"You can't stop me!" Bianca yelled. "I'm gonna be a pokemon trainer!" Bianca's father scowled. Cheren and I hurried to Bianca's side, earning annoyed looks from her father.

"You have a responsibility!" Bianca's father said. "You have to take up your mother's work. You promised!" Bianca lowered her head, backing up.

"Who's this guy?" Kenya asked, walking over to us.

"You leave her alone!" Cheren stepped in front of Bianca. "She doesn't owe you anything!" Cheren and Bianca's father started shouting at each other. Bianca turned away, Kenya tried to comfort her.

"You aren't that kind of person!" Bianca's father pushed past Cheren and me. "You don't have the strength to train a pokemon. He looked at her Snivy, peeking out of her jacket pocket. "How long have you had that thing? It hasn't even evolved. You aren't cut out for this." Cheren started to say something but Bianca cut him off.

"I can!" Bianca shouted. "I can be whatever I want to be! I'm gonna battle in a big tournament! You'll see!"

"A tournament?" Bianca's father seemed taken aback. "Fine then. Fight in your tournament. It's the one happening next month, right? You don't stand a chance, you'll be crushed in your first battle. Then, you'll understand what you were born to be." Without another word, he turned and walked away. Bianca let out a soft whine. Cheren groaned. I wiped my brow.

"What was that about?" Kenya asked. Cheren ignored her, comforting Bianca.

"That jerk really doesn't have any restraint."

"What an annoying guy," I commented.

"Why is he like this?" Bianca started crying.

"No, no come on." Cheren shook Bianca. "Stop crying." Kenya gave me a look. It took ten minutes for Cheren to calm Bianca down. He convinced her to go to the theme park with him. Kenya and I went to the Nimbasa gym. When we'd arrived. Elesa was on a stage, battling someone. She was commanding an Emolga. The girl battling Elesa had a Gigalith. The seats surrounding the stage were empty.

"You two challengers?" An older man asked, standing beside the entrance. He wore a cowboy hat and a brown suit.

"Yeah," I replied. Kenya smiled at the man. The three of us watched the battle play out. The Gigalith defeated the Emolga.

"My last pokemon." Elesa held up a pokeball. She sent out an Eelektross. "Do you think your Gigalith can keep going, Mary?" Mary laughed dryly. The Gigalith stomped its leg defiantly.

"He can do a lot more than keep going!" Mary shot back. "He's gonna win!" Kenya and I found seats in the back row.

"This is pretty intense," Kenya whispered.

"Power gem!" Mary ordered. Several white spheres appeared around Gigalith, they flew at Eelektross. Eelektross twisted its body, evading the spheres. "Heavy slam!" Gigalith started stomping towards Eelektross.

"Thunder wave." Eelektross released a pulse of electricity, stunning Gigalith. Gigalith shook, unable to move.

"Come on!" Mary yelled. "Fight it, Gigalith!"

"Get closer," Elesa said calmly. Eelektross got closer to Gigalith. "Zap cannon." Eelektross fired a beam of electricity, hitting Gigalith in the chest. The blast pushed Gigalith backward, but it wasn't knocked out.

"That thing's strong," I said under my breath.

"Gigalith, you have to move!" Mary stomped her feet. "Use sandstorm, hurry!" Gigalith stumbled, losing its bearings.

"Quickly, now. Dragon tail." Eelektross moved like a blur, whipping its tail across Gigalith's chest. Gigalith was lifted off the floor by the impact. It fell back to the floor with a loud crash. Gigalith was knocked out. Mary silently returned Gigalith. Elesa returned Eelektross. "You relied way too much on Gigalith. Your other pokemon were only used as bait or sandbags. Your Gigalith is strong but that strategy will only get you so far." Elesa lectured Mary for a few minutes before Mary left. As Mary left, Elesa looked to Kenya and me. "I really don't feel like battling the two of you," Elesa yawned.

"Quit being a brat!" The man by the door yelled.

"Shut up, Clay! If I don't want to battle them, I don't have to!"

"Were challengers!" Kenya spoke up. "You have to fight us!"

"No. I don't" Elesa hopped off the stage. "Get out."
