Author's Note: Sorry this chapter's kinda short, but I hope you enjoy it! Disclaimer: Should've mentioned this earlier, but I'm not actually sure what Casey's gender is. I guess I wasn't really thinking too much about it when I published this story. Don't get mad at me if I made them the wrong gender in my fanfiction...

-JAKE POV-

Jake woke up the next morning to Pixie shaking his arms, repeatedly saying his name. Jake promptly sat up.

"What is it?" He asked.

Pixie grabbed his hand and dragged him into a standing position. "Someone's here."

"What do you mean? Who?"

Pixie stepped out of the tent, Jake following close behind. Pixie glanced around nervously.

"I don't know! They've been here since early morning, when I woke up."

"Where are they?"

"I'm-I'm not sure. They're somewhere here though, maybe hiding in these bushes." Pixie started looking through the bushes, pushing the leaves aside with her hands.

Jake was very confused. People? Watching them?

"Um, isn't there a chance it could've just been a couple slimes playing around in these bushes?" He said.

Pixie glared at him. "No, I know I saw them. They were people."

Jake put his hands up. "Okay-fine. Just saying."

Then, Jake heard a sound like bushes rustling. Pixie froze.

"There," she whispered. "They're here."

Suddenly, three kids jumped out of the nearest bush. Pixie aimed her Vac as if shooting slime at them would be any help.

The kids didn't really look very threatening. Two boys, one girl-each dressed in dirty, badly ripped clothing, holding old Vacpacks that seemed pretty much empty.

The girl had short, straight, orange (also an unusual color) hair, held back with a purple hair clip, and brown eyes. The two boys looked exactly alike-related, probably twins. They both had pitch black, curly, longish hair, light blue eyes almost the same shade as Pixie's, and lots of freckles on their arms and face. The only way to tell them apart-one boy had a blue jacket, the other a red.

The girl walked up to Pixie and put her hand on Pixie's Vac. She pushed the Vac down so it was aimed toward the ground. Pixie narrowed her eyes at the girl suspiciously.

"Why are you here?" Pixie asked.

Jake had thought lots of kids liked to explore The Ancient Ruins, so he was a little confused as to why Pixie was so suspicious of them.

The girl lifted her hand off Pixie's Vac and took a step back. "We're not gonna hurt you, if that's what you were so afraid of." She said.

"We weren't afraid of anything." Jake said. "I'm Jake, and this," he nodded in Pixie's direction, "is Pixie."

"I'm Leah," the girl said. "And these are my friends, Noah and Oliver." The two boys waved. Jake couldn't tell which was which.

"We're on a quest," Leah said.

"So are we!" Jake exclaimed. "Where are you guys going?"

"We're not really sure. We're trying to find The Tarr King, to, uh, save Leah's little bro," The boy with the blue jacket said.

Leah's left eye twitched. "Yes, thank you, Oliver."

Jake made a mental note that blue was Oliver, red was Noah. Also, he made a mental note not to mess with Leah.

"That's what we're doing," Pixie said. "We're looking for Jake's little sister."

The boy with the red jacket, Noah, said: "Cool! You guys can help us, then."

Oliver said, "Yeah! We can like, team up or whatever!"

Leah sighed. "If that's what they wanna do," She said, nodding her head in Jake and Pixie's direction. Pixie glanced at Jake. He shrugged.

"Well," Pixie said, "Sure. We can team up."
