The moon was full, casting silver light across Stone Canyon. In between the parked cars and locked doors a pack of Moogers roamed, confused and angry.

The wound that allowed them to escape seemed to have resurfaced.

Or maybe it never fully sealed.

She jumped down, her golden blade glowing in the light before it sliced into the Mooger.

It didn't matter the case, because she was going to send them all to Nighlok Heaven.

Gia awoke with a grin. She stretched her back and looked out the window, seeing the bright Saturday sun coming through her blinds.

She opened them and basked in the heat as it was absorbed into her skin.

She hadn't slept that well in months, she almost felt guilty.

Maybe things were finally looking up.

After throwing some clothes and heading over to Brain Freeze she went over to the group's favorite booth to rendezvous with Emma before their hike.

But instead, she found Emma, Jake, and Axel sitting together.

"Hey…" Gia said cautiously. "What's up?"

"Have you seen Brad today?" Axel asked.

"Uh, no?" Gia asked, thinking back to her empty house. "Why?"

"Well we had an argument last night," Axel said. "And he hasn't talked to me since."

"That sounds like him," Gia said. "I hope you guys work things out…"

"Can you talk to him?" Axel asked. "I know you don't exactly love me but Brad is really important to me and I want to work things out."

"Of course she can," Emma said.

"Yeah," Jake said while looking hard into her eyes. "She'd love to."

Gia looked over at her friends, then back to Axel… the desperate look in his eyes.

"Yeah," she said after a while. "I'll see what I can do. No promises though."

Jayden and Noah each traded exchanges, their wooden Bokken clanked hard and echoed around.

Despite how easily Jayden could deflect Noah's strikes he had to admit the boy was improving.

Still… there was something disturbing about Noah's strength that Jayden couldn't shake.

It was too raw…

Like it was being fueled by fiery anger.

"Hey," Kimberly said with her head in the door. "Why don't you guys take a break? I'm making breakfast if you're interested."

Jayden shrugged, despite his ability to forego hunger and other distractions he could tell Noah was getting drained.

"That sounds good," Jayden said.

Soon after the two of them were sitting in front of omelets.

"Chocolate milk?" Kimberly asked. "It actually makes a decent post-workout drink."

She poured two glasses then drank from the carton herself.

"Don't tell Axel you saw that," she said. "It drives him crazy." She smiled, "When he gets off his butt and starts doing dishes then he can talk to me."

Jayden laughed. There was something extremely fascinating about Kimberly. She carried an aura that fought for all his attention.

Hell, he could probably just watch her go about her day and not get bored for a second.

Another plate was set for Rebecca, who sleepily stepped out of her room and grabbed her plate.

"Don't you wanna sit at the table and at least pretend we function like a normal family?"

A sarcastic look crossed her face, but before Rebecca spoke she looked up and saw Jayden and Noah.

"Yeah," she said and put her plate back on the table. "I can do that."

"Ignore her sass," Kimberly said. "She's probably just tired after rugby last night."

"No," she droned. "I'm tired because all of the clunking from the kitchen woke me up."

"That was us," Noah said. "We were kinda loud downstairs… sorry."

"Oh," she said. "That's fine I guess. Ranger training and all that."

Jayden raised his eyebrow as the girl cut into her omelet with a fork. The change in her body language was so drastic.

It almost seemed like she was being rude to her mom to show off or something.

Jayden was once again reminded that he might never understand girls.

The Suzuki clansman charged forward in his monstrous form, his blue face holding a sadistic grin as he swung his ax towards a group of panicked civilians.

There was no plan, no coordination with the Moogers around him.

It was all about chaos, about inflicting as much pain on the humans as possible.

And that was what bothered Jayden the most.

The five Rangers all rushed to the scene, already morphed and ready to make the encounter as swift as possible.

Jayden was about to swing his sword into the creature when the blade was caught by Chinomanako.

"It's been some time, Shiba," The half Nighlok said. "I hope you've improved your combat prowess." He then tore the weapon from Jayden's hand.

Sparks then flew down the Nighlok's side as Jake's ax connected with its red skin.

"So, do you have to practice those lines in the mirror to say them so seriously? Or do you think that sounds good?" The Black Ranger inquired. "Asking for a friend."

Around the other Nighlok, Gia armed her Tiger Claw but was stopped by Noah who calmly asked. "Let me go first."

"Are you sure?" Emma asked.

Gia shrugged. "Let's see what he's got."

Noah lifted his bowgun and aimed.

A blue blast of energy punched the Nighlok in the chest and knocked it backward.

"Nice one," Gia said and patted Noah on the back.

The Nighlok growled and steadied itself again, and charged.

Noah felt his insides electrify and he frantically shot his bowgun again.

This time it missed.

The Nighlok swung its ax right into his chest. Pulling sparks from his body as he flew backward.

Right into a mob of Moogers.

With his weapon on the ground, he began to throw his fists around, but they persisted. Some held his limbs while others swung their swords into his chest.

Gia then jumped to his aid, using her claw weapon to drive the Moogers backward.

"It was a good try," Gia said. "You just need to work on a plan B for when things get physical."

Noah lowered his head shamefully before saying, "yeah, I don't know what I was thinking…"

Unfortunately for the monster Gia and Emma already had a plan. Gia summoned a giant boulder that Emma launched with a fist of wind.

The launched boulder hit the Nighlok directly and broke into pieces upon impact.

"There's another attack downtown," Kimberly said through their helmets. "I'm heading there now."

"Are you crazy?" Jake asked. "Last time you used that armor it nearly killed you."

"I've been practicing," Kimberly said. "I'll be fine."

Jayden swore under his breath, he trusted Kimberly. She was his veteran by decades.

But he didn't know if he believed she could handle a Nighlok alone.

Chinomanako punched Jayden in the chest, causing his body to bend forward. The Red Ranger straightened himself and caught his breath.

It seemed like Kimberly was going to have to handle things herself.

Kimberly Hart was no stranger to danger. From a young age, she'd been over her head in insanity.

Saving the world at sixteen, she figured this would be a cakewalk.

The Nighlok stood completely unopposed. Leaving nothing but destruction in its wake.

The creature had a wicker basket body and a large nozzle that ejected a blast of flames that consumed everything around it in fire.

Kimberly took a deep breath and held out the morpher.

"Alright… I guess it's morphin time," she said and punched in the proper keys.

The silver armor of the Gosei Guardian came over her form. It was invigorating, like a hard rain over a field of crops.

She then raised the Vulcan Blaster and knocked the Nighlok back with a shot of energy.

While the enemy was recovering from the shot she raised her sword and swung into his midsection, sending sparks flying in every direction.

A stray Mooger attempted to flank her from the side but a quick kick knocked it away.

Kimberly couldn't help but grin. The sheer amount of power at her disposal was amazing. Nostalgic memories of her Ranger days flashed across her mind's eye; filling her with even more hype.

"I will not be silenced so quickly," The Nighlok proclaimed. "My fire will not be extinguished!"

"Oh yeah?" She asked, "Watch this!"

The monster threw more flames, but she raised the morpher and summoned a rush of water that completely snuffed the fire.

"My fire!" The creature exclaimed.

Kimberly raised her blade again but then was suddenly overwhelmed by a stabbing pain. A migraine rushed down her skull and nestled in her spine, spreading a warm pain through all of her muscles.

That hadn't happened when she was practicing… but she hadn't worked this aggressively when she trained.

The Nighlok laughed and threw its fist into her stomach. And blasted her with a rush of flames.

Kimberly flew back, feeling more pain then she should.

She tried to stand again, but another wave of pain shot through her and in a flash of gold and silver light her armor disappeared.

"Now that you're nice and vulnerable," the Nighlok said. "I can show you what happens when you disrespect a Suzuki."

The creature took a deep breath inside its wicker lungs and exhaled flames right towards Kimberly.

But a figure leaped from the shadows and pulled her away.

The flames splashed against the ground as Kimberly watched the fire splash against the asphalt.

Kimberly then turned towards her savior, a woman with long blonde hair and face masked in determination.

The woman raised a device in the air, but before Kimberly could observe its function someone else appeared at the scene.

Kimberly scowled as her eyes locked on Baron.

"Why don't we test this out," Baron said and drew a morpher identical to what Kimberly had. "Dark Siege!" He said and slid the card inside of it.

In a flash new armor came around his form. Like the morpher, it was nearly identical to Gosei Guardian.

Only the visor was completely black.

The armored Ranger raised a version of the Vulcan Blaster and completely obliterated the Nighlok and then disappeared.

"Was he a friend?" The blonde woman asked.

Kimberly shook her head, "He's up to something…" She muttered as the Nighlok began to grow.

The Megazord slashed into the ax-wielding enemy.

Just as another joined it.

"Oh come on!" Jake exclaimed. "Since when did they start growing anyway?"

"They're Nighlok," Jayden said, "So they have a second life that awakens when they're defeated."

"Great factoid," Gia said, "But we're kind getting trashed."

The Rangers rocked violently in their seats as the monsters attacked simultaneously.

The ax-wielding Nighlok wound its arm back, but before it could attack it was suddenly flanked by a single red Zord.

It dug its teeth into the Nighlok and distracted it long enough for the Megazord to knock both enemy's down with its sword.

The Zord landed in front of the Megazord and Jayden felt a rush of emotions.

"The Lion FoldingZord!" He exclaimed.

"The what?" Jake asked.

"My old Zord…" Jayden said. "But what is it doing here?"

"Saving your butt," A female said over their comms.

Jayden shook his head in disbelief. "Alright guys, let's end this!"

The Megazord raised its blade and slashed into the Nighlok cutting into its chest and causing it to fall backward. Then turned towards the other Nighlok and summoned a wave of elemental energy that mixed with the Lion Zord's fire and washed over its body.

The Nighlok dropped its ax and followed suit, and they both exploded.

A flurry of emotions ripped through Jayden's chest as he looked over at the girl who stood next to a winded looking Kimberly.

He hadn't expected to see her ever again… or at least not for a long while.

"This is Lauren," Jayden explained. "My older sister."

She smiled and bowed, "It's nice to meet all of you."

She cast a stone-cold expression towards Jayden, "It's good to see you're in decent company since you abandoned the Shiba house."

"So what brings you here?" Jake asked as he smiled at Lauren, "If you need a tour of the town just let me know. I'd love to help such a pretty lady out."

Gia slapped the back of Jake's head as Lauren rolled her eyes. "I came to investigate the Nighlok attacks, but it seems you've already been combating them."

"They're the Suzuki clan," Jayden said.

"I know who they are. There's a fairly large section about them in our records. Along with every other fool that betrayed the Shiba clan," Lauren said darkly. "Besides, I didn't come here to study them. I came here to destroy them."

"Well that's the third one we've taken out," Gia said.

"And there are still five more, and Noctis himself," Lauren said. "So don't let your guard down." With that, she turned and walked away.

"Shouldn't you go after her?" Kimberly asked. "She's your sister."

"I don't think that's a good idea," Jayden said. "She's still a little raw about me leaving."

Jayden watched her leave with a rock sitting firmly in his stomach.
