I walked towards Duncan with a fake smile, as I reached to him, I gave him a few punches onto his arm. "Why the hell didn't you tell me before? I've been here driving myself crazy."
"Well, I didn't know that you'd kill a guy?"
"I didn't kill him." The look he gave me, was not what I expected it to be. All this time, he knew who I was. "How long?"
"When you accidentally put your name onto the cheque, when you bought the chain." Great. Just great. All this time, he knew.
"I wanted to tell you, but—"
"—I know. You don't have to explain to me."
Why isn't he more angry about this. "Why didn't you comfort me when you found out." We both leaned against his car. "I committed this huge fraud of impersonating someone ... I wanted to tell you, but your mom, then you—"
"—I fell in love with you, not because of your name. The reason why I didn't tell you, was because it would scare you away, and I didn't want that." Duncan also add. "I'm guessing that dead person, is Tabitha real father?"
I nodded. "He was real asshole ... I didn't kill him."
"I will trust you on that."
"So, what now? What are you suppose to call me?"
Duncan pulled me closer. "Whatever you want me to call you."'
"I like Courtney."
"Me too."
"Do you still want to marry me?" I ask, sounding worried.
"I'd married you right here and nowm, I love you ... Courtney." he kissed my forehead.
"And I love you, too ... Duncan."
The wedding day finally came.
I stepped outside wearing this beautiful sweetheart dress, with circle skirt. I had a vile covering my bun.
"You look very beautiful," Duncan added.
"Isn't it bad luck to see the spouse-to-be before the wedding?"
"Considering what we went through, we aren't traditionalists." He let out a small chuckle. He is right on that.
The door opened wide. It was the minster. "The wedding is on hole ... Ms Sawyer is confessing to a murder."
Duncan and I looked at each other, then ran out of the room, down through the alter, and to outside. "Ms Sawyer didn't kill Justin Keller ... I did." I stepped in.
"No, I killed Justin Keller," Duncan said.
The detective looked at the three of us, with an disgust look. "How many times was he shot?"
Ms Sawyer stepped in, "I went through a couple of magazines."
"Look, we know who killed Justin Keller. The gun was left in the scene, with fingerprints on it. I just wanted to ask about the cheque that was written to him. We have the murder into the police car right now."
"Can I see this person," I asked.
"Make it quick ..." the detective told her partner to open the window slightly; to my surprise, it was—
"—Heather ..." It was her who sold me out to Justin. "Let me guess, he broke your heart ... when he told you he wasn't going to give you some of the money."
"Yeah ..." but, also added, "someone was about to kill that bastard, I guess I was the lucky one."
"You guys really need to lawyer." The detective got into her car and drove away.
"I want to hire her a lawyer, one that specializes yeah-I-did-it-but-can-you-blame-me kind of lawyer."
"I agree," Duncan said.
Ms Sawyer was standing there, looking at me. "I'll be fine." Duncan nodded and went inside.
"You're not Gwen?" She asked, sounding disappointed.
"My real name is Courtney Davis ... I'm Saskatoon and I've been to Vancouver and the reason why I was on the train with Trent, was because he was give me an extra ticket to go back home, after failing of living in Toronto ... and—I'm so sorry for everything."
"I see ..." Ms Sawyer looked at me. It felt so good to finally come clean.
"I wanted to tell you, I really did ... but then you, and Duncan were so ... I wanted to give Tabitha a better life."
"You're right. Tabitha will have a better life." She walked away for a few seconds, before turning to me, "I would also like two/three more grandchildren."
I smiled, while walking towards her, to give her a hug. "Thank, mom."
"Save your tears later. We have a wedding."
The people around us watched us getting married.
"Do you, Duncan Arnold Sawyer, take Gwen Sawyer to be your wife."
"I do," Duncan said while looking at me.
"And, do you, Gwen Sawyer, take Duncan Arnold Sawyer to be your husband."
"I don't ..." the guest gasp, while Duncan was worried. "I, Courtney Helen Davis, say I do."
There were whispers among the guest. If I was going to marry Duncan, I wanted it to be with the real me.
"Okay ... the rings." Duncan pulled out a ring, and, before he show put it onto my ring finger, he showed me the engrave, Duncan & Courtney.
"I know pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride."
The crowd cheered when Duncan kissed me on the lips, the first time we became husband and wife.
"Mr Sawyer."
"Mrs Sawyer."
