"Shoot to kill, Shinso."
Kana had two options. Well three really but just watching what was about to happen wasn't an idea that sat well with her. So she could either try to grab Rukia and hope she was able to pull her out of the way in time. Or,
Kana took off like a bullet, the ends of her hair brushing against someone else's as they flashed past each other. She wasn't fast enough to stop some blood spill entirely, but her foot planting firmly in Gin's chest and knocking him back a few metres just meant the wound in Kuchiki Byakuya's chest was only a couple inches deep as opposed to the near life-threatening it would have been otherwise. There was a sickening squelch as blade retracted from flesh, and Byakuya collapsed to his knees, his sister helping hold him up. Kana would be lying if she said it didn't stroke her ego a bit that he mostly collapsed from previous wounds and flash stepping when his reiatsu was so depleted, and less because of the attack Kana couldn't completely stop. Rukia was straight up freaking out at her brother's condition, and Kana rolled her eyes.
Seriously, Rukia, the guy was gonna sit there and watch a giant flaming bird murder you and you're shocked he came to save you only now? Honestly, you should be expecting him to die for you at this point. Aizen took a few steps towards the siblings, and faint shouting could be heard from above. Looking up, Kana narrowed her eyes against the sun to see Jidanbo plummeting towards them, Kukaku standing atop his shoulder and chanting. Kana could only hear the last of it, the 'Hado 63: Raikoho!' before she was covering her eyes as yellow lightning was striking down where Aizen stood, sandy dust flying everywhere. There were more reiatsu signature's quickly approaching, and Kana was off in a flash. Aizen was standing off to the side of where he had been before, and she was semi proud she had won the race to him, never mind the fact she was closer anyway. Kana came up behind the dark haired man, closer than she would have liked but with the other two it gave her more control should Aizen resist.
Yoruichi was in front of the man, one hand holding his Zanpakuto in it's sheathe and the other with an elbow ready to drive into his stomach. Soi Fon made eye contact with Kana and the taller girl nodded, petite feet landing on her shoulder milliseconds later. Soi Fon's zanpakuto was at Aizen's throat, her other hand pointed behind her to strike out. Kana herself had a hand resting on Aizen's shoulder, her thumb pressing lightly into a pressure point that, on a normal person at least, would cause their legs to give out an collapse. Her other arm was pulled down by her waist, purple lightning crackling along it as she prepared to drive her fingers into his side. Aizen's reiatsu rippled subtly in what Kana could only assume was anger, and her reiatsu shuddered as it knocked against her own.
"There's a face I haven't seen in a long time." The cocky fuck sounded like he was running into an old friend and less like he had three women poised to kill him.
"Don't do it. If you even move a muscle-" Yoruichi started, and Soi Fon finished, her blade pressing harder into Aizen's neck.
"Then we're going to cut off your head."
Yeah. Thanks for including me in your dramatic's guys. Kana resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Kukaku and Yoruichi grinned at each other, and Kana watched out of the corner of her eyes as a busty strawberry blonde haired woman restrained Gin, her blade to his throat and his wrist in her grasp. She couldn't see where the dark skinned man was, but she assumed he was also being restrained. Or at least she hoped so.
"Aizen. There is no place left for you. No place you can escape to." There were more colourful flashes as the other Captains surrounded them, all glaring with violent disapproval.
"It's over, Aizen." Yoruichi seemed firm in that, and it would have made Kana relax slightly. If Aizen's Reiatsu wasn't thrumming, and he didn't fucking chuckle. The sound would have been attractive, if Kana wasn't fearing for her life right now.
"I'm sorry to do this, but the time has come." Kana felt pressure from the sky, and Yoruichi shouted for them to get away. Soi Fon pushed off Kana's shoulder, and Kana herself used the ground to kick off, not leaping back but instead flashing forwards to stand beside Yoruichi and turn to face Aizen. She did not like the idea of this fucker at her back. Thick yellow lights dropped from the sky to encase Aizen, and all eyes took to the sky. Kana watched as she saw her first Hollow's other than Acidwire-and didn't that feel like forever ago-red eyes glowing as they ripped a hole in the sky.
"Impossible!" Someone shouted behind her.
"It's Menos Grande!"
The Hollow's burst through, long white arms reaching out, thick black bodies following.
"The Gillian's! How many of them are coming through!?"
"No...look! There's something else in there!" Two more thick yellow beams shot down, encasing both Gin and the dark skinned one, Kana really wasn't sure if she would ever remember his name, and the ground rumbled and broke where the three traitor's stood, lifting them in the light towards the hole in the sky. One of the Shinigami moved forwards to stop them, but a rumbling voice caused everyone to halt.
"Stop. That light is a weapon with the name of Negacion. It's a technique the Menos use when they are rescuing their fellow Hollows. Once enveloped by that light, it is impossible for those within and without to interact. It is an isolated world inside the beams. All those who have fought Menos know it well. From the moment that light fell on Sosuke Aizen, it became completely impossible for us to reach him. "
Oh, what a shame. Kana's shoulder's relaxed and she crossed her arms in front of her chest, frowning up at the three figures. One of the Captains kept shouting for Tousen to come back, and Kana mentally cheered as she now had a name for the third. Ukitake stepped forwards, glaring up at Aizen with strong disappointment, and really, shouldn't the guy be more angry?
"You've joined with the Menos. Why would you want to do that?"
"I need to keep reaching higher."
"Have you become that corrupt?"
"You're blinded by your self righteousness, Ukitake. From the beginning, no one has ever stood at the top. Neither you, nor me, nor the gods. But soon, that unattainable vacancy at the top will be fulfilled." Aizen took his glasses off as he spoke, slicking his hair back and snapping the eye-wear in his fingers.
"From now on, I alone will stand at the top. Goodbye, Shinigami. And goodbye," Kana froze as his eyes landed first on her group of friends behind her, then Ichigo's fallen form, then locked with Kana's.
"Ryoka. Thank you for the entertainment." And then Aizen was out of sight, the hole in the sky slamming closed.
Everyone was being healed around them, and Kana stood frowning at Orihime's healing bubble as she worked to put Ichigo back together. Aizen's words were still ringing in her head, and she could not get them out. She felt almost guilty for her thoughts. Aizen had almost killed her friends. Had manipulated absolute everyone to get what he wanted. He wanted to be more powerful. Wanted to be at the top. Wanted to have everyone in awe and fear of his power. It was the same way Kana felt her whole life. Kana's stomach clenched and she looked away from her friends as they watched Ichigo with sad, worried eyes. It was Ichigo's own fault really. If you're not strong enough to go against the strongest, then don't. If you stand in someone's way, they'll cut you down. Kana's eyes turned skyward as they had repeatedly in the last 10 minutes, staring at where that hole had been. Where Aizen had escaped. Her next words were a whisper so soft, she was certain nobody could hear her as she admitted something to herself that she knew everyone would hate her for.
"I wish I had of gone with Aizen."
