Uraraka

It was winter break of our senior year at U.A and I had originally planned to spend today studying, but I couldn't concentrate so I went into work at my assigned hero agency instead. With not a lot to do I had put on my hero costume and decided to patrol the streets. It was cold outside in the late afternoon, the sun starting to set, yet the streets were busy with people out doing their Christmas shopping. Store windows were decorated with gifts, young couples took photos together in front of a large Christmas tree and young children screamed with delight out with their parents. Christmas was one of my favourite times of the year, everyone just seemed happier and kinder to one another. The only crimes happening around this time were usually minor thefts, so patrolling the streets was a good way to deter that.

I had a couple people come up to me and ask for photos. I had worked hard to become better known in the community and spent most of my spare time helping out where I could. My route lead me away from the crowded shopping districts and into quieter streets where it was more apartments, broken up by the occasional cafe or convenience store. I nodded greetings to the few people I passed as I went. As I walked past an alley way between two apartment complexes a young boy ran into me. I caught him by his shoulders, he was breathing hard, puffs or warm air visible in the cold evening.

"Are you okay?" I asked looking down at him. He caught his breath before looking up at me with tears in his eyes.

"D-down there" he pointed down the alleyway, "these men just killed someone" I tensed. I wasn't expecting to come across anything like this tonight.

"Get back here brat!" I heard a mans voice call from down the alleyway.

"Go home" I told the boy, giving him a light push on his back to send him away and he ran down the street. I turned to enter the alleyway, coming face to face with a tall thin man who glared at me.

"A hero?" he spat, "that damn brat, when I get my hands on him" he growled and threw a punch at me. I dodged it easily to the side and landed a blow to his gut. He staggered back, out of breath as I came forward again wrapping my hands to the back of his head and brought it down to my knee, breaking his nose and leaving him unconscious. Letting his limp body drop to the concrete I ran down the rest of the alleyway. As I reached the open area at the end a unmarked white van tore away down a side street and was gone. There was no way I could chase it.
The boy had said that someone had been killed so I looked around. Behind the apartments was a mess, with lots of makeshift shacks along the walls as though homeless had created a shelter here, but it seemed deserted now. I searched until I saw an arm sticking out from under a collapsed makeshift home and rushed over, pulling sheets of metal, cloth and wood from the body.

"Are you okay?" I called out as I threw the pieces aside, hoping the boy had been wrong and the person was only unconscious. Once the rubble was cleared I stepped back, covering my mouth in shock. There was a lot of blood, but the most shocking part was the messy green hair, the freckles on his face...

It was Deku with a long slit across his throat.
