Savethemadscientist: Yep more bonding time between father and daughter.
"So…how have you been?" Andrew asked Jessica as she settled onto the sofa at his office. He couldn't do a house call so the teenager had to come to him. Which she didn't mind doing despite the many paparazzi she had to dodge. Normally she'd talk to them and let them take pictures but she didn't want them to find out she was in therapy, not before she was ready for people to know.
"Not too bad", the ginger replied "I haven't had any set-backs".
"That's good", Andrew said "what about the journal is it helping?"
"Yeah…I haven't been keeping much of one", Jessica admitted "My dad has this new project and I've been helping with it".
"Do you mind telling me what its about?" Andrew questioned.
"I'm afraid I can't tell you", Jessica answered "but its brought me and my dad closer together. And its keeping my mind occupied".
"I'm glad to hear that", Andrew said "anything else you'd like to discuss?"
Jessica shook her head "No, I can't think of anything", she replied.
"Alright", Andrew jotted some notes in his book "I will see you next week, at your house".
"See you next week Doc", Jessica said. She also bid him farewell before leaving his office. The ginger took out her baseball cap from her bag and plopped it on her head.
Jessica walked along the street, cap tugged low. She paused at a crosswalk watching the cars go past, waiting for a suitable pause before she started to cross. Suddenly a black sports car sped toward her but before she could use her reflexes to move out of the way, a pair of arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her aside. The ginger and her saviour fell to the pavement on the other side. "Are you ok?" the man asked.
"I'm fine", Jessica replied "thanks for the save".
"No problem. That idiot driver should've been more careful", the man said. He held out his hands and helped Jessica to her feet.
"Definitely", the teenager agreed "I was gonna grab a coffee. Do you want to join me? It'll be my treat after you stopped me from getting hit by the car".
"As tempting as that sounds, I'm going to have to decline", the man said and he adjusted her baseball cap "see you around, angel".
A small smile appeared on her face at the moniker as the man started to walk away though it quickly dropped when she realised that she didn't even know the name of the guy who saved her. "Wait!" her saviour stopped and turned back "what's your name?"
"Cameron", the blonde replied.
"Well, again thank you Cameron for saving my life", Jessica said.
"You're welcome angel", Cameron said. He started to walk away the for second time until he came back again "on second thought a coffee sounds great", he admitted.
"Great", Jessica said.
"Sorry about that", Jessica said after she finished signing autographs. Despite her baseball cap she was still recognised in the coffee shop, which honestly didn't surprise her at all. It wasn't the greatest disguise she could've come up with.
"Don't worry about it, angel", Cameron said waving off her apology.
"Why do you call me that?" Jessica asked.
"You're an angel. Well, half angel", Cameron replied making Jessica almost choke on her coffee.
"I'm…I'm not…" Jessica started but the blonde gently cut her off with
"Its ok. I'm not going to tell anyone"
"How did you know about me?" Jessica whispered.
"I could sense you" at the ginger's confused face, he elaborated "I'm half demon".
"You're a cambion", Jessica stated "a demon, human hybrid. I thought you guys didn't exist". She'd done a little digging into her heritage when she was told about her mother being an angel.
"Some would say that Nephilim didn't exist either and yet here you are", Cameron lightly countered.
"Touché", Jessica conceded. They sat there in silence, drinking their coffees until the ginger spoke up again "is sensing supernatural people part of your powers?"
"It's one of them", Cameron answered "You can do it too".
Jessica shook her head "no, I can't. If I could then I would've sensed you", she said.
"Yes, you can. Just focus", Cameron gently urged.
Jessica sighed but did as he said. Sure enough she got something from Cameron, something that told her he wasn't fully human. "Wow", she breathed "I never knew I could do that".
"There's a lot of things you probably aren't aware that you can do. And I'd be happy to teach you", the demon hybrid offered.
"I'll think about it", Jessica said.
"That's all I ask", Cameron said.
Jessica stared at her father, mouth open as he hovered around on the platform. "Wow. You got quite a bit done while I was out", she remarked, impressed.
"Yep", Tony said, landing. Jessica watched him start up again, cringing when he flew over his beloved cars. She gave him thumbs up when he landed perfectly.
"I say you can fly", she said.
"Yes, I can", Tony agreed. He moved over to another area where several robotic arms started putting his suit together around him.
"Holy crap…that's amazing", Jessica breathed, walking around her father, inspecting the suit.
"If it's successful, I can make you one", Tony offered.
"No, thanks. I'd prefer to keep my feet firmly on the ground", Jessica said, politely declining "I'm gonna go do some reading. If you're going on a test flight, be careful. I don't particularly want to stop reading a perfectly good book because you need me to heal a broken bone or whatever" and with that she left the workshop. Jessica headed upstairs and into her room where she settled down onto her bed, picking up her well-thumbed copy of Harry Potter from her nightstand.
CRASH!
Jessica yelped, practically throwing the book out of her hands at the loud noise. She'd literally not long gotten into the chapter when she heard what she could only describe as something smashing through concrete. She leapt off the bed and raced downstairs. She noticed the large hole where the piano used to be.
"You've got to be kidding me", Jessica complained, seeing her father on top of what was one of his expensive cars, now a mangled wreck. She huffed in annoyance and went over, helping him out of his suit.
"Thanks Jess", Tony said sitting down on the floor, feeling rather bashed and bruised.
"No problem", Jessica said before she slugged him in the arm.
"OW! What was that for?" Tony exclaimed, rubbing the sore spot.
"I told you to be careful", Jessica scolded "so now you can heal on your own".
