Darkness Fills the Room

It's the evening.

Mindy sits in a chair, looking into a mirror. She is smiling a little, her hands on the wooden desk. She taps the desk, staring into her own eyes.

"How long has the power been off? I don't even know anymore."

Mindy shutted off all of the lights in her apartment, but there is some light going through the windows. She looks at the window in her bedroom, her eyes starting to blink.

Was she really going to start crying now? After everything that has been going on in her life?

She sighs softly to herself, head hung low.

"Don't you dare," Mindy tells herself, "you have made it this far, don't do this to yourself."

Just let your mind relax.

Mindy looks back up at the mirror, seeing her reflection. The only thing she sees is a broken octoling that has tried her best throughout her life.

Life has been trying to make you happy. Think more positive.

"Can I?" Mindy asks herself, getting up from the chair that she was sitting in. She pushes it in, leaving the bedroom.

She looks around the small hallway of her apartment. Looking up at the walls, nothing is on the walls. No pictures, no decorations. She looks over at the kitchen, walking into the main section of her apartment.

Mindy mutters, walking into the kitchen. She looks at the calendar.

"Nothing planned, of course." Mindy laughs to herself, walking out of the kitchen.

As she looks at the living room, she smiles. She then starts to imagine her two friends on the couch, chatting among themselves. She then starts to see Mark sitting near the kitchen wall, sitting on one of the stools. He's smiling, looking at her with a relaxed expression.

Mindy looks up at the ceiling, then back at the stool. She waves rather awkwardly, smiling shyly.

She yawns, starting to stretch her arms and legs. Her eyes close during this moment.

As she opens her eyes, nothing is around her. Her friends aren't there and Mark isn't there to be found. Mindy sighs, walking back into the small hallway.

Entering the bedroom, she walks over to her dresser. She opens up some drawers, looking through each of them for any nighttime clothes.

She shrugs, finding a gray tank top and navy blue yoga pants.

"These will do," Mindy says, taking off her black long sleeved shirt. Placing the shirt on the bed, she unhooks her bra, taking it off. Mindy puts on the tank top, feeling her rib cage.

She then takes off her blue jeans, placing it on the bed.

After she puts on the yoga pants, she makes a pile of the clothes she took off and takes them into the bathroom. She places the pile into a small laundry hamper.

With the covers a mess, Mindy tosses and turns in her half sleep state as she tries to find a good place to rest.

She mutters to herself, now finally finding a place to rest.

Hopefully tomorrow will be good. Keep thinking positive.
