something tonight? I don't feel like being bored again.
Sirius: Why'd you change the subject? We were making fun of James!
Julianna: Hush. I'm trying to make plans.
Marie: I'm down. I'm caught up on everything, I have nothing better to do.
Lily: I was planning on trying to get ahead on some stuff, but after I've gotten a bit done I can.
Julianna: What about you, Grace?
Grace: Sorry, can't. I've got a bunch of homework. So much homework. It'll take the whole afternoon, so I'm not free tonight.
Marie: What homework? We have pretty much all the same classes and I've got nothing.
Grace: It's- an essay. For… uh… potions. Sirius is gonna ruin our potion so I'm trying to get some extra credit.
Sirius: Gonna be pretty hard for me to ruin our potion when I'm making you do all the work.
Grace: I'm not doing all the work!
Peter: Maybe I should try to write an essay for extra credit. I'm gonna ruin my potion.
Grace: Yeah… um, don't be surprised if he says no, the circumstances were very… particular.
James: Oh? And what are these circumstances?
Grace: Oh, would you look at the time! Class ends in 4 minutes, we'd better wrap this up!
Monday, October 24th Muggle Studies
Sirius: Very suspicious how Grace avoided answering our question earlier today.
Peter: I agree. We had a full 4 minutes left. That was plenty of time for her to explain why she deserves extra credit if I don't.
James: That's the thing, Wormtail, I don't think she actually is doing extra credit. *pulls out Operation F.O.W.G.I.A.C.A.O.A.S. notebook* That was just an excuse to throw us off her track.
Sirius: Alright, so what are we thinking this week?
Remus: I'm sticking with what I've been saying. I think that Grace has a boyfriend.
Sirius: *sighs* Moony, Moony, Moony. When will you realize that you simply must open your mind if you want to find the truth?
James: Here's my theory: Grace's super rich father recently died, and she inherited all of his money. She's happy because she's loaded, and the reason she keeps having to avoid stuff is that she's going to spend all her money on stuff, but she can't tell us because she doesn't want to share her fortune with the rest of us.
Remus: You really think she'd be happy if her father died?
James: She doesn't love anyone or anything, except her newly acquired wealth.
Remus: Regardless, that wouldn't explain why she's being nicer to Sirius.
Peter: Maybe Sirius killed her father and so she owes her riches to him.
James: *gasps* Padfoot!
Sirius: Hey! I never killed anyone! You're more likely to kill someone than I am, Wormtail!
James: Pft. Wormtail's the last person who would ever kill somebody.
Sirius: You really think that I would keep this from you?
Remus: No, Sirius, that was a dumb suggestion. Moving on.
Peter: Grace hired a hitman to kill Sirius. She's more cheerful because he'll be dead soon, and she's being nice to him so no one will suspect her. And the reason she's always avoiding stuff if because she's having meetings with the hitman to work out the details.
Sirius: What!? NO! Please, someone tell me it's not true! I'm too young to be murdered, not to mention too beautiful!
Remus: Oh, of course, that's perfectly reasonable. *rolls eyes*
Sirius: No! My life has been so short. It can't be over now- I never even got the chance to do so many things.
James: Padfoot, you have to propose a theory now.
Sirius: How can I, with the knowledge of my premature death hovering above me like a fog?
James: It's really not that deep, I doubt you're gonna die.
Sirius: I am distressed, James! So many regrets!
Peter: I mean, I could be wrong though.
Sirius: You have to be! I'm not ready to die!
Remus: It's okay Padfoot.
Sirius: Maybe… Grace realized that she really likes grapes, because it sounds like her name, and she saw me eating a grape once and realized that I'm not so bad after all, and she spends all her free time eating grapes!
James: …
Remus: …
Peter: …
James: That's the dumbest idea I've ever heard. In my entire life. Like literally, I don't think you've ever said something so stupid. Ever. And you've said a lot of stupid things.
Sirius: I AM IN DISTRESS! I'M NOT READY TO DIE!
Remus: Sirius, calm down. Nobody is plotting against you, nobody is going to kill you. You're. Fine.
James: Why are you so determined to reject that idea before we've even had a chance to consider it, Moony?
Peter: Maybe he's the hitman.
Remus: …
James: No…
Sirius: Moony?!
Remus: *sighs* I am not the hitman, guys.
James: Sounds like something the hitman would say.
Remus: Guys. No one is killing anyone.
Peter: Well, I doubt Moony would lie to us. So we're probably in the clear on that one.
Sirius: AHHHHHHHHHHH!
James: EVERYBODY STOP PANICKING! *proceeds to panic*
Remus: Guys, I'm really not feeling well today, and you are being way too hyper right now.
Sirius: Sorry Moony.
James: Sorry.
Peter: Yeah, sorry.
Remus: It's fine. I'm just tired.
James: Padfoot, now that you've calmed down, come up with a theory that actually makes.
Sirius: Maybe she's doing a competition to get food. She's getting free food, which makes her happy, and because she's happy she DOESN'T want to kill me. And she's never around because she's going out to compete for free food.
Peter: … Yeah, I don't think that's it, Padfoot.
Sirius: Come on, everyone likes free food.
James: I mean… we can work with it, for now.
Remus: Guys, when are we going to stop messing around with this? It's obvious that she has a boyfriend. It's the only explanation that makes sense logically.
Sirius: No, it doesn't make sense. Because no one wants to date her. She's scary.
Peter: I don't know though, maybe someone does.
James: Don't do it Wormtail, she wouldn't be good for you.
Peter: WHAT? No, that is not what I was implying at all!
Sirius: Good. That would be a nightmare.
James: Maybe she got a puppy, and she's spending all the time with her puppy. And she's happier because of it and so being nice to Sirius.
Remus: … Okay. Sure. We can go with that for now.
Sirius: Yeah, I'd agree.
Peter: Okay, so all the ones involving death and murder relating to Padfoot are out, just for our peace of mind.
James: The grape idea was stupid, as is the boyfriend one, but I really think the puppy is a viable option.
Sirius: I second that.
James: All that's left to do is ask Grace if she's recently gotten any new pets.
Sirius: We're close now. Even if this isn't it, we're on the right track. I can feel it…
A/N: So, there it was. This chapter may have felt a bit awkward, as it's been such a long time since I did anything with these characters and I was trying to get back into the flow of it. Also, I'm going to try to maintain the same style of writing that I had been using before, but if it seems different it's just because I am a lot older now than I was when I started writing this, and my style has evolved a lot over the past few years. That being said, I enjoyed writing this chapter, and I hope you enjoyed reading it as well.
